AC update with +80% dmg is just insane. (even before the other upgrades)
Usual VS Tower when other 2 servers in EU T1 start playing (aka: after the night/early morning train got 90% of map and upgrade everything to T3) have 3 ot 5 superior ACs placed around gate only.
Add in a balli to take out any catas (because using rams now is just impossible) and gg.
Hope 80% it’s a typo… or you’ve just managed to make most stale Tier in Eu MORE stale and boring.
Issue is simple: you don’t get build diversity by only nerfing stuff, you need to buff crappy skills/traits to do so.
Nerfing OP things is good, nobody can argue here.
Nerfing good (not OP, good, normal, balanced) stuff to the level of underused things just drives ppl to the unique decent/OP build left, which is the exact opposite of build diversity.
Or, if you’ve nerfed everything, the class has surely tons of builds – but all bad – so ppl simply stop playing it.
Scepter was worthless before so it wont really change much.

Aside some very niche builds (that sacrifice efficiency to being a hipster) scepter was worthless already to me – especially in pve.
WvW had it’s fashion only in last month due to confusion dmg not nerfed yet + beam now aoe…. but out of 3 skills only the beam is somewhat useful.
Better stick to sword anyway – atleast there’s a reason to use all 3 skills of my mainhand.
i don’t get it. how can t1 us and t1 eu be so different?
Us servers have a quite even/comparable coverage – they’re more “International” that EU ones, because everybody not in EU is send on US servers.
In EU, coverage is very server dependant (and even then, it can be improved or destroyed massively by a single guild leaving/coming), and in T1 atm VS has a 24/24 force.
When for all the night one server tick +500/600 and others are empyt, there’s not much to say. :p
As other said, staff is defensive, close-ranged and deals steady/slower dmg.
Out of that scenario, well, it’s very lackuster.
As far as roaming/small team fights is concerned, shatter is best option.
For zerg/bigger teams scenarios, i think that glamour wil stay the meta.
Feedback, Veil, Null field, occasional portal are the most powerful set of utility tools of any profession.
A single Veil, allowing your zerg to do a devasting inc before enemy can react, it’s a game changer. Projetcile reflection always rocks in wvw. Mass boon and condition stripping? Yes please. Portal, no need to explain here.
Surely, something will change. You can
a) keep rolling the 20 0 0 20 30 confusion build, and deal with halved dmg
b) change up the trait distribution. 20 in insipiration for glam CD + warden’s fedback will stay imo. 10 pts in illusion aswell. Will be interesting to see how move other 40 trait points.
If you’re running a shatter spec, yes.
20 in Dueling for DE, 30 in Illusion for IP. 20 free points.
Detail is, not everybody runs shatter.
(as other said, 5 pts in illusion are the only mandatory thing.)
Projectile reflection and block will ease your life in there a LOT. Also, condition removal and protection will help. (translated: bring at very least 1 decent guardian, and run will be much smoother.)
Also, of the three paths, P3 is way the best one to run/farm for tokens.
P1 and P2 do are a real pain, if your group isn’t prepared to tackle them.
not all warriors will have the new trait, it does require 30 points to get it (in discipline I think) and even if they do their attacks are still easily dodgeable and even more predictable so your worrying over nothing really :/
Pretty much this, in wvw that trais will be hardly noticeable (all wars have 20 thou and 30 in vit trait lines as default and won’t change that), and in spvp it will be balanced by the fact that any war going deep in 30 discipline will lose quite some defensive options.
Still, wait and see – but don’t think that trait it’s going to be a much huge change. At least, as long as it stays in the end of discipline line.
So it’s down to who started blobbing first or who had the biggest one?

