Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
I’m quite shocked they haven’t put a WvW section – maybe with maps subchannels – for LFG as standard.
Remember when I told everyone to get over HB’s one big number, and everyone told me to stop making straw man arguments?
Well, the straw man is right here and he’s posting right now.
I finally got around to modeling thief, which gives me a full DPS tier list, and it looks like this:
Max buffed, from best to worst:
Mesmer (Sw/Sw with 3 phantasms) = ~15k
Thief (D/D backstab) = ~13.5k
Elementalist (fire staff or LH) = ~13k
Guardian (GS+Sword) = ~11k
Necromancer (D/F+WH with all minions) = ~11k
Warrior (Axe+GS) = ~10k
Ranger (Sword and Feline pet) = ~9.5k
Engineer (Grenades) = ~9kOff the top of my head, anyway. As you can see, ,the difference between the top three and the rest is fairly severe (Ele sits at 13k, while Guardian and Necro are around 11k) but the rest are pretty close together. You can also tell that the top three have “special conditions” on achieving max DPS, as does Necromancer, so Guardian is actually the highest unconditional DPS you will get.
OT:
Where would Mes fall down with 2, 1 or 0 phantams?
Nice list tho, +1
What is sad is that using those 19 skill with some brain looks extremely hard for a LOT of Gw2 players.
So since i’m passionate about a class, my feedback isn’t meaningful?
That wasn’t what i was trying to say.
Fact: it’s been months that Warrior subforum is cluttered by your OP and completely out of touch suggestions regards balance.
When somebody like that talks about Warrior, isn’t really surprising that his reply to a “Nerf to War” thread is “War is fine” and actually suggest that Warriors aren’t on equal footing with other classes.
It’s just an observation.
Also, fix the grammar if you want to keep posting that image..
Dont’ need no shave = Need shave.
Double negative = affermative, in english.
/rotfl
Btw, Daecollo, you’re wel known for posting 24/7 Warrior suggestions which makes no sense or are plain OP, so that you think Warriors are fine isn’t really meaningful, you know.
I admit i haven’t even tought about using Binding Blade for anything other than pulls.
As i said somewhere else: the various buffs to war, that brouhgt him back in pvp, aren’t a issue and are quite balanced, picked one by one.
Is the stacking that got some overbuffing effect.
HSignet itself is not OP. But you’re slapping it on a class with high base HP and armour and a top tier mobility.
6 months ago this would’ve been ok anyway. Why? Cause “stustain” and “condition management” were issues.
Now, if the consider again, slapping HS on high HP Armor and mobility class….which got buffed Dogged march, added Cleansing Ire, buffed berserker stance as specific anticondition, will get improvements to healing shouts and shouts/Warhorn trait placement, and on top of that got some new deathly tools like 4 sec Mace stun…
Well, that needs some shaving somewhere.
It’s even better if ww hits only 9 times, which it is pretty much guaranteed even if you stand next to an asura size model. Although: swapling back to gs after 9 seconds is bad. You won’t have binding blades and symbol off cooldown by then.
Binding blade isn’t really meaningful in terms of DPS. You usually use it at the start of the fight to clump mobs if you need to, then nuke them down and be done with it.
About symbol, yeah, was thinking about using WW 2 times before swap, which would put Symbol around a 10 sec remaining CD mark when going to sword – thus after 9 sec of sword you get back in GS with symbol up. But that would mean autoattacking in GS for about 10 sec. And that 2nd WW isn’t worth the dps loss of 9 sec of GS auto.
So, yeah, was miscalculating the CDs with a bad rotation.
I don’t get what you mean “even better if ww hits only 9 times” + “stand next to..”, tbh – standing next instead of inside a mob should make your WW dmg nosedive cause half of hits do not connect and get launched around, no?
Anyway, weapons and skills are situational ofc, and swapping to the most suited one for what you’re doing is part of being good at DGs. I think most ppl here will agree on it.
(edited by AndrewSX.3794)
I hate the Guardian forums.
Agree on this sentiment.
Most of the guys down there see the Guard as a freaking healer, Healway is preached as strong and AH is godly while EM is overrated.
Kill me.
Anyway, @dub: i personally prefer RHS + Bloodlust over Gs rotation+ Accuracy.
Let me explain: when playing RHS i still use GS in my rotation (WW symbol WW swap auto Sword for 9 sec swap to GS), unless i need something else as backup weapon.
My only crutch is WW reliability.
I know that you can simply walk in the mob and cast it inside there – BAM! all projectile connects and WW gets a decent burst. But i don’t like this unreliability. The mob moves of a inch and your burst loses half of it’s damage.
Might depend on bosses tho.
Getting a full WW connect on Lupi or Alpha is surely easier than getting it to Nokk in SE (cause he’s a freaking asura).
