I am continually disconnecting from the log in server. When I am in game my guild tab is not working correctly. Sometimes I am in a one man guild with myself other times it just shows random amount of members online and what not.
I am in a group that is doing a dungeon. I run into the dungeon for a minute or two before I disconnect. When I disconnect they see me running into a wall yet on my screen I am moving around normally except I can’t activate skills or interact with NPCs. I can still see what my friends are doing including when they are looking at my body running into a wall or getting killed. I can watch them fight mobs but none of the mobs actually load in for me.
I am talking to them on voice chat and I am going through websites. I haven’t had a single connection problem with the voice chat or while online except for on this website.
I have restarted my computer, router and modem in every order.
I can only assume that whatever server my character is on is having issues. Is anyone have having similar problems? Anything else I should try in order to fix it?
Attended x2/ lootx1/ no mail
Tried to do the event with people who got on later in an overflow but the servers were taken down in the middle of it.
Very well played but I must say I sense a nerf upcoming for a certain class.
If all it took was the top 1% of the skilled players making a video like this to get a class nerfed then balance would fall apart in seconds. The fact is you can’t balanced on players like this as you will only hurt the majority. I bet this guy could solo lupicus on a variety of professions if you gave him time and incentive.
Hats off sir. Very impressive focus and precision.
Alderune’s Last Stand would match the colors and theme well.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Alderune%27s_Last_Stand
Jormag’s Breath has the glowing blue.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jormag%27s_Breath
The Lionguard Sword is a good match if a little steriotypical and boring but with that shield who cares.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lionguard_Sword
However personally I think the Winged Spatha would look the coolest.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Winged_Spatha.jpg
Warriors should have this ability baked into the profession.
Couldn’t agree more.
Why is that not a complaint?
Because it does not cause me pain or dissatisfaction or resentment.
I don’t have stake in either outcome.
I still think that a Stability active is so much better than a Retaliation/Weakness active. Whether or not a warrior has a better option for stability (balanced stance) is another subject, but still. I don’t think the two signets can really be compared, since one’s strength is in its passive and one is in its active.
That’s not really my concern. If the passive for their signet needs to be improved that’s for Arena Net to decide. I am merely asking if there is a major flaw in the dolyak signet or if it is working as intended.
the Guardian’s signet gives an indifferent damage reduction (%10), whereas Dolyak gives 90 toughness (definitely NOT 10% damage reduction)…just like the signets he linked.
Read the wording. Dolyak signet says it reduces incoming damage, the same as signet of judgment, not that it raises toughness.
Well yes. I agree to that. But I thought the complaint was between SoJ and DS.
This is not a complaint if a developer came into this thread right now and said that the wording for the Doylak signet was off and should say “raises toughness” meaning that it is functioning correctly right now then that’s fine. I simply won’t use it. My question to developers is it the wording or the functionality that is incorrect? Either way it should be fixed.
The other signet also give only 90 Toughness, the Guardian one is the only exception:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Earth
- Passive: Improves toughness.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Stone
- Passive: Improves toughness for you and your pet.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dolyak_Signet
- Passive: Reduces incoming damage.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Judgment
- Passive: Reduces incoming damage.
All of those should get a 10% damage reduction.
Read the wording.
Those very clearly state that they improve your toughness.
Dolyak and Judgment are seperate. They are meant to reduce incoming damage for people playing a heftier style soldier class.
Signet of Judgement has an Active and Passive that is effective for reducing damage yet offer different pros and cons. It’s a perfect example of a solid design for a signet.
Couldn’t agree more. Maybe with some attention the mistake will be corrected with the upcoming update.
I’m just not entirely convinced that it’s intended. They’ve said that they wanted skills to be impactful and meaningful. That’s why there are less than in the original Guild Wars and why there isn’t cross classing.
At release they combined two traits to give us Shield Master which gave us +90 toughness when using a shield AND 20% less cool down. Guardian still had those traits seperated at launch. Later on it was correct.
I would like to be optimistic and believe that is what happened here in vice versa as well. Our signet is likely meant to be a 10% damage reduction.
Dolyak Signet:
Passive: Reduces incoming damage.
Actual in game effect: +90 toughness (level 80)
Signet of Judgment:
Passive: Reduces incoming damage.
