-Put a 1/4s cast time on phase retreat
-Put a 3s cd on deceptive evasion

PU mesmers aren’t even using staff, so i don’t really know where your problem with Phase Retreat is. Just remember that giving it a cast time is going to remove a LOT of it’s utility and might make staff unusable for a lot of build, causing even more PU mesmers to pop up.

DE doesn’t need a cd, it’s gated by endurance, which even took a hit with the Vigor nerf. Double dodging to burst also takes way too much time and can’t even be done from stealth since the illusions are visible.

Why an internal cd? Because every other on dodge skill has one.

Yes it would nerf the staff, but why does 1 class deserve to have a 10s cd (or less) teleport? That is basically a stun breaker vs melee classes.

No teleport in this game has a cast time and also Phase Retreat is not a stun breaker.

There’re a lot of dodge traits that don’t have internal CD. In fact, dodge traits with internal CD are the minority, 4 out of 11 have it.

I think the problem might be the ssd. First make sure the ssd is running at AHCI.

Also, most recent Kingston V300 have been proved to be shi_tty ssd with speeds even lower than normal hdd.

I suggest you to do a speed test to know the speeds. If they’re unreasonable low and it’s running at AHCI, the only solution would be to throw that ssd to the rubbish and buy one with one with a reputable brand like Samsung or Crucial.

Mesmers are fine where they’re at… Just add some form of counterplay against them.

  • Have them unstealth immediately when they use any skills or abilities
“but mantras would be useless -snip-” no, it would be fair.
  • When they Shatter, make clones walk 15% slower.
  • Their F3 shouldn’t instantly remove Stability on targets. 4 shatter Daze hits should count as 1 stability stack removal.
  • First change would also affect thief and this is an awful change to stealth mechanic. Why go invisible if you cannot do anything?
  • Want slower clones? Wait for Chronomancer and the trait that gives superspeed to illusions when shattered. Better start dealing with them.
  • Then you have to change how boon removal works, and this won’t happen.

If those are your changes, then you know nothing.

Never mentioned a change to “stealth mechanic”… meant this solely just for Mesmers.
Reasoning – Mesmers bursting in stealth – meant to add some form of counterplay.

Superspeed – All the more reason why clone shatter activation speed needs a speed reduction now, rather than later. Time Split Shatter bursts is going to be ridiculous.

Mechanics are not tided to a single profession. If you change a mechanic, that affects the whole game. It applies for stealth and boon ripping.

Actually, mesmer bursts are the most predictable and easy to avoid, unless they do the bursts next to you, where the illusions speed doesn’t matter.
It is clear a l2p issue.

What is the difference between clicking a key and clicking the mouse button? If that is such a big difference then I deserve to be banned. Logic dictates it’s not but hey, humans are rarely logical.

Combat mod goes against ToS rules because it automatizes things like camera angle or targeting. You have an advantage over others because you don’t have to activate those things.

Then, since it’s a 3rd party software, there’s no point to post it here, because anet doesn’t have control to such thing.
Also, the guy that did it said in one of his videos that it wouldn’t update it.

Finally, you’re the first person with such issue, and I don’t really can understand why you have such problems unless you have a physical problem in your hand, in which case you shouldn’t be playing games.

If you think weapon swap in ele would be a good thing, then your judge about balance is completely wrong.

Ele is and has been the most OP profession for a lot of time, across all game modes. Highest DPS in pve, indispensable in pvp, brilliantly and one of a hell versatile in zergs, and good for roaming and dueling.

Mesmers are broken as hell in my opinion and are the easiest class to play at the moment.

The massive burst they can pull off from stealth (pretty often too) is absurd. They can disengage a fight whenever they want as well.

There’s a certain setup I use which is straight up unkillable yet does massive damage. I gave this build to my wife who just leveled her mesmer to 80 and was just constantly winning any fight she got into.

I stopped running mesmer because it makes me a lazy player. It basically took the fun out of the game because there’s zero risk of dying.

Judging a whole profession with only one build. Your argument is solid.

What bothers me most about ele is not cele stats, specific skills or things they can do, but the ridiculous access to all skills thanks to joke CD’s in attunements.
This allow the class to do a perma rotation of spamming of skills, which turns the class OP since they can do everything (damage, CC, healing…) any moment without the drawback of the cooldown management.