Well, reply is quite encouraging i must admit.
But now is time for facts.
And i mean NOW. Ad soon as new mmos with quite interesting pvp features will launch, your wvw and spvp scene will disappear if you do not have acted fast band well enough.
@draygo: just use a istanced copy of new “lake” area with no points for the time being.
(edited by AndrewSX.3794)
Let’s do this way: let’s have Anet ban all the players from guilds that ever had GvG’s from WvW for 2-4 weeks, so only the “real PP- cough – WvWers can play WvW not those GvG spoiled brats”.
Then come back and tell us how’s going without 80% of the commanders and decently skilled group fighting.
This is ironic, since you are no a server that i, personally, organized, likely using our teamspeak and site i made and transferred here because of community and success we built. Seafarer`s Rest was build for one reason – WvW, its in community hands now – good hands. But i still hold to illusion of community that actually like WvW and that their reason for being there and not because they coudnt do GvG elsewhere.
I’m on SFR since more than one year (not since very first day of Gw2 launch, i’ll admit), and transferred when the server was in the first “fall” risking to be another Blacktide, not when was shiny on top of the ladder, so don’t trow me in the stack of opportunist leechers bandwagoners – thank you very much.
Oh, and i know what F – U (lol the filter…) did for SFR.
But this doesn’t mean i can’t tell you what i think about this matter – especially if i disagree with you.
Also, afaik you haven’t been playing since quite some time – in case you’ve missed it, SFR has been home of a tons of guilds (some came, some went, some quitted and some formed) which are/were active only thanks to GvG spicing up the wasteland of WvW.
And without them it wouldn’t be nowhere close to where it’s now.
(edited by AndrewSX.3794)
Posts disappearing, somebody is reading.
Doesn’t sounds bad to me – but the ICD will make or break it.
As long as it’s 40 or 30 secs (like previous Glacial Heart versions) it will be useless anyway.
these GvG haters are PPT, PvD, arrowcart and karma train noobs who don’t know quality fights.
Wrong.
Anybody who wants WvW to have, you know, PvP in it hates those.
PPT – measure of coverage and numbers. Blob harder and bigger for most time = win.
PvD – play when you enemy don’t. Whohoho, killed those 4 NPCs and 2 defenders with only 30 ppl! There was even a Champion as TowerLord! Exciting (not).
AC – again, i want to bash ppl by myself, not by sitting behind a wall spamming 3 skills.
Karma Trains – all the above combined.
It’s just asking WvW to be what a Open World PvP mode should be – PvP.
Not saying that siege should be removed, or that objectives are not important.
But those should be an addition, not the focus.
PvP with objective control to spice it up.
Not Objective Control with some pvp to make it kitten ring.
Ok, rereading, it was “haters of GvG likes blabla” not “GvGers hating blabla”, kitten .
(edited by AndrewSX.3794)
Well it’s a thread in Warrior’s subforum, i wouldn’t really be so surprised…
Anyway, surely other classes will have some builds/skills “nerfed” due to this, but para sigil fix is being pushed now (instead of anytime before) due to the sheer amount of stun warriors, no doubt.
“Warriors need more sustain”. While now you got it. The class with the most armor and hp in the game, the second most mobility in the game, immunity to conditions for 8 seconds, and auto stability when needed now has the most sustain.
Uh, just saying, mine was a “Warrior defending HS, the sustain argument is not valid”, not the opposite.
Ignoring the other two posts. What are you trying to say here? I am not following.
You made a post “defend healing sig”.
I was just adding to your post: “warrior needs more sustain” is no longer a valid argument in defence of HSig since last big update, and because upcoming one have additional buffs to heal/sustain, nerfing HS is totally ok.
Because trust me, there are ppl that will/would istantly reply that to your post about HS.
Am I the only one around here that understands that the 2 guilds GvGing would still be on the map regardless if they were GvGing or WvWing? Hence, the que would be the same? All GvG does is remove the pug equation from the fight.
Common sense is quite scarce lately, and not only among players.
Reminder: “Warriors need more sustain” is a 3 months old argument.
Also, upcoming patch packs buffs to Healing Shouts and Shout + Warhorn CD traits (you will be able to pick both).
There are reasons why the interest in spvp is minimal.
Fixing those could be an idea to attract/get back players.
Like, decent game modes, to name the first and foremost issue.
I know, it’s mindblowing, but i bet fixing wrong things will work better than anything pvp team did in 1 year.
I still can’t believe the developers of a game called “guild wars” would try so hard to stop there from being actual guild wars.
it’s like making a game called world war 2 and forcing you to stay in afghanistan for the entire duration of the war, its pointless
To me the most insulting thing is the attitude.
“I made this mode i decide how you play.”
Pathetic.