Actual in game effect: 10% damage reduction (10% = 289 toughness)
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/60838-math-damage-reduction-toughness-and-vitality/
Is that a flaw? They are the same wording.
90 toughness is pretty pathetic.
Awesome find!
Thanks! I love exploring the game world there are so many little details to find.
I’ll take a look at the text and see if I can translate anything in the next few days.
I love the lore forums.
Very cool perhaps will have something to do with future content leading to Crystal Desert? Anything having to do with Ebonhawk screams “Crystal Desert Incoming” to me ^__^
There is a door in there that leads to an area off map. That’s also the area where a little girl says she saw a Charr run from and then vanish in a field.
Could it have anything to do with the guy from GoA? I don’t remember specifics but he was an asura in Ebonhawke, perhaps his krewe decided to take over his lab space or something
It makes sense that they would at least some what be connected.
^There was an asura named Kranxx that worked with the Vigil and had a lab in Ebonhawke. I believe he destroyed most of his lab to provide a distraction when the group slipped out of the fortress though. His krewe may have moved in and rebuilt a bit of it.
Interesting. It looks like it was actually hit by siege but it would make sense if they set up a temporary lab elsewhere while rebuilding it.
Hey everyone! I can help you with the writings on the floor. You can find that type of writing almost everywhere you can find Asuran tech, its on walls, floors, ceilings, flying cubes and cannons. I’ve screenshotted a bunch of them and found out it always says the same message. You can find my complete translation of this asuran and many other things here : http://www.chroniclesoftyria.com/2012/08/29/history-of-the-asuras/
Extremely helpful! Thanks for your hard work! Super cool, I never noticed that it was everywhere.
I love when the lore forums are positive and helpful. Asura have a really cool culture. I guess their text have less of a chance to be lost if it’s literally on everything.
Ebonhawk. A dangerous city where everyone has to carry a sword. Resting place of Gwen Thackery.
But in a dark corner stands a golem on watch.. if you slip past him you will see an interesting room as you enter.. an unwelcoming Asura named Delka will try to persuade you to leave. Asuran lab equipment stands out like a sore thumb amongst the human architecture.
On the left a puzzling cube emitting a creepy windy sound and an eerie bright white light.
Enter further and you will see her apprentices in the corner but.. turn around and that eerie white light reveals the reflection something written on the entire floor.
Has anyone found this place yet? What’s the deal?
Any clever experts around want to try and decipher it?
Thanks, Also what is the most uncommon mix?
For race and profession?
Charr Mesmer.
If you are coming from WoW you may want to consider something like a Guardian specced for toughness and vitality. Guild Wars 2 is a very different game combat-wise. It’s about movement and position. Only a Guardian can really stand in one place (in fact if you focus on symbols you need to stay still).
It works. Saves my skin in fractals on a regular basis. 25% just isn’t very much health most of the time if you start getting that low you get killed before you hit 25%.
Defy pain should be altered to proc if, for example, you get taken from 30% to 0% and prevent you from dying immediately I believe that is the true flaw in the trait.
That and endure pain is currently not running for the full 5 seconds.
The overall event was great.
Making it a goal to create world altering events makes the universe feel like it’s alive and breathing.
However it wasn’t perfect. I felt like it came with a concerning amount of bugs which may be an indication of moving content along too quickly.
The one time event was awesome in theory but in practice it didn’t alter the world in a significant enough way, in my opinion, to make it worth being a one time deal. The frustrating it brought many friends was unfortunate.
I really enjoyed the rewards it’s helped balance out the economy by lowering the price of precursors for those who have been saving and giving money to those who sold precursors thus allowing them to distribute the money in the market. Overall I’ve seen a very positive effect from this.
Sparknotes:
One time events should only happen if they are actually going to permanently impact the world in a meaningful way
Named exotic and precursor reward has been healthy for the economy
The Elder Dragons aren’t evil, they are a comparable to destructive forces of nature.
They awaken, consume and destroy. We only consider them evil because we are trying to preserve the world. They are no more evil than humans eating fruit, vegetables; organic life.

Overdone topic is overdone.
Oh the painful irony.
Dhuum’s never connected to ice, Grenth was even before being a god, when he was a mere half-god
If that’s true I was unaware. What are you basing that off of?