Ele Vs Mesemer

in PvP

Posted by: Ansau.7326

Ansau.7326

Ele is quite more OP than mesmer, there’s no build to counter this class unless you outnumber, while mesmers always have a drawback or most builds have heavy counters.
The thing is people are used to ele being how it is, but not to what mesmers can do now. This doesn’t mean the mesmer is completely broken, just people don’t know how to manage and meta has not change to adopt and/or manage what mesmers bring to te meta table.

Ele, on the other hand, is the perfect profession. It has everything you could imagine in a single build.
Decent power damage, decent condi damage, might stack, stability stack, offensive boons (fury, reta), defensive boons (rege, protection), condi cleansing, passive healing, active healing though a lot of skills, soft CC (cripple, weakness, vulnerability), hard CC (, chill, stuns, knockdowns, launch), great mobility both in combat and ooc…

Ok so right now, 20:45 main prime time. Where are those spanish people. Whole EB and your BL is almost blue or green.

In Mos Millenium you can see Baruch played a lot during 17h and 19h. That’s the usual time for all those guilds who do raid during afternoon. Now they’re resting.

People in Spain have dinner at around 9pm-9.30pm. That’s why between 20.30 and 22.00 there’s no one.

Now, 22.33, Baruch has 20 people in EB queue, in our borderland there’s also a public commander, and the other 2 borderlands have 2 guilds doing their raids.

There aren’t many people in Europe who speak Spanish.

Europe has around 500 million people. Spain has 47 million people and more than 15 million of people around the rest of Europe know Spanish.

What points? It’s you who doesn’t understand Baruch is full of european people, and your idea to move it to NA is nonsense.

- First because people are from Spain, so they have the right to play in EU.
-Second because that would mean to merge servers from both EU and NA, since the amount of servers have to be a multiplier of 3.
- Third because you want to move tons of people for the pride of a very few who have a problem easily fixed by moving to another server.
- Fourth because no matter what you do, Spanish people will still play at the same time. Go look and see Spanish guilds outside Baruch (siN or Core), they still play at the same time.

Just face it and embrace it. If you want to fight against Spanish people, play during our times…

So if it’s not fun for you, don’t play, move to a much lower tier server to avoid Baruch or move to NA.
Since when you have more rights than tons of Europeans?

And about “my” guild, I’ve not been playing the game for months. In fact, I’m not even in that guild. And even if I was there, what if some members use a bug? That doesn’t make you point more valuable, since everybody is using it, so everyone is affected.

Stop being asinine. Some people don’t work from 9 to 5. Some people don’t work 5 days a week. Some people don’t work at all. Some people are students.

Additionally, it has long been known that prime time in Spain starts later than other EU countries.

All fine, but that is not what Baruch Bay is made off. Do you have any idea how boring it is to fight an completly empty server during the morning, daytime and evening? The things you described are valid for all other servers but not as much for BB. Without the US region players BB would be lowest tier, if not complete bottom.
I can only imagine these players just wanted a Spanish server only to find out they are mostly fighting nothing but doors, but since none of the US based servers have language preference they choose BB.

Youre wrong. These people are in baruch cause we paid them. Mexican army has been in baruch since the start of the game, but we manage to include argentinian and chilenean ones also. Then we recently managed to embrace to come a lot of people from different countrie. They were all playing in a dead server in NA, so the idea of baruch was quite interesting for them.

Also, you may think baruch is boring to play against, but the truth is all rest of servers are boring, full okittenward people who play during lunch and dinner and go to sleep at 10pm. What snoring lives you have!!

This would make sense if leveling took quite a lot of time. The thing is in this game you can level really fast if you know how to do it.
When the game was launched back in 2012, a lot of people were already level 80 before 28th August, the official launch date.

Nowadays? It’s even way easier to level with all the tons of things they have added.

Devs would need to change a lot of things to match the level scaling. Too much work to change a thing that would remain the same.

- Reflections to “Terrain & Sky”.
- Character Limits to “Medium” or “High”.
- Shadows to “High”.

With all this you should be able to run the game pretty decently. 25fps is world boss fightsand blobVSblob, 35-40fps in guild zergs and cities, 60fps while roaming, pvp and general pve.

