Agree, can’t use Kudzu if you’re not a Sylvari, it looks silly. Especially on a heavy armored Dragonhunter.
I love my Kudzu on my Asuran Dragon Hunter and my human Druid. I think it’s perfect in every way although I can understand why people would like to have more options.

I love the Logitech G600. You can get it for about $40 on Amazon. It has 12 thumb buttons + a G-shift (works like a shift key so you can bind 12 MORE keys if you really need to). All of my weapon skills, F1-F4, weapon swap are on the mouse and it really has improved my play. You can set a couple of profiles for different games using the software.
I don’t have any issues with the size of the mouse, and I’m a female with probably average sized hands. Would definitely recommend the black one, I made a mistake buying it in white >.>
This. I love my G600. Mainly because of the extra right click button which I bound my swap weapon to. I am female with tiny hands and it works for me.
I would LOVE more options! Next to playing with my friends and family, my favorite thing to do is dress up my characters. I have spent an embarrassing amount of money making them pretty and to suit my mood of the day. More options means more money for Anet.
There isn’t anything wrong with one DK, it’s 4 stacking traps but couldn’t that be said about other classes stacking their abilities in one place? I think one reason there are so many of them is it’s easy to play compared to other classes. I’ve tried other classes and keep coming back to my DK because the others require more skill and twitch response than my 60 year old brain and hands can handle.
All gliders should be backpacks. I would buy more of them if they were.
I understand what you’re saying and I like the idea of mixing and matching too but the thing I like about outfits is I can wear cloth on my heavy or medium armor characters and vise versa; with armor skins, I can’t do that. My Guardian loves her dresses. It would be great to be able to do both.
I agree 100%. Sometimes the nerd rage and hate I see makes me hate the human race then someone does something really kind that turns it all around. People don’t realize that one mean thing you did or said or that one kind thing you did or said can make such a huge difference to someone.
Also, if you want to see what’s in it for you, if you are mean and hateful, you will make some people quit then you will have fewer people to play with/against. (Of course you won’t believe it’s your fault but it could be) On the other hand, if you are kind and helpful, you will have more people to play with/against and the game will thrive. Also, by helping other players you will make them better so you won’t have to scream that you lost because everyone else (not you of course) on your team is an kitten kitten idiot and you hope their whole family dies in a fire.
Anela
Hey all! We are definitely aware of this issue and are investigating. Any details you may have – like when it happened, if you were in a party, if everyone accepted the match (or if no one accepted) before you were kicked out would be helpful.
It happened to us around 6 times last Saturday before we gave up. We were a full group of 5 guild members speaking to each other on voice chat. We all accepted but sometimes we would get the abandoned message before we all had a chance to accept and we were all there ready and waiting to click accept. I asked in map chat if others were having the same problem and they were. I also submitted a bug report when it happened.
We haven’t tried again since Saturday.
Thank you,
Anela
Would equipping rodgort melt frostfang? Now that would be a joke!
Kudzu could also be seen as a joke, but my sylvari ranger really synergizes with it…
I hope there will be a nice legendary longbow fo my warrior however.
Kudzu is the most beautiful bow ever created anywhere. I only play characters that can use a longbow because I won’t play without my Kudzu. On my Asura, I can make a bed of flowers buy spinning in place. It makes me smile every time.
I love the game since HoT! Gliding is great and the HoT maps are challenging and interesting. I hope the next expansion is as good as this one was.
Kept happening to me and my guildies too. We could never get into unranked on Saturday as a group of 5 so we gave up. I reported it but never heard anything back.
Edit: I hope this isn’t intentional. I would understand not wanting a pre-made group for ranked but not for unranked. I play with my husband, son, grandson, and best friend so it would be awful if we couldn’t play together.
(edited by Anela.3867)
This happened several times to me and several of my guild mates. We just gave up and did some pve instead. I reported it but never got a response.
Also, include racial choices. My female Asuran hates having to wear pants most of the time.
Huh? I feel like you don’t even ranger. 1 the elite specs are always stronger in wvw fights except for maybe support guard.
And for your brain dead blob fights they would just have to give ranger back there old old throwable traps back for cleaves, rez prevention, bombs etc.
