Illusion
The Minor Adept trait “Illusionists Celerity” has been made the Minor Grandmaster trait and the other Minor traits have been pushed down.
If this happens… well, lets just say it wont end well for whoever proposed this change.

In few words: so far Mes has been balanced including that trait in the baseline.
Like phantams few months ago were balanced basing on thei perfomance when traited for istant attack: bug got fixed, the balance based on that went nuts.

Issue of PvE is it being complete crap and easily exploitable by raw DPS.
In other words, current PvE state is not class unbalance per se – even if there are discrepancies – but poor design.
If PvE required something more over DPS, heavy CC profs like Engi would have their place again in pve. (example.)
Balancing classes in PvE has no point as long as you’re not acting direcly on the cause – horrible design.

Now i d better have a complete split….But its quite true that they remove FUN from pve players (biggest population) to push pvp nobody wants…(almost non existent population).
WHen they destroy build and professions every single patch you start to hate the reason why that happens.
Again: pvp players are self-entitled cause they’d like it to be fixed, but claiming pve to need to be top priority and let other modes die isn’t.

In WvW i prefer Ele over Mes already. Nec is a strong class for that too.
In PvE i use War and Mes manly. Have a Guard, but the playstyle is so boring i literally wouldn’t get back to it even if it remains the only viable class.

If you really used 3 times Unload back to back before realizing there was retal, those 7k+ of dmg are totally deserved.
From what I got from the official Patch Notes:
Guardians buffed a lot in damage and survivability.
Rangers buffed a lot in utility and survivability.
Necromancers buffed a lot in utility and survivability.
Elementalist buffed in damage and defensive utility.Warriors nerfed a lot in damage, utility, hybrid and given a little survivability to compensate, to bad it only works when we don’t need it…

Who here hasn’t looked at Illusionists Celerity and said, “Wow. Thats… really beastly for 5 points.”
I looked at it and always said “Thank you for making half of our skills somewhat usable.”
Wouldn’t be a problem if clones/phant generating skill, our source of dmg…and utility..and decoy…and class mechanic didn’t have kittenely long CD’s.
Yeah… these “previews” … we’re getting all riled up over unverified, unofficial “leaks,” right? I’m still questioning their validity.
Time will tell!
They might be fake, but if so, someone has quite the sense of humor to muck with something as important as illusionist’s celerity in their ‘leaked’ patch notes.

The only thing that could make this change have a little sense is if base CD’s of all summons skills (all the ones affected by IC) gets lowered.
This way 5 pts would actually be freed (you have actual IC CD’s w/o taking it) for most builds, and at same time dipping points in illusion would have even more appeal as offset, even outside shatter builds.
Ofc this should be followed by some tweaks – like not having IC and single weaponset traits stack for a 40% Cd reduction on summons in weapon skills, but that’s the only things that could have sense, and that could be possible to hope w/o the weapon skills in that leak.

The issue with confusion were manly the ability to apply it on massive scale.

Illusionist celerity, if true, is HUGE (nerf).
Remember the usual “mes is crappy baseline and has good traits that makes it decent”?
Well, the CD on phantasm are retartedly long as base. IC was MANDATORY for any mes build – i can’t think more that 2-3 without it.
Moving it 20 pts further it’s a incredible butchering for 90% of mes builds out there. Only ones not touched are Shatters (30 illusions for IP), and the very few ones w/o pts in illusion already.
I really hope that this is fake too – at least have to wait only 24hrs or so to find out.
At this point might aswell wait for official notes tomorrow.
Those do looks like even more accurate (the ones leaked some days ago were probably a early state, looks like there has been some iteration), but patch is tomorrow so…
Rabid + Undead is a standard combo, to take advantage of Rabid Toughness.
Also, Undead runes are extra cheap, so it’s a good starting set – you can look to some more specific/interesting stuff later.
What does the confusion fix mean?
I’m thinking to single skills made of multiple hits that procced a lot of confusion.
For example Dagger Storm, while being a single skill, procced confusion on every single dagger launched (actually killing user if under confusion). Or skills like rapid fire, proccing conf for every arrow fired.
Tbh i think it do make sense as it is (if that’s the fix), you use a single skill but do multiple action, so confusion punish for every single one….but well, dumbing down the game when comes down to use brain to counter confusion isn’t a news.
As far as I know, no developer has said that the colors are used for balancing.
Yet there are glaring unbalances – see red able to treb everything in his zone + SM for his keep safety.
The issue is that making the red server having somewhat an “advantage” made some sense because reds used to be the 3rd server, so ideally the weaker/newer one in the tier.
With randomized matchmaking, you can easily end up with giving the “underdog buff” to the biggest/most powerful server, which makes the unbalance in EB map a problem.
If you can’t anymore have the weakest server in the best side with consistency, might aswell get rid of the unbalance.
I want to say just one thing – alert, it’s strictly WvW related:
drop that useless signet of Rage and slot the awesome Battle Standard in wvw zerg battles.
You should have 30 in Tactics line (for healing shouts) which means 30% boon duration, and Quick Breathing (for extra cond removal).
With that setup the Horn n°4 recharges in 12sec and grants 13sec of Swiftness, making it nearly perma just by spamming it (“nearly” due to cast+aftercast, it’s like 1 sec of drop), plus Sword MH for leaps (main dmg weapon hammer).
Might is stacked with blast finishers (remember that now Horn 5 is a blast too) and fury by multiple warriors FGJ, so please drop the elite sig for banner.
AoE downed/Npc(manly lords. it’s bug, but used anyway) res + blast + boons is so much better.
(all referring to usual Hammer+S/H 0/0/25/30/15 or so shout build for zerging)

