Just on the issue of celestial ascended trinkets being good for Eles.
Issue is simple: they aren’t.
Easily best solutions are the ones that push tactics and splitting zergs over zoneblobbing.
So:
-fix skill lag. with lag everybody can only press 1, so who have more ppl wins. no skill lag = undermanned side can actually play = tactics are possible = result of the battle is not set.
-redo maps. they don’t need huge overhauls in overall structure…but. make them bigger. fix some issues/balance regarding trebbing/siege/patterns (like red EB side able to treb directly in SM, and blue one having the worst tower placements of the 3). get rid of all the useless stuff in BL (namely, huge lake and areas filled of NPCs that are actually only wasted space on map), add in more enviromental tools to use as tactical advantage. In general, maps should be changed to deter a “everybody on the blue tag” zoneblobbing playstyle. Oh, and some differences between borders (terrain textures and elements are enough, like – Blue have icebrood themed atmosphere, Red destroyer Green sylvari and so on)… and maybe additional map (s) would be cool too i guess.
-fix skill lag.
-allow, wvw only, few specific skills to bypass the aoe limit (both defensive and offensive ones) – or have a higher limit. This creates tools to fight undermanned – also creating a “meta” in specific builds and weapons that have skills able to hit more than 5 target.
-fix skill lag.
-scoring system needs to be revised. how – it’s a totally differenf topic – but anything to diminish the “Coverage Wars” that WvW has become is ok.

-matchmaking needs to be fine-tuned.

-need a dedicate balance for skills. For example confusion dmg should be brought up again from spvp levels (but not until pve ones. oh, the whiners) because it had a much more important role being a real zerg breaker. Also, some skills could use tweaks to be more efficent in the wvw enviroment, where in spvp they’re not needed (and thus not added).
-fix skill lag.
-for the “punish mono zerg” topic again, WP to keeps under attack should be fixed. Blocking the 10 sec window where 80 man zergs can port in a keep under attack – or, at very least – limit the amount of players that can port in a contested WP. reached that limit, nobody can port there anymore.
-fix skill lag.
-siege weapons needs fine-tuning. manly, they should get buffed in the situation of defending a structure undermanned – but a straight dmg/efficency boost would lead to zergs able to istant build them or fight outmanned AND backed up by powerful siege (yes, AC buff has been a real shock while playing with servers like VS that just build ACs everywhere)
-fix skill lag.
-add a support for GvG, even better if gets some inlfuence on score. also, commander tag needs dramatic improvements.

(edit: oh, and do something for whole zergs rallying off a single downed guy or istant ressing their guys. take out the downed state, make ppl not able to res in combat, whatever, but do something)

Afaik fear, even if makes you unable to react w/o stunbreak/istancast skills, is treated as condition. So yeah, this sounds like a fix.
But then i’d expect them adding in a specific sigil for fear… (which won’t happen because ppl cry on necs so it’s nerf time).
Complete personaly story as requirement (or up until a certain point where race doesn’t matter anymore – after Battle of Claw iirc, where there is different cutscene if you’re a Sylvari), cultural armor get lost in the process (if you’ve spent 110g on that char it’s unlikely you dislike the race. and if you do, it’s your fault having spent so much gold on something you don’t like), can redo the char creation when changing race, racial skills gets resetted.
Cost, 1600 gems sounds accurate to me (double the total makeover).
Shadow return still ports you back to the original location, it just doesn’t break the stun.

Just like new Ele Lighting Flash or the Mes Phase Retreat, the skill allows you to move away while stunned – but do not break the stun.
On the other hand, the gap you can create (and SR gap is by far the largest of the 3) is usually enough to let the stun wear off while getting out of the spike, so it requires a precast and some clever positioning, but the effectiveness of the skill in matter of getting out of stuns is still strong.

It’s surprising to see that some players still not get the point about WvW.

Is there any practical reason to aim for that amount of points at all? I mean besides bragging rights, thou i wouldnt brag with anything achieved in game really…not like its changing the world.
Well, so far it’s just bragging.
Since 9th of July achivement points will reward stuff, so, who knows.
Nothing to do with all these organized GvG not absolutely reflect players McM.
Hint: it’s not GvG that it’s against WvW, it’s WvW that works against players that looks for fair, lagless, tactical and fun fights instead of zoneblobbing with 1 skill only at your disposal (3 if you’re in a AC! Wohooo!) due to lag and then who have more ppl for more time during day/night win.
WvW right now is dominated by that kind of playstyle – and ppl found a way around it.
Bringing on purpose your zerg, which is the thing GvG’ers are trying to escape, right into a GvG just shows how direspectful is your position – and now it’s borderline pathetic, attacking GvG to be “Against WvW” cause it doesn’t fit in your vision of a laggy skilless monoblob 24/7 as WvW.
It’s mental.

Actually, they could fit vendors directly in the Hall of Monuments, it’s so much wasted space!
Sword feels improved to me: they should only polish a bit more n°2 (but this is for all the rushes/leaps) and make n°3 more responsive and less telegraphed (aka: speed up that animation!).

