Why Wurms weren't affected by the dragons?

Amaimon.7823

the problem in this case is that most dragon minions are perverted versions of their originals. Some still look a lot like their blueprint, others don’t look like them at all, anymore. If you saw Faolain’s second form, would you still have guessed she was ever a sylvari (if you didn’t know her prior form). So I think there are wurms that became dragon minions, but they might not look like normal wurms anymore.

1. Sit through long animation at start
2. Run through instance
3. Break cage
4. Get teleported to 1-2
5. Open the chests
6. Look what else I need
7. See adventuring 101 is still uncompleted
8. Repeat 1-1, break cage again, teleported to 1-2 again.. still no 101.. still 0%

okaaaaaayyy..

EDIT: found the problem, after the third try, I just stayed atop the hill with the big chest. It worked now. First two times I drop down to kill some monkeys while waiting for the timer. So obviously, the game tells you to AFK the timer, otherwise no rewards for you.

Living stories are made for veteran players in mind and are harder than core game. You need to master dodging and your skills and have updated armor and weapons.

This is what I don’t understand – why doesn’t Anet want all players to be able to experience the Stories?

Because if you design your story for the most casual of players in mind, you will lose 90% of your playerbase as they all die of boredom.

“The story” is not the same as “the game”. Most MMOs tell their stories through normal PvE content and separate the truly challenging content into Dungeons or Raids which are ABOUT the story but don’t wall off important parts of it behind the challenge.

GW2 walls off ALL the most important parts of the story (all of the episode ends) behind huge boss fights which lots of people find very difficult and don’t complete.

Which you don’t complete. Please don’t speak for the player base in general unless you have done an assay.
And believe me. Manor d’Caudecus is far from the truly “truly challenging content” . I think some people need to take more time to look at their characters and think “is this enough to get me through the boss instance, or do I need more stability, more conditions. Our maybe more dodges”

I didn’t hear you complain when that boss in zelda prevented you from continuing the game. Or when you
couldn’t kill Crack in the fire temple in Rayman.

Less emphasis on mega guilds and group content. More content for solo and groups under 5.

It’s a MMO bro. Sounds like you’re seeking content typically found in single-player RPGs.

Not a “bro,” dude but thanks. I’m also aware of what an MMO is. I’ve been playing them since UO and every single one has had plenty of content for groups under 5 and guilds that aren’t 100+, so get a new line because that one is long played out.

Bro is a gender neutral reference to refer to someone else. Just like dude. If you got offended by it them you’ve probably spend too much time on tumblr.

As for your point. Is it the purpose of game designers to mimick each other as closely as possible? Or to make a as most unique game as possible? I really hope it’s the latter, otherwise a lot of people will just buy the cheapest game X clone.
game A does it is never an argument to say game B should do it. Because game A is not game B

Not sure why you’re talking about hardcore SAB players with infusions because I never said anything about hardcore.

It’s obvious SAB is more popular than raids (by player count) because

1. raids require HoT
2. raids require ‘decent’ gear
3. raids require mastery
4. raids require high time investment compared to SAB

In terms of sheer numbers, SAB will win compared to raids to a high degree of extreme obviousness.

It is indeed obvious if you even stop to consider for one moment what restrictions are in place for players to access SAB compared to raids (hint: none).

I also said nothing about wintersday either so stop making irrelevant stuff up to detract from the point that SAB is played by way more players than raids.

Restrictions:
#294: LIMITED AVAILABILITY. The content will disapear after 3 weeks. For raids, you have the time to train, to practice, to get ready. For SAB you don’t. You have to come now or miss it. If SAB was permanent content I can guarantee you people would get bored of it after a month, and it would be dead’er than dungeons are.

I’m not sure where the argument “SAB is more popular than raids, look at the numbers” comes from
I mean, it would be the other way around if SAB was permanent content, and raid wings were only open for 3 weeks a year. Then you’d use the same argument to cover up raids.

Now, the six forbids, anet allows the melee classes to defend themselves and you casters lash back at everything that moves..

Just something like hearts and minds designed with a complexity that all 10 people need to carry their weight in combat and mechanics.

I am glad that somebody brought the topic on the surface :‘D I actually think that lack of world 3 (eventually 4) is really a big disappointment. I understand that there are more pressing matters to attend to but kitten ,.. What do we get in exchange? Would that “much” of a content mean that expansion will get delayed? or the living world? (ok, maybe the living world) but heck, those “new” maps feel so generic and empty I don’t feel like they are worthy addition anyways.. As this is the type of content that makes the game worth my time and makes me happy to play it (and I know that I am not alone in this) is it considerable to actually involve in project such as this? And if we are in no hope to ever get continuation I suppose why not discontinue the adventure box forever and make an official statement..

The issue is, the map needs to be designed. That means you need a team for the mechanical design. The path. The environment. Etc. And another team to actually make the maps. And then a third team to make the enemies, paths, events. Etc. Yes, these people need to come from somewhere.
Any dev designing an SAB map, isn’t designing a living story, or open world, or fractal map.
Luckily we now know that raids got an isolated team that won’t be infected. Fractals also got their own team, but that team is still open in interaction with other teams, so their work would propably slow down a little

If you’re still not dodging by the time you’re fighting the maw of mordremoth.. well.. it’s all you, sorry to say. Every game has a difficulty curve, and practice makes perfect. Maybe you should do events in the zones related to the story you find difficult, so you can get used to the maps. Asura believe in a mechanical, or non-sentient god, that is “fate” or a prewritten story for the world.

