After their perfomances in matter of balancing during this 10 months, everytime there’s in a patch a generic “balancing” point i just think “ok, let’s see what they’ll mess up this time…”

Ah, and hope that dungeon and rewards will be handled a bit better than other ones so far. I’m fine with it being temporary (still thinking it’s a waste of time and resources, but w/e), but i really really want some of the datamined skins. Just hope it’s not again usual “opne the chest and cross your fingers” RGN (even worse, Cash Shop Boxes RGN).

There is no WvW leaderboard because the whole mode is considered (by Anet) an extension of pve rather than pvp with its needs.

Who cares of Wars.

The issue is that PvE design is weak, and DPS breaks it so easily it isn’t even funny.

Fix that, and the “War > Guard/Mes > other classes” issue will disappear (well, trowing in buffs to the “other classes” wouldn’t be a bad idea).

I’m kind of tired of the OP Honestly warriors are in such a terrible place atm I could go on all day.

Buffing to make them on par and buffing adrenaline to nonsense are 2 different things.

Not saying wars are fine (in pvp), neither that adrenaline additions are a bad idea – might be a very nice way to give more depth to the class while balancing it.

But..

Brawn: 2% Chance to gain a strike of adrenaline per hit. (up to 60%.)

F2: Indomitable Burn a bar of Adrenaline, convert a condition into a boon.

F3: Shield of Rage Burn two bars of Adrenaline, gain 10% damage reduction from all sources for 20 seconds, Stacks up to three times.
When you use it once it gives you 10% for 20 seconds, when you use it again it gives you 20% for 20 seconds, when you use it again it gives you 30%, then when you use it again it gives you 30%, but just refreshes the duration. If you don’t keep it up it goes back to 10% and you have to start all over again.

F4: Fearless Dash Burn all three bars of adrenaline and charge your foe, become immune to conditions for a short duration.

Converting up to 3 cond to boons
20 sec of protection (10% x 3) – ah, and cause you’ve worded “10% damage reduction from all sources” i suppose it’s not a boon, thus not strippable. Also, with th extra functionality you’ve added, means 30% perma dmg reduction, as long as you can fill up 1 adren bar every 20 sec.
Immunity to conds + another leap

Without CD except the adrenal gain, which gets buffed by Brawn and is already skippable with some utility/traits…
It’s completely out of whack.

Proposed traits too.

Again, nice idea, agree with direction and all, but not with those skills/traits.

HB isn’t the only or better source of damage in PvE.

Agreed. I’m not a fan of HB/GS tbh, Axes fits my playstyle much better.

The thing of HB is not the dmg (well, even if it’s insane). Is Forceful Greatsword Might on Crit Trait.

If you can hit 3 or more mobs, HB is a istant 25 stacks of might – that’s the real deal.
While ofc it’s worthless in pvp…

Only the N1 and N3 skill are good actually.

N2 is a PvE move. In pretty much any PvP setting other then a gankfest it has no decent use. In higher level Fractals it becomes mediocre as well, as the last hit does the biggest damage, and you will often interrupt it before that (or die).
N4 could be good, but the projectile needs to move at least twice as fast. As it is, it’s probably the most easily avoidable move in the entire game…..
….Matched only by GS N5… This skill has such bad pathing and a clunky animation, I don’t remember every hitting anybody that wasn’t standing still. As is, you can only use it to get away (it is good at that, sure).
Don’t start about the F1 please. Please.

N°5 concept isn’t that bad: it’s just clunky and avoidable. Fix the pathing and maybe trow in some bonus if it lands (CC, boon on you or cond on foe).

HB is high dmg move, but it’s worthless in pvp. Needs a split (touching the favourite toy of any PvE war? anet will never dare) to improve effectiveness – like reducing the cast time or the dmg taken, something along those lines.

F1 needs a total rework across all game modes. (not excluding some interactions with the HB reworking/splitting)

AH build with Zerg Equipment, why?

Anyway, I’ve seen here some topics talking about AH builds with Zerg or Knight gear, but I wondered why? Is that only for PvE, or WvW too? How it goes for WvW if, with AH build with all Zerg or Knight gear you only have 300 healing power, which I think is low for a Guardian.

You can think of builds belonging to 3 roles:
Offense, Defense, Balanced.

As you play against other players you’ll earn experience and you’ll notice two things:

1. Offense is great against other Offense types. Whoever hits first, or combo better, wins.
2. Defense is great against multiple opponents, and can beat Offense with ease. Against other Defense types, it’s always a long, outlasting, or draw battles.

