Neither Zerk stat or Crit Dmg mechanic have ever been broken.

yeah because getting hit for 12-16k damage when you have high toughness and Armor is perfectly fine.

Because that’s not due to Armor/Thoughness being crap, instead of dmg being too high.
Because you’re not supposed to avoid dmg, instead of facetank it (be it pvp or pve).
Because that’s not a issue limited to few not-so-well-balanced builds and skills.

Yeah because it is just THAT easy to defend yourself against damage from someone you can’t see and don’t know is there…

Damage IS to high when someone with high Toughness and Armor can still take more than 50% of there health in damage in under a second…

What they choose to do likely was the only solution to tone down zerker without making condition damage OP everywhere ruining over the battle system for everyone

No, it’s just the lazy solution.

Neither Zerk stat or Crit Dmg mechanic have ever been broken.

What is not working is the content, but rewriting the numbers of stats and how those fit in the dmg calculations is way faster and simpler than actually changing bosses and content with new skills, new animations, new AIs, new mechanics, bugfixes everywhere, etc.

Wouldn’t be easier and make more sense to just add cleaving to Dagger autoattack?

Axe is ranged, so it’s not going to happen and new weapons are even less probabile.

People seem to be really behind the times on this.

There are still people out there that believe that 3 War + 1 Guard + 1 Mes is the best party setup for everything, that War has best DPS and that every other class is suboptimal.

I know that usually most of the community catchs up with the meta on a 3-6 months delay, but this is really getting silly.

Biggest “Wasted Potential” in the MMO industry of latest years.
Base game already had some glaring flaws, but the year after launch would have been the most important factor.
Crunching content, game modes, Guild Halls, GvG, revising design errors and so on would have made up the faults and allowed the game to evolve further.
Instead we got ascended fiasco, LivingTemporaryGrindySwallowContentStory, Time Gating and more focus on Cash Shop than anything else in the game.

Still lurking forums, on the fence if something (they said Feb/March 2014 for big feature updates no?) shows up, but i doubt they’ll be able to compensate for the time lost – admitting they’ll ever get over the mistakes they’ve done and fix them.

TL;DR: Fine unless you use exploits, kick players to sell spots, or scam, or anything else that breaks the user agreement.

Also, joining groups and purposefully kick/disband them in order to delete their istances (cause you’re a white knight that must smite the dungeon sellers plague) should be banned aswell – just like kick for selling, which do is bannable and wrong.

Stronger or not screens shows a problem that has to be fixed…..

The only problem is in bads and in people’s mind that can’t look further than War.

Ofc is totally possible that Gw2 playerbase, considered the average skill/game knowledge level, won’t evolve past the step “War/Guar/Mes > all” (which is BS).

-stop pugging, you have friend list and guilds for a reason

I’m pretty sure burning is effected by crits since I swapped in some cavalier gear in place my magi and my burn damage went up so I need to see some of your math on that to get a better idea of what you’re talking about. There are also really in-depth guides to pve burning so it has to be good, no? Plus dungeon bosses hit so hard how you supposed to stay alive with a one hand sword?

WPs are fine, makes everything faster and easier, if you’re worried about immersion (kinda silly tbh cause WPs, just like city gates, are prefectly “in lore” – thanks to Asura scientists) don’t use them, that’s it.

Now, for propositions:

- build variety + benefits are not worthy: packed toghether cause my proposition is aimed at both. Better benefits shouldn’t be “MOAR POWER”. More utility/convenience. And you’ve done it with legendary stuff so there is no “technical limitations” excuse now.

Downgrade Ascended (and legendary) items to Exotic power level.
Allow ascended items to swap stats out of combat.

Boom, that’s it.
Downgrading means that, unless you’re aiming to high fractals level, you’re BiS with exotics (ascended becomes exotics with AR slots). Stat swapping means that even if you don’t care of fractals, you’ll have interest in chasing it, much more than “for the +5 at power stat”. No more different set for each build/game mode: you’ll have to grind (which is now optional, because exotics are BiS) and as reward you now can use 1 single armor/weapon/trinket set for everything, instead of flooding your bags with 3 copies of same item to accomodate the different builds.

a: “Appereance. Like theyhave always intended to be.”

-force players to spend money: introduce the “Ascension” of Exotic items trough game methods. I can be an expensive crafting recipe with turns your weapon from exotic to ascended. A MF recipe. A game quest. A reward for some activity. Whatever you can come up with. But gve players the option to turn exotics in ascended without Cash Shop. You can make it grindy, make the ascended acc-bound on creation, but at least there’s the option.

-acquisition is totally screwed: not going to repeat what other poster said already…but, with first suggestion (downgrade to exotic with AR slots and stat swap) grinding becomes much less a pressure, because as long as you don’t want to delve in high level fractals you’re fine with exotics, and grinding for a convenience (stat swapping) is much more rewarding than doing it for “+5 power”. That said, the acquisition system needs some work.