The Eternal Alchemy is often considered a religion, though it is more of a scientific or philosophical view of life, and shares few of the common attributes of most religions. That’s what the Eternal Alchemy is, nothing to do with a non-sentient god. There’s more details in the link so I won’t go into it.

Maybe I should’ve been clearer, what i meant was that by any definition of a god, to them, it’s just a machine, or a mechanism. Like, en encompassing entity of which “tyria” is a but a single cog. So, yes, god isn’t a very good word, but in trying to relate to it.

Amaimon.7823:
“Atheism is very easy in Tyria as the al omnipotent god doesn’t exist.”
Actually, that’s, technically, not what athiesm means.
> Yes, but I didn’t mean that. What I meant was, because the all omnipotent god(s) doesn’t exist, it’s very easy to have atheistic beliefs. I didn’t say atheism is “the god doesn’t exist”. minor detail.

As for the human gods, since we know that humans can become gods, or mate with gods to become half gods, how do we know the current gods aren’t just humans with excessive power? maybe the first few humans were all “gods”, and they slowly receded to a mortal weak state that is the modern man.

We have concluded that the first green teleport will fail with certainty. The green field spawns, we stand in it, the green field expires, disappears, and nothing happens. no teleport, we’re all there waiting for the next green field. This takes about 20 seconds-ish, which means the enrage timer is now effectively short that time since the teleport is guaranteed broken now.

Humans and their gods came from another plane.
Charr believe gods are mortal and should be killed to prove they’re stronger.
Asura believe in a mechanical, or non-sentient god, that is “fate” or a prewritten story for the world.
Norn believe in spirits
And sylvari believe in the sun and the mold growing on their feet.

Even the human gods aren’t all that mighty, they’re propably the first humans to exist or something silly like that, for the most part, they just have enough magic to warp reality to make it look like they’re gods.
There are demons, however, as old as reality, such as Rodgort, but even they don’t do much. I don’t think Rodgort ever did more than teaching mortals how to breath fire..

Anet said they create armors and weapons in two styles:
Gem Store team creates armors, weapons, and outfits to be sold in the gem store. This is to make a steady stream of money income.
Then there is another team that also makes item skins, but they make them for adventures. Because of the resources it takes to make them, they don’t make them much. They are reserved for festivals, or special events. Otherwise, they will be connected to expansions or living stories. But mostly expansions. Like HoT gave us a few armor and weapon sets, and so will the next expansion do. A dev has said as much.
It’s simply a high workload to make, so they need money in return, whether this money is in the gemstore, or the expansion purchase

I get that you love SAB, but it’s not a primary, nor even a secondary part of the game. It’s a festivallish minigame with no bearing to the game itself. As it stands, anet has shown that they struggle with the resources to keep up with the primary game and secondary components of the game. So I’m glad they won’t prioritize a tertiary part of the game for the sake of ‘fun’ if it would cost on the quality of the prior. Maybe the next expansion will generate a lot of revenue so they can afford to mess around with tertiary components of the game.
by primary I mean story: Orr, LS1, LS2, HoT, LS3
and by secondary I mean fractals and raids. (And maybe the current events)
Tertiary would be the minigames in LA, as well as SAB, halloween and wintersday.

Why is my character still alive?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

What always bothers me more is that when your character dies, you just go back to some waypoint. But this isn’t true for the rest of the people living in Tyria. So whenever a character is killed off in the story, I’m thinking “Why don’t they just waypoint out?”

I do realize it is a game, and it would be really annoying if our characters really died forever. But I find that more jarring than toilets and food and water. And in fairness, since I ’ve a bunch of junk food from leveling up chef, my characters actually do eat quite regularly.

Yeah. If you’re familiar with the Log Horizon books/anime, that’s a hugely interesting concept. Player controlled characters therefore become a totally alien set of people relative to the npcs, who are weak/die for good/live relatively limited lives. Adventurers there essentially dropped out of the sky and are not natives.

Our toons of course were written to be natives, and the way point death-cheating bothered me from a writing standpoint. I just chalked it up to “we’ll they can’t very well delete our toons each time, far too hardcore for gw2.”

There is of course the analog called “the hero’s way” which means that the hero never really dies.

But there’s a lore explanation.
In Guild Wars 1 you were “loved by the gods” by lack of an official definition. But it was explained that the gods were still watching the world, and so they would recover you at their shrines. In guild wars 2 this couldn’t happen anymore because we’re more than playing humans now. that, and I think after Abaddon’s fiasco in Nightfal the gods decided to cut what little ties were left. In GW2 (I think) what happens is that you don’t die, but enter a near-death state. Either you use the last of your strength to “waypoint to safety” or the hole-in-the-pocket can see your vital functions drop and pull you out. In either case, it won’t explain why you’re healthy when you arrive at a waypoint, but as said, the hero is always well and alive

Makes me wonder… could there be five (weak) Lazaruses about at one time?

But as Ider says: this (and most Lazarus theories) “makes no logical sence, no buildup and no story cohesion but is “surprising”.”

Honestly with everyone reaching for all these theories, it would be more surprising to the populous for Lazarus to not be a fake at all.

That is actually a popular theory, though, that it’s the real lazarus, but because he’s incomplete, he’s “good”