How to deplete excess of tokens:
-gear up alts.
-for cof/coe/hotw/arah, buying rare armor for salvage/forge it’s an option.
-for any other dg, get exotic weapons and trow them in forge for a guaranteed exotic drop, with chance of precursor. (i’d suggest dagger, spark it’s very valuable and daggers costs 300 tokens versus 390 of hammer/staff/GS, which means more tries.)
-buy exotic stuff and salvage for ectos.
-potions and sigils should be tradeable, so if you see interesting prices you can drop some tokens there (but sigils are only x more dmg versus mob kind, so not very sought after, while potions.. dunno.)
-trow them on a mule and let them take some dust until Anet gives us some use for them (lodestones for tokens, hint hint)
Fotm? Tbh i’m seeing tons of warriors in WvW since betas. And they rock, since betas.
Builds kept changing and adapting (now Shout/Hammer + X/Horn is the one on the field), but War have always been there – in the fronline of the battle, crushing stuff.
Realism:
-be grateful if nothing gets nerfed or broke/bugged for no apparent reason.
-those few skill changes
-maybe a bunch (more like a LOT) of needed bugfixes.
Ofc, there are tons of things i’d like to see brought up to a decent level, but that’s already dreaming i fear, considered the trend they took in balancing…
Leave the staff alone, there’s nothing to fix in it, except some buggy behaviors.
Maybe, the only thing that i’d ever might think to change of the staff is skill n°2.
But n°1 is great for sweeping/tagging, n°3 it’s a capless group quickness, n°4 is great buffing (and almost second heal skill if you’re AH), n°5 is great Area denial/guarding (yes, even if defiant and stability bypass it).
While your suggestion makes little sense, i’m all for improving lackuster traits in favor of build diversity (which you can’t achieve only by nerfing stuff… cough cough). And Air is surely a trait line which needs some love.
Issue is simple:
-ppl is too lazy to get better. There are tons of ways to counter or mitigate/negate confusion. Stop spamming skills, cleanse it, wait for it to run off, don’t run into enemy glamour fields, kill the mesmer…just to name a few.
-anet didn’t want to come up with a more clever solution. They could have capped the stacks to 5 or 8… capping to 5 ppl the confusion application of a single glamour field. Making cleansing skills removing confusion not being affected by it. Making multiple confusion sources (aka: multiple mesmers) not being able to stack confusion but over writing each others. And those are just the tip of the iceberg of possible ways to balance out confusion w/o butchering it.
Yet they went for the lazy way of halving dmg.

In PvE Confusion needs a split anyway in it’s functionality, right now it’s utterly useless and it’s the only condition mesmer can apply (decently and reliably. Sharper images and staff are just bad when comes down to dotting stuff).
Waiting 30th to know which will be next Mesmer skill/trait qqers will ask to nerf.

You live in a tier with a weak meta, melee is very strong.
Pretty much this.
If you’re seeing only battles made of 2 zergs trowing each other projectiles and nothing else, you’re in a bad/unskilled/boring tier (or group, facing a similar bad group, at least).
When game gets serious, it’s all about who manage to drop the meele inc bomb first and better.
I find it sad but I think wvw is slowly dying .

It’s partly fault of a flawed system of scoring/rating designed by Anet(facts).
It’s partly fault of server EU/US splitting, which makes (with scoring system) coverage more important than skill or anything else (a unique international servers ladder wouldn’t had this issues).
It’s partly fault (well, it’s more a casuality that a “fault”) of a server due to their force out of scale off time compared to competitors (fact).
It’s partly fault (of Anet again) of losing the only real competitor for 1st place seen il last months, aka SFR, who got butchered by free transfers (fact).
It’s partly fault of VS, yes, their playstyle drove lots of ppl away from WvW and T1.
Intended or not, that’s it – just stating a fact, not really blaming VS on this tho.
It’s partly fault of skill lag that appeared in Feb patch, got worsened in March culling removal one, and isn’t giving any sign of getting away.
And, all in all, it’s a quite sad situation for the top of EU ladder.
Female Norn, Light Armor
Cof Shoulders (Dungeon Rewards) looks silly oversized and floats at considerable distance from the body.
I’ve notice that this seems to happen to Norns only, cause i’ve never Humans/Sylvari Female with such kind of issue. Shoulders are big by design, ok, but this thing on Norn looks plain ridicoulous compared to other 2 races counteparts, i sincerely hope it’s a glitch.

