Suggestion: Fractals Skins

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

While yes, it would be nice, we currently have the Fractal Weapon set, which I think is enough workload for anet.
Considering we a fistful of fractals that would be a lot of skins.
Maybe they could make a challenge mode for the all fractals and award 2-3 skins, I dunno.
But much rather I think I would like an armor in the style to go with the Fractal Weapons.

The Vale Guardian would’ve been good pre-training for fighting The Prime Hologram

I’d rather have it be a fractal. Only a few people in GW2 raid compared to the total population, certainly far fewer than do fractals.

id rather have the maryonete as a raid which in scale was bigger and scarlet as a fractal. Also basing your arguement on baseless fact isnt the best way to get your point across

How about a new type of groups:
Parties: 5 people
Raid units: 10 people
Squads: 50 people
Mission units: 20 people

Difficulty can be a bit below raids, but should still require all 20 people to carry their weight. It’s just a random number, but 20 seems like a perfect balance between big groups and decent organizability.

So, what does Taimi do???? She’s (apparently) really smart, sees all the answers that no one else can see, and devises solutions no one else is thinking up. She’s Wesley Crusher.

If that’s not an indictment, I don’t know what is.

what taimi does is research how magic works and how it can be used against the elder dragons since they like it so much

Yes, we know that. But look at the entire structure of Asura culture. It revolves around competition to be the best in your field and invent the best things in your field. During this time of war, why is the most effective group of people fighting the dragons (the Commander’s party) toting around a young Asura who hasn’t even finished school? Why don’t we have someone from the top ranks of Asura culture who has already proven themself?

And frankly no one should be allowing Taimi to do this research. If a college student discovered a secret building with alien technology, the grown-ups he knows would not allow him to keep it secret and go in there and play with the technology. Especially someone who has essentially been a NATO commander. They would tell the relevant authorities.

In real life, the entire group would be brought up on charges for keeping this information from the Asuran government during a time of war. But in GW2 Taimi’s research will save the day so everyone will overlook what she did and how we helped her hide it. This is why the Taimi writing is nonsensical.

Because we can’t trust the Asura capital, that’s why.
The arcane council tried to silence dragon researchers out of fear the office would be called into question. Infiltration of Inquest is always an issue, they already were close to create a hexahdyrocollider running on dragon energies. and their overal sense of competitiveness may work counter-intuitive when we need fast and good results.
Right now, having 1 asura with first-hand knowledge and honest motivations is our best bet of getting good results.
And no one is allowing taimi to do all this research alone. The commander knows that Taimi can take care of herself, and condones it, for lack of a better option. For the rest of the asuran race, she’s just a pebble having fun at the lab getting in everyone’s way, not knowing she’s secretly working in the Dragon Lab. Remember her exchanges with her supervisor who is unaware of her actual work.

I’d rather have it be a fractal. Only a few people in GW2 raid compared to the total population, certainly far fewer than do fractals.

yet, you will be surprised how much easier raids are compared to Tier 4 fractals. I see more wiping, whining, toxic behavior and nooby-ness in fractals T4 than I see in pug raids. And I think most of the reason is that Fractals are often organized by haphazaroudly organised groups while raiding takes a mindset to take the game seriously. Raids also have a structural encounter, almost to the point where you can predict every step the boss takes while the fractals often turn into complete chaos, random attacks and simply unfair abuse by bosses. I’ll take a raid over a T4 fractal anyday.

What I mean to say is, I think a large population will be fit for raiding, but are simply scared to get started. When I had yet to kill my first boss I too thought raids were out of my reach. But after 60 kills or so now, I think this is actually quite breezy. Remember, practice makes perfect, I used to be stuck on Sabetha for 3 months, now I kill her every week in less than 5 tries.

+1 Completely Agree
Never a hype
Overall communication is bad, if you look at the forums, devs respond on 1-2posts a page

The most communciation I ever got was that they changed a title of my topic without saying anything in the discussion.

but on topic: They have made a statement once that the long hype of the previous expansion backfired so they don’t want to hype up coming content anymore. So now we get a week advance LS teasers, and we’ll get a trailer and a reveal sometime soon when they’re closed to finishing the next expansion. The lack of hype may be what’s killing the game, I don’t know, but the overhype we got last time almost definitely killed the game so I rather have this silence.