Now, i don’t know if are more sad Anet devs acting that way or player actually tinking that PPT are all that matters and blame GvGers for having fun, fighting and wasting their spots in the zoneblob.
Glacial Heart just needs a decent ICD, not a 30 sec one.
That’s what makes it unviable.
The idea wouldn’t be bad, but i strongly disagree if this mean reducing the phases of a individual encounter of Lupi.
I mean, it would be cool having a different Lupi skillset each path, but what makes Lupi a great boss encounter (compared to the rest of gw2 at least) is the difference of his behaviour trough the fight.
Making p1 only phase p2 only phase p3 only phase 3 etc would simply cancel that and turn this boss into a joke imo, flattening the depth of the fight.
Such a narrow minded vision.
“This is WvW i made it for karma trains blobbing siegewar and PPT is all matter and if don’t play like this go spvp or gtfo, and i’ll do my best to force you to play it how i want or move somewhere else”.
Jeeeez.
I wouldn’t bring a Warrior to CM over an ele or guardian.
Of the all possible content you could mention, you name the DG where Projectile Reflection/Disruption are everything that matter…Grats.
Arah is much more projectile-heavy than CM. A single mesmer can totally neutralize something like half of the bosses in that dungeon.
I didn’t say it was the only one.
Reflects are probably one of the most OP things in Gw2 PvE atm, that’s a fact.
it’s a bit lousy in groups that can stack might properly
Yes, that’s the only downside.
On the other hand, most groups don’t do that – not only talking about filthy pugs – or don’t get perma 25 stacks – so EM ones aren’t wasted, but comes in play mid-fight for keep up the high numbers – and the 20 pts Major trait slot can hold some other neat stuff aside EM – like symbol traits for running a Hammer build.
To the lowering of map cap: yes, it would solve some issues.
But bring in some others.
First, it would simply destroy a lot of communities – yes, it’s about the “stacked servers” but (at least here on SFR) the core is quite compact and plays toghether since we were the underdogs. Recent bandwagoning of bad players is considered a hinderance, most of the time. Your suggestion would crush all of this. I know it might sound meaningless said by somebody on a “stacked” server, but i can’t accept that. And ofc you can’t pretend Anet to discriminate between who has the “right” to stay and who should transfer off.
Second, maps should get re-adapted to lowered numbers. Granted, spreading more the ppl on the map can be achieved this way, cutting numbers and leaving map alone, but a 50% player cut is a bit too much.
A better idea imo would be (not first time i mention it) cut player cap on BL’s (EB can stay this way) but double the number of BL’s, for 6 total.
Spreads the players (less skill lag, less blobbing) but doesn’t lower the amount of people that can get in wvw, as whole. Win – Win.
About the stacked vs lower servers, is like balancing. You shouldn’t “nerf” the top tier server (with things like cutting the players on map of 50% and killing communities increasing que times esponentially), but make the other option (lower tier transfer) more appetible and profitable. Tweaks in how rewards are calculated, free transfers to certain servers if coming from certain other ones, even rewards/extra incentives for doing so are all viable ways.
It’s the price of being our most known pug commander.
I hope nobody of them go to SFR:)
we do not need upscaled players:)
Don’t worry Emma, they don’t care of EU.
The only good and acceptable change to bloodlust is the removal of stat buff.
Period.
I wouldn’t bring a Warrior to CM over an ele or guardian.
Of the all possible content you could mention, you name the DG where Projectile Reflection/Disruption are everything that matter…Grats.
The right question is not “when” but “will”.
Make the sigil atleast + 0,5sec or something.. or just nerf the mace F1???
Breaking news: that’s the goal.
In the intent of getting the War back into play in pvp Anet gave him too much so now it’s time to take some things away a little.
Final Thrust could use a speed up, but that’s another story.
Don’t get me wrong, combat system itself isn’t bad, at all.
But needs a de-dumbing down process.
More stuff, more diverse.
Therefor, Aragorn is a better Ranger than 90% of the GW2 population.
And Legolas is a scrub DwarfBow ranger.
Cause BearBow would have been too mainstream.
The color of armor glow is determined by your skin color, afaik.
Chain skills in Guild Wars 2 are not really fun either. In GW1 the assassin could use skill A to get skill B and then maybe get skill C. But when getting to skill B he could re use skill A instead of using skill C. But in Guild Wars 2 your skill changes into the next one and all you do is press the same button over and over again, and you can not jump in the chain either, like I already stated.
Manly, you could decide which skills use.
I mean, to make it easier to understand, there were the catergory of “opener”, “middle” and “finisher” (only for assassin tho). You could pick them freely.
Ofc some combo were better, ofc some wouldn’t have sense, but you could choose to change the middle for more pressure, or have 2 different finishers to use as needed, or trade the extra aoe dmg of a certain piece of your chain for another giving you a KD.