Also why is this even a thread? If you could play rev at you might as well go druid. There’s deff solid frontline builds.
Hahahahahahaha
Traps scale by and large with condi damage, and condi weapons are absolute garbage for large scale WvW since you have no condi weapon that comes close to aoe/condi cleave with the exception of the odd bonfire which is just a crappier version of warrior longbow burst or what ele/engineer already do better.
Rangers are a useless large scale WvW class. Your only function is to go into gimmick longbow builds to bother backline eles, that’s it. That’s all ranger might be useful for and even there a thief serves a much better purpose to quickly take out a backline.
That’s why most rangers run druid roamer builds.
> Rangers are a useless large scale WvW class.
I do not see how one can hold that opinion. Sure, rangers that do not use the druid spec are useless, and even those who use the druid spec without a focus on support are useless, but saying ranger is a useless large scale WvW class is silly. Druid has the highest burst healing in the game, which is very useful in large scale fights when damage spikes bring down players to near death. Druid also can provide condition cleanse, stealth access, superspeed, sustained healing, CC, and can do fine out of party if played correctly to focus healing on those who are low. Druid has unique utility, depending on the build, where it provides powerful offensive buffs in the form of Spotter, Grace of the Land, fury, glyph of empowerment or even frost spirit. Druid has access to a moving water field, a water field that absorbs projectiles and shoots out healing “bolts”, and if taken another waterfield that lasts for 10 seconds and removes a condition every 2 seconds while applying regeneration (Although the 10k+ burst heal from glyph is usually better here :P) I just do not see how druid can be described as a useless WvW class. It provides the best burst healing ingame, along with sustained healing, condition cleanse, CC, powerful offensive buffs, blast finishers (Ancestral Grace/LI/COTW), etc..But what if we don’t want to be your heal bot and want to actually be a Ranger? We should be able to play that way too and still make a contribution.
How would you propose playing it?
With my bow and my pet, the traditional Ranger abilities.

First one is universal. If enemy tries to bleed you out in downstate, u can prevent it by relogging fast. If u have fast computer u gain a lot of time respawning instantly.
Second one is small opening advantage. U can gain swap sigil effect at the begining of the match. All u have to do is to jump from high ground 3 seconds before match starts (this make u spawn in combat) and then, when match starts u swap to weapon with swap sigils.
So….you need to cheat to win?
Anet, please, I know you won’t listen but I’m begging you anyways. Pay this artist and add these hairstyles to the game.
Those are awesome!
Instructions would be nice. I am new to pvp and I love it but a lot of the time I don’t know what to do. I LOVE the people who ping the area we should go…that helps a lot. I am going to look for instructional videos and other guides to help me get better. Be nice to people, they may be trying their best but just don’t know what to do.
I would like new hairstyles also. I love dressing up and changing the looks on my characters. I wish female Humans had access to the Norn hairstyles. Those are my favorite.
Its the magitech medium armor skin
Thank you!
Absolutely! No problem! Now…if they would only give us some more skin-showing tops like light armor classes have….
Agreed!
Its the magitech medium armor skin
Thank you!
Yes.
They are not exclusive to longbow unless they specify it.
That’s what I was hoping to hear! Thank you, Justine!

I apologize if this has already been answered but I couldn’t find it.
Do the Marksmanship traits affect the staff? For example, can I proc Remorseless while using my staff?
Thank you,
Anela
Update:
As I’m climbing higher and higher and starting to queue with people in the top 50-100, I’m finding that I don’t have to run a blade offhand (Sword or GS) for the survivability, because everybody can actually carry their own weight and perform correct rotations and play their roles in teamfights.
As such, the LB build is feeling 1000x stronger than my initial impression because I can play more off point, and when I call targets for the LB combo, those targets actually die because the players are at a skill level where there is a mutual understanding of the tactics that are happening.
In general, having people that understand what the build can and can’t do and play their role to encompass their game knowledge helps me to understand why the metagame would want Druids to be running LB, since a LB pick with some amount of competence in a team and organization can instantly snowball teamfights.
Does this mean you are using the shoutbow meta build or your own set up?
