The way I read it: you need enough active guild members who bought the expansion AND join in a quest (probably simular to completing a dungeon) to touch that crystal. So, suppose you have a small guild of real friends, lets say 10 in total, and only the guild leader and 2 others buy the expansion, your guild will probably be unable to complete the quest, because its too hard for such a small group. And IF you complete it anyway, the other 7 cannot join the new guildhall since they don’t own the expansion.
…Keep the customer satisfied. No matter what it takes. Old rule. The customer is Always right!
Well the screen does not minimize for me, just turns black with the cursor still active and music playing. Happened just once more at Tequatl.
Alright… Don’t chill, get HoT! Could be a nice game after all, or?? ;-)

It’s not a bonus. If you like to take advantage of the ‘free’ core game, than the best option is to start a new account, and use the old one to support the new one.
Rather not :/ Already hate it with all the fractal things, I only do the daily contribution on the maps I play. If you like jumping, go outsite and do it on the street! :P

Why is everyone comparing to WoW? GW is much closer to Diablo 3, and THAT expansion costs like 26 euro. Anyway, I don’t want to compare at all. Just look at the content, and at this moment I would say: 19,99 euro is reasonable. Not much more.
Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

Since the core game is included it would be reasonable to create 4 empty chr. slots for every account where the expansion is added.
No matter the arguments used pro and con, I think the only thing which matters is the price. Giving new players the core game for free? Fine, but 50 euro for an expansion is… Very expensive! Stating that ‘veterans’ have the benefit of lots of experience and gameplay only makes this worse: that is exactly why they should not pay so much for some extra content. Indeed, now the anouncement is made, nothing will change. However, the price WILL drop after the release. That’s only a matter of time. Patience is a virtue
This has been happening a long time with ore nodes. They appear for just a second on the minimap, than disappear. One time I was near enough to actually SEE the node appear: it was a raw candycorn node. Than it vanished.
Happens to me too, 3 times during last week; seems random.
Hmmm, but isn’t this expansion only? I mean, vanilla players won’t get expansion skills, so not everything can change in the core game…
No. Errr… ehm too wild. No! (just watched Vampire diaries anyway hehe)
No matter how many players love it, simply the fact that so many don’t make that this was a bad idea. It’s a combination of things which some people annoy: the plane crash, parody of a crucifixion lane just before Easter, sounds & graphics… All unintended, but next time think twice Arenanet! (now where is my bunny with 7 ecto’s when I consume it??)

Sometimes I feel like people don’t pay attention to information before going off on a rant in a forum like this.
The opp has participated in the stresstest, so we can assume he knows what he’s talking about. Anyway, from an Expansion we expect lots of new playgrounds (maps), new chr’s with new skills and traits, lots of new goodies and quests. What we Don’t need is more Living Story. Because that’s already part of the core game and should be continuated even without Expansion. So yes, the Opp may have a point if nothing else was playtested.

