1. I read on there that we wouldn’t get guild commendations.
2. I read on here that this was supposed to be something for smaller guilds
So, I expected #1.. but I don’t get why even bother. I need guild commendations for those new minis, correct? How can I possibly ever earn them without repping someone else’s guild? If there is a way, please tell me I will <3 you forever.
Current state of minis? Okay, now’s probably the best time to buy, they are in a price dip.
Anyhow, being that I have all of the minis up to the laurel ones (was psyched to get one when I hit 75, but when the Guild golems hit, not being a big guild and being 100% unwilling to switch to one just to earn them.. took the shine off) >:P
Whatever the case: The single “mini slot” doesn’t satisfy a situation where someone like me wants to run around with more than one mini.
We have invisible bags for this kind of thing! You’ll find yourself with lots of items for the bag, if you haven’t already.
But really, it’s a RANGEr. If I wanted to use a greatsword, I’d take a melee class.
FINALLY finished my Dreamer about 2 weeks ago. Put in the Sigil of Rage that I appreciated so much with the Lover.
I’m sure not going to stop playing my ranger, but it’s not because I am happy with the Quickness nerf, it’s because I spent all that time looking forward to rainbows and unicorns… I want to enjoy them! I suppose doing low level maps still has value…
PvP can bite my butt. I play PvE and I don’t give a flying two bit screwdriver if its too unbalanced in PvP. Make it DIFFERENT then, like you used to do in GW1! Don’t screw everyone .. making the class worse isn’t driving me to play WvW or PvP, it’s driving me AWAY from them.
Actually, it’s just driving me to the warrior I built. Clumsy but much more capable.
I have a Sigil of Rage on The Dreamer.
When it activates, now, I am experiencing a big “dead spot” in the firing, before the quickness shots actually happen.. it feels like I am winding up for a big shot, but I just don’t recall this happening before the patch.
Or, in slowing down the firing, did the pre-firing get affected?
Nerfed Quickness. BOO. BOOOOOOOOOO.
My ranger is my favourite too. I started a Warrior (which I find slow and difficult to manage compared to the ranger), got it to level 80, and discovered the huge difference in damage capabilities.
So having JUST MADE the Dreamer a week ago, I’m stabbed in the heart to learn my favourite class (and sigil) have taken a drubbing.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
As it says… can’t right click to get preview, doesn’t show stats when I roll over.
Now that I have my Dreamer, I find myself more inclined to explore the rest of the world again, instead of spending all my time in Cursed Shores.
Actually, I should have been grinding CoF.. wow, what a run! The irony is that I have found fun in using a Warrior, so not much Dreamer.
Must be time for a Legendary Greatsword.
Made most of my money flipping minis from the beginning of the game.
I looked through my old screenshots, to find this. I believe that the silver numbers sunk a little bit past this, by Thursday of the official opening week.
On August 25th (opening night):
100 Gems =buys=> 30 silver
40 silver =buys=> 100 Gems
On Sunday, September 2nd, around 10pm PDT:
100 Gems =buys=> 18 silver
24 silver =buys=> 100 Gems
I will revise this if I can find more information.
I got burned in misreading “hair and eye colors” as “HAIR” and “EYE COLORS.”
Considering most of the new hair colours are useless… and who needs more eye colours? There were plenty of those.
I’ll just hold onto my makeover kit until it gets some proper upgrade content in it.
NEED NEW HAIR. NEED PINK HAIR.

The Lost Shores minis have the potential to be the rarest traded items, as they are the only non-account bound ones that are no longer available. Hold onto them!
There are plenty of sites which have screenshots of all of the various skins available, which is a very large amount! Use the trading post “preview” (right click) on items to see what they look like on your character.
Get your butt up to level 80, there is so much you haven’t seen yet.
Message me sometime and guest over to Crystal Desert (if you’re not already there) world, I’ll show you lots of fun stuff.
I don’t think he was picking on anyone.. The early citizens of Tyria reaped the benefits of their investment in the future of Guild Wars 2. Anyone who chose to wait until the game settled down, worked better, etc etc is rewarded accordingly.
My first Jack-a-lop was a whopping 17g that a friend of mine had to almost smack me to get me to buy it. Now, 17g is pocket money.. <3 economics!
Price keeps Legendary…. Legendary. Skill at TP is just as valid as skill at adventuring.