So, what’s a good way to face both Offense and Defense types? A Balanced one.
Now it’s about of how achieving this Balance. You need both offense and defense.

You can Gear offensively, and Trait defensively, or you can Gear defensively, and Trait offensively.
The most popular (in sPvP) is Gear offensively (Berserker/Knights) and Trait defensively (Valor/Honor) because they synergize well with the profession’s mechanics.

You leave all your defense to Vigorous Precision + Selfless Daring (more dodges, and heal every dodge), AH (heal constantly), high Toughness (and take less damage when you get hit), focusing anything else you can for offense.

Just adding in: personally i use
-PTV armor + Knight trinkets in WvW. I play a support/balanced build on guard, so dmg is not important. but you still have quite a bunch of power.
-full knight or kinght armor + zek trinket (or the opposite) in pve. higher dmg, cause in pve you can avoid much more dmg compared to wvw.

All of this on a usual 0/0/30/30/10 – 0/0/20/30/20 – 0/0/30/20/20 build, depending on situation/mood/party.

The devs need to balance the usefulness of stuff besides DPS to achieve this however; right now the PvE metagame is all kinds of broken.

+1.

No need to kill the DPS builds/making bosses less weak to them or anything like that.

Change Defiant to make CC’s worthwhile (but not abusable for a full time boss CC lock).
Change Ai to be less exploitable.
Trow in some fights mechanics to test the resilience of characters.
“Soft” enrage boss status, timer or life based, manly when bosses have some unique mechanics to make dps mandatory only for final blow (i mean, placing enrages in current state would just push further the DPS or nothing meta. fights needs other reworks before this.)
Less “no dmg or one shot (usually random)” bosses. Less dmg sponges bosses.
More phased bosses (like lupi), at least final ones.

Just few things on top off my mind.
Oh, plus all the
fix bugs
fix rewards/time/effort ratio
and other usual DGs problems already discussed elsewhere.

Feeding the Zerg: Best foods?

Among the others, with the straight main stat bonuses (Vit/Pow/Thoug/Prec) you’re never wrong.

lvl 400 steaks (Truffle, Fire Flank, Orrian): +100 power, +70 prec/cond dmg/vit (respectively)
truffle soup and risotto: +100 cond dmg, + 70 vit/prec

and so on.

+100 and +70 to two main stats (pick up what you prefer) are always welcomed, and runs well on almost every build.

Omnomberry compote is another “never hurts” buff.

Imo the main reason why they will not change HB in any way in a foreseeable future, is to do not displease the PvE crowd where HB is a huge part of the War Derpserker Meta in DGs (great aoe dmg, easy stacking of might – 25 stacks are normal business if you hit 3+ mobs, Ai stupid enough to eat the whole animation).

Old matchmaking but with ratings reacting/adjusting faster is my best bet.

Current one trows in RGN to make matches, which is plain kittened.
WULD creates every week a Tier(X-1 )vs.TierX vs. Tier(X+1) in every match except T1 and T9.

Old matchmaking was taking n accout ratings for a somewhat balanced matches, issues were
-it didn’t take accout of a lot of important things, like population spread across day
-it was too slow to adjust for kicking up or down of a tier servers (Desolation has been in T1 for more than one month while being outmanned 5:1 at any given time of week and losing matches of 100-200k, instead of dropping off T1 after 1st or 2nd blowout)

Bring back old matchmaking, fix those things, done.

Needs to be much much much less exploitable. Both in terms of enemy (locking outmanned side in spawn) and griefing.

Best thing could be making it a structure upgrade with a set points to be placed: pay the upgrade, choose in which point avaible you want it to be built.

Making it a blueprint and spammable almost everywhere is open to way too many manipulations. Like traps. Which didn’t fall in that kind of use due manly to cost and usefulness – removing supply is very powerful tool, but this is able to hold up a whole zerg…

Matter of taste i guess – but the point is just that in 10 months GW2 had nearly 0 competitors, while something decent is coming up in next months, now.

As for your problems that you point out in GW2 i suggestion that you play with GOOD players because as far as i can tell you have tried pvp wvw even pve in the most shallow way possible because you have no idea what going on there at all.

Just pointing out, i listed AA and Wildstar only cause they will be the next mmos on market with a decent chance to hold their ground.

Best competitor during Gw2 lifespan so far has been Neverwinter, which is cr*p (imo).

No competition made GW2 able to slack hard. 10 months and still singlemode and unbalanced pvp. Wvw is a zergfest loosing meaning every day more, due to choices adressing it as pvers timewaster rather than real pvp option like a lot of ppl plays it. Pve…well, i’ll stop here already.

