You are in luck! Towards the end of this LS, no one will be doing the tower any longer. You will have a nice empty map to solo at your whim without Anet needing to change the content and making it more frustrating than it already is

Okay, positive feedback – the Nightmare Chambers. I really like these because parts of your PS can get pulled into them (no spoilers) and it hits you right in the feels. These actually seem decently scripted, easy to solo or fun to do as a group, with NPCs who will rez you, fair treasure, a decent challenge and enjoyable to do. Nice job here, Anet. I love these, I want to do every variation of these rooms. I wish all my toons were the right level for it (also thank you for a certain fight wink ).

The meta being achievable both with dailies or without? Def liking this too even though I don’t want the Gas Mask. Great call and hoping to see that implemented in more LS updates.

And now, the bad. What in the kitten were you thinking with the spawn rate of enemies and obstacles in the tower? It’s like we were given these great mini instances and the most frustrating, awful content to slog through to get to them. I understand what the intent was – that large groups of players or small groups of very well geared players all work together to clear enemies, get to clean air, and finish events… but Anet, you know this isn’t how the GW2 community likes to operate. Not without it being a guild run or champ loot dangling over their heads anyhow.

So you have a dungeon packed full of enemies with a fast respawn who condition stack, toxin that can spawn enemies out of thin air, and players who want to clear content ASAP and move on. Not a great design choice. I found myself alone an awful lot or dead and abandoned because if you stop to rez someone, you may have five enemies on top of you in short order. Perhaps even more frustrating was the lack of any chance to “catch my breath” or to try to look around and figure out how to get to the Nightmare Chambers. Stop and you get dogpiled or a mine spawns on or near you. Lose the zerg or group? You’re pretty much done unless you are exceptionally lucky. While I love group content and appreciate a challenge, this is just frustrating. The whole tower is an exercise in frustration if you don’t catch a group or if they aren’t going where you are.

And Miss Scarlet. Oh how I wanted to like her but the end of the final instance is a let down as is her entire role in this. Please retire her for a while. This is overkill.

I also thought this was a great touch, and also made me wonder if the other personal story vigil forces have their own? Any Tybalt or Kernsson? It was just great to have a personal story reference thrown in as I so desperately want my personal story to develop more.

I fought Forgal. Also – one of the people in the cages? It was Petra from the human starter area.

Had the same experience… and some wonderfully unhelpful fellow going “LAWL U N00BS CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE TOP ALONE, dumb***es.” while doing nothing to help or get a group. Charming person there.

But then a large group came and passed though. The commander made sure no dead were left behind, guided us through, explained the clean air and cleaning and every last one of us made it to the top to do the final instance after having fun getting there. That was awesome… but I fear that’s not going to be the majority of experiences.

Nope, nope, subjective.

Tequatl loot is among the best in the game, if not the best. The risk is minimal if you dodge the waves, and further mitigated if you’re in the zerg at his feet.

Don’t know how you’re bored if you’re offered at least three different ways of approaching this fight, but again, that’s subjective and you’re free to think it’s boring.

It isn’t good loot if it never drops.
It isn’t minimal risk if you’re perpetually understaffed.
It isn’t fun if no one is around to do it. It is boring.

You can call my situation subjective, but then offer the exact opposite scenario as not subjective at all?

I tried joining TTS, didn’t get the time of day from anyone involved, and I don’t feel like grovelling for a meager chance at loot that I can’t guarantee will be useful. But obviously that’s my fault that Tequatl requires people not already in mega-guilds to join mega-guilds to get kitten done, right?

So I’ve been playing GW2 ALOT, and I’ve really enjoyed it, until i got to level 23 and realized… “Oh wait, all the armors look the same” At first with all the concept art and stuff the game advertised i thought i’d have the opportunity to level up and each level get some kitten looking armor, or at least different look armor! I mean i paid $50 for this game and the devs are too lazy to make different armor models? I’ve been wearing the same armor for 23 levels all that’s changed is my dye color and stats… The reason i like to play MMO’s is for the cool armors, for the sence that i’ve spent these amounts of hours to make my guy look awesome! But i dont get that in this game. I looked in ther black lion store and i looked for different items in heavy armor, there are about 5 different sets and therer are hundreds of variations of them for different levels with different stats!
Unless after level 20 you start getting different looking armors that aren’t in the black lion trading i want a refund.