I will be the contrarian.
If you have all the materials, sell them and buy your precursor with the profit. Now, equip it and go back to grinding your mats again.
Why? Because you can get mats all day long, and the sell price is high. As more players have put enough time in to see the possibility of a Legendary, they will likely have their mats, too… And the demand for the precursor will go up.
I am betting against ArenaNet making an “easier” way to get the precursors.. And if they do.. Well… Think about how many complaints there are, in this thread alone, about them taking so long to do anything. How high on that list do you think the Legendary quest is?
I’m going to go out a limb and be an anti conspiracy theorist.. Imagine the developers really love this game, and they don’t want everyone to have Legendary weapons, because they know it will do more damage to the game than any of you ever could. Example: everlasting bell. Imagine LA with every ranger showing off their Dreamer. More like rainbow city!
I just got my Legendary, and I’ve been playing since minute zero. Work for it, you might just appreciate the end result.
The Dreamer sounds more like a robin than a neighing hore.. :P
Working on: The Dreamer
Remaining as of March 13th, 2013:
39 Powerful Blood
19 Elaborate Totems
7 Armored Scales
16 Ancient Bones
est. value: 14g
Gift of Wood recipe
value: 10g
100 Icy Runestones @ 1g each
value: 100g
So, approximately 124g away… if the mini market wasn’t so depressed, I would sell a few off and be done with it, but I’m having a great time
Crystal Desert … soon with MORE RAINBOWS AND UNICORNS!
I’ll second that.
If they didn’t pop off every time I stumbled, in town, I MIGHT consider them…
I bought almost every shop skin in GW1, yet none at all in GW2.
In GW1, I could kill Charr in my dress. In this game, I cannot.
Enough said.
Shakes head.. So sitting here every day, watching aviation hats go up for sale.. Waiting for the salvage kits… And what happens.. Twitter sale???
Disgusted.
Ayoe:
Please… If you don’t like it: go!
I’m not usually the one to say that, but judging by the quality of your message, you don’t deserve to be here.
Do you have ANY idea what kind of effort it is to optimize and synchronize all the live data necessary to render every toon and every special effect, on every client computer, during big events? To call their team LAZY is downright ignorant. Instead, perhaps try this perspective… The network programmers hit a throughput wall, and now they are in uncharted territories, sifting through (and designing) leading edge algorithms. If you had a clue about the scope of work involved in a game this size, LAZY would be the last thing to come out of your mouth.
What ArenaNET might benefit from is a scoreboard, a web page that shows:
- of open bug tickets, and running average of time per fix.
- of customer support tickets
- of new to-do tasks.
No details, just those.. and I’m sure you will see that the team are far from LAZY.

First, how long have you been playing?
I started on opening night: August 24th, 2012 at 9:00pm PDT. Before that, I played in all of the Beta weekend and stress test events in the months leading up to the game’s release.
Fast respawning mobs and no safe spots stressed me out. I felt the same way as you – how can I get anywhere like this?
Somehow, I still found my way to Straits of Devestation and the Balthazar zergs. My toon never seemed to be able to keep up with the group and I was always getting lost.
I learned about jumping puzzles in WvW. There is now a pile of broken keyboards in my closet.
Dungeons. I watched those blooms, in Twilight Arbor, snuff out my life more times than I can count.
Now, it’s just over six months into the game… and I’ve got:
1. 100% map completion.
2. Five toons at level 80
3. A complete Miniature collection (except for the new Laurels and Guild Events ones)
4. A small group of people I adventure with.
5. Almost everything I need to make my Legendary weapon.
My point is: I’m a pretty slow learner. It took me six months to get my skill level up (and understanding of the game mechanics) to a place where the problems which you point out… ones that I experienced as well… are not problems anymore.
I suggest..
Take your time. Research on the wiki. Plan ahead. Find your safe spots.
…and along the way, don’t be afraid to ask for help from other players.
If I can do it, you can do it.
What used to be painful and stressful is now wonderful! I’ve logged in excess of 1000 hours and still have lots of adventure ahead. The latest patch had me cranky about the increase in difficulty for Orr mobs (adding Champs/Vets), BUT, I know that a few weeks from now, I will be slicing through them like the proverbial hot knife.
And if you need help… send a message to “Cheri Wonderland” and if I’m around, I’ll be happy to!