The main issue of BL is that kitten huge lake in the middle.
The temples are nothing worthy to fight about – so ppl come cap and go, from every server.
Watergate garri (because the bay one isn’t good at all) is the main reason to sneak in the lake: for everything else, you just cross it to run or cut the travel times, but that’s it.
Don’t give them ideas! O.o

Considered that, unless there will be more unlock/discovery specific recipes – like Destroyer or Corrupted weapons – crafted exotics always comes with the pearl skin, i think this might come from MF.
Oh, and another stat set for armors/weapons/jewelry is assured too. Wonder only if it we the permanent return of Sentinel (doubt, cause Azurite wouldn’t have sense. But then i’d like to see the azurite and related recipes get a permanent spawn) or brand new one.
The only reason i’d take Warhorn is
-skipping/running stuff. Swiftness+Vigor+CC removal helps a lot.
-condition removal, BUT it’s bound to a 20 pts tactics trait that you’ll hardly go for in a dps build.
In any other situation i’d stick with mace, it offers much more dmg support (vuln + cc).
If you were looking for a defensive OH, i’d suggest Shield.
They spent 8 months balancing stuff including IC in the baseline.
October patch for example increased all phant CD’s of 4-5 sec.
Why?
Cause base CD’s + IC were too short.
Now that they’ve taken out IC from most builds (because going 25 instead of 5 pts in cond dmg + shatter CD line is a waste for most of them) CD’s are inadeguate to say the least.
The pacing of the whole profession feels off.
The point is, they don’t need to stop work on ‘x’ in order to pay attention to ‘y’ necessarily. That’s the whole point of having teams.

Tbh, i think they’re focusinga bit too much on all this Living World stuff.
Granted, it’s nice, but has 2 core issues:
-it’s not permanent content (so far)
-it doesn’t fix issues that base game still have.
Examples?
-Dungeons are in a bad state. Reward/time/effort ratio is out of whack (and no, i’m not talking about cof p1. it’s all the other 23 paths, that need to become more appetible.), metagame has depressingly become a DPS race, due to lack of depth in encounters..and there are still way too many bugs. Ah, and fractal is still waiting for new stage plus rebalance of current ones. And tokens, still needs to have other uses (inb4 core/lodestoens from vendors)
-Open world is empyt outside the boss chest event farming – and those events needs improvements too, most of the time it’s 40ish players spamming attack to a dmg sponge for 10 mins, then collecting reward. Not very epic.
-spvp…uh…well, i’ll skip the listing of issues. To name a few: unbalance, single and boring game mode, lack of rewards.
-wvw has a single but huge issue. Its treated as a mere extension of PvE – while actually it’s the main endgame mode of this MMO right now, even with all the issues (zoneblobbing, lag, bugs, unbalance, lack of rewards) that it have.
-gief us housing gvg anf more guild managing things. Give commander tags more tools. Extend some currently char bound stuff to be acc bound, stop punishing who plays on alts.
-plus, general bug polishing and balance across professions and across wordl/dg is needed hard.
^this is just to name things on top off my head.
I’m happy to see new stuff and new features every 2 weeks. Living World is a nice concept. And it’s improving every release.
But please, put it at hold for a couple of months and focus on your base game.

Point is at least before you could be able to cut insane CD times off a lot of skills at lvl 15 (cough IC cough).

That’s the point.
Mantra + Phant hybrid build can easily charge up mantras during phant attacks, for a minimal loss of DPS.
(oh, and you can shatter while charging. or fire off the other mantra. or pop the feedback, or use phase retreat…)
Meh, if we all mega zerged 24/7 we’d all be close to the achievement as well.

I’m quite happy about how wvw team play is working – BUT – it’s restricted to 5 classes.
(in a zerg/group play)
Main trinity:
-guards (sturdy backbone, cleanses, decent dmg, few controls). they carry easy blast.
-mesmers (manly utility box with glamours, some dmgand control, can have support)
-ele (utility trough fields for buff/regroup, jsut need ppl for blasting. direct support with heals and cleanses. strong CC. long range aoe pressure)
Additional:
-warrior (meele dmg. decent CC. some support – shout cleanses with soldier runes). carry easy blast.
-necro (aoe pressure, raw dmg and CC)
The medium armor classes are…a bit left out.
-thief: cluster bomb spam for blast, maybe venom/deception build..but that’s it
-ranger: traps can be used for decent snares, but other classes have way stronger and with longer range/aoe CC’s.
-engi: can have a place with nade/bombs or EG/bomb, carry a LOT of blast. it’s simply not used much tho.
Would be cool if they worked more like Engi kits, just with a bit more restrictions.
But having already 4 attunements, i doubt anything like that is going to be done..
If you want to know the biggest problem, its simple: way to many events that are fracturing attention.
Biggest problem is that spvp in current state is plain bad.
I’d prefer Anet to avoid push the spvp on esport scene (and be laughed at) now that it is at very least incomplete, work on make it whorty and then, push it hard.
And give Anet the chance to say “We make it better to use, so we can nerf it”?