Thats the whole reason i wanted to play, to get cool armors! All I’ve seen in gladiator and some legendary items that look cool… AT LEVEL 80! If i have to spend months to finally get armor that doesn’t look plain and boring i will shoot myself, but hopefully i wont have to if they refund my money…

Again im new to the game so im not sure, but i dont want to play another second of this game if there are no more new armors until level 80 so hopefully someone can answer that.

Hopefully someone can also explain why all the armors look the same. People say that armor starts getting better after level 20 but so far doesn’t seem true and everyone i see looks the same too! I’ve played some free to play games that give you new armor like every level that looks super different and cool!

You’re level 23.

Armor all looks slightly similar up until past 30th level when some of the different crafted and karma armors begin to show up and cultural armor becomes available. That’ll continue as you move up the level ranks. Of course the very best armor is at level 80 when you’ll have dungeon sets you can work towards, full cultural, crafted, karma armors.. and you can even mix and match to create your own unique look.

I did kinda giggle at the thinking five years of MMOs is a “long time”. I’m 39 and this month is the 25th anniversary of when I beat my first game – The Legend of Zelda. I started gaming in 1982 when wee little me discovered something called Pac-Man and later that same year, my mother bought and became wholly addicted to Coleco-vision. So gaming has almost always been around me. It’s a terrifying idea for me not to be playing a game or gaming – what in the world would I do with my spare time to have fun and what would be my hobby?

Others did point it out but it’s true the average age of gamers is 30+ and people who are 30+ don’t want to deal with a lot of bullkitten. I did try WoW but I found it full of rude little kids who needed a swift kick in the butt and overly grindy, not fun content. That’s why I left. When I tried out GW2 during Karka Heck Weekend, I found the community was mature, the game not as grindy as WoW, there were a lot of really great female characters in prominent roles, the male humans actually looked nice, and the overall focus was on enjoying oneself with light but still serious stories. Oh and it wasn’t Korean MMO Clone 28,987. That all sold me the game and what has kept me playing is that it’s fun and offers just the right amount of challenge for me … though those kids who need a kick in the butt have been steadily flooding in and mucking up the community (Reason #1 I will not do random dungeon runs and was sad when the guild of old farts I was in finally died).

Maybe teens don’t stick with it because the game doesn’t encourage showing off and being a butt. No “inspect” tool. No PvP servers. Maybe because there are a dozen other things that cater to their generation. It’s not Call of Duty.

And hush about My Little Pony and Hello Kitty – I’ve been collecting both since the 80’s.

I joined this game in part based on it’s pretty male humans and was disappointed to find a lack of skimpy armor or long fluffy hair styles for said pretty males so at current, I only have two men (a human and a sylvari) and the rest are women (even my Charr – male Charr are ugly as sin! What gives? No lion or housecat look for them? Why do male Norn all look like steroid WWE wrestlers?) – sorta disappointing that this game lacks a bit in options for femme men or butch women (yeah, you look real tough in that starter light armor – who in the heck designed that crap?).

Oh and.. no, I don’t have females because they’re “sexy”. Might have something to do with me liking to play my own gender out there kicking butt.

Please no. The community is already toxic enough over what gear is best, do we need a tool that these jerks can use to belittle and be a kitten to anyone?

You already have zerker trinckets , now flush that PVT set and get berserker .
Next step is get rid of the I play how I want attitude , it’s useless and prevents you and your party from making more gold because of slow kills.
Now try to make your own lfg post and say exp only \ ping zerk gear . You will see how fast you can clear some content .

Because elitists are the worst people in any MMO community and chase off more legit players than any other group. Saying you’re “elitist” isn’t a compliment – it’s saying you have a crappy attitude.

The heck I’m going to go zerker. I don’t like how it plays and due to disabilities, I cannot pinpoint dodge. I think PvE leans heavily towards encouraging zerker and I think zerker is great… for those who can properly play using it. That’s not me, I will faceplant in zerker gear. I will be eating dirt.

