It’s hard to say because the map that gets chosen for you also takes into account if a guild member or friend is on one of the newer maps. However if this newer map is also less populated than it makes sense that it gets shut down even though you were just moved to it because of a guild member. This is just another possibility where the server may be working correctly but with unintended consequences.

09. Targeting UI

  • This is not really a bug. Its more of a design flaw.
    When you quickly try to escape a fight with Infiltrators Arrow or Shadowstep, you somtimes end up at your current location because you targeted the UI. When you target a character with a lot of boons and random buffs, it is sometimes exactely in the way of where you want to teleport. Here is a video of what I’m talking about: Video

You can get around this by using the simple UI feature. I also have this issue sometimes (primarily in pve with hero banner buff) on mesmer.

If you read the entire thread you would understand that ranger longbow buffer range exceeds 15% which means it is a bug according to other dev posts linked in this thread.

I agree but even one hit puts you in combat making it hard to get away in wvw. Especially if the ranger is running with others who aren’t in combat as they didn’t hit me which means they can easily catch me. If that makes sense…

This is a slightly annoying bug and a little hard to explain. Before the patch a weapon that was skinned with a legendary skin still showed it’s tier color when hovering over it in your inventory. In other words if I skinned an exotic weapon with a legendary skin the weapon name would be orange as it was exotic (not the legendary purple colored name) in my inventory.

However since the patch a weapon that has been skinned to a legendary now has a purple colored name when you look at it in your inventory. If you control right click it, to link it in chat, it correctly displays the name in the correct tier color. It is only in the inventory that the color is purple, even though the weapon is not a legendary.

This is annoying because I often move my legendary weapons around from character to character, but I have an exotic SKINNED legendary weapon on all my characters. You can’t just glance at your inventory, and the color of the name of the weapon to decide if infact it is the legendary weapon. You have to look at the stats of the weapon to determine if it is legendary or exotic. Of course you could also link it in chat to figure out which one it is, but that would also be bothersome.

I know you guys have alot of bugs to address but I hope eventually this one could get looked into. Thanks.

You’ve reported what you think is a bug. Unless you have new information about it, move on. Spamming the forums or continuing to post in this thread in order to bump it to the top is just going to get you put in time-out.

Actually the linked dev responses confirms it is a bug. Guess you didn’t take the time to read them. 15 percent does not equal 25 percent which means bug.

You placed a custom order which means you will end up spending less if a seller sells it to you for that price. Most likely there were many others after you that placed a slightly higher custom order and therefore you aren’t getting your item. If you want to buy it now first get your gold back by looking at the thing I’m buying option. Then buy it again but instantly , not custom order.

You need to adjust the settings for the log. It is now customizable and the default shows nothing. In its settings you check off what you want to see.

Reactor Fractal Bug?

I was doing fractal 49 and completed the reactor fractal. After killing the anomaly, the group wasn’t ported to “asura heaven” where the chest was. We did get the popup to advance, we were forced to do so without our reward. Bombs and lasers also continued to go off destroying platforms and regenerating them as if Anomaly had not died.

Same issue for me at 40.

Yes it is useless. Do not use it. That’s the most simple answer at the moment.

Also I doubt the patch is fixing it otherwise there would probably be a dev response about this like in the mesmer thread.that and the thread is only 3 days old. Keep posting about this. Get more replies and views. Then hopefully a dev well respond.

I think a manual reset mechanic would be great. I wasn’t saying there’s only 2 ways to lose the hammer. I just meant permanently losing the hammer so that you can’t reset it and it blocks all progress. If you fall on the way up to a seal it is able to be reset and you can still progress. I was just trying to be clear on this because it would be helpful for the devs to know in fixing the issue for situations when the hammer can be reset or when it completely blocks progres.

I do worry that they won’t do a manual way to reset it and not fix the issue with DC ing with the hammer which permanently blocks progress.

this isnt even remotely an issue since the only places this could be abused in a player’s favor is in a pvp environment and after the skill range limit the arrows wont accurately track a moving target.

I could be wrong but I believe that as the projectile speed increases the tracking also improves rather significantly. With new ranger traits and with quickness rapid fire is going to be really fast.

Although 1500 to 2000 is 25% increase. And 2400 is just crazy. I understand its because of the arrows arch but still…. This is really over powered in my opinion. And with the upcoming ranger buffs I think this really needs a fix. Being able to unload rapid fire so quickly from such a great range will be kinda crazy.

I had this problem when I played on a computer that would overheat and didn’t have the best specs. When that started to happen I always knew my computer was starting to overheat and I needed to get a fan out or shutdown. Ever since I upgraded this hasn’t happened for me, tho this is just my experience. Just pointing out it could be something on your end.