Does it matter what I play or what I don’t? The knowledge of a class and its strengths and weaknesses goes beyond what you’re playing or at which levels. Specially in gw2, where besides tournaments the rest of pvp is purely a buch of randoms and casuals, even ranked matches.
I can assure you in Obsidian Sanctum you can find tons of people that know way more about a class than is top100.

Mantra Mesmer is indeed severely overboard OP at the moment.

  • Top DPS Burster
  • Top sustain class
  • Top CC class
  • Top stealthing/disengagement
  • Has no hard-counter
  • Literally the best option for all conquest jobs ~ point holder ~ peeler ~ burster

You do the pros & cons yourself
There is no doubt that Mantra Mesmer was given too much on June 23rd 2015

No.
- One of the worst point holder.
- No way has top-stealthing.
- Hardcountered by CC and heavy condis.
- Pure shatter has higher burst.
- No DE.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAsfRlknhG1YZawINwtGLnGk5O22MIDwCCa5Iae4A-TpghwAwLDAY/BA

I admit, it lacks a little bit in the cc department, but overall it has all mentioned stuff.

Or
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAsfRlknhG1YZawGNwtGLnGEaE6+3JDwCCa5Iae4A-TpghwAwLDAY/BA

Those builds have some flaws.
- First one has very little CC on long CD and the condi cleansing is quite poor (since once the mantra stacks are gone, you are done). In fact, trait choice is not the best one.

- Second has better CC and more damage, but looses condi cleanse potential (so any condi burst will be your death) and you become way more squishy without all boons from Chaos.

In the end, what mesmer only needs is what mesmer main players have been saying. CS, PU and Blinding Dissipation should be toned down. But beyond that it only hurts the class unreasonably, and anyone wanting more nerfs doesn’t have reasonable arguments to stand them, beyond lacking the knowledge to face this profession.

Uummm then it’s the cpu bottlenecking the gpu. This is a heavy cpu based game, so the first thing to get better performance is to upgrade the cpu.

Just going to an intel dual core you’d see a big improvement.

The gpu is runing at pcie 1.1, so it’s heavily bottlenecked. Make sure it’s placed in the correct pcie slot and the bios is not blocking the 2.0 speed.

Also try some driver from before Maxwell was released. Nvidia is known to downperform the older gpus when a new architecture is released. It happened to me with my gt 525m.

See here’s the thing. People who main Mesmer think Mesmer is hard. That’s why people hate Mesmers:

1.) Mesmers bait dodges through AI and instant cast. Fact.
2.) It’s not hard to land shatter/burst when it’s instant cast AND Mesmer has an easy time baiting dodges and cool downs. Fact.
3.) Mesmer has zero trade-off when they attack people because they can spam evades on top of AI and Instant Cast.
4.) And if bad things happen? Just stealth, teleport to ledges, and portal away.

TL;DR Mesmer takes no skill.

There’s no skill when most defenses are active (meaning to have to activate them) and burst requires to synchronize 3-6 skills, but there’s skill with burst=1 button, auto-evades with AA, I smash the keyboard and things happen…

This thread is so full of half-truths, disinformation and misinformation on what mes can and can’t do damage wise. I hope that the Devs ignore it and are only looking at live PvP combat and kitten their full combat logs for all classes to reveal what is out of balance. People talking about 20K insta death mesmers are generally referring to that dumb youtube video posted where a Guard is deliberately standing still and the Mes attempts many times to pull off a difficult hard hitting combo that downed the guard.

Youtube are strewn with different class combos which can quickly down a heavy practice golem after patch (this is effectively what those guys were doing). Ironically a Guard can also perform insta kill combos which I’ve experienced a few times first hand. I think some of the thread is based on genuine concern, but a lot of it reads like I don’t like fighting Mes so nerf them into the ground.

Hopefully the devs have enough intelligence to base any rebalancing around facts they determine from in-game, rather than some person who was half afk or didn’t realise he/she had a whole bunch of vuln stacks on them before getting insta downed. I play a lot of PvP and I have only been insta downed from full health (21.5K) in one match repeatedly since patch, and that was by a Guard, not a Mes.

+1

I faced this morning two mesmers in WvW with shatter lockdown builds, and I could survive 6 of their intents of bursting me.
If you know how to deal with bursts with your profession, mesmers are not such more difficult to deal with.

FFXIV Heavensward got dx11 because it has also been launched for consoles. If they stayed with dx9, pc version would have looked been the limitation platform, while being the most powerful.