Furthermore, while Dwayna brings life, Grenth brings
It’s based on where the power originated from not neccesarily what’s been done with it later on. So we’re speaking of Dhuum not Grenth since that’s as far back as we know it goes.
And nothing states that ice must always have had a god
This theory is based off the gods supplementing their power with the dragon’s. I’m saying ice didn’t always have a god rather that Dhuum or whoever came before him brought that power into his fold.To me Zhaitan’s pattern is preservation even if it’s not as pretty as Dwayna.
Zhaitan is not only the undeath dragon, but also the Elder Death Dragon.
I wasn’t aware they had official titles. Where are those listed at?
A lot of people keep talking about how my match ups are wrong. That’s fine.
I’m not set on who could math up with who, however, that’s not what the theory hinges on. The theory is that the gods gained power and control over new aspects through somehow manipulating the power emanating from the dragons.
If you have a different opinion like people have given in this thread previously I continue to welcome it.
I fail to see a connection between Lyssa and Kralkatorrik
Energy storage in crystals, chaotic corruption of everything he breathed on rather than targeted corruption of individuals and patterns of chaotic storm energy similiar to mesmer abilities.
Lyssa is two beings, so this kind of harms the theory too, since it’s no longer 1-to-1 god-to-dragon, but now 2-to-1 in her regards. To keep your theory up, we’d need a seventh dragon and are required to figure out where Lyss’s domain ends, and Ilya’s begins..
Once again, it’s not based on who matches up with who. That’s open to interpretation and debate.
this would be my best guess for who would match up with each dragon
draconic energies are outright stated to be 100% unique by Zojja in accordance to Snaff and the Inquest’s research – this includes being unique to the known divine magic which powers certain statues of the gods, such as the ones throughout Orr…
I think this goes to show that they are, indeed, of separate origins.
That is a kitten (meow) fine point. My response to this won’t satisfy you nor should it. My theory is based on gods borrowing power from the dragon not that it was their only source. The communication ports the gods set up on Tyria seem like something unique to the gods. The power of the dragons seems to be control over certain aspects of Tyria instead.
Draconic energy, unique unto the Elder Dragons
2) Divine energy, unique to the Six Gods, Spirits of the Wild, and titans (side note: all of these beings come from the Mists)
One energy brought from the mists and use for certain things another gained from dragons and used to manipulate Tyria.
Regardless, I think you have a fair and strong point and I hope it doesn’t get lost. I’ve never tried to sell this theory as hard evidence of some new find rather a fun theory that I found interesting based on connection I had made in my head. What I love about the lore forums is you can bring up a topic that seems simple and it can turn into a discussion that leaves you even more educated in the lore. Sometimes wild theories like this get filled in further and bring more to light other times they only serve to educate on other aspects of the lore. I have no stake in either outcome and will be satisfied either way.
Definitely points to Bubble’s champion.
Personally…
…the connection between the two is that the gods search the realms in the mists for races with “potential”, abduct them, bring them to tyria, guide them, nurture them, and when the dragons are about to awake, leave.
Now that is interesting. I’ve always felt that for whatever reason the gods were hiding from the dragons. Their timing is just too convenient. If the dragons can consume powerful magic sources then the gods would be targets. They would be better off spreading magic out between millions of organisms and making sure they know how to use it.
Is there a single instance of any being using the dragon’s power that hasn’t been wholly corrupted?
I already gave an instance of it at nearly the start of my post.
“Theory: The human gods somehow harnessed the raw energy of dragons while the dragons slumbered, just like the Asura did…”
“Polestar to the vast wheel of Asura Gates, the Central Transfer Chamber is a magical and architectural marvel constructed atop a major pocket of magical energy. The Asura channel that raw power to fuel all the gates in the network and link them together via this great crossroads of transport. Most of the major gates across Tyria lead to this location.”
“Primordus was the first of the Elder Dragons to awaken in Tyria. Primordus’ original resting place was in a cavern deep underground, where it was assumed by the asura to simply be a statue emitting a high amount of magical energy. For this reason, they built the Central Transfer Chamber near the dragon.”
