I’m just mad at myself for not pressing that SELL button last night before bed.
Insane collapse. .. but yes, good for the economy.
You didn’t see it at the beginning, when there was no notification? They went through several iterations before the current system quieted enough people down.
It’s easy to dodge the Abomination, like every other foe, by dodging toward it as it approaches.
In the early days of the day, there was a patch which gave Jack-a-lop’s astonishingly loud footsteps. I thought that it was cute, but the sound was definitely distracting.
A short time after, the level was reduced significantly.
Recently, I realized that I don’t hear my Jack-a-lop at all.
Perhaps the sound is just really quite – but, really.. considering the noise the SAB minis make, I believe that this is a bug.
When you fix this, please make consistent with being an exotic mini
Thanks!
Nice models, but yep.. No town clothes purchases for me, thank you.
It’s “exploit” protection.. Like how the rare karma weapons in Ebonhawke are 63k karma (vs 42k for exotics in Orr). Those used to be significantly cheaper..
Making karma convertible to gold at a reasonable rate would upset the economy, with a large number of players taking up karma farming with the expectation they will make more gold than from the typical means.
It’s all about limiting the effectiveness of farming, which IMHO makes no sense in a game where the major achievements are reached by collecting huge amounts of materials. (On my second Legendary now, I’m not someone who feels entitled to easy rewards.)
Fortunately, the same rules apply to all Tyrians…
Back to the grind!
As seen in the attachement…
“The Consortium contracts are destroyed and the settlers are”
… are what?
Over in the Black Lion Trading discussion forum, some players noticed the change in ecto salvage rates from .9 to .5 , after a patch.
After a few messages, John Smith spoke up, saying that he would look into it.
Now, roughly 24 hours later, there is a patch issued to correct the error.
John Smith. You have demonstrated, in my eyes, that you know how to take care of a situation.
You’re not the only person, but you’re the one I think needs a pat on the back for good work right now.
To ArenaNET management:
John is golden. Please reward him accordingly… and thanks for making this game!
(ps: I got burned a bit on ny trade, because of John’s decisive action.)
The best content ever – are you trolling? Hope so.
I think the troll in this scenario is you, Bold.
I didn’t say this IS the best content ever, I stated that the players expect the best video game ever to HAVE the best content ever – so anything less gets ripped up quite vigorously – sometimes with valid critique, sometimes childish fist shaking.
Guild Wars 2, in my 32 years of gaming, is the one I consider The Best.
I also believe that I’m not the only one to feel that way.
With holding the title of The Best Video Game Ever, comes the expectation of The Best Video Game Content Ever.
Personally, I did Canach in 3 tries (after the first, I knew to take a good hour break before I tried again). Got Null on the first time I went with a full team (two of us spent half an hour to get him down to half health, which was a great opportunity to learn the engine). Fine.
The idea of solo instances, I like. I also agree that the F&F instances were fabulous.
I know there are 2.9 million people who didn’t rant about the content quality, but the ones who do are louder than ever. I like what I’m getting.. but appreciate their expectations.
Keep at it ArenaNET! I have faith, that you too, as gamers, are trying to make The Best Video Game Ever.
I feel that ArenaNET is training us how to deal with mechanics and game play. A very simple event – once you learn how it works.
Please help me understand how to keep my pet away from the mines, while I’m doing all of the other Canach acrobatics?
Borderland chests are still per character. I run them daily with 3-4 toons on one account.
Check your bought items history.
I was expecting a “I came for Flame & Frost and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!!” Town clothing item
Totally agree that this is the perfect “first dungeon.”
Congrats on successful completion of the F&F story arc, Team ArenaNET!
Is this champion a further attempt to scare people away from the tunnel treadmill? Why the ongoing pressure to stop grinders from playing like we want to? So what if we make more gold with circuits like this, and CoF? I’ve got a healthy supply of gold to buy as I like, but I still end up using tokens and karma to buy about 90% of the items I want/need.
Making t6 mat runs easier will bring down the price of the items, not raise them. The current rare crash is a great example.
Ps: I don’t grind constantly, but I like that there is a place to do it when I feel like it.
So, would you suggest the person who showed a [97 Jack-a-lop might be a market manipulator? I watch the Jack a lop listings every day and see quite obvious market maker actions.
If there is a wide spread, such as is the case in a variety of level 80 Rares lately, I usually set my listing around the mid-point of the spread. Every time I do this, the item sells in a relatively short time. The listing price isn’t low enough to give that person buying “50 great swords” an opportunity to profit on either end. If anyone else lists before my item sells, it usually continues to close the spread and take the profitability out of flipping the item.
..and I don’t get hung out to dry by the 1c less listings.
I agree that the listing fee should be merged with the sale completion fee.
Heck, I’d prefer a return to the good ok’ days of WTS/WTB, but I understand the benefits of an automated system in an economy of this size, with as many differing products as it has.
