Yeah the RNG system is meh. Wouldn’t work for this game but I liked FF11 loot system where you rolled to obtain drops in your party or “raid” was nice. The drop rates weren’t the best but how the community worked the loot system was great. Most guilds had a point system where your attendance made points and getting a item made you lose some points. The person with the most points would get the item and everyone else would pass on it. If you had tied points with someone else you both rolled. But this allowed for people who put the most time into the game to get the sought out items even though the drops were RNG. Would be nice to have something like this but I think it couldn’t work with the game design.

Well now that my thread is already derailing… My suggestion is about coordinated gameplay more than the Trinity. I titled it the Trinity because it relates in a way from how I view the Trinity. But thanks for your feedback Thad I get your points as well. I just don’t see this game getting a real Trinity which is ok

Yes I know what the trinity is but what makes it so great and interesting and why do people want it?

This is basically what the trinity boils down to: it allows players to have more challenging fights as you need to have players work together in timing certain skills to keep the rest of the party alive or at optimal performance.

To some extent we have some coordinated game play with reflects, water fields, aegis, vulnerability stacking, might stacking (fire fields), and fury uptime “stacking”. However we can get through almost all content without using any of these coordinated play tactics. Granted we might be slower and wipe a bit more but it’s still possible to make it through.

I think what we need is more of the coordinated game play with more dire consequences for not coordinating, so that without coordination of skills, you will be unable to progress. Anet has done this right to some extent with reflect. For example in SW mid lane, harpy fractal, and TT.

My suggestion:
I would love to see more utility mechanics that work like reflect. It would be great if certain groups of classes got different sets of these mechanics. If you would fail to use this mechanic then you would die (especially if you were berserker, maybe make it so you would live if you were knights or soilder). So for example, the snipers in Arah give a unique condition status that instant kill you if you don’t dodge. Guardians, Warriors, and rangers (just picking a random 3, but might be best to do one of each armor class) would have a utility skill to negate this debuff for such an amount of time.

Another similar idea would be use of fields, such as light fields in the sniper example to negate this debuff. So say you blast a light field the debuff that instant kills you is removed. But it can’t be removed from simple condition removal. This idea would be easier to implement as Anet wouldn’t have to make new skills or attach new effects to current ones.

Conclusion:
This is just my thoughts on how to make the game more challenging. I am doubtful we would ever see anything like this because Anet caters to more casual game play which is fine. So I won’t be expecting anything like this but it would be nice and I wouldn’t mind hearing others thoughts on this. And I know this isn’t a real trinity suggestion since this would still allow for berserker meta, but I think this suggestion meshes better with the current combat system for a coordinated group play which is what (in my opinion) the Trinity boils down too (feel free to agree or disagree with that opinion though).

Wow everyone gets so upset. I’m not really worried about this I actually got another chest drop so I have 3 berserker pieces now so I’m seeing how it isn’t a big deal. I mentioned that earlier but someone deleted the post I replied to so my post was deleted too. The only pain is making multiple sets but from what I hear it’s best to just go berserker. Not sure what I’ll do with this healers chest though. And since its account bound I think I’ll just make my second 80 light armor too. Thanks for the feedback but I do see others points now.

I would be opposed to this. Currently we have some glow effect armor such as achievement point armor, aura with legendary, and luminescent armor. Those things are hard to obtain for the most part. If you just add these effects to the gemstone then what is the point of the items that add these effects already?

Almost every thread that has something like “any new content coming before hot?” or “this is broken pls fix” you just go and blindly defend every anet’s move and tell people to do some stupid things like “Filled up the wardrobe with all currently obtainable skins?
Gotten the Fractal Tonic? Gotten all legendaries?” . May i ask why?

I am not blindly defending. I am pointing out facts.

As for the suggestions of things to do: People keep claiming that there is nothing to do in the game. And yet the vast majority of them still have a large amount of stuff that they can do. They just CHOOSE to not do it, and if they choose to not do it, they shouldn’t really come here and complain about there being nothing to do.

There’s a difference between something fun or at least a little interesting to do and something extremely face roll repetitive to do. Fractal tonic really? Having all the legendaries would be more based in RNG and also a lot of people are waiting for HoT because of the precursors/ new legendaries. Why anyone would want all the things in the wardrobe… Of course you can say there’s still all these things left to do but they are so repetitive. Same thing over and over and over. Which is boring. That’s why something seasonal, even old seasonal content, would be welcomed. Sure it would get stale too but at least it would be entertaining for about a week which is better than we have now. But currently it’s like watching the same TV episode over and over again. It would be nice to even have an old Tv episode come on for something different even though we know all about it and it will get boring too. But at least it’s something.