(edited by Alexander.4827)
what i’m saying is based on lore. i don’t like “what ifs”, because you can “what if” anything.
the closest you have is Grenth, which was born “half god” (which means he didn’t start from scratch, and already had god powers upon birth, and was likely ‘born’ in full adult form)
It doesn’t say that in the lore, you’re making a what if.
Yeah everything stacks.
I’ve got regeneration from signet, adrenaline and rune passively. Then the boon regeneration stacks on top of that.
i’m not saying they were never human.
But that’s exactly what you said.
human gods were never previously humans, with the exception of Kormir.
Also, we know for sure that Grenth was already half human and that the gods themselves chose Kormir to join their clique.
I’m not convinced the rest of the gods are human exactly since they seem far more advanced then the humans they brought over but it’s not exactly unlikely either. We know they can at least breed with humans and their image is presented as human-like.
- “remember this: with the humans came the human gods. the human gods were not in tyria before the humans, they arrived together. THAT is my proof.”
So your thought is they wherever they came from they were always as powerful as they are now and considered gods.
- “. if humans came to tyria much after the first elder dragon attack, then so did the gods. and as far as lore takes us, the gods have always been gods, since way before they sat foot in the planet.”
It wasn’t the first elder dragon attack just the previous in a long cycle.
- “so now you’re implying that the gods have been dragging the dragons around”
No. My theory was based off of them gaining power from the dragons not that they were their only source of power.
- “you’ve presented a theory: the gods were once humans that harvested the power of the dragons.”
This is the third time you’ve put words in my mouth. I never said I thought the gods were humans. Here is my exact theory again:
Theory: The human gods are somehow harnessed the raw energy of dragons while the dragons slumbered, just like the Asura did, which explains why their power has waned during the awakening of the dragons. Perhaps they were even weakening and prolonging the awakening of the dragons by doing so.
- “This is most likely going to getting drowned in other posts and nobody will listen to me, but…”
Don’t worry fellow lore person when I said I welcomed all discussion on this topic I meant it no matter the tone.
- “Case closed, theory destroyed. End of story.”
Oh well in that case-
- “BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!!”
Oh case rep-opened, gotcha.
- “There is evidence for this is Orr. They actually state several times about this.”
“Evidence shows there was six or is six and that it is possible Kuunavang represents a celestial elder dragon.”
That’s really interesting and I’d love to read it myself and further learn about the lore. Would you share your evidence?
- “it’s well stated in lore, throughout multiple races, that the humans and their gods first reached Tyria by sailing, and that if you match the humans’ arrival in tyria with the last sighting of the elder dragons, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of years separating the events.”
Exactly, there is a clear timeline. the elder dragons were around long before the gods.
“Ancient jotun stelae indicate that throughout prehistory, the elder dragons have gone through cycles of awakening, destruction, and hibernation, each time ending an era of life in Tyria and bringing forth a new one. As contact with other continents has been severed, it is not known whether or not the elder dragons are unique to the continent of Tyria. However, the records surviving from the previous cycle mention only six dragons.”
“What knowledge we have of the elder dragons comes from the survivors of the previous cycle of awakening, over 11,000 years ago. During that time, the dragons are believed to have caused the extinction of the Giganticus Lupicus, along with most life on Tyria.”
Timeline :
786 BE Humans appear in Cantha for the first time and settle the northern coastline before spreading completely across the continent. Their development is unhindered by the Forgotten.
10,000 BE Last of the Giganticus Lupicus, the Great Giants, disappear from the Tyrian continent.
Humans showed up after the last elder dragon attack.
- “first they were in Cantha, then Elona, and only then Tyria, where the 3 kingdoms were initially colonies of these foreign places.
what you’re trying to deny”
I am not denying how the humans spread across Tyria.
I am questioning how that is proof that the gods “were gods before the dragons were even a thing”.
- _"whichever way the gods obtained their power, it was completely and utterly unrelated to the elder dragons."
That is likely true however there is no certainty which is why there are room for fun theories. No one knows how the gods obtained their power not even you. I don’t claim that my theory is the definite answer either which I went into in the original post.
- “the power of the gods exists even when they are beyond the elder dragons’ reach (read: in cantha or elona)”
Where does it say that? Yes, the dragons are currently on the continent of Tyria but where is this proof that they have some sort of invisible border they can’t cross? Cantha is called the empire of the dragon and Kuunavang was in Cantha. That leans towards dragon influence in Cantha.