Couldn’t hit her at all.
Skills were not activating.
Game FPS was “ok” but movement of all players was stuttering.
Multiple people with the same issue as it happened.
Event just completed 6:40pm PST.
Oh yes, and no chest for me. Some did get stuff.
Ah to dream of a world without soul binding…. But it’s a dream that includes a huge market shock, as one would no longer need to buy gear for each toon.
Completely disappointed with the colours, who picked these?? Not an artist, obviously.
Even the colours we have been “blessed” with are horrific!
I also made the mistake of reading it as “hair” and “eye colours,” instead of “hair colours” and “eye colours.”
This must have taken the developers AT LEAST 15 minutes to implement…
Complete waste of gems. Awful colours by someone who doesn’t understand the word “saturation.”
And here I was, expecting. “Hair” and “eye colours” not “hair colours” and “eye colours”
If we could get refunds, I’d be all over that.
If we hold on to them until the next time the item is changed, will the one I purchased be updated as well?
Yes. In the tunnel (Cursed Shores) I see all the players, but the mobs only materialize when I am within a few “game meters” of them. It seems like WvW prioritizing of people over foes was used in PvE instead of the reverse… I’d rather see what wants to kill me over who wants to help.
You get one key, early on in the storyline, which you can use on the plethora of BL chests that drop. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.
I have some in my inventory which I believe came as part of a map completion, as I have not seen any come out of a BL chest and I’ve never bought them…
Because people realized it was a reasonable way to get black lion keys.
My feeling is that the market “problem” may best be resolved by more variety of Legendary weapons (and their precursors) becoming available, diluting demand for the existing ones.
Personally, owning The Lover (which I got months ago, and started immediately using it to protect myself from the temptation to sell it), I am happy with high prices, as it maintain the intended exclusivity of the weapon.
It’s fun to see the odd rainbow in a battle.. Imagine the scene if every Ranger had The Dreamer. That fellow with the viral double rainbow video a while back would lose his mind!
I have a 32GB i7-930 and a GTX 590 (integrated dual card).
25Mb/s down and 2.4Mb/s up.
The only issue I have is the CULLING.
From my observation, it looks like the developers have (lazily/mistakenly/stupidly) used WvW priority culling rules in PvE. I can see all of the mob of players that I’m with, but the foes don’t appear until am right on top of them. (No, I am not at their spawning point.)
Just noticed that the Daily Kills % is incorrect, not sure if it was correct before.
49/50 is not 98%, last time I checked… at least it works properly, just a cosmetic issue.
49/50 is 98%.
Edit: Ninja’d
Yes, I definitely deserve to be mocked and laughed at for that. For some reason I was thinking 5% increments… My math brain was obviously not working at that moment.
A
I like that they are expensive and hard to get. Only the most dedicated are deserved, otherwise what’s the point? Buck up, buttercup. Play hard or move on.
Math fail. Please laugh hysterically.

I went a couple of pages, but I see it’s up here now. Thanks! I think it needs a sticky
Is there any reason why some of the achievements have been changed in the maintenance overnight? A number of “slayer” achievements I had were reset to 999/1000. I’ve heard there were other achievements like this, but haven’t had a chance to look.
I tried “re-achieving” some of the slayer titles, got them fine and received the points, but nothing else seemed different…
Since the January update, I find a serious culling problem with FOES when there a large number of players or mobs in an event.
What I’m guessing is that there is a priority table, which has set “people” over foes. This makes lots of sense.
But, it appears the same prioritization has been carried to PvE.
For me, seeing foes in PvE is way more important than anyone outside of my party.
Hopefully it’s as simple as an oversight…
(The only time I’ve seen this much culling in the past is Lost Shores, but there are many fewer characters in the scene at this time)
Good, as long as I am hearing there is no bug, I will keep on GRINDing this “not grindy” game, for my miniature. .. Glad to hear they are coming out if the boxes at all, if just not for me yet.
Thanks!
Four more today, still only unidentified objects and karma. Everyone else is getting good returns, or are they just not being bought?
On the release of the patch, the Orrian Jewelry boxes were dropping lots of random items, in addition to the unidentified whatevertheyarecalleds and Karma containers.
In the past few days, I have received ONLY the unidentified stuff and karma containers in the boxes.