3-4 in the first few weeks, about that many (2 in the past two months) for me. Over kittenests in my inventory… Don’t know why I bother!
If you were someone who played Guild Wars 1, you might suppose that ArenaNet maintained the same definition in the new game.
Unique was the category for the most rare of items, not their equip ability.
I just got the fused skin ticket with one key.. I wasn’t even hoping for it, just waiting until after the patch to make use of the key .. Just in case something new came along..
So either I am ridiculously lucky or you might want to try one key now to see if it’s bugged
My condolences to everyone who dumped tons of cash into the RNG vacuum.
I farmed 75 bauble bubbles in the past 3 days with very little time commitment.
We were told that the patch was coming on the 30th.
We’ve seen the previous patches come at different times.
We know Anet’s gives dates based upon their time zone (PST)
I showed a new player how to farm the bb’s and that she should get it done before the 30th. She got her GS skin in 3 days, as well.. And she had not even reached 80 with the one toon she started.
So… Why is it that you are complaining?
Yes, it is. Buy gem cards at retail stores and send your friend the redeem code.
I’m still kicking myself for not filling one of the two 225g buy orders on Sunday night..
Finished the Dreamer a few weeks back , still loving it…
I bought Venom, so at the moment I look at Rage as my next Legendary. Sure, it’s not as exciting as Twilight, but it’s cheap and something I will make lots of use of, being a water fan and all…
+1 for awesomeness.
Works for me. Keeps it fresh.
Where did this 1000 laurels thing come from? There is no conspiracy.
I’ve had my bad math moments, so I suggest to anyone confused to look up at my previous post in this thread to see how it was possible to get the cat tonic.
And I have a Legendary, that I worked on, every day, for 3 months.
You want these things, try playing the game.
PvP monthly gave 10 extra, last month. Don’t know if that carries now.
(in addition to the PvE monthly)
82+10(Mar)+10(Feb)=102.
Wintersday had the 3 account bound minis that would come randomly out of gem purchased chests (boxes, or whatever they were called). You needed two sets – one to throw into the forge to get the fourth (rare) miniature. All were account bound, so having useless doubles is a common occurance. The box was on the gem store only, completely RNG. There are four minis that come from the forge (glue, stuffing and frames), as well, but those are in-game rewards that didn’t require gems to purchase.
Lost Shores minis were in RNG “consortium chests” in the gem store.
Mini Set 1 is RNG.. of course you get minis, but there are such a wide variety, if you want the set, you’re more likely to get the exotics from the trading post. These are still for sale, so more will keep entering the game until the pack is removed (or replaced with set 2?) in the gem store.
Balthazaar is RNG, but for karma.. for me, about 250k (after considering the karma items you’d get back).
Ah… the Halloween minis were also purchasable in a 3-pack. But you needed to buy a second pack to throw in the forge, with 250 candy corn, to make the rare 4th.
ArenaNET: THANK YOU for listening!
Seeing this item in the gem store, with no RNG, meant an instant buy for me.
That’s how I like it!
Yep, I bought keys too, during the sale. I spent enough in the cash shop of GW1 to know that if something you think you might need goes on sale – buy it! I hope the revenues generated by the sales keep our world growing and healthy.
The Twitter flash sale on the BL salvage kits did annoy me, but I’m guessing forum the lack of further flash sales that it didn’t go over so well.
One more day left? Black Lion salvage kits. Do it!! You know it will be the highest revenue day of the month
Thanks again for the great work.
I miss the social nature of WTS/WTB, but appreciate the necessity of the trading post. Transaction history would be nice.
I don’t like the taxation system (and how it was opaque for the first few months), but I get it.
Like everything else in this game, I expect it will continue to be refined and improved over its lifespan.
Finally, there is John. In the beginning, during beta, I was very skeptical. As the game has grown, I feel that you have grown as well, into someone who is deserved of the respect you receive from the community.
Good job and thank you for your efforts.
I will go as far as saying that your role is the most important in the company, and you wear it well.
Allisa
Ps: what happened to Mike O’Brien? Did he cash out and retire, or is he locked in his office, killing Tequatl?
quietest CEO ever, since launch! I can’t blame him, though.
Why would you do this?
I, sadly, must agree with the the group – being single will greatly improve your opportunity to achieve a Legendary weapon.
But… I can shoot unicorns now!!!
Maybe it’s because I am not a PvPer, but I may have incorrectly assumed there was going to be a PvE leaderboard coming up (perhaps just Achievement points, but I can think of plenty of of other things to include) with the last patch.
Am I missing something, somewhere, or is it just a dream in my head?
I would really love to see how many people have each title, for example… and whether 4k achievement points is a lot or a little.
Geotherma.2395 :
I think now I’m not providing enough information. I’ve got the level and influence covered as a function of running the guild since pre-launch eve, so it’s really just about warm bodies.