You can also both just hit the “PVP” button up top (it’s the crossed swords icon), and walk across to Lion’s Arch, and meet up there, then go pick a starter city to go to. There are portals to all the cities roughly in the middle of Lion’s Arch

Then again, my husband and I almost always pair up with the same races, then swap up who our mains are once we hit 80 on different characters.

Argueing about this really doesn’t matter. You can make as many rationalizations as you want. But with all these threads created on it over the months, and no dev response. For the most part, I lack a proper imagination when it comes to MMOs. I am a human male, so I struggle to identify in a game with anything other than a human male. My character’s looks very rarely deviate from my own. I don’t RP or anything like that, but for some reason I just feel like my avatar should be as close to me as I can get. Almost like “If I were born into this world, I’d probably still be some version of me” sort of thing.

Any other unimaginative wierdos like me out there? =D

I look mostly like a tree / walking salad man. So I have to go with slyvari. But I understand OP making characters that mostly resemble yourself.

ff14 has one or 2 waypoints per zone. This is why it needs mounts. The zones are also a bit larger. Unless you are in a city where you can’t use mounts. The aethernet system in cities is pretty much the same as our WP system in gw2. But again no mounts in ff14 cities.

I really don’t get this anti ascended argument. Ascended is simply the last tier of gear. Why is that any worse then the stat diff between exotic and rare items? It’s as if because it was added later in the game it represents a gear treadmill?

I have no idea. I’d be fine with only a single tier existing. Actually, i have been advocating removing stats from gear completly for some time already (as its existence clashes with the active combat system).

Well in my opinion it is not hard to get. I have 8 sets. I have about 3k hours logged. With the time gate and crafting it’s kind of tedious and boring. But it isn’t hard. Of course this is my opinion and everyone has a right to their own opinion. Though most of these threads seem to be qq and not wanting to put the time into leveling crafting and then getting through the time gated material. It’s boring but there isn’t anything challenging about farming some gold, leveling crafting, doing SW for the materials, then daily crafting the time gated stuff. Actually if you only want one or two sets if you keep doing this you can make a profit off selling the time gated cloth. So it can pay for itself eventually, granted that would take awhile. But it’s not like gold is challenging to get in this game either.

Right now it is 54g to level to 500 armor crafting and 102 gold to level to weapon smithing. You can get that in a month pretty easily.

We won’t get more dungeons or small raid like content unfortunately. That’s what this game is really missing for me. I think having hard content in general is a challenge for gw2 because of the combat system (even though I love it). In games with the triad you have classes that have skills you need to time and coordinate which makes it challenging. But in gw2 we don’t have that. All they have to work with is dodge and evades. Granted some content like fractals is much easier with reflects, blocks, noon strip, might stack ect. But you can accomplish pretty much everything in game without these things.

If Anet could develop fights that required certain classes to complete the content then we would be able to have more challenging content. Although we would need more skills such as reflect or projectile block and make it more deadly for when you do not use your utility skills to counter whatever this new attack would be.

Maybe I’m not being very clear here and it’s kind of hard to explain. An example would be conditions. Rework them so enemies using them have them hit harder. And rework condi cleanse so that certain classes can only condi clease certain conditions. That would require actual coordination. That isn’t the best example but it’s what I am getting at. Unfortunately I don’t see this ever happening though.

Wtb toggle for making scroll wheel be left click. It’s a pain to set this up and turn this off yourself. If they can’t do “consume all” on right click this wild be the next best option.

+1 if the toggle is in the inventory screen. Or just set it up so I can hit a key on the key board to toggle it on and off.

I think it would be cool to get mount drops like the magic carpet or broom. These drops could be like mini Teq or shatter. Of course they don’t make you go faster. Maybe make it so you can stay on it while in combat. Some other cool mounts could come with completing new parts of the story.

Of course this won’t happen but it would be cool.

really it’s not hard to get ascended gear. I’ve made 2 sets without buying much off the TP besides some lower tier cloth and the insignias. It takes some time to do it this way sure. My first set I grinded gold for and made it quickly. Either way ascended has been around for a long time now. I Haven’t played WoW but my understanding is that the BiS gear is always changing. That’s not the case here. You can be a casual player and still make a set within 6 or so months. It gives people something to do and work toward more than anything. Besides working toward a legendary, in PvE there isn’t much else to do.

This is kind of a side note. But something that always bothers me is when I’m changing gear around and my character comments on how rare it is, like its a drop and he is just seeing it for the first time. For all we know something like that could affect DR for ascended or Exotic drops.

Ok question. If we had the data, or if Anet decided to look into this, how would they even go about this? You would first have to determine there is a problem and that would be the easy part. I would think this could be done by looking at exotic and precursor drops. If it shows a statistically significant pattern then you could say there is a problem.