If I am you’re switching me over to RNG with karma instead of dollars, I’ll suck it up and accept it, but I want to at least make sure I’m not wasting my life grinding karma that is going to nothing.
(and if you’re reading this and about to tell me to stop playing, go read another thread please trolling contributes nothing)
I’m not going to left my mini collection be incomplete, even if it means that my game play has become nightly grinds of the tunnel and not enjoying the new content. (okay, that’s a bit of a passive complaint
)
So, back to the point.. is it working as intended right now and just really painful what I’ll be going through to get my mini?
Black Lion Chests are the bait to buy keys. They took the keys away from Lionguard Lyns as well.
I’ve repeated events without getting DR.
I’ve had first time events DR’d, then un-DR’d on my second attempt (in a row).
DRing isn’t a reasonable solution, for bots, if it affects human players. If the goal is to keep people moving along, then keep making new content.
I am on the Legendary track specifically because of the rainbows!
You don’t like? Would you rather it fire poop arrows?

Let’s say an enemy dropped a sword and a staff. If you have auto loot enabled, you hit F and you pick both of them up. If you have auto loot disabled, a little window will pop up showing the sword and the staff and you can click on whichever one(s) you want to pick up.
Thanks
I do know that already, and initially have the same thought as the other poster.. Why would you not want to pick something up? Checking on each item before acquiring is far too time consuming in battle..
And there seems to be a limitation to the persistence of your personal drops, as I now see the odd drop disappear with its foe at the end of an event.
+1 to more flexible UI. Habib (or his cohort in the interview) mentioned the UI was meant to be simplified, because they saw people playing GW1 were filling the screen with windows, and they wanted to solve that problem.
I didn’t see it as a problem, myself, but the end result is a UI which I’ve found more intrusive because of the inflexibility of the layout. The chat window is the best example of this..
And then there is the ESC button. Wayyyy too over-purposed. Nothing quite like pressing it to stop and attack and being blinded by the red options window (which doesn’t even match the rest of the UI).
Don’t get me started on the same problem with Interact. .. Just.., PLEASE..
Make “auto loot” do just that so we don’t wear out 2 million “F” keys
what happens when I don’t autoloot? Shaking my head.
I have found that HOW I fight mobs, in a group, impacts my drops.
I play with a ranger and have critical damage mods on almost everything. I eat a 26% MF food. Short bow is my weapon of choice, with chance of quickness on critical hit.
I try to get in first hit, last hit, or a decent % of the total damage to foes. I try to tag as many as possible (1-2 shots each) and get into the middle of the group. Oddly, even limiting my motion (guessing there is a penalty based on reduced precision when in motion) seems to have an effect.
Following this method, I get drops on more than half of the foes. I’ve seen the increase in moldy bags for about a week leading up to the Jan 28 patch.
When I am “late” attacking the mob, and especially when the ally group gets larger, the drop rate collapses to 1-2 sparklies per mob.
In other words, it is HUGELY noticeable.
A 5-10 member sized group at the event tends to produce the best loot volume.
When I am dong everything properly, I get regular rares in my drops, and one exotic in the past 3 days of doing it.
I salvage everything, sell mats and forge runes. My production rate is probably 5-10g for a few hours of work.
Has anyone else looked at the player mob size and hit effectiveness, in this manner?
Patch notes say there are two new minis available with Laurels (Geo and Snuffles). These are NOT in the mini pane.
But there is a High Priest of Balthazar mini slot (Account bound, what else is new) in the pane, but no details in the patch notes about it.
Orr is like the dungeons. At first, you hate them because you get killed by the first minion before you fire a single shot… but, with patience and determination, you learn how to avoid it and get the drop on them.
I used to despise the thought of being pulled every which way, but now I am a dodge goddess. I’ll happily run into the middle of a swarm of risen, pull out my spike trap and lay on them with rapid sprays from my short bow.
Tips:
1. speed boost! I use the 25% speed boost (the paw icon?) utility all the time
2. run THROUGH the pack, not away from them.
3. dodge
4. run with the zergs. It may not be repeated as often now, but plinx to Penitent fills my bags, my karma and my xp.
5. put away your weapon when you are running. Is it just me, or is there a tiny increase in speed?
6. having a pet is a huge bonus. I spend as much time saying “attack-come to me-attack-come to me” with the “pet takes no damage” utility. The Champion Risen Abomination hates pets
7. never give up. never surrender.
