The issue in a high price of dust is that makes unconvenient do a lot of stuff.

-lvl 400 consumables like potions, sharpening stones, crystals and oil are just out of wack in price atm
-most of the lodestones in the market are made trough a 2 core conversion. as dust price rise, all the lodestone price (and the will of players to convert cores instead of farm to buy lodestones) will suffer
-all the T5 conversions are now very unconvenient. ppl sit on stacks of T5 mat w/o even think to upgrade, cause due to price of the 5 dust needed the chance of profit/being on par with investiment are very slim.

Dust is the most useful mat, so it’s normal for it being a little costly, but atm it’s simply out of scale, and this hurts too many areas of the crafting/high end mats market.
A fix is needed badly.
Price should be at very least half of the current one (40s or so), like an ecto.

Proposed fix: add T6 dust as drop from rares (and exotics) salvage, in the same spot of ectos (so you can drop 3 dust or 3 ecto, or 2 dust 1 ecto or 2 ecto 1 dust, and so on – given you’re getting 3 drops out of salvage).
This will increase supply of dust (enough to balance again prices) and decrease slightly the supply of ectos (which are a little underpriced imo).
Both ecto and dust should sit on the 20-25 s mark imo.

Any bug fixes automatically translates to the class becoming stronger. The mesmer class definitely does not need to become stronger, so if you want bug fixes, nerfs will have to follow.

Because balancing around bugs makes sense.

Again, this is a post asking for a debug action. Last patch was labeled as bug fixing, and i think everybody agree that is was a complete joke for all the classes – very few fixes, most of them meaningless, and broke a lot of stuff.

It has been labeled as “State of the Mes” because iZerker is a bug introduced by Anet after betas, recognized and so far ignored. Ppl fear that any other bug will share same destiny, being it a mesmer bug or not.

Again, if it wasn’t taking Mes bugs as examples everybody would have agreed with this simple request: FIX BUGS.
But cause the class is good it doesn’t deserve working stuff? What?

(ps. a couple of bugs like Nec staff traits and engi minefield where fixes in 2 days. so far, not even a “we’re a aware” red post has been given to Illusionary Elasticity mes thread. if devs are starting to think your way – don’t need fix class is strong anyway – well, that’s shameful.)

Is that simple: fix bugs. If something is too powerful, then tone it down – but make it work as planned.

Staff Elementalist is top tier class when decently played (and combo’ed by team).

Has 4 huge CCs (Static, Frozen, Unsteady and Shockwave).
Carry the trinity of the combo fields you need in wvw (static for swiftness. lava for might. geyser/rain for healing).
Long range area denial and pressure (not high dmg or spike, but that’s not what wvw is about).
Direct healing and support (water auto, geyser, rain).
Self survivability with 2-3 cantrips.
Decent elites (water/fire elemental, GS).
Strong condition aoe removal (yes, even with CW icd) with regen spamming.

Ofc, it’s very very bad at 1vx, dmg and roaming.
But that’s because it isn’t the weapon role, not because staff is bad.

If the argument “please fix bugs you’re putting in every single patch” was not presented referring to mesmers, probably everybody would have nodded and +1’ed.

But cause it’s mesmer it’s so trendy to flame it.

Aka: it’s not matter of balance. Skills MUST work properly, regardless of powerfulness class and balance. End of the story.

T7 EU ruins of surmia fighting in T5 and playing well!

Well RoS got a decent influx of WvW guild some time ago (included RioT ) so was expected to climb the ladder, sooner or later.

This matchmaking has only speed up the process, so not really a surprise.

None of them.

New one has a mindblowing badly designed RGN factor – manly due to it’s wideness.
A T7 server kicked in T9 while winning his tier, a T7 pushed in T5 while losing his tier…. makes no sense.

Old one was better. The main flaw of it was being not very responsive to shifts in power balance in a tier. Took 1 month or more for Deso/SFR to drop out of T1 while VS dominating it 24/7.

But hey, ppl said that prefer to fight different servers, enjoyability of match doesn’t matter, over fighting same servers in a somewhat balanced match.

Ppl asked for this.

The point isn’t about how Mes is compared to other professions and how things are balanced (or not).

The issue is that there are tons of things which stop working due to patches and never get fixed. Which is bad regardless of the power of a class. What, mesmer is considered in a good spot anyway so do not deserve a debugging for things that devs broken with some patches (assuming it was unintended and not “Hey, let’s down to 1/5 the dmg of iZerker, nobody will notice and in case we’ll call bug and just never fix it”).

1Clones do no damage and mindwrack does good damage only with all the right traits base damage sucks.

Actually, everything on mesmer works this way.

Crap on base, but good traits which makes it great.