Anela
The only thing I’m back and forth on is the runes at the moment. Even though Dolyak Runes really aren’t necessary to generate Astral Force at the rate needed to enter Celestial Form every 15 seconds, I find that every so often, I end up in that situation where I would have needed Dolyak Runes because of their passive generation of Astral Force versus needing to be active to generate it.
So I’m still playing around with either Dolyak or Leadership runes. With the meta settling on less and less condi builds, and with the way condi builds are working now, I’m finding that Druidic Clarity plus Signet of Renewal (plus Leadership Runes when I have them on) is enough cleansing as long as I use them properly, so I’ve turned away from Soldier/Trooper runes entirely.
So yeah. A good example of what I’m talking about with the runes is if I have to end up kiting a lot in a team fight so that I can’t be active and generate Astral Force and an enemy Necro AoE corrupts the Regen I gave everyone. Or if I make the push to recapture home and their thief is a well known thief that decides they can duel me despite it not being the optimal thief strategy and plays incredibly hit and run so that I can’t actively generate Astral Force and they can slowly burst and wait.
It isn’t always common, but I find myself saying “if I had only had Dolyak Runes there” more than I say that about any other runeset still, which is why I’ve been giving them another go.
Thank you for your response. I appreciate the explanation too.

The gameplay is nothing special and I never planned on linking any of my youtube videos to the forums because it’s just silliness and entertainment I share with my guild.
Disclaimer aside, I put together a bunch of clips from the previous season and offseason of myself using different non-bow variations of the metabuild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNx73qSEdhE
For any of the people it might help.
Thank you. I enjoyed that very much.

Since today is my last day alive, I wanted to make sure everyone knows I’ll be disappearing from Guild Wars 2. Just wanted to share some last stuff that may be interesting to someone:
Skirmishing and Quickdraw sux – Double Marskman proc rapidfire hits more than 2 skirmishing rapidfires
Vampirism rune is the only choice – everything else gimps the build
You can do well versus any class offpoint giving the decap but not the full cap, try to evade and los until you can burst with petswap. You can stow third autoattack of Greatsword 3 times for 3 evade frames(this is key to holding 1v1s and then counterpressuring)
You won’t win with any 1v1 w a warrior as long as he has mace – too much reflect. Just disengage from him. If you’re holding a node and one is approaching you its better to knock, stealth and disengage. You can fight them in crossroads but getting 2nd endure with maceblock reflect is a waste of time essentialy.
Abusing terrain is the biggest thing with this build. When no one can port to you you can win trashton of matchups.
Staff is a viable choice for temple since you can get to the highround on middle and easily throw free damage on the enemy, in soloQ its worth taking staff just for temple to snowball the first fight since it basically ends 80% of games.
You should be calling targets for you team right about youre ready for burst. Necro is not a great target since you need to range them with your limited condi clear and when you want to burst you finish off in melee. Eles make better targets.
On legacy watch the node and poke from the side, get on the siderock to avoid ports when someone seem to switch to you.
When you get jumped on by a thief, clear the blind and use protect me then land your cc. If you can land protect me he will for sure disengage. YOu can also clear the blind and counterattack tho its a bit more tricky.
Your +1s are as effective as top classes as long as you land your cc initially.
2v2s are mostly good if your partner can set up cc for you, avoid warriors.
Signet of the wild is trash if the enemy has a thief/rev since protect me wins you these matchups.
Lightning reflex is trash if the enemy doesnt have anyone you need to range (mes, nec, dps ele)
Tiger and Smoke are the best pets because they proc the marksmanship traits easily and get the most burst out of it. Other pets are a waste of time.
Wilderness Survival can make your matchup vs engi winnable if you manage to poison their heal/venting mist constantly.
You always need to stay out of range and try to abuse terrain before looking for burst opportunities.
The sustained damage is crap, although you make million dmg per game but its just constantly spamming LB1 rly, try to setup burst with your team or follow up their cc. If you duoQ, duoQ with someone that can 1v1 and when they force a major cd +1 for an easy kill. After playing this build for a month you should have the timings right.
Dont complain about hiltbash. Hilt bash is very easy to land, quickness from petswap is how you use it.
Healing from avatar is trash, if you ahve people on yourself just use it for stelath and use your slotted heal.