I don’t want to clear content fast either, I want to enjoy content. I absolutely do not understand the rush to clear content – it’s like eating without chewing or bothering to taste the food. Cheers to those who love speed runs but I want to take time to enjoy what I’m doing.

I use PVT and I don’t insult people who use zerkers or any other gear because we all have different skills and playstyles. It’d be great if the GW2 community could take that approach too.

Zerkers is just defending their playstyle. They are often called elitist when they are perceived as players who kick those in non-zerkers, asking a specific class, or minimum achievement, for example. While I don’t agree with all those reasons, they have the right to ask for specific players they wanna play with.

That’s 100% NOT the vibe I get from some, but not all, of these posts. That vibe is “zerker or gtfo LOL NOOB!!! That’s why you stink and we kick you Zerker 4lyfe.” That attitude is the one that needs to GTFO and I’m real tired of seeing it everywhere – zerker is viable, it’s okay for zerkers to only want to play with zerkers and to advertise such, it’s okay for anyone to only prefer certain things and advertise such. I have yet to see a single thing in the game that is required for any content, so why would that suddenly be the case?

Toxic is not really that dangerous, so even if you can’t remove it you won’t really die from it.

Eh, I’m an older gamer. Experience tells me that a new mechanic that seems overpriced/useless ends up being something you have to use despite being broken/not so great.

It won’t surprise me if the next content introduces situations where toxic HAS to be removed.

My main problem with new kessex hills is while leveling a new char , now it takes far longer to complete 3 hearts in there .-. , since there’s almost no centaurs or bandits around , and the one underwater they didn’t use to reflect your stuff back at you. (did they?) o.o

Are the hearts doable at all right now? I can think of a few that don’t fit the new Kessex Hills at all.

Not really. When you go out of your way to be a kitten, the blame falls on you. Normally I’d be in the “they’re just playing the game” camp because that’s how I feel about the champ trains but this is a wee bit different since it’s a LS event. It’s different when you’re not aware what’s going on or why people are camping those two specific champs but once you know and you decide to be a complete kitten about it and purposely tick off a group of people? That’s your fault. You don’t have to be a jerk, you actively choose to be. You are actively choosing to grief a group of people’s attempt to finish an achieve in a zone where it should be expected that everyone is there for achieves; as proven by the response to people very civilly telling those people to stop because the champ wasn’t buffed.

Heck, I’ve finished my achieves and I’m not going to go back to Kessex Hills to kill those champs. If I want champs – QD has more karma and FGS has better loot!

Why does a zone going “evil” always involve it becoming ugly as frick though? I guess I would have thought the Nightmare Court would be more likely to influence a garden of poisonous to the touch plants and colorful flowers with sharp painful barbs than dead and burned Orr-like desolation. I suppose that’s the Krait’s contribution, right?

Either way, it makes me not want to go to that zone or spend time doing much of anything there. There are more interesting ways to change a zone that don’t involve dark, grungy, dead “corruption”.

Indeed. Solo should be an option for people who prefer it (though why are they playing an MMO in the first place?), but solo should not be enforced, this is a MULTI-PLAYER game.

Ouch. How does that work with this instance? It wasn’t terribly kitten my Guardian but I can imagine it being brutal on a light armor. Especially one under level 80 and not in optimal gear.

And you seem to think there’s some hidden agenda to remove male heroes from Guild Wars 2 when there isn’t. Stop with your crusade, there is no female master plan to destroy male characters in GW2.

You seem to want more men not out of a genuine desire for equality but because it makes you happier and out of some misguided belief you need an equal amount of men for a story to be interesting, relatable and engaging.

It is not outrageous to ask for a least a couple of decent male lead heroes to accompany the current female heavy cast.

Did you ever think that maybe Anet decided to do this to stand out from other male character oriented games?

I really like Lord Faren because he’s a fop – a lovable one, I also adore Mad King Thorn, Logan Thackery, Rytlock and just about every male character I’ve met aside from Evon and Trahearne.

It just doesn’t make sense that the one sex that most gamers can relate with (males) are practically non-existent in recent living story. So much so that the there aren’t enough of them to go around for the female characters to be straight even if they wanted to.

In other words:

Its not female gamers don’t matter.
Its that male gamers still do.