Which is why even a small touch on a trait can butcher or create a whole new build setup (rise and fall or Shattered Strenght, murdering of Blinding Defubblement are good examples).

Hey guys, will try to do it short.
after playing Guardian, i really want something with high damage.
i’m doing mostly wvw.. i’m thinking between Warrior and Ele’

Warrior.

Ele is the last place where you should look for high dmg in wvw.

Why? Cause their Support/CC role trough Staff fields and skills is MASSIVELY better than any dmg skill at their disposal. Also, because dmg traits are garbage. And dps oriented gear + ele + wvw = bad. Manly because even when specced for it, ele dmg isn’t impressive at all (manly because you’re losing up all that support potential, and dmg isn’t worth the tradeoff). Same goes for pve.

Warrior has the highest dmg potential across all GW2 classes, so if you’re looking for dps, you’ll find it here. In PvE, but also in WvW. Ofc with different builds and gear and weapons.
I suggest you to do not use ranged weapons on Warrior. Don’t know in which tier you’re playing (it may make some difference) or if you’re in a wvw guild run, but meele train is surely a huge part of the wvw meta right now. And hit hard as a truck.

About boringness of a class, depends on you. If you’ve been comfortable with Guardian, then War shouldn’t be a problem. If you spent all the time on your guard looking for more stuff to manage, the might be worth give Ele a try, due to all their skills at same time and squishyness.

But as said: if you tell me “I want dmg” and put as class choices “Ele or War” the answer is War, no brainer.

Cause across al my char, MH Sword on mes is the only weaponset is use ALWAYS.
Never run Staff+ GS, never use scepter.

And it’s very good looking, while not so mainstream like the awful GSs.

As alternatives i’ve considered Infinite light or Fractal sword. But for 100 charged lodestones are enough so the former is out, and the latter is a RGN roulette of fractal spamming…i’m unlucky and hate fractal, so no way. :p

While i think that it’s a valid tactic (we need more stuff like that in wvw to make it less mindless zerging), i agree that is kinda frustrating when your server can’t port anywhere due to a single person on the other side, hitting a gate with a dagger who makes the whole keep going it “Omfg enemy is on us bunker bunker bunkerrrrr!”.

Also, Thieves are just working as intended in that sense. Evasive, uncatchable and hitting behind the frontlines (after all, they’re quite bad in zerg battles).

A decent solution could be changing a bit the numbers (let’s say, at least 5 ppl hitting doors before all things shutting down) or the timing/system (WP will shut down only if…).

Just change it so a single thief can’t contest a WP (but the keep yes) anymore ALONE, and things would be sorted.

Domination Trait 2: Joke?

Made a thread about this like 7 months ago and all i got is “back in betas mes had much more stun/dazes and for the final game they were removed because it was OP”… At the end the reality is, back in betas when Mez has much more rups these traits were useful. Rupts were removed because anet wanted GW2 to be a casual spam fest with no classes that can dominate another by shutting it down as it was perfectly possible in gw1. Rups were removed cuz its easy to remove but when it comes to traits they didn’t bother because you can’t just remove them, you need to replace them and they’re way too lazy for that.

So much (sad) truth.

Especially no classes that can dominate another by shutting it down as it was perfectly possible in gw1.

Man, everytime i see ppl complaining about mesmers for no reason (not saying that every complain has no reason. but a lot are just QQs), i laugh inside thinking what those ppl would think about GW1 Mesmer.

THAT was a pita class to play against in pvp, if the player was skilled.
Rupts, Diversion, both meele and caster hate hexes, degen, armor ignoring dmg, mana depletion/stealing, faster casting of any spell, hexes punishing skill type use, or any type skill activation plus hexes punishing not activating skill…..and much more.

GW1 Mesmer puts GW2 into shame at 360°, when comes to CC and domination of enemy and battlefield.

I freaking miss skills like Panic, Vision of Regret and Wastrel’s Worry/Demise.

Matches reset on Friday weekly.

May take some minutes of downtime for re-matching basing off ratings at the end of the match.

Everything should be automatic, so as long as there are no changes in the system form Anet’s side, that’s how will work for the game lifespan.

It removes one condition (or boon, from enemy) every pulse.

So if you can stay all the duration of Null inside the field it’s a 7 condition cleanse (or 7 boon strip).
Good thing is that you can extend the duration of Glam fields (including null) with proper trait, for moar condition/boon removal.

(i’m typing without checking wiki, based on memory, so might have said something inaccurate :p )

Say it how you prefer, but it’s getting quite annoyin after 9 months…when this was intended to be the “bug fix patch”. Which fixes very few/lesser bugs, break new things and ignore important ones.