Condi Berserker or Engineer for end game?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Amaimon.7823

That would easily be the Berserker, since it can fill both the roles of the Burnzerker, or the condi-PS. every raid party will want 2 berserkers so you basically join 20% of the raiding facility. After that, they can do fairly decent DPS as a burnzerker, so you’re flexible too. Engineer’s aren’t unwanted in raids, but I think it will be easier to pug and get into groups/raids with a berserker

wouldn’t it be great if there was like a super villain who’s really powerful, and sometimes just casually shows up for some dialogue without all the villanous pompous behavior? Just like, oh hey, you here? just some local nice guy who’s friendly to everyone and in the meanwhile is just preparing for the end of the world. Maybe a motivation like “I’m a good guy, but I know when the bad guys are gonna win, so i just casually slip in there”

It would indeed be awesome to have some unusual bad guys.

I can even imagine a chain of events leading to Taimi being later portraited as bad one. Maybe her experimenting with strange inventions and energies would lead to a massive catastrophe? Maybe she’ll end up making the dragons more angry? Maybe even so much angry, that even our heroes cannot save the world and the remaining survivors would blame her?

while those are plausible scenarios, I honestly doubt Taimi wants them to happen.

Where are the resources coming from to “see more SAB”? They’d have to come from someplace. And, as you can see, there are plenty of folks that would prefer to see those resources dedicated anywhere else other than SAB.

Devil’s Advocate:
If you wanted to cite “number of players appeased/participating” as a criterion, the SAB population is probably larger. I’ve yet to see a protest line circumvent Rata Sum for raids. Just sayin’.

Devil’s Prosecutor:
Raids are permanent content, and SAB is only available 3 weeks a year. Wasting resources on something that’s only available for a short time a year is fine, but it should never come at the cost of the main content. People love it, that is no discussion, but people tend to forget SAB is just a mini game, while raids are a part of the vibrant and “real” world

Festivals are bridge content. Do it a bunch, then wistfully wait for it again for next year, hopefully to see some changes. If there aren’t changes, oh well, it’s festival content, so it won’t be around that long, anyway.

Raids are “do it now and beat it in the first week then be a d-kitten to everyone who wants to get into it because Six forbid that raid you’re 6-manning takes along 4 more people who could know what they’re doing because you’ve been grinding it for months because that’s all there is to it is more grinding but it’s available all year so that makes it okay?” If not for the LI-grind and the exploitation of selling the content, raids would be abandoned after the first month of their release.

you.. eh.. okay there buddy? sounds like you had a rough week. Maybe you should find a group of people who enjoy doing raids, instead of pugging it with no LI

Braham grieving over the mother that he ignored for so long, Jory grieving over the sister she lost — nope, those guys aren’t a barrel of laughs.

(Mind you, I also think the writing has been more uneven for their parts — the bits that include Canach and Taimi are more colorful and work better in terms of dialogue, progressing the story, and keeping me in the moment.)

I always loved canach, but he’s more a source of sarcasm and dark humor than a good laugh. Taimi provides that.

Warrior, guardian or necromancer?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Amaimon.7823

Warrior will you give the most flexibility in all fields.
Warrior’s have a decent position in all fields, and if you take a traitline with Phalanx Strength you can support any party composition be they raids, fractals or dungeons.

Next up, I would say Guardian and Necromancer are doing okay as well, Necromancers will be your best choice if you want easy access to fractals. While Guardians will be slightly better than necromancers if pvp is your forté.
Necromancers aren’t very welcome in raids who want to do things quickly, but they’re not completely absolete either. You can run necro if you find social or welcoming raiding groups. But I suggest warrior as they are pretty much required for raids.

The one thing i am afraid with the warrior is that, as many people say, the class is boring and i am afraid that if that’s the case i’ll have to drop him later…

I’d say that’s an irrational worry, they’re quite flexible and variable.

You need a reality check mate. Raid community is active, but small. Sure, dungeons aren’t popular, but that’s because they are targeted at pretty much the same players. The bulk of the player pop, however, is open-world players.

I dunno mate, we’re talking about a fair community here.
I know at least 3 guilds who count 300 heads, then there’s always a good chunk of people in the aerodome, and many people form groups with friends to raid regularly with. Now, because it’s a nice content, most of the population is obscured by the majority. It’s quite hard to tell exactly how big the raiding community is, as most people who raid are usually members of larger communities.

Instead they took it as an insult. Another company like Blizzard would have jumped on that opportunity and give us more than we asked for (example make a SAB DLC with different modes including competitive areas), which is why they have so much success.

When people are telling you “take my money” you should understand that you have a good idea in your hands.

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

(I wasn’t sure whether this was more lore or raid discussion, feel free to move it)

So in Wing 4 we are perpetually observed by the Eye of Janthir. For those who don’t know, in GW1 this object was used by the Hero to identify the Chosen ones (as the hero was Chosen himself). It is not quite clear what being chosen meant, but it allowed to you attempt the trials of ascension, as well as make you a suitable sacrifice for the Bloodstone which the mursaat used to keep the Gate of Komalie shut. Now, the hero, at the time, didn’t know the chosen he identified with the Eye were going to be sacrificed as the White Mantle was still sancta gratia at the time.