When youre really forced to watch the node and enemy doesnt have condi, spike trap does surprisingly well for setting up your burst. Its also unpredictable.
Landing stealth is key to surviving, learn to about face LB3 for instant stealths that dont disrupt your movement.
And idk what else to write, i coulda made tons of videos to show kitten up but it’s too late now
i guess cya xd
Thank you, Nila. What do you mean your last day alive?
Actively healing your pet (or anyone on your team) by any means will heal you.
Thank you. I don’t mean to sound so ignorant but I just recently started using a staff. I am one of those stubborn people who believe Rangers should use bows and I have been doing my best to do that, to little avail, so I thought I would try other things. Right now, I am working on learning the staff with sword/war horn.
Sorry to hijack the thread. I am really enjoying the different opinions on the different builds.
Anela
Staff heals you on the autoattack when you heal your pet with it, and I put staff 2 on him on recharge and stayed close to him. Most people forget staff 2 exists, but it’s actually a solid skill. When he swapped to bristleback I used staff 5. I just outsustained him. S/d is great for dodging important stuff, but there is nothing important to dodge on staff. When he swapped back to staff I used my CC.
I’m so glad I asked! I didn’t know you could do that! (healing your pet would heal you) I have so much to learn. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

(edited by Anela.3867)
I wanted to be a Ranger to use a bow but with so much projectile hate these days, other options are better. Make the bow a first choice of weapon for a Ranger…not a staff or a sword.
As long as you have staff I think your weapon swap is not super important. GS still works.
The other day I beat a competent s/d druid when I had LB equipped because I used a lot of staff.
I am trying to get better with the staff so would you mind telling me how the staff made a difference fighting that druid?
Thank you,
Anela
Love it! I have tried my best to play a Druid because that is what EVERYBODY seems to play but I just can’t do it. It’s probably because I am not a very good player. I want to be a Ranger and do Ranger stuff so it’s good to see a video and build that does just that. Thank you for sharing it.
I’m really enjoying the videos and seeing your builds. Please keep them coming.
Thank you for the explanation, Eleazar. Druid makes more sense to me now. Would you mind posting your spec? I would love to see it.
Thanks,
Anela
Sure but which one (my solo wvw (condi or power) build or havoc, Pvp i switch it up depending on enemy comp) ? I run all the builds depending on what I want to do. I try not to fall in love with just one build ranger is super flexible and your nerfing yourself if you don’t bring whats best to the fight. the only trait line I don’t run in pvp is skirmishing because condi ranger is eh in pvp, if a condi ranger and power ranger got into a fight power should win (in the current meta) nine out of ten. (I’d be willing to duel to prove my point to any challengers :p) sorry to be so vague but I’m a bit of a ranger die hard and will literally talk my guildies ears off when it comes to build crafting
I would ask for your favorite but it looks like you don’t have one.
I love to talk builds too and love to hear other’s explanations of theirs and how it works. I very new to being a Ranger and am still learning the intricacies of the class.
Anela
First op sorry to say this but you might’ve been in bronze because of this build. I totally get playing stuff that’d fun for you (this is a videogame after all some peeps forget that) even so this build is kinda terrible man.
First off you have no stun breaks, second celestial form when your not spec for healing is still fantastic for a full cleanse of which you have almost none. Just pop in and out, however a good rotation for celestial form is 2,3, 4 pop ur mushroom (member it cleanses too might take of a pesky poison that got applied after the fact) blast it for retal, it’s also an aoe daze so it’s great for taking pressure of of you or interrupting rez stomps, followed by 4 even with the healing nerf it still works. Also celestial forms skill 5 can be a game changer if used correctly the damage is eh but it’s pluses cripple, slow, and finally imbolbs, fantastic for helping lock people down in aoes, I love using it when I see a necro bomb enemy downs, played right and you can help reset a team.
Personally I would drop the poison trap for flame trap if your dead set on trap runes, first getting the burns out there and is were you can get some real damage, it’s a short CD (12secs) which also means you can stealth more.
Also I’d take shared anguish instead of the poison when your healths up cause you need stunbreaks.
I’d also take troll urgent over healing trap and ws reduction trait line for more cleanses lower cds and also is an awesome way to regen celestial form, the downside is you have to pop it as soon as you feel your going to get pressured.