In fact Glint was even in the Crystal Desert which is connected to Elona and Kralkatorrik is in the desert now.
- “they are born with that power (see grenth, a half god who ascended to godhood after defeating the previous god of death, dhuum)”
Grenth was born a half god and gained Dhuum’s power when he defeated him so he wasn’t born with the power he has today.
- “and their power hasn’t “waded”. they simply left. and they left during nightfall (which, BTW, has a human become a god without having to sap any dragon magic), years before the first sign of elder dragon activity (destroyers).”
I shouldn’t have used that wording. I don’t know what’s happened to them or their power anymore than you do. That aside:
First, this isn’t the first nor the second time the dragons have awoken but simply one of many times in a long cycle. Second, it was only three years before earthquakes erupted across Tyria that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t destroyers didn’t start slowly waking before that.
It was Eir’s decision to proceed without Logan.
I do think Logan is often whiny, over protective of Jennah and annoying but all they had to do was wait or even help Logan and then go back to hunting down Kralkatorrik*. It’s not like Kralkatorrik was going anywhere.
It’s fascinating how the general player base has chosen to focus on Logan’s decision rather than Eir’s.
*Fixed
(edited by Alexander.4827)
- _"remember that magic in this game is like gasoline. you can’t obtain it and just keep it. you’re constantly spending it, and if the source ends, the magic stops working. that’s why once the destroyers started appearing on the central transfer chamber, the asuras designed a new asura gate system that did NOT need that power from primordus."
That is my point. The Asura harnessed Primordius power until he awoke and then they couldn’t use it. That is one of my connections. The god’s influence and power waned when the dragons awoke. Also, the Asura built their civilization on top of a new existing one. We don’t know what sources they are harnessing.
- “and one more thing: humans came to tyria from south of cantha. the elder dragons are in tyria. the humans, and their gods, sailed from cantha and elona towards tyria, and settled there. that piece of lore matches not only human lore, but charr lore too, so unless they’re both lying, the gods were gods before the dragons were even a thing.”
That is a big leap to make. The Charr as a culture aren’t one of the oldest to exist. Look to the Dwarves and Jotun who both reference a time when the human gods weren’t even active on Tyria and when they survived the dragons awaking last time there was no hint of the human gods being active.
If the human gods were so powerful why did they need to sail?
- ““pretty important/powerful dudes” that come from another realm and single handedly brought the entire human race from another planet, into tyria. “pretty important/powerful dudes” that come from the mists and have the power to create entire dimensions to call theirs.”
The extent of their powers is not known, but it is known they are not omniscient, and by their own very nature as a pantheon each is not omnipotent. Also please reference where they created the realms and if they were powerful enough to create these realms why they have such a hard time keeping them. So hard of a time that they have to employ a group of humans to help them battle within it.
The method they brought humans to the world is not known.
The size of the human race when they brought humans to the world is unknown.
- _"the six are worshipped in cantha and elona as well, they didn’t become gods after reaching tyria."
That’s a big leap to make. The gods were active on Tyria before they even brough the gods and the humans were clearly no more sophisticated than the Grawl as stated by the Jotun when they first arrived. Once again the extent of their powers is not known, but it is known they are not omniscient, and by their own very nature as a pantheon each is not omnipotent.
The Grawl can be manipulated into believing an Asura in a skull shaped mountain is a true god. Of course if the gods were interacting with humans since before they even reached Cantha and their goal was to be worshipped they are going to be worshipped from Cantha to wherever else they spread to.
We know the human gods aren’t traditional all powerful gods but rather extremely powerful beings who the humans consider gods.
(edited by Alexander.4827)
Where is it stated that the human gods were considered gods when they brought the humans to Tyria or even what that even means to begin with?
And yes they did trade power around. Grenth took it from Dhuum, then Kormir took Abbadon’s remaining power. Menzies battled Balthazar for power and Balthazar first emerged in Tyria holding his own father’s head which has it’s own implications.
Yes, I agree. I also felt I was making big leaps and tried to acknowledge that within my post. It’s a wild theory but one I felt would be fun to discuss.
- “Kormir didn’t really seem to inherit the water thing from Abaddon’s secretive DSD powers.”