Btw, if nothing changes in any shape or form, this is probably last time i’m taking all this effort to give feedback on your game. I’ve stopped logging since Oct. I’ve stoppend enjoying the game well before that. And the whole Ascended mess had a quite large role in this.

More basic question which probably didn’t even got considered.

Do we even need character progression?

I played Gw1 for years, where in about 10 hrs or so in some campaign you could already be max level with max gear and, with few more money/hrs/effort investiment, go around shopping the “good” skills you needed to run the best builds.

Yet, took 5 years to get bored of Gw1, took 6 months to feel the same in Gw2.

I don’t want the character to progress, especially by a boring “+ 2 Xstat” gear tier system.
I (player) am the one that must progress.

Gw1 was brutal at times. WoC HM quests were, at times, trowing at you 20 mobs of lvl 32 with overbuffed stats/attack+movement+cast speed/armor and (especially for WiK/WoC) top pvp/pve-heroes playerbuilt skillset. Against your lvl 20 8-man team.
Just an example.
The message in Gw1 has always been “Your character reached the peak of power long time ago. Now it’s up to you. Time to get gud or gtfo”.

This is just the base. I don’t think Gw2 ever needed higher stat items.
Ascended brings a LOT of issues with them, because you wanted them so hard.

-worsening the issues of build variety: you’ve bound stats to gear. The longer/harder gets to aquire it, the less sets players will be prone to make, the less builds will be created or even experimented. Even only with exotics it was quite a chore to try out new stuff requiring different stats. (ignoring the fact that for pve you just deck out in zerk and you’re done with it. That’s a different topic.)
-acquisition is totally screwed – timegate, RNG, grind, forcing players trough specific game parts (fractals, guild missions, crafting)
-benefits are not worthy. With current system you’re just kitten ing off both sides.
No-vertical progression players feels cheated and uneasy about ascended gear. Either leaving, ignoring it (which means ignoring fractals, aka content) or putting themself to make ascended but feeling it a chore forced to them.
Vertical progression fanatics get a such small stat improvement that’s hardly noticeable. The only reason for ascended atm is fractals, and not for stats, but for AR. Also, this kind of players will probably leave as soon as the next “Oldschool MMO” comes out, because if you seek properly made vertical progression you’re looking elsewhere from Gw2.
-force players to spend money. I’m not talking about the gold sink part of ascended, which is right to some extent. I’m talking about Real money. Especially ascended armor and weapons are literally forcing everybody to buy fine tstones. Gw2 is still a lot based on cosmetic for endgame items. Making all of them obsolete and forcing transmutation is just low. Nobody in a game like Gw will accept to don’t care of aestetich “because has better stats”.
Also, it devalues the whole exotic skin market and meaning. Infinite Light/Mjolnir can cost 1000g or so in the making (for the skin), but being exotic is automatically inferior to ascended counterpart, thus giving player a “hidden” hint to open their wallet. And so happens for every exotic item.

Overall ascended, 1 year later, still look like a poorly thought out mess, ruining the whole game balance and enjoyement, and most importantly still seems to have been added for no tangible reason aside trying to please the vertical progression players which were already leaving for other MMOs (and you know, it might have been much better to let them gtfo and while staying true to Gw franchise fundations. Vertical Progression based MMOs are everywhere, this game should have been the refuge for everybody who despise it).

(and no, “Bridging from exotic to legendary” doesn’ work. Legendary had exotic-level statup until ascended weapons came out. Exotic armor and trinkets where already BiS items. Fractals AR system could have worked out without the need of a new tier.)

This for the “WTF are you doing” and “Let me tell you why that’s a BS”part.

If Bjarl bugs in one spot, have everyone break line of sight by going behind a pillar or something. He will unbug. Incidentally, same trick prevents his charges so make sure NOT to break LoS when he’s not bugged.

Then again, doubt anyone actually fought him legit enough to even realize that…

The few times i had to do it “legit” and that happened, i found actually easier to run to him and only then stack somewhere else.

The stucking happens because, afaik, Bjarl will lock on a target (sometimes on Spire too, which means that you’ll have to wait for him killing her before getting in the fight again) and follow it blindly until he randomly picks another one. If he charges at said target and the little gap in the middle is in the way, he’ll get stuck on it. Thus best thing is to run to him (cause you don’t really know who is the target, if he’s not charging) so cause him to charge away from it.

Overall, another huge yet simply to solve QA hole never adressed since release, nothing to see here, move on.

Isn’t that obvious? Anet doesn’t seems to even read either DG subforum or Dg-related bug reports, so as long as things doesn’t become public domain trough the channels that most of the “playhowiwant/casual/carebear/whatever” crowd uses, it’s like it doesn’t exists.

I mean, it’s almost since Spiky Fruits exists that they have been used in DGs, namely Bjarl.
So, umh, since release or shortly after?