The weapon skills system would be ok if your non-weapon skills were really important and interesting. Unfortunetly, they’re usually neither or just one of those things. Just compare GW2’s FGJ to GW1’s pre-nerf version of FGJ. GW2’s skill just gives you an attribute boost, while GW1’s skill gave you a unique bonus that doubled the amount of Adrenaline you got, making your skills “recharge” twice as fast.
+1
And
I blame Boons and Conditions. While it’s true GW1’s buff/debuff system was a bit too complicated, Boons and Conditions are way too simple to be interesting.
+2
As i said before: make utilities real useful. No passive thing(signets), no plain boon/condition(FGJ), no plain attacks(bull’s rush)/spells(arcane blast)/skills with some flavours attached.
Also, give us back hexes.
Elites and utilities needs a ground up rework.
As far as weapon skills go, it’s a step back limiting them so hard with weapon sets – manly for caster – but it does makes sense and it does helps (on paper) with balancing, so i can pass on.
But elites passed from being the core of your build to be the ultimate you can use once every 3 minutes. That’s horrible design.
Also utilities, they just aren’t…utile, most of the time. I mean, ofc it will depends on which one you choose and which profession: but for example Feedback and Veil are “utility”. FGJ SYG and few other skills are just “Hey pick those boons”. And i’m not even mention sigils (passive skills)…
Boo-oring.
Welcome in DoA.
(edited by Moderator)
Just finished running a fractal on my Necromancer for the daily (necro is dagger/warhorn + dagger/focus, full zerker), and I got 4 random guardians with me.
…..We get both swamp (mossman) and grawl, and not a single WoR or SotA was used.
Something died somewhere inside me.
This idea wouldn’t be bad, at all.
But the issue is, you can’t slap it on top of all what has been done in latest months to improve warrior survivability.
You’re a couple of months late, now warrior doesn’t need more sustain, actually, they need to get shaved a bit the one they’ve received.
Again, not a bad idea, but you can’t add it to Adreanl Health, Healing Signet, Dogged March (Regen), ZerkerStance/EndurePain.
Period.
Agree 110% with OP.
And i’LL add another Anet misconcept:
-WvW is just room for casual karma trains of bored PvErs, never a real pvp mode
Self explanatory i suppose.
And no, i’m not talking a out GvG, but general “multiple smaller zerg pvping” vs “zoneblobbing and siegewar” kind of playstyle.
(edited by AndrewSX.3794)
Long short story: in a pug/group of random people you might have the idea that Warrior are extremely OP compared to other classes.
Well, you’re wrong.
I mean, Warrior is not weak at all, but in a more organized team every class has a place.
Sword/Focus + GS/Hammer Guardian.
D/D or S/D + Sbow Thief.
S/Horn + SBow (+ Jaguar and Jungle Stalker) Ranger.
S/F + S/P or S Mesmer.
D/Horn + D pr Axe/Focus Necro.
S/D or D/F (+ LH and FGS) Ele.
Rifle (+Bomb and ’Nades Kits) Engi.
and our Axe/Mace or Sword or Horn + LB or GS Warrior.
Some are better than other? Sure.
But tbh, if there is more balance (note: “more balanced” =/= “perfectly balanced”) across professions at “higher levels” than among pugs, i don’t think the problem are the professions. Maybe in terms of skill ceiling, effort vs. reward ratios, but not in terms of effectiveness.
This is how anet rolls. See? No problems.
This vid nearly made me facepalm.
Then looked back at it, and realized that the guys playing this way are the masterminds behind the decisions in regards of design, balance and direction of the game.
Now my forehead hurts a lot.
The problem isn’t EM, which is actually quite handy if your party don’t cap might stacks or lacks of reliable sources of group might like warriors/ele/fire + blast comboing.
And EM isn’t picked cause there isn’t anything good for that trait slot (2H mastery is good, symbols traits are good).
The problem is using EM not for the might, but for proccing AH,
That is overrated.
Get rid of AH, poof, 30 points get free to move somewhere else, build variability and flexibility explodes.
Sticking them in Virtues will grant you quite more interesting and useful tools than getting a 2 digit heals when proccing EM.
Sticking them in Radiance will give you access to a real DPS option.
(given a 0/x0/30/30/x0 or similar build)
In 99,99% of situations, Zerk is better than Assassin.
Manly, because atm is possible/easy to get 100% crit chance in Zerk gear already (Fury Banner Spotter Accuracy Sigil/Perception Stacks Traits – like RighHandStrengt), so you don’t need to trade off some power for extra precision.
Focus.
A unique CC, not-too-shabby-dmg phantasm, can be a reflection machine, swiftness/cripple, and my Anomaly is a freaking purple glowing ball.
