Embiggening Tonic Timer; why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

okay, my first thought it, why is it even there? You can use the tonic again to remove the upscale effect. But if you wanted to have a timer so badly, why so short? 15 minutes?
I’m using it on my asura, and it’s great fun, but I’m so annoyed by the fact that I have to constantly reapply it.

so for the love of the five gods (I’m still not counting you, kormir), please remove the timer or upgrade it to 24 hours or something.. there’s just no point to it other than it being an annoyance. I mean, there’s honestly no reason for it to have a timer other than to annoy people who use it

First crafter problems?

More seriously, see also the following Reddit post, which outlines a variety of outstanding issues:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/68zaw3/legendary_armor_issues_and_feedback/

The useful thing about the thread is that the OP is doing a good job of trying to separate out bugs and objective issues, separating out critiques of the aesthetics (the first are more straightforward to address, while the latter are more complicated to agree upon, let alone do something about). That makes it more likely that ANet will get a chance to deal with each.

ah okay, so they acknowledged the brightness is an unintended issue. In that case I’ll hold my fingers crossed and can make a true whisper’s militant armor

Since you can salvage things from your material storage and not from your wallet it is a good thing they are there.

For the last time. We do not need the ability to salvage these currencies to obtain unbound magic! They can receive the pristine fractal relic treatment, where you use these currencies to buy a box that gives you a random amount of unbound magic. This technology already exists in the game!

The problem of them taking space in your bag has already been adressed why does it still trigger you so much? Besides some of them are basically crafing mats so it makes sense for them to be there. It would be cofusing to have half in the wallet and half in the bank.

That’s the thing, in my opinion the problem has not been addressed. As soon as you hit 250 of these currencies, your storage will be full and it will start piling up in your inventory again. This isn’t a solution to the problem.

Maybe.. just maybe..
YOU SHOULD EITHER SPEND THEM OR STOP GATHERING THEM!
you’re making a first world problem a nuclear war
seriously
If you don’t need them THEN WHY ARE YOU GATHERING THEM!?
If you do need them THEN WHY ARENT YOU SPENDING THEM!?

If your bank is full, and you have no intention of spending them, THEN STOP GATHERING THEM

There’s also the matter that Primordus didn’t go into stasis, or true sleep. Only thing that happened is that the machine drained so much magic (wherever it is now) that primordus has receeded to a pre-awakened stage. But that doesn’t mean he’s gone fully back to sleep, he just needs to wait to recover enough magic to move again. I’d prefer to call him knocked out, rather than back to sleep

it’s not a bug, it’s a feature
the armor is so bright, that no matter the dye, it’s all a hue away from white..
I mean.. seriously..
I prize my Order of the Whispers dye-set on my main warrior, and I just feel kinda
upset that I can only use shades of white to color the legendary heavy armor.. I mean..
was that even necessary, I’d call this a legendary disaster..
You can quite literally only be a shining paladin of light, as even Abyssal Dye is just a light silver…..

I honestly thought she was going to die then and there. I mean, they built up the scene, zoomed in on the device, it was gonna blow, we see Taimi being flung away.
I was mentally prepared to watch her fall into the lava.. but.. no.. a conveniently placed rock caught her. I am conflicted though, because on one end she’s one of the few characters whose death I would’ve actually cared about. I would’ve hunted down balthazar and flung him down the same fire he (would’ve) caused taimi to fall down in.. well.. maybe an alternative because I’m not sure you can kill a god, especially balthazar, by throwing him in the molten flame

LV3 has 6 episodes - next expansion near?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Amaimon.7823

…our rough plan is to slot the expansion pack into the release cadence as if it were an episode: episode 5, then episode 6, then the expansion pack, then episode 1. But we’ll make some allowance for the fact that shipping an expansion pack is a big deal logistically and will probably take longer than the 2~3 months we normally allocate between episodes.

I translate that as:

  • Episode 6 appears late July or August
  • Expac November or December, but maybe later
  • LS4 probably launches March (more than 3 months, but ANet is usually lightly staffed in Dec & Jan)

Mind you, none of those dates are “promised” — things can (and probably will) change. Just that for a change, those who are overhyped aren’t exaggerating the release date by much.

That said, ANet has usually had about 5-7 months between official announcement and the actual launch November is 6 months away.

that seems fair

I have 2 problems with the new map:

1) there are a LOT of places where you can fall through the map, just last night I had to WP back from somewhere quite a few times becauses dodging, druid-touch-launching or sometimes downright just walking makes you fall through the ground, get stuck in walls, get stuck in rocks, etc. Happened once, it was funny, second time, okay, but 10 more times and I was really getting annoyed.

2) the lowest lab where you rescue the druid, with the boiling water and the geysers, once you fall down, fair or not, you can’t get back up. I looked all around, the only way to get back up is to teleport back to the submarine and walk all the way back to the lab, that’s not punishing, thats just downright annoying

Also, Primordus isn’t “the most destructive” dragon. He’s actually been the least destructive dragon in terms of his actions and influence on the races. He’s just been awake the longest thus should be “the most powerful”.

Jormag and Mordremoth have proven to be the two most destructive dragons.

He is, but he was also the least active (besides Stevy mcBubbles)
because the Great Dwarf was SUPPOSED to be be keeping him busy, yes I’m looking at you, Ogden, prepare for your monthly evaluation.
Mordremoth’s destructiveness was limited to the vines breaking apart forts, and later the fleet blips. Jormag did a lot more damage, breaking an entire mounting in the north, but that still pales to rising an entire peninsula south of Kryta causing a subsequent tidal wave, so with your logic, if you take inactive dragons out of the equation, Zhaitan is the most destructive dragon

Divine magic is immune to dragon consumption and corruption

Do we know this for sure? Got a source for that?