What I understand from the blog is that you need to do the daily’s to get the materials needed to craft legendarys. This includes jumping puzzels and mini dungeons. Which I never do. Looks to me that the main issue for creating legendarys is not adressed: (too) much time consuming to make it worth the very small statistic advantages in gameplay. That being said: I hope this is not the major bonus for buying HOT…
Today I’m being disconnected quite frequently. It happens when I’m away for a short period of time to answer the Phone, open the door, making coffee… Is this coincidence, a bug or delibirate?
What items should that be? I’d like to know that.
I don’t think that it will treated equally, because S2 is permanent, so there’s no need to wrap something up for laurels if there’s another way to get it.
These:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Laurel_Merchant#Living_World_Season_1_Rewards
Randulf: I don’t know, played season 2 occasionally, so I was wondering if the complete list will be for sale at the laurel vendor for laurels and some gold, like in the season 1 list.
After season 1 ended, players who missed the fun could buy season 1 items at the laurel vendor. They still can. Now season 2 has ended I wonder if / when season 2 items will become for sale at the Laurel vendor.
Well… Given the upcoming Expansion I think those in charge of Anet want to know what’s worth putting time, money, effort in on the excisting gameworld. In other words: where do we focus on, what can be skipped? Than we have devs who put much energy in parts of the game that do not have much players: Particular maps, quests, etc. So obviously feedback is needed. The dailies are a way to encourage players to do things they normally don’t. A last chance for unpopular content?
Ok, this has taken long enough. By now it should be clear that some content never will be popular (e.g. Fractals). So stop pushing it and face the consequence: report back to management and let them put it on low priority. And focus on things players really like!
The ‘E’ in PvE stands for environment. Meaning the explorable world. Fractals are just a puzzle sideboard. Has nothing to do with the world map. So no, that should NOT belong to the PvE daylies. True explores will always ignore mini games like this.
I don’t know if the adjustments proposed by the opp really would make it possible to solo dungeons (and I don’t mean the way some players already solo now, but more like it was in a lot of GW 1 dungeon environments). But I do like the idea! This is a part of the content some players never experience simply because they don’t like the hassle of creating a party, running around in a group of players without a way to pause for a while. Not to mention the complaining when you don’t perform the way others want you to. So yes! And if it’s not possible for excisting dungeons, then maybe it can be done for future content.
In Sparkly Fenn we can help Ayomichi slow down the spread of Risen corruption by bringing him Corrupted Stomps. My chr. did this long ago but today I notice the fields are full of corrupted stomps once more, with the msg. to bring them to Ayomichi. Doing so does not trigger the quest again, I get the thanks briefing for completing – as it should be. But the stomps should not re-appear for players who already completed this…
I suppose it will cost between 20-30 euro’s. Than yes, I’ll buy…
This is called the FIRST expansion… So who knows?
Why the hassle? Only the light armor looks great. The heavy: well shiny, but there are other heavy chest armors which can replace this easily; the medium – just ugly.
The main reason is that it hardly effects PvE. Group events will still be succesful in a full map if everyone knows what he/she needs to do, and those who play solo (mostly for grinding, mining) will hardly notice any difference.
What will happen if Hot is not Xpac? Nothing special. Most players will stay but lose interest slowly, causing less income for Anet. And they will react by freezing the game and keep it up for a few years with a few small updates. Than move on to other games.
A Monk please! I already have the outfit
This is going on for almost 2 months now. I know Gaile has reported our opinions. Just wondering what Anet is doing with her feedback. Will there be any changes coming up?
Nice pics, Demarca. Yes, Anet, make it happen! :P
Personally I would like it if you are rebooted from a (full) map, your entry on that servermap is saved for the next 2 or 3 minutes so you get back on exactly the same servermap if you relog in – in time. In other words: rebooted players cannot be replaced by new ones during that period of time because they get a chance to get back within a time frame.
It’s simply evolution of the game. Does it serve a purpose? I think not. As for me Anet may reset the original gameworld after every season, While keeping the new maps. Is it important?
(…Snip)
(1) PVP, WWW-put them together . They understand, and are properly geared, for fighting their fellow players
(2) Dungeon, and Fractals-Let the Dungeon and Fractal crowd earn dailies while doing the game mode they enjoy the best.
(3) Open World PVE-Let them Gather, climb Vistas, Raise the Dead, and do Orange Circle missions to their hearts content.
Good suggestion!
Please don’t add Fractals to daily anymore! It’s only a sideboard game and has nothing at all to do with PvE. Anet, if you really insist: make a new section called ‘Dungeons’ and add them there!
Not sure if trolling. How are Fractals (and dungeons) not PvE? Just because they may be less casual or easymode PvE does not mean they are not PvE.
On the other hand, I would be all for adding an additional 4th category for the dailies (Fractals/Dungeons in addition to WvW, PvP, and Open World PvE) so there were 16 total to choose from. In exchange, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to ask for 4 tasks to be completed instead of 3.
I’m sure there are many dungeon runners who would not enjoy PvP/WvW, and are also bored to death at the thought of gathering wood or spamming 1 at events.
You are missing the point: a lot of PvE players play solo and only team up for events like Teqatl on an open map. And no, it would not be reasonable to ask for 4 tasks instead of 3 for the same reason: We ONLY play (solo) PvE, and have no other choice to make.