Just saying that with some more pressing competition maybe we would have had some REAL game changing patches, rather than temporary living story stuff.

Depends what will be actually released in upcoming 6 months.

So far the competitors are so bad that Gw2, even with all its flaws, it’s prolly best option on the market atm.

Just saying, GvG shouldn’t be resticted to a single mode.

“Current” one is Deathmatch for the simple issue that without any support/feature from game/anet is almost impossible to do anything else.

If istanced sections of maps are made for a GvG scene, it’s always possible to have multiple modes.
Deathmatch, GvGvG, and why not, over a istanced objective.
Guilds in Gw1 were playing in HA (3 way and with some intereting mechanichs like relic run), not only in GvG.

Btw, Guard is by a long shot the most well rounded prof both for traits and skills.

Sure, Radiance and Zeal might have some love, and there are some gimmick/bad traits..
Sure, Spirit Weapons are almost never used outside Shield for extra bubble in pve..
Sure, Scepter is broken and Sword needs serious improvements…

But overall Guard are in a extremely good position.
Ofc still hoping for some improvements, but it’s just matter of fine-tuning and fixes here and there, imo.

Dust solution was needed because
-price of dust were WAY out of whack for the uses we have of it
-price of ectos were a little too low, due to added multiple ways to get a lot of those daily.

This fix work decently on both issues. Sure, best thing would have made Orr and open wordl farming effectve again, but at least this fix is here NOW instead of getting orr (and prices) fixed in 2 months. If orr get fixed, this solution can always be disabled.

About lodestones, tbh, i think they’re ok. They are supposed to be hard to get as rare mat, but the main difference is that most of them have a specific way to farm (unlike dust before fix), so as long as there isn’t any DGs nerf/change the prices will be stable.
Maybe make possible to buy a lodestone/core for x (150/250 each or so) token of said DG: how to put more lodestones in market and take away tokens from ppl who have stacks and stacks of them in storage.

Dust price is bouncing right now, trying to find it’s spot.

In a couple of Hrs went down to 14s/10s (Sell/Offer), then back to 20s/18s, now is 16s/14s…

I wouldn’t make calls on price of dust till tomorrow.

Well price of ALL T6 mats might drop a little.

Manly, because now that T6 Dust is no longer out of control, the transmutation at MForge makes sense again.

I personally was sitting on quite a few stacks of various T5 mats because transmuting wasn’t profitable.

Did few tries, Ectos seems to yeld 1 to 3 T6 Dust.
Also, seems that the very lowest roll is 1 Ecto = 1 T6 dust so far, no fail in salvage neither rolling T5 dust.
Used a Master Salvage Kit.

I suggest you to farm even more the boss events for rares. Or CoF P1.

I’m thinking centaurs or an earth ele. They’re not going to give us a full dragon for free.

A dragon turning up != fighting a Dragon.
We actually KNOW that a Dragon is waking up (based on Arah Explorable) so it is fully possible that they will actually show us the actual awakening and/or set the stage for it.

Primordus coming out of earth, spreading lava and destroyers troughout the whole Kryta.

Map-wide dinamic events for repel the invasion, invaded map change each week.
kitten , i want a Destroyer horde assaulting Divinity’s Reach, to defend a-la LotR epic battle style.
New DG: delving in the deeps of the fissures destroyers came from to face Primordus.

Manly because the last time i’ve unequipped Sword on my Mes was when unlocking GS/Staff skills below lvl 7 (for weapon swap).
Since that point, anything and everywhere and anytime, one of the 2 sets has always been S/x.

its a stable DPS-Build and far away from bad, no matter what the ‘whole mesmer community’ brings for arguments. sure, there could be more utility…. but hey, its a DPS Spec. and it fits its role.

You’re missing the point.

Regardless of profession, a glass cannon with 0 utility is justified only by HUGE dmg.
Like warriors.
They do lose everything for dmg? (like this build) They do. But their dps gets crazy.

Even in this setup, instead, the mesmer DPS is not even comparable both for single and multiple targets.
In this case the utility loss has simply not enough dmg in return – that’s it.
The little more dmg of this build (compared to “usual” one) is not worth the loss of all the utility, support and sustain.

It’s glassy, has decent dmg (from a mesmer perspective), but if i have to pick up a DPS member in your team with 0 utility which job will be “kill stuff”… i’d pick a warrior.
For the simple fact that has 5 times the dmg potential, while still offering 0 utility.