New Item Quality Level – Ascended
While it remains to be seen exactly how many new items are being added in terms of new weapon or armor sets, we do know that a new quality level is being introduced: Ascended. This will be one step higher than exotic quality items, so it will be interesting to see how that impacts gearing up at level 80. As things stand currently, level 80 rares are basically something you only equip while piecing together an exotic set, and from there most people either salvage them for ectos or sell them on the trading post.
Hopefully the ascended gear will be somewhat difficult to obtain, otherwise it might end up greatly devaluing exotics moving forward. New items are also supposed to be hitting the current dungeon vendors, so I’m also curious to see how that will fit into the bigger itemization picture. According to ArenaNet, this new item quality is intended to help give the endgame a more distinct sense of progression, so I’d imagine that there won’t be a massive amount of ascended gear hitting the live game right away either way.
It’s also worth noting that with the update there will be a new resource to harvest, along with 200 new crafting recipes being added. Presumably these will be focused on the ascended quality level as well, so it will be interesting to see how expensive the new recipes will be to create given the current high production costs on exotic gear.
Put a timer on last time online for guild roster, ala GW1.
So, the 3 skins that you can rent have a permanent craftable exotic counterpart.

The issue that you might have heard about is the MASSIVE cost of those items, because to craft them you’ll have to:
-discover the gift recipe. Aka: craft the item that will let you learn the recipe for the gift that will be used to craft the final item.
(It needs crystals + wine (skillpoints) and 250 corn + fang/core/skull depending on gift/weapon. This means that you’ll be able to get this recipe only during hallowee event, or only as long as you’ll be able to get corn + fang/skull/cores from TP.)
-craft the gift (which atm seems the costly thing, 250 oric ingots + 20 ecto + 100 lodestones + a gift from DG).
-use it to craft the (hopefully…) final weapon with atm undiscovered recipe (hopefully – again – nothing more expensive/complicated due to gift being already a big hit to your wallet).
Apart all this little summary, the question i have for you Anet is: are the recipes (for gifts via craft, for items via MForge) avaible after event?
I mean, if i get all the event items i need – corn + fangs etc – will i be able to craft gift/weapon at any given time (aka: when i’ll have enough ecto/lodestones/oric to dump in the gift) or are we supposed to get all the mats durign this week, then all recipes will be deleted/disabled?
Downed is manly a timer when rezzing you is easier and shorter.
About skills, imo tehy could just fix it giving everybody same set – you’ll have to generalize it instead of making them with profession flavour, but would be much better.
A weak attack spammable, a KD/single stomp stopper (like war hammer), a movement (like ele mist), the bandage.
Plus, more limits should be added in wvw about ressing and downing probably.
A couple of these may be a little annoying, but these are not the problems.
The problem is there’s no end game. There’s no WvW progression. There’s no titles or ranking for contributing (think vanilla WoW, warhammer, Aion).
That’s part of the “problem of content itself”, because there are.
Point is, if you can’t get ppl play wvw due to bad managing (esp populations), ppl will leave or ignore the wvw (or even the game) way before hitting those limits you listed.
WvW itself nees work, that’s sure. But the risk is to lose the “petrol” (aka: ppl playing on all sides) way before getting stuff fixed.
About mistakes… there is to consider that some are due to the design, that sometimes messed up with stuff (like outmanned vs orbs buff), but some are not. And imo the miserable state of WvW atm is due to mistakes in managing – not the content itself.
Free transfers is surely main issue – but the problem is that you can’t shut them down ad say “Well, problem solved” because all the time spent with the ability to hop server to server damaged server and population balance – and locking down transfers does NOT solve that.
I don’t know what they have to do, i’m not “the guy who comes giving you all the answer because i’m a better dev than them” but top priority should be:
-balance out population (the tricky one)
-remove EU/US splits
-tackle the nightcapping issues
I know that the 3 thing are strictly correlated (removing EU/US is part of it, and consider now that most of servers are trying to get more timezone cover, so if the only way t be competitive is be a international server on both sides, mash them all togheter then, no point keep un the splitting), but those are the major issues not related to engine or game itself – stuff there needs work too, but i’d choose to get the people on server factor “working as intended”, lock down transfers, and them work on the game itself, rather than getting content working fine but nobody playing it on lots of servers due to WvW imbalance.
Problem is, more time runs, worse the situation get – and i’m not sure that the damage already done by almost 2 months long free transfers can be recovered.