Living story changes parts all over Tyria. Mostly the scars in the landscape stay after the story moves on. I suppose it’s not different for LA. But yes, it would be nice to have this place restored in a way that all functions are restored around a central place where we enter the town.
Albadaran, if you logged into game any time a LS chapter was active, you don’t have to pay, it’s unlocked for your account’s alts forever, even alts you haven’t made yet. The only people who must pay are those who were absent from the game during the time that LS was active.
Ah, ok. Thanks for the info
Hmmm? I Always skipped those stories because I assumed I could play them later when I have a lot of time (hollidays). Paying gems to play content sounds rediculous since I play most content to earn enough gold to GET gems lol! It’s not the story I’m interested in, its the rewards. Oh well, just wait until season 2 rewards are for sale at the laurel vendor I suppose…
I would be less harsh on them about an expansion if only the world had something new for me to discover that i didnt play, see or interact with.
The world is far too small and the areas that are level 80 are just 2 if u exclude dry top and silverwastes….hmm I disagree with that. The new maps are really well thinked and I know it means lot of work for dev team. Good job with that! Its really another level of game map developing. Dry Top could keep you attracted for a long time and Silverwastes can do that too. Its multilevel masterpiece if you really explored it good and pay attention to details. Dynamic Events work very well – these maps are best achiev of last year.
The problem is we need something more than that and much more faster. So it means ArenaNet need to hire another good dev teams to deliver. Team for dungeons, team for fractals, big team for WvW, hardcore team for GvG, team for Guild Halls, team for new pvp maps, etc.
You can deliver that if you have money to pay those people for they work. There is already good team for story, pve map creating and excellent team for graphics and new 3d models. But thats not enough to keep such big project as GW2 alive for years.
Thats why I think expansion would be such a financial boost to pay those ppl.
What expansion should bring? I will repeat myself. Things that are vital to the game and asked not only in forums but in game chat, guild chat, reddit, etc.
- new dungeons and fractals
- new elite skills, utility skills and new weapons or weapons mods that change single weapon skill
- Guild Halls
- GvG – my suggestion: WvW for 10-15 players on smaller maps (guild halls?) with many objectives, forcing teamwork, npcs, etc.
- improved sPvP – my suggestion: new Hero Ascent mode for team PvP (5-6 players), existing maps for solo PvP (random) + new maps
- mounts
- WvW is so unique and great that its a shame how its developing. This mode needs epic team that can unleash its potential. WvW looks so deserted, last season was sad, ppl are bored to the bone. WvW needs attention!
- legendary weapons were goal for players for a long time, why not make another legendary weapons and armors?
- hardcore difficulity content for best players. Something you need try for several hours in good team to complete. Elite instance with extreme level of difficulity with acc bound elite rewards (awarded only once with normal chest afterwards?)
- and kitten – make weapons dyeable…
I agree. Anet did some great things with the latest lvl 80 maps. Yet the things mentioned above are really worth an expansion. I would gladly buy it!!
Yes, I’d like to see some new offers (storage expander, viper set, magitech set… )
Ok to summarize a lot of what’s been saying:
Dailies are done for the 10 achievement points. Not for fun. Even those who play the new dailies often admit that its not for the fun. Especially the PvE dailies are subject of criticisms. Mostly because of the lack of choice. Obvious solution:
Give us more choice!! Instead of 3 out of 4 make it 3 out of 10! Everyone happy!
I skipped most of them. Being a PvE solo player I don’t don’t do fractals and that festivity thingy ‘get those legs moving???’ ehm, why is that considered PvE at all?? Anyway, it does not matter. I play the maps I like. But I DO notice I play less than before this change. Apperently I used to spend some extra time when I had a chr. on a specific daily map to complete it. But in the new system this only happende twice. So I skipped the rest.
You can do the 3 PvE in 15 minutes usually. For 10 AP. You have 100% sure chest if you login. How on Earth can this be bad?
That is not true! I never did Fractals (and have no mind to change that) so that is no option. Champions: What map and when do they spawn? Clueless. Exotic crafter? Sorry, but I’m not going to spend lots of expensive material for something I don’t need – and takes ages to sell without a loss.
Anyway, after today’s daily I feel a bit lost: again exotic crafter, Fractal and Shiverpeaks miner for pve? I had thought that the whole idea was to force players to see different parts of the game world. Apparently I was wrong. If there is no more to chose from, than why not set back the old pve dailies? Same variety, and everyone satisfied!
Thing is that in the current system PvE players need to do 1 or 2 things they dislike. Like doing quests on a map they normally don’t visit, slaying a boss they never heard of (where? timer??), or even fractals (which has nothing to do with PvE at all!). Of course we can just skip it (I did today) and forget about it. The rewards are not that great at all. But its another thing we liked which is gone…
I somehow have to agree with the opp. Everyone should be able to complete a set of daylies fit for his/her style of gameplay. Today solo PvE players without a level 80 chr. could not do that. As a reminder today’s ‘solo’ PvE achievements:
-Ascalon vista viewer (easy)
-Kryta lumberer (easy)
-Silverwaste event (lvl 80 map)
I don’t count the fractal thingy; Fractals are basically a special kind of dungeon, only to be done in a party.
So this is it.
I notice lots of fanboys & -girls argueing that there are rewards enough. But that is not the point. The whole idea of the new system was to give everyone equal chances, which is obviously not the case.
I don’t know how the new system will turn out to be. Looks like the examples are just… well examples. If I understand this correctly content to be completed for the daily will be more personalized. Anyway, as a PvE player I know one thing for sure: we all have our favourite maps to play, and we don’t like to switch maps for completing a daily. So if THAT is the objective, it will fail.
Somehow this all feels like an attempt to show management that enough people still log in every day on different maps and that there is no reason to cut down expenses on this game. Yet.
When looking for dyes in the store we have the option to preview it on our chr. I would like to see this option for all dyes in the game, including account bound dyes. Now I simply have no clue what is available outside the store, and what other dyes are worth gathering. So what about a dye preview option for ALL dyes in the game??
What will happen when the banker expires before the fix? Do we get a new one?