-Azujax
- “also you forgot lyssa, who’s the current keeper of the title “god of water”.”
-BrunoBRS
That is true. She is currently considered having domain over water however my theory was based off how the gods originally got their power. In that scenerio it doesn’t matter how the power was later distributed.
However that actually does mean that I should have also listed Dhuum instead of Grenth. I will correct that.
- " I’ve always seen the dragons as a corrupted and uncontrolled form of the gods."
-Ludovicus
I am actually proposing that the gods are a controlled form of the dragon’s power. I do truly believe the elder dragons were here long before the human gods were.
(edited by Moderator)
No one knows the origins of the power that the human gods use however we do know that it cannot be destroyed out right and that it was important for Kormir to absorb Abbadon’s.
Also, this post assumes that the reader is already well versed in the lore and the relevant theories surrounding it.
Theory: The human gods somehow harnessed the raw energy of dragons while the dragons slumbered, just like the Asura did, which explains why their power has waned during the awakening of the dragons. Perhaps they were even weakening and prolonging the awakening of the dragons by doing so.
Who would match up with who (the fun part)?
Dwayna: Zhaitan
-God of Healing, Air and Life
Abaddon: Bubbles the Deep Sea Dragon
- God of Secrets and Water
Dhuum: Jormag
- God of Death and Ice (Unconfirmed: see below)
Balthazar: Primodius
-God of War and Fire
Melandru: The Pale Tree
- Goddess of Nature and Growth
Lyssa: Kralkatorrik
God of Beauty, Illusion and Energy
- (By the way, you forgot kralkatorrik and lyssa)
If my theory rang true this would be my best guess for who would match up with each dragon. My argument for Dwayna using Zhaitan’s power instead of Grenth is that Grenth’s domain is very clearly stated to be over death and ice. Grenth judges those who have already died. Dwayna is the god of life. She brings people who are dead back. Zhaitan is also a raiser of the dead.
As it was pointed out to me: Lyssa currently holds domain over water however my post was about how the gods originally gained power. In this case Dhuum should have, and now is listed. This does further make this theory less tangible as it’s not stated that Dhuum had domain over ice. I believe that we can assume he did since there has never been any evidence of any other god having domain over ice and Grenth directly replaced Dhuum.
This does however strengthen my theory that Dhuum would not have claimed power from Zhaitan as Dhuum was well known as being against any sort of ressurection or undead creation with his own quote being that death is undeniable.
As for reference to The Pale Tree being an elder dragon: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Elder_Dragon#Zone_Green
This theory hinges on a wild theory that The Pale Tree is an elder dragon but to me it makes a lot of sense. We know the dragons are likely hostile to each other having seen their minions battle against one another. If The Pale Tree’s dominion is over nature itself then she has a vested interest in making sure it stays protected by creating her own minions, the Sylvari, to face against the other dragon’s minions.
I welcome all thoughts on this topic.
- Thanks for the catch!

-It’s not about limiting customization.
-It’s not about preventing classes from wearing incorrect, absurd or mismatched armor.
-It’s about art. It would limit the artist to have to make sure all heavy armor could fit with all cloth armor with limited clipping.
I’m willing to be the artists wish we didn’t have as much customization as we already do because it means it makes it really challenging to create really unique designs.
In depth:
Heavy armor tends to have bulky segmented pieces while cloth and medium armor tend to have longer flowy armor. Most heavy armor boots would flip through medium or light armor leggings.
Building a guild isn’t just about size it’s about who the people are.
The way you described how people talk to you in your guild is ridiculous.
I tell everyone in my guild that they are free to stay as long as they want and when they want to leave they can. If they want to represent a different guild but represent mine I have a whole separate rank made for it called associate.
I’ve stolen many people on accident who started out as associates because they don’t feel like they are being held hostage in my guild.
You are building a community talk to people you are recruiting before you just stuff them into your guild. You can tell if someone is going to be a good fit pretty fast.
This multi-guild system is scary for guilds because it means they have to be the best guild out there in order to keep their members. It keeps guilds trying.
My members get offers from much bigger guilds with lots of upgrades. They practically get bribed to leave but in the end of the day people want to be in a guild where they like the people more than anything else. If there is a strong community there is nothing to worry about.
This is literally the game for some people. Some like dungeons, others exploring and some play the market.