Fast forward to Guild Wars 2. The Eye of Janthir returns in the second raid (or 4th wing) where new functions are ascribed to it. namely: it sustained everyone around it with false immortality, and it turnt everyone to their own fears, regrets, and nightmares. After the death of Deimos, the Eye of Janthir fled, and the last surviving prisoner; Saul d’Alessio, was no long being sustained and died.

Now, here is where the interesting part begins, Lazarus is (partially) back. The raid has confirmed that the Eye of Janthir is still actively moving about. And considering how the raids were a teaser to future events, I cannot help but feel that the Eye of Janthir may just yet play a role to come. This role could be major, this role could be minor. But another thing caught my interest is, what if Janthir is a mursaat? obviously, dead, but a mursaat nonetheless. It’s a very theistic name when you look at all the other mursaats, like Lazarus, Optimus, Mercia. What makes it even more interesting is the depth of Glenna’s knowledge, and the desire to learn more about it, implying that it may be very relevant information for the future.

Please, share me your thoughts, I am very curious on this matter.

Of course, if they ever did solve the runes issue, the legendary armor would start giving out a much bigger advantage. Which would mean that an alternate acquisition method would be even more needed.

Why though?
If legendary armor has a function that ascended armor does not have, then it’s only the reward for the effort you put it.

Legendary Armors will soon™ be upon us, but it will suffer from the same predicament the weapons and backpacks suffer from. Free stat choice, but complete denial for high end content like raids.

Or perhaps part of the reason for the delay is ANet is working on changes to the underlying mechanics to prevent the predicament.

did I miss a memo somewhere? you sound like something’s already in motion

What? How does “perhaps” translate into “already in motion?”

A bit of an over reaction, don’t you think? I said you sounded like you knew something more than I did, so I asked if there was something I missed. if I didn’t, then it’s all chill as an egg, isn’t it?

Sigil and rune swap are meaningless if you can’t also swap Stat infusions. I suggest you stop thinking of legendaries as the replacement for all your other gear and just look at them as cosmetics with upside when a particular Stat set is no longer meta.

For mini/maxers yes for everyone else no.

then everyone else wont bother about runes sigils too

I dunno, there seems to be a huge difference in value between:
+4 power
and
+10/250 power every kill (not that this specific rune is useful in raids, but you get my drift)

Meh. Why i even try. Probably another Afk Farmer defending their toxic kind.

you: I disagree with you, so you must be a toxic AFK-farmer
P2: maybe you should come up with constructive arguments instead of insults?
you: You defend them, you must be another toxic AFK-farmer

I think wherever the toxins come from, we can pretty much guess who’s taking the lethal dosage here

I am defending Anet’s rules. So if you disagree with me you disagree with Anet.
So you are cheater. Means toxic.
Got it ?

yup, that’s where the toxins went.

Abusing game mechanics allowed.

Friendlisted many afk farmers to check their status, they still “play” everyday for months.

Reported billions of them, opened tickets. Anet says it is forbidden and we “AWARE” “CARE”.

I don’t see any actions taken.

Be thankful as abusing the reporting feature is bannable too.

Abuse ?
Nevermind. I won’t argue with “Afk Farmer”.

Trust has the cheapest mics(afaik), but thats only if you don’t care about quality, and it might break within a year (doesn’t have to)

Legendary Armor predicament

Legendary Armors will soon™ be upon us, but it will suffer from the same predicament the weapons and backpacks suffer from. Free stat choice, but complete denial for high end content like raids.

So I suggest this: save the runes or sigils that are active on an item, during one stat. Then, when you change the stat to another, clear the slots either by returning the runes or sigils, or hiding them inside the item, clearing the slots. For example:

Sunrise:
Power
Precision
Ferocity
Superior Sigil of Strength
Super Sigil of Accuracy
[Warning: The following status combinations have obscured runes or sigils. These will not be active until they are activated (red text)]
:Cavalier

> Swap

Sunrise:
Power
Condition Damage
Toughness
Unused Upgrade Slot
Unused Upgrade Slot
[Warning: The following status combinations have obscured runes or sigils. These will not be active until they are activated (red text)]
:Berserker
:Cavalier

And in the stat change interview you can get the details of which runes and infusions are set to which stat

The above is my suggestion, but other suggestions or ideas may exist as well. Another idea would be to make a permanent extraction tool for the gem store, I think many raiders will buy it. (no, not the 2*150 gems every time I swap armor)
