So I’ve got a level 80 Human Guardian, and I’ve been playing around with alts only to discover that what I really want to do is re-start my game as a Sylvari Guardian. Am I crazy? Has anyone else done this? To be perfectly honest, if there was a cash shop item to keep my level but wipe my race, I’d use it, even if it wiped my personal story.

I must say, pugs are still a roulette.
Today had a streak of surprisingly good groups (for a pug expectation ofc).
Yesterday i ragequitted the “farming easy DG paths” halfway.
2 phantasm (duelist/swordsman) are already quite powerful in terms of DPS – also consider that you’re likely relying on scepter for taking some break from meele, as soon as you’re ok pop the OH phant (kill the clone) and hop back on Sw/x.
There is a difference between stacking/LOSing and exploiting a boss by sitting in a place where you can hit him but he cant hit you. It seems this distinction is being confused by some people in this thread.

Surely there might be a thin line between strategy/best approach and exploit, sometimes.
But it’s all down to where you draw it.
Just an example:
Forcing mobs to group up with LoS to nuke them down is a exploit to you?
Surely not to me, cause that’s just balling up mobs using the enviroment – something that every single MMO does but, most of the time, with tanks.
Using unintended skill behaviours like (i’m just giving examples, i’m not arguing about what is unintended and what is just clever use) FGS Fiery Rush or Warrior’s GS Whirlwind attack to a wall or Whirlwind Wrath inside a mob are exploits to you?
And so on.
But if something is easy to pull off (los/stacking is much more pug friendly than coordinating 4x Fiery Rush spike) and gives an advantage, pugs will use it, period.
Anything that relies on number will never be “difficult”.
Sure, things like Teq (which needs to have that big number directed as needed) or few other meta events (Balthy/Grenth are quite harder compared to Dwayna/Melandru) can be “hard”.
But as you increase the numbers the skill level required to the single player lowers.
That’s why Anet likes to push WvW into blobbing, cause even the worst scrub can hop in follow the blue dot and say “I’m a WvWer”, and this makes him happy.
Or making the focus of PvE releases zergish events, just autoattack the world and you’re set.
(inbefore “due to that reasoning spvp > gvgs” or “then 40 man raids on wow are a joke?”. well, those a completely different subjects. anyway, my only point those is: the skill relies on the leader.)

That’s one of the reasons i think Lupi is the best Gw2 boss.
Most moves have quite clear tells.
Most moves will not instantgib you – if you react, even when getting hit.
Most moves will istantgib you if you don’t react.
Phases.
All in all, Lupicus is just a exercise of “watch the boss. connect brain cells. dodge properly”.
(i say “most” cause some things could use a little of polish. see p1 grub tells.)
Might as well just determine which auto-attack does the most damage in PVT gear, untraited and leave it at that, if we’re talking the average pug.

So the pug level has gotten this low that, after not expecting them to dodge, not expecting them to gear and build properly, not expecting them to use proper tactics, now i should stop expecting them using the “\” button?

Allowing room for error or a more relaxed gameplay doesn’t mean use terrible builds.
If you’re not confident enough to use zerk, you can use Knight armor (instead of zerk) + zerk trinkets, for example. Or a less DPS oriented build, like x0/30/0/30/x0 instead of, let’s say, 10/30/0/5/25.

But seriously, between the “i do not want go full zerk don’t feel safe” and “there we go, PTV and cleric 0/0/30/30/10 now i can tank the world and sleep on the keyboard” there is a freacking ocean.

Long short story: accepting not being good enough to go full min/max zerk is fine.

Simple reason: Perplexity aren’t avaible in sPvP.

Even popping Duelists at range while doing nothing in a S/P setup probably.
If they have a vision for their dungeon, which includes the removal of an old path in favour of a new, then that is not laziness, but progress.
If their vision of DGs now is making them part of the LivingcrapStory by swapping the content in it rather than fixing or expanding the present one, then is not progress, it’s idiocy made game design.

If tafu was so long/hard, bump it to 2/3g.

If the average player can’t double WW and press #1 for 10 seconds the playerbase here is worse than i thought. Thief, engie, ele and guardian’s dps seems easy to peak out, actually, aside from maintaing AI alive everything seems pretty easy to peak.

I agree that some min/max gimmicks might be very uncomfortable to pull off (see Desperate Power or Unschated Contender), or that most ppl will not min/max the gear at his extreme (manly, making a zerk sword with every slaying sigil or even 2 swords for sigil of the night), or running the very extreme DPS builds (for example guards using 10/30/0/20/10 instead of 20/30/0/5/25).

But there are ppl not being able to follow a simple rotation, strategy, build, gear to maximize their efficency, because using brain cells troughout a DG is too hard….and they seems to be either the Anet’s target player or the majority of playerbase lately.

But the issue is: you don’t need that AoE, because in DGs Sword cleave and BF (plus Warden if using focus) will be more than enough.
And anyway, what ppl are trying to say is that there’s no point picking up a weapon where you want 1 skill only and the rest is garbage.
Better work around it (see Sword Auto BF and extra Warden) and pick up better skill wise weapons.

There is no cap cause you’re supposed to dodge the summoning skill, or take down the tree before they overcome you.
Which in both cases, makes it a pugbuster.

The not- despawing IS a issue, but fixing that would have fixed the whole path.
Main difference in that sense between Scepter and GS is that Scepter auto actually gets stronger if you’re not at max range, cause the followups trigger on projectile hit.

I would say Warriors – 9 stacks of Confusion for EVERY interrupt is simply insane. Engineer might have quite a few but its not as much of a threat as Warrior with them and that distracting Strikes trait.

Engies balance it out with a far more numerous CC’s, but both outclasses Mesmer in confusion application by a larg margin.

Do 1 single run with a backup ranged weapon for learning, as soon as you can predict and dodge the important stuff you’re set.
I was promoting the same thing, many have done so. Learn it, go full melee.
Backup ranged weapon GS for as long as you have no clue, everyone is happy. Everyone but one certain person maybe…
One thing is say “Use GS + S/x for first run, learn, then drop it cause is rubbish”. I’m fine with that. But only if oyu actually use the runs you’re underperforming due to GS to learn, so you can move to Sword all time.
Another is suggesting GS as good power weapon. Which math – and math is not a opinion – proved isn’t.
That is what some ppl is rightfully trying to get out of the head of way too many DG Mesmers.
Learning is a completely different story – it’s keep using it the argument.

About 1 or 2 months ago, iirc.
That’s why suddendly ppl have been posting tons of threads about it while before nobody said a word.

Now, the issue is that Anet didn’t even move a finger to stop overstacking of certain servers, made a mode based totally on coverage and changed the matchmaking for the worse with RNG elements, so you rarely see situations where the 3 – way flavour of WvW can shine.
In other words: 3 way isn’t working much in Gw2 due Anet incompetent WvW team, the design itself is fine.
Tomorrow those won’t drop anymore.