Developers play but they don’t always announce that they are developers! So be nice to everyone you meet! :]
This is the only thing that bugs me. Orr could be a haunting beautiful wasteland with slow lumbering undead everywhere like the animators obviously tried to do with their active and passive animations but somewhere along the way someone thought they needed to move fast with a crazy aggro range so that you never see the passive animations and can’t travel anywhere without them zooming to you with way too fast cripple animations.
I was so surprised and delighted to find out that jumping puzzles existed. I really love them weirdness and all.

Happens to me in any big event. WvW or a World Boss.
Used to be rare but I’ve started doing Claw of Jormag regularly now and it’s happened at some point each time. Sometimes followed by a lock up.
Had some great fights with both HoD and ET. Very fun.
Even shared some nice whispers with people. Seems like both servers have some good people on there.
Cheers!
Been getting this issue a lot lately in WvW.
Initially my sound would just break very rarely and assault my ears until I gave up my WvW spot.
Now if it happens I have about 5 minutes before the whole game freezes and I can expect it to happen if I plan any extended time in WvW.
At this point we don’t find these dungeons to be challenging but just time consuming because of the absurd amount of HP the bosses have.
Exactly. Once you’ve predicted their patters the fights reach an event horizon where all the tension, enthusiasm and excitement goes away. Long predictable fights aren’t exciting they are just time consuming.
The game has such a fun combat system in place I just want bosses to take more advantage of it and less advantage of my time.
Cape/Banner/Cloth Clipping and YOU! Lets brainstorm ideas about how to solve an issue which has plagued video games for years.

In Arkham Asylum only Batman wears a cape. Guild wars is massively multiplayer and capes would render on every single player on a wide variety of computers.
This is one area where I agree for sure. When watching the idea of the game unfold before release I kept hoping for the article that would talk about how they wouldn’t use fat pools of health to simulate challenge. It never came and then I played and was disheartened when I encountered it.
I was hoping the strategic style combat would mean a boss fight would be a fight with a smarter than average NPC with maybe twice the normal health who would use skills and counters to avoid damage. They would deal greater amounts of damage with less predictable patterns requiring players to be on the defensive with would also lengthen the battle.
However Guild Wars (one and two) both have come to closest to this idea so far.
GW1 was the same way. What made bosses so tough? They simply had a lot more HP..
I would disagree there particularly towards the end. Enemies knew exactly when to interrupt me, strip my enchantments, apply conditions, attack the weakest link and spread out. Boss enemies would have even more counters. In prophecies not so much but with each new content update combat became more evolved and complicated. I’m hoping it will be similar for GW2.

This thread has degraded.
Blackgate got a big influx of very WvW focused guilds and that gave us a huge advantage. We finally have a powerful night crew going as well in preparation for the next tier where we got spanked like a school child.
However this current match up is giving a lot of Blackgate players monstrous attitudes and over inflated egos.
I worry that when we get bumped up to tier 2 we will be so fat, arrogant, lazy and spoiled that we will get completely blindsided. I’ve learned a lot from TC and FA. They’ve put up an incredible fight against overwhelming odds and developed some genius tactics that gained a considerable amount of land back during the day time in EB. I’ve also met some really awesome people who I’m now friends with.
We’re on different worlds but that’s arbitrary and can easily be changed. Can’t we in good spirit be friends and respectful towards each other?
We’re gonna rocket up the bracket again. I hope we’re better prepared to play with the big boys this time. Worried we’ve gotten too complacent this week.
I rather like the idea of the animation I just wish it was a bit more translucent or something to make it actually look like energy.
Events and standard content add to the size of a game.
Hidden gems add to the longevity.
Ask anyone who has 100% map completion what their favorite part of exploring was. I bet you it’s not going to be filling in a heart.
And even with 100% map completion there is so much to see.
Yeah if you really look into the dialogue and see how events unfold you start to realize that the tone of Tyria is pretty much constant suffering and war. For humans it’s more like a post-post-apocalyptic world. I remember I was in an Ascalonian settlement when that concept really clicked in. Along the lines of;
‘You know, I would find myself a woman if I didn’t think she’d be dead the next day’
It’s pretty brutal out there for anyone well equipped and nearly hell for anyone not.