There are several circumstances in which the hammer becomes unusable:

  • You fall off the scaffolding walking up and the hammer drops out of reach.
  • You fall into a hole on the platforms and boomerang back to a nearby spot, in the downed state and without the hammer.
  • You get killed while being knocked off the platform and reappear at the bottom, without the hammer.
  • You get knocked back just after swinging the hammer (e.g. by the shield that appears on the seal) and take damage, sending you into the down state.

But the reason I posted the request is that it absolutely shouldn’t matter to your progress if you die, the party wipes, if you fall, if you get downed, if you get KD’d, or anything at all. If the hammer is required to succeed, then they should make sure you can never lose it. Or, since that’s probably impossible to ensure (humans always figuring out something that the computers didn’t anticipate), there should be some way to replace the hammer so that it doesn’t matter that you lost it.

I agree but you only lose it permanetly from falling with the hammer during a seal phase. We are used to working around losing it otherwise and doing the full party wipe. Its been like that for as long as I can recall. You do not lose it permanetly from falling on the way up to a seal.

Edit: I’m not sure what your number 4 means besides getting knocked back into a hole which is the same as number 2. But number 1 and number 3 are fixed with party wipe.

But also add DC to the list as it causes it to be lost permanently.

As far as I’m aware you only permanently lose the hammer from this bug or from DCing with the hammer. Interestingly, I believe they may have changed the mechanics for losing the hammer on the way up to the seal. I don’t know when this occurred. Perhaps the change was made a month ago but doesn’t always work correctly, which may also point to the source of the actual bug that is discussed at length in this thread.

Normally if you lose the hammer on the way up to a seal it floats in the air and you need to wipe to reset it. As others have posted in this thread and several other threads, this was still needing to be done this past month and was a successful method for getting the hammer back in this situation.

However a couple nights ago we had someone blown off the side of cliff with the hammer and I was getting ready to jump off the side to do a party wipe when the hammer actually appeared on the pedal stool where the player who fell was in downed state. This was convenient as we didn’t need to do a party wipe to get the hammer back, which was something I needed to do a couple weeks ago in the same situation.

It also makes sense that this new mechanic would go unnoticed here if it only works once and awhile. When it works people aren’t going to come to the forums to discuss how nice this change is, or even more likely, they won’t take much notice of it. When it doesn’t work people will just do a full party wipe to reset it which everyone has been used to doing, so they wouldn’t mention it here either. However losing the hammer permanently at a seal phase is a different story as we all know lol.

They should fix the Mossman. I’m used to play with my guildies doing legit runs (yesterday we did fractal 43… yeah, the kittene) and it put me in a position where i didn’t learn any of the exploits the community use. So… when i try to join a group that wants to use an exploit; if I say that i don’t know about it, i got kicked, and if i say nothing and pretend that i know it but i fail at it, i got kicked as well.

Short story: The community toxicity kicks people because they don’t know or don’t want to break the Rules that everyone accept when they create their account. That really needs to be adressed.

I don’t know why people would kick you for that. That exploit barely ever works and is just a waste of time. I’ve done fractals 2-3 times a day for over a year (mostly with only pugs) and if they are kicking you for that then they were not going to be a good party anyway. Most pug parties don’t bother with trying to glitch it anymore because it won’t work 95% of the time. Now a few months ago people would do it all the time but since they fixed it, it really doesn’t work.

At this point it needs removed from the rotation until it is fixed. This game breaking bug being here for over a month is NOT acceptable.

It should be fixed with high priority, absolutely.

But I don’t want Cliffside removed from the rotation in the meantime. For one, that takes time (and testing resources). For two, if you’re careful, this particular bug can be avoided. And, to be fair to ANet, this isn’t one particular bug, there’s a couple of ways that the hammer can go missing — what they probably should do is find a way to replace the hammer (e.g. interactable anvil: do you want to destroy existing hammers to get a new one? Yes|No?)

And of course, despite the complexity of the issue, they should fix it ASAP.

First off, I really do like the mechanics of this shard and like how challenging it can be. However, There’s just so many issues with this shard. You can pick the hammer up forever if you know how to do it. You can keep the first arch diviner from doing anything so he just stands there while you kill it……. Used distortion or endure pain? Well hammer won’t charge for you hopefully you still have chanters left to get charge before fanatics come….not to mention how often people now miss the final seal because of the hitting range has been decreased. You can also keep the final boss from resetting like Mai Trin ( although this one I wouldn’t consider an exploit or bug really)…. These things are easy to reproduce but as many tickets I send it doesn’t matter. Of course the deal breaker for me is this hammer bug. The problem is I can easily avoid it but I usually run with pugs as I am in a smaller guild. It doesn’t matter if I warn people or show them where to stand to hit it, pugs are pugs. I do enjoy the complex mechanics of this shard but really at this point it’s brokenness is just too much in my personal opinion.