The not gtaoe targeting is part of the balance of the skill (which is insanely good).
They seem to be put together by some tPvP guys who thinks they have a good grasp of the current meta but really don’t understand how some of the other classes they haven’t played, really works. And it’s plainly obvious WvW and PvE wasn’t even in consideration for any of these changes.

A little drop in dmg and crit chance will hardly affect it in any noticeable way.
spvp focused discussion when it’s the weakest aspect of the game. Let them have it, they need it… poor spvp players under the delusion they might still get an esport.
But, the problem is all the PvE & WvW players get effected by the class balance changes that come out of the SOTG and we have NO say in it…

It will apply a random boon (from the ones in the pool) every single sec in sthealt.
Dueling is by far one of the best designed Trait lines, in the whole GW2, not only Mes.

I see your point, but imo this could be easily fixed with adding “Fear does not apply to already CC’ed targets”.
So you can’t launch/pull/fear somebody into a wall and then lock them there w/o chance of getting control of their char.
Applying it to “2 walls trap” scenario:
-run in 1st wall
-get feared to 2nd wall
(if walls are close each other making feared target run in 2nd wall)
-2nd wall can’t apply fear cause target is under fear from 1st wall
(if walls are too far each other so feared target do not run in 2nd wall)
-target gets control over his character before hitting 2nd wall and thus not getting feared again.
But aside this scenario, it’s totally possible imo. Don’t forget that it’s possible to trap ppl in 2 Line of Warding (guard 5th staff skill) since release – and those knockback you if you run in w/o stability.

What a weird way to prevent a double immob on GS #4. If they go with this, they should show ICDs instead of making us keep up with all the ICDs for every trait, sigil, etc.
Im sure that they put ICD just to prevent the constant immobilize from sword cripple and they forgot about greatsword 4.
Don’t forget hammer shock.
Aoe cripple able to become aoe immobilize with 10 mere trait points.
Pretty sure now it will immobilize 1 single target and cripple the other 4.
If they could only fix a bit the hitbox of TC to make it a reliable pojectile disruptor (with warden’s feedback), i wouldn’t mind the pulling getting delayed.
The only real issue of staff is that animations are so looong…and aftercast too.

You know, that pvp mode that is treated as extension of pve, for the joy of all players who take it seriously.
I see much more buffs/fixes/opportunities than nerfs.
I mean, nerf count is:
-cleansing fire no more stunbreak (nobody use this in a cantrip build due to CW+regen on cantrip combo anyway)
-lighting flash no more stunbreak(which will stay istant cast, so it’s like a gtaoe phase retreat. oh and got nice CD reduction)
-bountiful power nerfed of 50% (….of 2% dmg. so you lose 1% dmg for boon with this patch. wow. this will destroy every ele dps attempt, ! /sarcasm)
-and..uh..end.
Now go list all buffs.
Think whatever you want, this seems great patch, at very least as starting point.
My WvW Staff Ele is still at full power, untouched and ready to rock, at increased casting speed since 25th.