I thought it was the opposite – the most common explanation I’ve heard for the gods withdrawal from everyday human life is that they knew the Elder Dragons were awakening and left Tyria to protect their magic (and by extension themselves). Much like the mursaat did the last time the dragons rose.

Didn’t they leave because of Abaddon, who by meddling with the bloodstones caused the Great Guild Wars (after which the series is named), causing the gods to withdraw because they realized their presence did a lot more harm to the world than good

It gets better. Apparently, the fact that we barely took down a weakened human god in GW1 – Abaddon, doesn’t matter anymore. Screw that. Out heroes are capable of soloing Balthazar. Wonderful continuity.

I know, thats another thorn in my side, which can only be explained by “corrupted gods” (to some extend)

But most especially.. how was that supposed to be a plot twist? yea.. no one saw it coming because gw1 players knew it would make zero sense for him to be there, and gw2-only players wouldn’t find it a shock.. they would just say “who?

Also I like to think that he was either extremely weak, or not a true embodiment of Balthazar, because the real Balthazar would’ve had a blinding presence that drives a man mad..

But back on topic.. Wouldn’t we have had a message of any kind from Ogden if they other Great Dwarf-members failed to keep Primo underground?

So with LS3.5 we finally learned who Lazarus really is. And as no one expected, it was Balthazar making an appearance out of nowhere. Now Anet might think they have outdone themselves with such a reveal, but they missed one major point when it comes to “plot twists”.
If you want to have a good plot twist in your story, you should leave crumbs beforehan, that hint to the twist, without making it obvious. After the twist the audience should be left with a feeling of “how did I not see that?”, because then they realize you basically gave away the answer before the twist even happened.
But instead Balthazar randomly appears without any hints to it in the previous chapters whatsoever. He as a villain, concealing himself as Lazarus, makes no sense at all. It feels like a cheap “shocker”.

To make it worse, he disappeared as quickly as he appeared. So if he’s really gone, that means his involvement really didn’t mean that much. As such, he wasn’t worth all the hype and build-up.

Long story short, he’s propably not gone and there’s much bigger trouble which now involves the gods.
Why did a god of war feel the need to go through all this effort when their legends put them at the apex of the evolutionary chain. Apparantly there’s something bigger at play here..
Are the elder dragons and the gods connected?
Are the gods dying?
Is there corruption at work on a godlike level?

What happens to dragons when they die?

in Lore

Amaimon.7823

I don’t think the Elder Dragons die at all since they are on a cycle of rising again and again after many thousands of years. Dying would mean that they are permanently dead and would never rise again. I think whenever anyone says that an Elder Dragon is dead, what they really mean is that they’ve gone back to whatever state they were in prior to waking up.

True and False
The Elder Dragon, at least is the theory being raised now, must exist. I plot similarly seen in Pirates of the Carribean “The Ship Must Have A Captain”.
As it stands, the popular theory is that the elder dragons play a vital role in the engine of the Eternal Alchemy, and that by killing the ED the engine stops spurring. That doesn’t mean it’s destroyed. The magic dissipates and does other stuff elsewhere. So it’s my belief that the ego Zhaitan and Mordremoth are dead, but the conceptual Elder Dragon still exists, and will rise again in one form or another, because the world demands it to exist.

I mean, that’s my theory, it’s not a fact. But I do strongly belief that the ego of Zhaitan and Mordremoth is truly dead.

Does that mean the next time Zhaitan or Mordremoth rise, will they remember their previous rising? Will they even have the same domains of magic? Or are you saying that the Elder Dragon will now contain a new ego or identity and may possibly be masters of other domains of magic with no recollection of their last rising.

no, as I said, the ego is dead. The ego will not come back. A new entity may (or in my theory, must) rise to become the NEW elder dragon. They will have the same domains, although the domains are slowly being corrupted by one another now. But I think equilibrium will restore the domains over time. But whoever, or whatever takes up these roles with be a completely seperate entity from Zhaitan and Mordremoth

Such as hopefully benevolent entities like maybe the Pale Tree or Aurene.

that’s part of my theory, yes
and maybe benevolent Joko as well (just kidding, sheesh)

Some tips:
Be one of the close dps guys, chances are low you’ll ever get agony.
Right after his swipe attack he spawn greens, so dont use the dash skill to dodge the swipe.
Stay close to the group for heals.
wait for the markers of the green fields to appear, and look for a 1 or a field that already has sufficient people. If you have the dash skill you should have plenty of time to find one.

and as Zoomborg said, this achievement requires some selfishness. Find a balance between securing the green fields, and rezzing others. If you don’t rezz at all, you will risk not killing the boss and then it won’t matter how many greens you hit.

As the world erodes around

It’s only Tuesday
And bandits throw their fit
And Karde launches the final hit
It’s Sabetha’s Birthday

No, the platform will not hold, it’ll be too late

Then the beast slowly wakes up
As his tantrums mess you up
It’s only Wednesday

But even the torment claws might have been “lent forces”, offered by the Dreadspawn Maw.

Leaks indicate we’ll be getting mounts next expansion – and they WON’T be just cosmetic, but instead provide more movement opportunities similar to gliders.

Ground mounts however can be set to speeds already obtainable on every character 25% run speed(traits skills runes), or 33% if they have the boon but not every class has it. Waypoints will still be faster. Instead of running on foot, you’re running on a mount, and gives anet another area to flood release additional skins like gliders.

But mounts can achieve higher speeds than Swiftness, while also providing utilities like canyon-jumping. And Waypoints aren’t as much a thing anymore, to the chagrin of anyone on Silverwastes, Lake Doric, Bitterfrost Frontier, and the SW side of Brisban,

and so the descent into gaming oblivion begins.. I shall have a wake for anet