I think Smooth Penguin.5294 points to what would make the most sense as a solution: Guild Alliances (like GW1). I would like to learn why they chose the multiple-hat route over alliances, which worked fantastically for me.
I am making new friends all the time, in game, but the players in areas I frequent are usually pretty well established in their guilds… I find new players in lower levels, but I know it will be a while until they are up to speed for these events.
Perhaps, for me, the most important question: Is it possible for me to participate in other guild events without representing? I know it’s stubborn… but I feel like I’m in a chicken-and-egg scenario where if I rep others to get the events, there is no incentive for my guildmates to rep, either.
Please take my statements with the understanding that I am not losing sleep over it, but I would like to be able to continue to have a complete mini collection, which feels impossible without losing my identity.
And of course, this isn’t my thread… I don’t think the training events are a rip off, so perhaps I’m taking it off topic.

Oh yes, and rolling a new toon for yourself means you get to do all the hearts etc again from scratch! I tend to not use my Ranger with newer players for exactly the same reason.
Perhaps you can make it a game of “keep my friend alive?” I don’t think there’s much to solve the problem other than time, or strong sedatives (j/k). Your idea of making a toon and levelling it up to match his is probably a good idea, because then you will be able to demonstrate techniques which will be applicable to him, and he won’t feel underpowered and try to compensate when he sees you slicing through everyone so quickly.
I have never been kicked from a CoF p1 run with my ranger. It annoyed me that quickness got nerfed because of problems with other classes and other game play areas (this wasn’t a problem in GW1, come on devs), but I am not putting down my short bow over it.
He might not be a good person for Ranger if he tries to toe-to-toe everyone, but I will say.. I have a six year old son, and he has a level 80 Ranger that he achieved by playing, with me, when I was leveling at the same time as him. In other words, I didn’t bring my 80 along to help his level 1. If a six year old can do it… well…. you know…
I’m sure there are people who get the Engineer class, but as much as I really want to and keep trying, I must not, because I really can’t survive as effectively as with any of my other classes. Heck, even my level 14 thief with her original armor and daggers is competent in all parts of the 1-15 areas…
You’re welcome to message me (actually, message Cheri Wonderland, my main) if you need someone to run with.
I never really cared about any idea of an end game, I expect to be wandering around Tyria for years, just like I did in GW1. The real people are the end game, to me.
Even the trolls who use allcaps
(edited by Allisa Wonderland.8192)
I’d love to have a more mobile Dreamer.
The only answer I can give is that it gives more motivation to get more Legendary weapons… which I’m doing now
Thanks Zenleto, I agree with you. +1 on girlfriend time
CobaltSixty. I guess I figured out how to get you riled up now, didn’t I? hahahahahahaha. I’m sorry that’s what your brain thinks I wrote. You might want to speak with a doctor about your condition.
1. Wedding dress set, I so miss my signature look.
2. Matching hair, as above.
If you spent any time in pre in the past few years before launch, you probably saw me standing around there all day, so you know what I mean.
Note to ArenaNET accounting team: I will pay plenty of gems to have them in GW2. Significantly more if I get it only for myself LOL
There a links area for this, a moderator may move it. I mention it so you’re not confused if it just gets deleted…
I had my own slump, which was solved by finding challenges for myself, like the Legendary run. I try to explore new areas to keep dailies fresh.
Jumping puzzles? I know they can be painful at first.. but after a hundred times through borderlands… LOL..
Chicken and Red Servitor are in my top 3, but #1 is my all time favourite Jack-a-Lop. I only miss when she had ridiculously loud footsteps.
<3 Jackie the Jack-a-lop.
That, said, I’ve made a beautiful pink and white karma armor set that goes great with the Karka.
Simple answer? Just be a helpful guide and give all the supportive input you can, and introduce them to the wiki.
My experience is the game runs much more smoothly when you have even two people together instead of running completely solo, this is a chance for both of you to improve on each other.
How do you mean his events don’t help you?
Advice? Play more. It’s like anything else, practice makes less pathetic
Since you have a level 80, I’m going to assume that you have your share of practice, already.
Class? In spite of all the complaints I’ve read about Rangers, it’s my favourite. This might be due to the fact that it suits someone who likes bouncing around everywhere. Much easier to hit targets with range, you can run all day with just the 1 attack.
I’ve heard good things about Guardian, just starting one out. I’ve done 80 on Warrior, Ranger, Engineer, Mesmer and Ele so far and the only one that never got better with age (for me) is the Engineer.
What is his play style in other games? hyperactive? plodding? sneaky? The answer to this question may serve him best in making that choice.
The Engineer was my first 80, and it made me feel like I was just a horrid player. One might suggest that the subsequent toons were easier because of my experience, and I agree.. but when I go back to the Engineer to finish the 100% WC, she’s still the one I have the hardest time surviving solo with.
You didn’t read my message.
“without repping someone else’s guild”
I have my own guild, and as far as I’m hearing, it’s too small to do the “main” events.