With some kind of incentive system to join less dominating servers, WvW matches would auto-balance themselves.
They’r planning to make transfer to lower tier pop servers cheaper.
But…
is just me or somebody else think that that’s not such a great incentive – and ppl won’t move?
I guess I don’t understand the WvW bandwagon thing. Why flock en masse to a server that is dominating? We’ve had some weeks recently where at times, we have owned every single contestable point in all maps. That’s not fun pvp.
Server wins, ppl go there.
Server lose, ppl abandon it.
Simple as that .
If paid server transfers were activated, a lot of this flip-flopping would stop. Either that or give incentives to join less dominant servers. Until then, I’ll keep checking Jade Quarry server status at all hours of the day, so I can eventually return home.
Free trasnfer surely messed up a LOT with the wvw. Really a lot – to the point of the state we can see now.
But closing now transfers would probably “freeze” populations, with all the unbalance that is all around – and this could be even worse than extending free transfer duration.
Or, other option, they haven’t get the guesting thing working yet.
Afaik, aside FR – DE – SP servers (for obvious reasons) in EU zones the chat language is almost always fully in english.
So are you saying that instead of being the victim of nightcapping. we should transfer to an EU server so we can become the PvD nightcappers?

Yeah, when in response to nigthcapping moaning Anet said “In war and love everything is allowed” it became this for community:
“Get yourself too a night/morning crew, or stop QQing getting stomped by who has it”.

Imo, they should directly get rid of server separations EU/US, cause if mixing the timezones is the only way for servers to get competitive (US guys on EU night, and viceversa) that’s what everybody will try to do – making EU/US split useless.

Lots of EU servers are looking for US guys. Gunnar’s Hold would get much better cause atm it has nobody at those hours, and even if daytime things go well, since the 7days switch of matches, when holding stuff by night became essential for the outcome of a figth, it lost a lot of ranks (and due to this ppl) – i bring it as example cuz it’s the server i’m on, and can see directly what happens there, just that.
But it’s not the only one.
Longer the fight goes, better the DPS get – in normal PvE/DEs it’s a problem, in DGs where every mob is a vet or boss, it’s golden.
Very few builds can do same DPS of 3x traited Duelists unloading havoc on the same mob.
So, i’d just like to know if it’s only me being blind, or Leggins (light armor) of the karma armor set of orr (the deity 42k exotic one) do NOT comes with the Power/Thoughness/Vitality stat combo (while the other 5 armor pieces do) but only in Prec/Thou/Condition Dmg (5 vendors on 6!) and Prec/Vit/Healing.
Cause it’s a bit annoying – i want that skin and those stats, seen other pieces and when i’ve discovered that legs doesn’t come with that combo, had a “What the *?” moment.
And getting a dungeon armor for the pow/vit/thou stats and then have to transmute on the karma skin is even more annoying – so much gold and time invested/farmed.
And can’t figure out WHY legs do not have that combo, not a single reason (apart forcing ppl to grind for another exotic piece with those stat and for a fine tstone).
Just asking: it’s me missing it or really does not exist?
Ps: and if a Anet dev is reading this, i’d like to know if it’s intended – or there’s hope to see that combo stat added to the Light leggings, that atm have only 2 options while rest of set has 3.

The only issue of Mortar is that is has real usefulness in a such small niche that seems to be awful.
Actually, if you palce it well and give it in the hands of somebody that does not have ranged options (aka: guardian) it CAN be useful in wvw (in pve/spvp the overstated niche does not exist, period).
But that’s it. Mortar is ok in really too few situation, atm, thus is a bit underwelming
Same for the peeps not doing well in PVE. May be the Mesmer isn’t a toon for you. No shame and I’m not flaming here.
I had no problem whatsoever in PvE with Mes (after you hit 60 and get the hang out of it, and do not pretend to 1-button – AoE your way trough mobs with stellar dmg).
Just, since today, seems that the reward aren’t anymore on par with the challenge (that i like) – and time – to get stuff work.
Maybe that’s me, but i’ve simply lost a lvl 70 char. Now parked in HotM indefinitely waiting for better times in pve.
I’m a PvE guy. I have a Guardian and Engineer to 80, and a Mes to 70.