Its counter productive, they put items in the game that require a stupid amount of farming to get, they then nerf every where you can farm, they remove drops from enemies in MAJOR world events, what exactly do they want us to do.

This.

What’s the point of trowing in very expensive (mat wise especially) stuff when you can’t farm those due to nerfs everywhere.
It makes just the price levitate, and makes unrewarding the whole Orr/Open wordl.
Also, it force more ppl to farm DGs… i meant, CoF (cause DGs are unrewarding too compared to it) for raw gold to buy the stuff they can’t farm.

If they ever want to be able to nerf CoF (which sooner or later will happen, its needed – even a small nerf – to make healty the game again) without destroy game economy – or just overall experience in matter of crafting highend weapons (legendaries, rare exotics from MF) – they need to revert this.

To ppl saying “Have to not be minumun drop rare rarity for economy of rares/ectos”: there’s something like wordl PvE Meta events, which works exactely like that.
You can do those daily, for guaranteed drop, even more than once for chance of more loot.
There are 20ish of those.
So with some time and patience every player can potentially get 20+rares at day.

Don’t tell me that making the same to wvwers would crush the economy.

The devs and the opinion of the wvw community seem to be totally disconnected. There’s no dialogue, no transparancy. I respect the devs for what they do and I could understand that they don’t have the resources (read money) to add new content, but it would be nice if you just told us that is the case.

+1. Devs have a certain vision of a game (WvW), which is totally different from reality.
Devs: WvW is Casual PvP when you’re bored of PvE, to cater some ppl to Spvp
Reality: WvW is the only GW2 mode where ppl have a chance to be Hardcore.

Laurels are so anti- multiple toons as is the whole current wvw Wexp set up, it’s like ANet saying ’ PLAY ONLY ONE TOON OR ELSE’

Also, this. But that’s not really a WvW thing only.
Making leveling so easy was meant to let everybody play whatever they want…yet update after update they keep screwing up whoever isn’t using a single char all days everyday.

Oh, also:

Lets try this, fix:

-Banner rez on lord
-Raid UI
-Improved commander tag features
-Waypoints being useable while the keep is under siege
-Diminishing returns for playing in larger groups (wexp scaling for both events and kills based on the number of players with you)
-Reducing the damage of arrowcarts
-Fixing the problem where retal is only nerfed in EB (I lold at this one, do they even know about this bug?)
-Lowering the amount of supply a keep can hold to prevent night time advantage
-Reducing the amount of supply transported by a dolyak when enemy servers are outmanned (hello upgrades overnight?)
-Improving the outmanned buff to serve a useful function (increase siege damage or supply capacity)
-A leaderboard for player kills/wexp rank and other wvw related features
-And finally a bit of class balance.

I second this sentiment.
Can we trade all the fluff for working/balanced stuff?

So bad….. what was the point of any of this update? Stop wasting developer time and maybe do something we care about. At least if you are going to give us rewards, do it properly. I can farm a ring in a matter of days if I desire, 25 laurels is lol. Infusions are a waste, the oil skills are pointless, and wexp promotes zerging. Hoorah!

I support this.

The only 2 things i’m looking foward to are optimization (never hurts..but will it be noticeable?) and chests for wxp, might be a nice way to get some stuff out of wvwing..
but prolly will just get a flood of pvers farming wxp for chests due to magic words “Chance of precursors”.
Which will mean more lag, more blob, more queques, less quality (on average).

Or a IP block, to avoid ppl form foreign regions unbalancing matches.

If you’re plannig to stick with the Glamour/Confusion build, i’d suggest changing up your armor.

Supposing you were running a full Rabid gear (armor + trinkets), leave trinkets Rabid, and swap armor for Knight or Soldier, with not-condition dmg runes (lyssa, air, centaur, wurm…).

This will let you still pump out some decent confusion pressure (condition dmg should be 1k or so) while improving your direct dmg to offset the confusion dmg nerf.
WvW only perspective.
Personally (and quite some other ppl on my server) i found this best option – also because doesn’t involve a full respec, especially for trinkets that might be hard-earned ascended pieces.

Human, Sylvari, or Asura

Silvary imo.

Asura…they aren’t bad buuuuuuuuut….didn’t feel rigth with animations and such. Leveled 3 times a Asura char to 20-40 ish and then deleting it cause couldn’t stand their movings. Simply dropped the idea of making an Asura for now, ehe.
Humans are ok, but feels a bit boring. Human Guardian is prolly the most mainstream class/race combo in Gw2, also.
Silvary are interesting, looks cool, moves good (like humans actually) and i’ve seen very very few Silvary in heavy armor around, so you’re hardly find a carbon copy of yours.