No but it goes to another issue with any skill that ‘changes’ to another type while in use. Apparently they missed fixing this individual skill and should be changed to destroy the elemental the same way engineer turrets or mesmer mantras are destroyed when you change the skill

But it doesn’t even trigger cool down. Or the cool down is still letting ele switch elite skills. If a mesmer uses his mantras there is still a cool down before the skill can be switched out for something else. This is like a warrior using signet of rage for buffs before going into combat and switching elite out for war banner

I don’t ever play my ranger but this is just terrible. And sadly this does give me one more (big) reason to not take rangers in fotm 50. I rolled warrior for a similar reason with the tons of mesmer bugs. Sorry not trying to derail, but this does need immediate attention and dev response. RIP Rangers

I’ve suggested this before as a band aide though I doubt Anet has read it. If you could make the dance emote, or any emotes that break you out of the glitch, as a key bind this would be somewhat helpful.

It would be much easier to hit one key when this happens instead of trying to type out an emote which is something most players are not accustomed to, which means you won’t be quick at it, which means death.

This won’t fix the issue but I understand how this issue may be too complex to fix anytime soon and I would settle for this band aide approach.

I guess power PU options don’t get much attention ‘cause they simply don’t have the same ability to hide in stealth like the condition variation. Condition PU can allow their clones to do condition damage while they stay hidden, but the power version simply can’t do this and has to actively apply damage, which means stealthing is a net loss damage wise

Maybe a phantasm version but then you won’t get all the good phantasm traits, and damage takes a nerf that way.

I played a power PU version for a few weeks a few months ago, and while the play style is more fun, it is far less effective. That is probably why you don’t hear too much about it, it is simply far less popular.

Anyhow, I see the power version as getting a bit more offense, a bit less defense and the bleed nerf on DD to be irrelevant.

This is a phantasm build and you do take the phantasm traits. Interrupting to get might is the key to this build otherwise your damage is going to be pretty crappy. It’s also easy to hide in stealth when your phantasms are out or just summon them from stealth. Although again you need to time interrupts well which is why I take arcane thievery to steal stability when I need to.

Edit…. I just noticed the linked build does not take bountiful interruption. You need to run this or you are really missing out.

This is the build I use except with Arcane thievery, berserker amulet, and with traveler runes. I agree, this won’t be a nerf to this particular build. Granted the might and swiftness aren’t all that great, but regardless you aren’t going to notice too much of a difference. I may actually do away with traveler runes because of the swiftness. But we will have to see.

The point being, we need to be able to UNcall targets. (I do the same thing myself all the time for the various “hunt” Dynamic Events).

Target your mini pet. It’s annoying when someone targets you as a party member in a dungeon or another area where there is nothing else to target besides other players. Most people don’t like the target floating over their head. So if that happens I just get out my mini pet and target it.

Did you try changing the living story instead of abandoning it as a work around? Like replay another part of the story. Maybe that could work but obviously it is still a problem if it’s a wide spread issue.

This is a known bug and an older thread which I could not locate explained this is low on the devs list to fix. As you pointed out it can be rather easily avoided by making sure you wait for the npcs which can be slow at times. Fortunately this makes it less game breaking than the Cliffside bug which is much harder to avoid.

My guild has decided to stop doing fractals because of this bug. Four times now we have run fractals in the last week, and every single time the hammer was lost on the Cliffside Fractal causing us to abandon the run completely.

On the area where you have to run back and forth between the two seals, there is a crack near the right seal and they push you back when you release them. Every single time a player gets pushed back into this crack. We tried to avoid it , but it seems to be nearly impossible and our Stability uptimes aren’t sufficient enough.

Keep in mind that this fractal usually comes up as #3, not #1, which makes it all the more frustrating since you are almost done with the fractal …

You can avoid the knock back by not getting up on top of the seal to hit it. If you are far away enough it won’t knock you back although you risk missing the hit but that’s not too big of a deal. If you need to get up close to hit it do it from the side so when it knocks you back you won’t go through the hole.

Did you kick anyone from the party? Sometimes when a person is kicked they end up staying in the dungeon. Then if another party member dc’s or leaves the dungeon to repair or something, it will give you this error as the dungeon already has 5 in it. Moving onto the next shard will kick the extra person from the dungeon. Although they will be able to troll you until then.

They are still looking into it apparently…. But yeah it’s easy to replicate with going off the side or down the hole at a hammer phase. Otherwise if you drop it on the way up to a new seal it’s alright and will respawn.

If it’s on their end it’s most likely a ddos attack. When did this happen. Was it yesterday around reset? Otherwise maybe your computer is overheating or having some other type of issue.

It’s always worked this way they won’t change it. Sometimes you save that skill just for the finisher. If you are doing then you should be able to fishing someone without being interrupted. There is some skill to it. Especially like in the case with Mesmer and distortion.

You do realize that there was a ddos attack yesterday right around reset. About 5 to 10 mins after.