Can anybody who has changed to a new face show me how they glow? I have a male and a female Sylvari that might need a make-over but it depends greatly on the glow.

You have the option to turn off/on light in the Makeover kit, exactely for that reason.

I’d be more interested in seeing a vid showing how they animate tho.

sPvP has always been the neglected aspect of GW2.

You had some good points, except for this point. PvP has had HUGE support precisely BECAUSE it was supposed to be their e-sport.

And this turns out to be a double fiasco for the game as whole.

Spvp won’t become esport, ever – yet drains all the interest of devs, especially in terms of balancing. Thus you have a wvw which has been ignored for 12 months or so (and now that they’re looking at it thye’re just making a huge mess) and a PvE side which has been dropped in terms of tangibile updates (last DG update: March, AC. Then TAFU turned in LS Scarlet joke, and now Fractal update which doesn’t solve any of the issues of the content, apart worsening grinding), which have been watered down to fool-proof zerg farming temporary LS arcs.

It’s a lose-lose situation.

Nope.

Major issues:
-1 mode.
-that mode is incredibly boring and flawed
-balance is so bad it’s not even funny, even when taking in account only the 2/3 builds a prof have (implying that some prof have more than 1 decent build)
-reward structure and overall blending with the rest of the game are lackuster (might change in next months, but it’s too little too late)
-the overall combat system doesn’t allow to have deep mechanics in combat. Compared to Gw1, where you have hexes, enchantements, tide-changing interrupts, real team play, base holding + CtF + kill the lord + deathmatch in a single game mode, and so on, Gw2 just looks like a bad joke.

The whole point of challenging content is that not everybody must be able to experience it.

That’s what difficulty serves: if you are able to tackle it, you experience the content and get the rewards. If you are not good enough yet, you might take more time or more tries to clear it. If you are a bad player, you won’t experience it as long as you do not improve.

The whole casual “That’s not right, everybody must be able to experience everything in the same way with same chances” mindset is just driving PvE community downhill.

Unless you consider champ farming, achievement hunting or LS worthy of be considered playable content.
The only somewhat enjoyable – yet broken and deeply bad designed at times – PvE content, the DGs, are gettin ignored so hard that’s not even funny.

I feel like the Ascended items were poorly implemented.

This is a 12 months old news, sadly – oh, and the whole game began to go downhill since that Nov. 2012, btw.
Now that the whole set is complete (from 10 Dec), it just becomes even more glaring….heck, they just keep doing new mistakes over the old ones.

They have abandoned dungeons.

Sligtly less old news, considered that they did AC revamp back in feb/march, Scarletification of TAFU and now Fractal mess 2.0 in the whole 2013 as DG updates.

A cheap, lazy, old, and kinda sad way to intend “progression”, and to artificially extend the content’s life.

But in those terms: “Working as intended”.

If there’s something that Gw2 needs to get back – badly – from Gw1, is teamplay and cross profession intereactions.

And that Necro healing active effect… is exactely the kind of things we need.

Now, if the traits for signets weren’t garbage or placed so oddly or other signets aside this, the active of Inspiration and passives of midnight/illusions were worth to make a build around, a signetmesmer could be a option.

Sadly that’s not the case…..but still, remember that you can trait this heal for giving you Distorsion, removing conditions and having lower CD.

You can’t please everybody when you start messing with existing styles, sadly.

I’m not really concerned (the sylvari i use most have heavy T3, unaffected. The one which wears medium T123 mix is a alt used little or nothing) but i feel your pain.

Would be cool to see vendor offering the different versions of the skin (in exchange of your piece of armor, no extra gold spent), but i guess would a bit too much work for a very minor appareance issue. Would be the only way to please everybody tho.

To expand a little: they had few tasks to fulfill withing this patch to be done properly.
Not a single one looks to be actually decently done.
-Story/Lore: Scarlet stuffed for no apparent reason aside “It’s Scarlet so she can” in the Reactor Fractal. Not that i care that much about the reactor piece of lore tbh, but turning it in another “Scarlet did it” thing…just, no.
-fractal updates: there are so many wrong things that it would require multiple other threads (and there are, in the LS section). Namely: new AR system, stages not fixed at all both in terms of playtrough (even made more frustrating – see dredge) or bugs (new and old stages alike), the whole leaderboards farsa, the reset…
-T3 Human armor on TP: this just have been the cherry on top, out of nowhere. Again, not that i really care about it, but it’s just low and cheap. That said i guess it’s too late to undo it. I’d like at least to have some equity at this point and see all cultural tiers/weights/races being treated in a similar way. But the fact of seeing, another time, all the design efforts (in terms of “new armor styles”) being shipped trough CashShop rather than giving up actual gameplay rewards is disappointing, even if foreseeable.

Can’t wait for seeing her:

-freeing Dhuum (how? see above)
-creating the “Dark&Edgy Alliance”, Dhuum + Menzies (how did she found Menzies? how force 2 gods to ally under her command? see pt 1)