Oh, depends a bit on gender tho. Female, definitely Silvary. Male, i’d go for Human, i’ve heard Silvary male armors have a lot of estetic glitches.

All imo and for a purely cosmetic pov.

The only issue I see with wxp is that it rewards the zerger more than the roamer or havoc groups.

WXP rate seems fine to me, but looks adjusted on a Karma (now WXP) Train Zerg playstyle.

i am not a big fan of the german style, we cannot deny its efficiency but we can complain that they pushed the defensive logic another step further than us, combined with the arrowcarts mega-hardcore-boost I guess that all the servers which fighted against us and complained about hidden behind walls must be absolutely hilarious…

I can assure you, seeing Vizuna player complaining about the combo “Blobbing + AC + Runaway from open field” it’s absolutely hilarious.

The Karma is such a bad guy.

What we will get for once is VARIETY!

Stagnation kills MMOs faster than anything else. WvW is sorely in need of this change, it will be for the better.

Some weeks you will dominate, other weeks you will get dominated. But it will show you the tactics of the other servers, and in a few weeks, the tactics will help even things out.

So, we should prefer Variety over Balance?

Yes, I think we do. Balance will come as ratings are adjusted. And the largest culprit to why we are this unbalanced is because the matchup system has been poor this long.

I think they should open up free transfers for 2 days.

1st: every server will go for be the blue. Not double teaming the Green. Because, unless you’re in T1, green will try to lose/not win by large margin to avoid a climb up in tier, especially now that it’s a random thing.
2nd: how can you think to achieve more accurate ratings if the server gets randomly placed in a higher or lower tier? If a T2 server go T1, it will get butchered, and their ratings with him. If goes T3, it will dominate it, getting scored a “win with huge margin” in their ratings for no reason. Randomizing a servers placement in tiers doesn’t make ratings more accurate, just more volatile.
3rd: ratings are in first place there to match servers of equal power, striving for matches somewhat balanced. This change, and the “Variety variety variety in matchups” is just totally against it.

And, please, NO MORE KITTEN FREE TRANSFERS.

You’ve almost butchered the n°1 EU server 2 months ago (SFR) with those, don’t do it again.

Not really fond of this.

More accurate and responsive ratings? Of course.
But randomizing some matchup….feels a lot like a simple “for the sake of not facing the same 2 servers of last month”.

I mean, i can understand ppl who’d like a change in their server trio…but when a tier is so stable for so long, is should be because the 3 servers are balanced and having a good fight. (it SHOULD. atm it’s not always like that -EU T1 last 2 months- and that’s why ratings needs to be looked at.)

Randomizing if i’m going a tier up or down just for the sake of getting 2 different opponent and then having a overwhelming victory or defeat, cause i’m in the wrong tier, feels REALLY wrong to me.

Simply put, unlike nec (which is where is see you’ve taken the “Dmg Hybrid” idea), the condition dmg potential of Mesmer is plain awful.

Staff has Vuln procs, and we’re talking about autoattack proccing 2 possible different conditions, which means not be able to stack decently neither of them.
The only semi-reliable way of applying stacks of bleeding is Sharper images, which realies on illusion being cluncky at best, narrowing you in focus/pistol/GS for multi-hitting illusion attacks, and still it’s depending on AI randomness and survivability.
Lastly, confusion (the only condition you can apply decently as mesmer) is worthless in pve – and butchered in pvp/wvw.

So, IMO, for the mesmer a Power/Condition Dmg “Hybrid” isn’t nearly as effective as it’s Necro counterpart, because its Condition “branch” is just bad.

Right now, for a Mesmer dmg build, just go full zerk either with Shatter or Phantasm spec (or a mix of the 2, but careful when traiting for it), and ignore altoghether the conditions.

Just do what they should have done when changing up the skill for spvp:

-spvp split: summon is vulnerable
-wvw/pve skill: summon is invulnerable.

Easy, fast, effective and most obvious fix.

Make money (as you prefer to do.) → Buy stuff off TP (giant eyes) → get things done (craft the weapon).

Mesmers do have decent DPS.

It’s just that Warrior’s DPS is out of whack, but guess what?
It’s the main point of the profession.

Not really a fair comparison.
(on the other hand, the party utility of a Mesmer is some hundreds of times better than the Warrior. Well, except the party utility “killing stuff”.)

Agree with diffused sentiment here: Hammer is fine.
Don’t touch things which are not broken.

Ofc, it’s a CC weapon so you’re not going to get out incredible DPS out of it. Which means you’ll see it as manly PvP weapon.
But it’s fine this way.

Hammer could use few tweaks here in there, manly to skill n°2 and 3rd attack, or faster/on movement casting of 4°/5° skills, but that’s it.