The issue then would be figuring out what the problem is. That seems like a huge task. It could be anything from some type of DR to RNG to the class being played (since they did that update where youe class affects the drops you get). And some of that pattern you see is actual RNG so to determine what is actual RNG and what is part of the problem would be … Yeah.

Just thought I’d mention this incase if by some small chance that Anet decides to look into this, that they are looking into it in a way that will make sure they finding the peobelm if there is one, and figuring out the source of the problem if possible.

If you were stacking and looking from the back, there had been an issue where weapons were placed higher on the back when wearing an outfit. I don’t know that the length itself was different tho, just that it was placed at a different spot.

Also.. Are you wearing an outfit? There had been some issues with certain outfits and certain races/gender where the outfit changed where the weapon was being equppied on the back. I haven’t checked on that in a long time tho so maybe they fixed it. I know male slyvari for certain had issues and maybe the male humans.

Maybe this would be too hard to implement But…
It would be nice if you only got this prompt when salvaging a rare or exotic while using a kit that is below yellow (rare) or gold (exotic) the items rarity rating.

So if you are clicking through fast with basic kits and accidentally click a yellow it will give you that prompt. But then once you salvage all your blue/greens you can move onto your rares with your mystic kit or rare kit. Salvaging them with that kit would result in no prompt.

I could be wrong but I think that is how it worked in the past with greens? You could avoid the prompt by using higher tier kits back when greens had the prompt thing? I can’t remember exactly so j could be wrong but yeah just my thoughts.

You need 500 in a crafting skill to get it. So it does require skill ;-p
But really it’s not at all hard to craft it. Farm silver wastes and you will have more than enough mats for it.

This would be great. And there is kind of a cycle. Certain zones or dungeons are one time of day. Also you can tell with certain weapons that change with nighttime effects such as an AC weapon.

Also weather would be sweet but that’s asking too much… I recently played FF14 and the thunderstorms are so cool.

Engineers in general. No melee weapons.
There’s a few melee ranged kits, So you use bombs, a toolkit or a flamethrower to pretend to be one of the melee ‘cool kids’ but it’s just not the same.

At least until HoT brings the hammers down.

As for “meta” endgame stuff, people have a min/max mentality when it comes to some things, so everything that isn’t 100% optimal somehow gets seen as “worthless”

As a mesmer, you’re perfectly viable sticking to ranged gear. You don’t HAVE to use a sword. You’ll likely want a more phantasm focused build than a shatter one at range though, I think. The phantasms on GS and Staff are both solid damage dealers.

The thing though is staff/GS is kind of a wonky combination because GS is more power based and Staff is more condition based. If you want both, a stat set like rampager might work, though you’d be very glassy. (All the glassiness of Zerker with none of the hype)

Mesmers have really cool support skills, so you’ll be focusing more on timing reflects and things like that rather than pumping out straight melee damage.

Actually GS is bad dps but it’s our only ranged. Staff is only used for shatter builds. It is also more condition oriented. Do not use staff in PvE for phantasm builds. Mesmer should almost always use GS and sword/focus. Or sword/focus and sword/sword. The up time for reflect through traits is one of the best things mesmer has to offer.

The equalizer already exists in the form of Magic Find. I’m in my third year playing and once got a look-alike of a precursor in Arah. So the chances are very low.

Still, every player has an opportunity to improve their loot through building Magic Find. Mine is at 169% at the moment. I don’t see why things need to be changed.

Normally I don’t endorse the more conservative type of opinions.. but in this case, I don’t see why people are complaining.

Please don’t remove the occasional lucky drops, they add a lot to the fun.

Actually MF doesn’t have much impact at all on good drops. You can look at the wiki but basically it’s only good for rares and higher tier material drops. If getting a precursor is 1/10000, then 200% magic find increases that to 3/10000. That doesn’t make much of a difference. Rares are probably closer to 1/30. And 200% magic find increases that to 3/30 which is a decent increase.

I’d also like to hear about DR. Honestly there’s no point in things like Magic find if we get hit with DR.

Obviously DR and RNG aren’t the same thing. But they both have to do with loot. We don’t know how DR works or RNG works so what we could be perceiving as a possible issue is with RNG, it could actually be DR. Yes we know some specific ways DR works but you don’t know if there is some overarching DR that sticks around for a week or a month or whatever amount of time that affects exotic drops or ascended drops. DR experiments show that it sticks to some players longer than other players for doing the same event. It also kicks in sooner for some players versus other players. But again there’s no way for us to test DR and how it affects accounts long term. We simply don’t know.

On the T3 light armor coat. On the right arm. On the back of the arm… There’s no clothing material. It used to be there but it went missing. Maybe it’s intentional so stinky asura can air out their arm pits.