If your dead set on trapper ranger your going to need to hug a good support or 1v1 oner, because of ancient seeds druid have amazing synergy with warriors. Stun lock fools for days.
And to anyone this thread you take druid form for the amazing major traits, I love playing base ranger and do quite often for duels and solo roaming, but the major traits in druid form are just so essential to contributing to your team in PvP and anything bigger than a 2v2 in wvw.
First off druidac clearity is a FULL cleanse every 15 secs if you regeneration celestial form right in the Condi meta not only do you have to cleanse from 1 person but from multiple people and cleanse a lot at once.
Second off celestial shadow omg it’s a short instant shadow refuge on demand that gives super speed to allies too!! If I got a dollar for every time a teammate said ty so much for the stealth rez or getting them out of kittening dodge, I’d buy a net and have them switch honed axes with empathic bond (and make it give Condi damage instead of ferocity)
Thirdly the ancient seeds! As a ranger period, being able to effectively cc and lock down your target is life, not only is it good against certain classes in 1v1s, it has sooooo much synergy with teammates as they cc and you just love tap your enemy’s for lockdown.
Also the skills in celestial form are actually really really useful even if your not a healer, aoe daze? Check moving water field that teammates can blast or you can if your running clarion bond and swap pets check, pulsing ape cripple slow and an ape imolb that can give you stab is you weapon stow. Check
Looks dope as kitten check kittening mate. (Minds me of the night crawler deer god from princess monoke)
Thank you for the explanation, Eleazar. Druid makes more sense to me now. Would you mind posting your spec? I would love to see it.
Thanks,
Anela

if your being chased drop poison trap keep running and drop spike then use entangled before you invisibility is up back flip and use bonfire it fun
Thanks! I am still trying out different builds to see what works for me.

SOTW can help you reg AF which is hard without a staff, also you invest in piercing shots for SB so stability and 8 sec of unblockable can be nice for some pressure. With DC and CS you’ll have much better time vs thieves and rangers, you struggle now because you dont have stun breaks nor stability, and your heal is your only on demand condi clear. Maybe i’m wrong , have little experience with traps builds but i think it will be better.
thank you i have a stupid question i do not use avatar much but when i tried i always die. is their anyway to stop it a few sec after activating it?
Same thing happens to me. I know it has to be me and my lack of skill but I really don’t understand the appeal of being a Druid. I like Natural Stride and Ancient Seeds but there are much more appealing (to me) abilities in other spec lines. I would really appreciate someone telling me why Druid is better than the other spec lines.
Thanks,
Anela
Congratulations! Please share your build?
I just got a couple of friends together and did them pretty quickly. Like loseridiot said above, join a train. There are a lot of nice people out there willing to lead and help. Look for a commander or mentor tag on the map or ask in zone.
No. I don’t like capes.
I agree with everything you said.
I want to be able to turn the shoulders off too…..and the butt cape. I love the rest of the outfit.
Thank you, Santa Charr! I got some very nice gifts too! Thanks for the gifts and especially for the happiness you brought by thinking of me.
I really don’t think they do much. I’ve been trying to make Druid work without healing, but it’s not going well. You need over 1000 healing for Druid to be viable. I don’t see it working anyway.
Druid only works with Menders amulet. All else fail. They removed all build diversity last patch.
Edit: Sage might work with Druid runes. Trying that now.
I had more fun with my Druid when I got out of the mindset that druid was only for healing. I have so much fun on my bleed Druid now, but will be sticking with the amulet and rune I currently use.
I have no intentions of going back to a pure heal build.
Would you mind posting your bleed build? I would be very interested in seeing it.
Thank you,
Anela
I love it the way it is now. My guild and I left a couple of years ago because doing hearts just wasn’t our idea of fun after a while. We recently decided to come back to see what it was like not and we love it! HoT is the best pve in any game we have ever played by far. Lots of action, the world interconnects and what you do can influence the rest. Gliding!!! We also enjoy the pvp and wvw. I love the gem store……way too much.
Your Char is adorable! I don’t need anything but thank you for bringing a smile to my face.
Please make the floral glider a backpack also.