After today’s patch, lost any interest in Mes for PvE – parked her in HotM for when i’ll want to step in pvp, whenever it will happen.
I mean, Mes in PvE was already a pain in the “youknowwhat” to use. Even more, to get it work on par with other prof.
Since today, it just lost any sense, it’s only struggling SO hard for so little reward.
Anet: you created PvE/PvP splits. It’s time to use those.

In GW1, it was such a basic yet useful feature for guild leaders/officers at keeping the guild clean of abandoned acc and such, and is such a little thing that shouldn’t be that huge work to add.
Simply, put another column in guild roster or guild main page near the name of offline members.
Gear does matter, but in WvW it’s a bit different.
Because you’re not alone, and the big numbers, the cap point (and to kill count) sistem and siege weapons on the field makes the gear of the single player less important.
Thus, you can be even a group of full exotic true lvl 80 vs lvl 30 group, but if they have an arrow cart, or are the double of yours, or holds longer/more points, they’ll win.

I just wanted to point out, at least for EU servers, that after the first publishing of rankings, full guilds and loads of players are quickly using the free transfer.
But not in the intended (by Arena, i guess) way.
They’re running from losing servers (Fissure of Woe, apart any kind of issue with the population, it getting more and more empyt) and flooding winning ones (Gunnar’s Hold went from istant/10 min queque to min 1h, from ligth/med to high /full).
Which means that the first will be always worse, and same for the latter due to longer queques. Plus all the e-drama due to communities moving of servers.
Just asking, what do you think about it? US servers are almost all high/full, so probably it’s more evident on EU ones.
Imo, free transfer + public rankings = players leaving losing ones to get in winning ones, which makes both the servers (the starting and the destination ones) less playable (first lose players, seconds get queque times skyrocketing). At least transfers and new accounts shouldn’t have been able to go towards high/full server, because atm the trend isn’t that good, splitting in empyt and overpopulated servers the WvW.
Not fun for both cases.
Race change will never be implemented, cause it impacts a lot on personal story.
Sex/appareance instead it’s almost sure imo, it were avaible on GW1, i don’t see any reason to do not add it in GW2.
Ring of Warding and Line of Warding work on friendly NPCs with a set movement path, like the wandering NPCs in cities.
Yeah, i’ve seen it in action when ppl to unbug some SP (orrian weapon in Straits, for example) use it on friendly NPC that get stuck and does not allow SP complection.
Virtue 1 + renewed justice = burn spam. And i use it almost everywhere in pve/wvw.
The other 2 does not looks that good to share – regen is not going to make the difference in a wvw zerg if you’re overwhelmed, for example.
Aegis…has a extremely long recharge. And you’d have to foresee and time perfectly it with a powerful attack directed to somebody else to get the best out of it…. not that great. Worth using it only with renewed focus, imo.
Might be a minor one, hard to check or already reported, but:
-Renewed Justice: randomly does not work, even when you get full credit for kill (loot-solo play).
I’m still looking foward for this cause doen’t seems to have a true pattern.
So far, seems that it does not work properly inside caves. But not always. Arkward.
(always solo play, so it’s always full credit of kill)
Problem is not Ground targeting per se.
It’s putting it on the Autoattack skill that you have to spam to keep DPS up that it’s a pain to use.
It’s matter of “playing comfort”. And grenades, due to that skill n°1, are very uncomfortable.
Switch kit → use 2-3-4-5 as neeeded → switch back to rilfe/pistol. Only to get a not idiotic and cluncky to use autoattack, especially when moving.
Wall of reflection, Ring/Line of warding (to trap enemies under friendly AoE’s), Sanctuary (res or build siege weapons safely)….all great addictions to a WvW group.
The only concern in playing that kind on Guardian in wvw, is that atm i’m not sure how much you’ll get rewarded, if bronze/silver/gold medals are given based on DPS like in PvE.
Just rework the autoattack to do not root you in place, and i’ll be a happy 1H sword user.