Seriously, GW1 mesmer ability to control the field puts all the GW2 professions stacked toghether in shame.
GW2 mesmer is much more oriented on dmg – not a problem per se. Issue is, it’s getting bunked more and more each month.
The only type of weapon we dont have an option for is melee cleave.

“Vital” is a bit an exaggeration. But surely phantasms are hurt a lot by longer CDs if you’re
-not facing a boss. trash mobs die fast…and phantasm with them
-facing aoe. alpha for example burn down both meele and ranged phant extremely quickly.
Also, the hp boost is nice, but marginal – stuff in dg can oneshot players, let alone phant.
If you don’t like shatters, putting 25 points into illusions are almost like 20 points wasted.
I guess that when putting on the plate
-drop 25 pts in condition and shatter line (2 things you don’t care about it) just for IC
or
-lose IC to have 25 pts to drop in far more useful stat lines
he choose IC. Especially in a phant build, the re-summoning CD is vital. The fact that it now is so deep in the “shatter” trait line is just kittened, but hey: balance.

Just saying, when Anet say “we’re looking at water and arcane to make eles able to get out of those 2 lines only” it will mean “we’ll nerf them so hard that fire and air will look awesome”.
Just like IC for Mes “every single mes build need that trait? should we get the message and improve base CDs and then change it? nah, better move it far away, so they’ll have 5 more free points to place elsewhere or screw all their trait placement to get it again. enjoy build diversity!”

On serious note, latest patch was a good step. Staff less clunky, more Air burst openings, some love for earth/condition spec, and reshuffle of stunbreaks (LF still rocks.)
But the approach to balance is schyzofrenic to say the least, and there are some base issues that needs tobe worked out.
Only mantras, no. As said above, they simply are not competitive.
But they’re a very interesting complement for hybrid builds.
Namely, Mantra of Restoration + Mantra of Pain + harmonious mantras alone can, with few trait points (can fit in a lot of builds) and investing just 1 utility+heal skill slot, give a very nice support flavour.
(most of the time, if you’re using mantras is for harmonious.)
See builds like Glamour master + Mantra support. Or Phantasm + Mantra.
They have the nice utility or dmg of the base glam/phant build, but packs in the raw healing support of mantras.
Just one question, did NCSoft assign all thier good PvP developers to Wildstar and Carbine studios? Because thier systems in closed beta with Elo, 2, 3 & 5 man arena, ranked and Unranked battlegrounds seem to put GW2 to shame.

Ele autoattacks are lackuster because you have other 16 skills, instead of 4, to rotate.
In other words, you’ll rarely find yourself in the situation “Autoattacking cause i’m waiting cooldowns”, because you can just hop in another attunement.
Given that you’re not playing very poorly, but that’s another story.
PvP. So GW2 could have one.

The tomes are good but situational, Renewed Focus goes from “meh” to “WTF OP” the more you invest into Virtues. They’re really far from useful, and no elite tops saving your allies butts with a well timed AoE full-heal with the tome of healing 5th skill.

Guardian elites are not useless – BUT, they’re extremely situational.
Too much squishy for a commander. With the tag, you have to be the last guy who dies, cause you’re leading all the rest of people.
I wouldn’t carry any berserker gear and as much of soldier and sentinel as you can. Also, having focus without its trait is a bit fail.
As a mesmer and being a commander, I would focus more on team support and glamour than rather a shatter zerker.

Go full tank, personal survivability should be your first worry as commander.
Then you can think about the rest of build – Veil and group utility are good ideas, but remember again: you must be the last one going down, charging first in the middle of the enemy and get out of it alive.
So, you’re saying Rangers were nerfed because they were OP in sPvP, that is ludicrous.

Edit: Also – what I noticed: Why is there still the strange bug that you don’t get swiftness from Mesmer/Guardian they place on the ground if you already have swiftness… shouldn’t it add 10 more seconds? This seems a bit bugged to me. Would make it much easier to stack swiftness then.
Mesmer curtain is designed to do NOT apply swiftness if you already have it.
Guardian symbol is wonky because it apply the boon every pulse – and happens to cross the symbol too fast so you miss the boon. That’s why larger symbol is a popular choice in wvw.
I still feel wrong with pacing since patch.
IC atm is far too expensive, so in my theorycrafting and testing i decided to drop it.
No problem to manage.
BUT, all the increased CDs has really hampered the flowing of combat. Before i was able to use decent chains of skills w/o much “death times” when you autoattack w/o any skill to fire off.
Now i see a lot of times the need to wait for skills.
Granted, this makes firing them more meaningful, but considering that illusions are the main mechanic (and dmg source. and defence. and utility. and and and and…) of mesmers and that they’ve been balanced using the IC traited CDs as reference, i feel the pacing really off now.
And i realize that it’s been 10 months of nerfs due to spvp crying – and that it won’t stop.
It’s bad.
Unless you’re splitting in the 3 game modes, this survey is meaningless.
Remember that Anet balance stuff basing on spvp, not on pve/wvw.
So the “worst pve (and/or wvw) class” can easily be the one getting nerfs due to spvp perfomance – cough ranger cough – or the opposite.