This is probably the most ignorant thing I’ve read all day.

If you can’t relate to a character because they don’t have a dingle and aren’t the same sex or gender as you, then fantasy games probably aren’t something you should be playing given the emphasis on.. well.. fantasy. How do you relate to anything that isn’t a straight male human?

And the dig about sexuality and suggesting it’s a choice (women don’t become lesbians because there aren’t enough men) is gross. There are plenty of men in Tyria, just because they aren’t in the spotlight 24/7 doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Given that Anet isn’t shy about sexualities other than heterosexuality – I’d wager some of those men would be bi, gay, pan, or asexual and not just existing to be with Tyria’s females or to be your role models.

This is my issue with the abundance of females taking up the major roles. No balance.

In F&F you had the dimwit Braham and the much smarter Rox. We had some balance there but still favoured the females as far as competence is concerned.

Then things went heavily skewed towards female heroes – there was Kiel (female) that was used as the main point of contact through a few patches.

Now its moved on to Scarlet (female) as the main driving force behind the next LS arch. But it overlaps with Kiel (female) investigating the pirates and Marjory (female) tracking down the killer (who happens to be… another female)

Faren is there for comic relief and is a bit of an idiot. Nice male representation there.

Scarlet (female) turns up again and you accompany Caithe (female) through TA.

Currently we have Scarlet (female) + Krait (leaders are Priestesses – females) + NC (leader Faolain – female) and on the shore overlooking this are Kasmeer, Marjory, Dolja, Mykala, Senna and Kari (all females)

I like that Anet are willing to give major roles to females, I have no issue with that. But currently there isn’t a male in sight, nor has there been for a while. Unless you think Canach who we encountered once in a small cave is enough to balance out the ratio. Which it isn’t.

one of my friends got this 23/24 bug. He has double checked 3 times with different guides.

The thing that seems common with ppl who has the bug is that they did a few obelisk before one of the hotfixes and then after that.

So my guess is if the hotfix got in between while you were doing it, your progress might get broken.

Not for me, I didn’t start until after the last update and did it in one sitting.

It’s a step back from the full cover-up sets (which happens to take up the majority of female heavy armors) and gives people some more variety.

Now if Anet decides to follow this theme, then we’d have a problem. So far they’ve been rather good at keeping it more realistic than the stereotypical nonsense you might see in other MMOs. So kudos to that.

Frankly, this upset behavior over something as minor as one set being so different, is indeed faceplam worthy.

If the male armor was also skimpy, you wouldn’t hear half of these complaints but instead, we get… whatever the heavy armor is supposed to be.. and it doesn’t stop there, some of the other gem store armors are just as bad.

The wiki shows 24 and I have yet to see any more obelisks. Care to point out one that is not listed?

I’m interested in this as well. Having more than 24 locations would fix the bug for a lot of players so please, share where the others are.

Stuck at 23/24 myself. I made certain to visit all 24 sites and transcribe all 24 shards. Some kitten nicely dragged an enemy into me while I was transcribing one and I’m pretty sure that’s the one that didn’t count.

I don’t have time tonight to revisit every site all over again but I will just to prove I have transcribed them all and the achieve is glitched.

Not being sarcastic, no for reals, where are they??? i’ll pay for some nice revealing male plate armor, and ill pay double if it is all plant-y so that it mixes well with my sylvari

No, no, where is the male “sexy” version of the light starter armor? Where they have a tiny skirt and a garter on one leg. And where are the ball windows? The thongs? The stockings and man panty shots? The only thing that comes close is the Seraph armor you can get in Kessex Hills.

I’d go for that if the male armors had the same options – let’s see some “sexy” and impractical male armors.

There are several armors when men have their entire chest exposed. (actually looks cool too) Can we get that for women? =P

The male chest is not considered sexual or as sexual as female breasts but nice try.

If you want a “fair trade”, women can have full topless if men are allowed no pants.

actually that’s not true either. Women find suits as sexy as men find cleavage but nice try. & as RyuDragnier said, it doesn’t work that way with men either.

I suppose in your mind if women wear no pants men have to rip off their skin?

I guess I’m not a woman then or maybe straight women don’t find suits as arousing as straight men find bare breasts. Hmn..