CCP added dx11 but it’s exactly the same as dx9, no new features and no performance improvement. They have not even implemented Tessellation and Physx, and more than half people is running the game in dx9.

Don’t fool yourself.
This thread has gone out of length because now we have an official statement saying a newer API wouldn’t solve the performance. So dx11/12 would only bring new graphic options, which people doesn’t care that much.
That also explains why anet has so little interest in upgrading to a newer API.

And seriously, if you only care about pve and small scale fights, and you say the performance is really bad, then the problem is with your pc, not the game when an intel hd4400 can run the game easily at minimum 1080p.

Where did I say the performance is really bad? I just said it doesn’t match what I get in other titles. The apologists go out of their way like no other to read what they want to read it seems.

What is your pc specs? Because it sounds you have a weak one, and you sub-estimate the performance demanding of gw2, which is one of the highest of all mmo.

PD: Just because a game has more detailed graphics doesn’t mean it needs more power.

Nah, Cabal 2 doesn’t interest me in the least, but Black Desert, Blade & Soul, Kingdom Under Fire 2, Skyforge, Bless, Lost Ark, and whatever else may show up. There are just a lot of more visually pleasing, better optimized titles coming out. I’m not trying to claim that they’re perfect, but to pretend like GW2 is going to continue holding its own performance-wise when it’s not even holding its own currently is lying to yourself.

LOOL because people care more about performance and graphics than content. All those games are just clones of other asian mmos with a bit better graphics, aka boring as hell. If you’re so pleased to take old, dull and repetitive mechanics because you cannot stand gw2 graphics and performance (which aren’t as bad as you feel), then leave…

Also, some of these games still have performance issues like Blade&Soul or Black Desert, and gw2 is quite more demanding than the rest games, full of instanced small not-crowded maps.

Power-Condi Mesmer build

Have to say all those fights didn’t prove the build is good.
In a lot of fights you’re outnumbering enemies and all of the enemies were bad as hell:
- 3 guys taking a camp and nearly got rekt by npcs.
- 2 guys downed and couldn’t kill a mesmer with just 1000 health.
- Guard that did nothing when focused.
- Another guard that burned all the skills, still got at 50% with the heal used while doing 0 damage to you, and running to the wall to see if it can enter the tower and save his kitten
- A mesmer with a weird lockdown build spamming randomly the interrupts (1 out of 4 succeed) and only being able to apply you 4 stacks of confusion in the whole fight. Not even had the idea to use scepter block.
- None of them were taking condi cleansing and didn’t pay attention to what they had, so merely 4-5 stacks of confusion were enough to rekt them.

Hardware Temps

Ansau.7326

Fps limiter only decreases temperatures when the hardware is rendering the game at several times more framerate than what you limit. Limiting at 30fps when you’re running the game at 40-50 doesn’t do much, because the hardware still needs to work at minimum of 70% which produces pretty much the same heat since it’s running at max speed and voltage to do that work.

Btw, beyond 30fps discussion is dull. It has been proved tons of times that more framerate is better. Another thing is if you are ok with a certain level, but that’s only a self-imposed limitation not a physic limit.
Some might not care about +30fps, while others cannot stand below 60fps.

Looking at some reviews of that Zotac model, even being an aftermarket model the cooler is quite bad. Reviews have the gpu at around 70ºC at full, while other models from Gigabyte or MSI have way lower temps.

No tank, No healer, No trinity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ansau.7326

At launch, I think the devs underestimated how much some players like going full defense or support, thought that Guardian and water Eles would float their boat, and said in all interviews “We know that you hate LF1M healer/tank so we threw those roles out of the window. Enjoy!”

That’s what most people misunderstood what devs initially had in mind. What they did is to change the limited roles of tank/healer to a more wide roles of control/support. But they didn’t eliminate them, just now healing/tanking were not a dedicated role, but a part of a bigger role.
This are the definitions of the changes:

Heal: Don’t belittle the SUPPORT role by calling it heal. Healing is the least dynamic kind of support there is. It is reactive instead of proactive. Healing is for when you are already losing. In Guild Wars 2 we prefer that you support your allies before they take a beating. Sure, there are some healing spells in Guild Wars 2, but they make up a small portion of the support lines that are spread throughout the professions. Other kinds of support include buffs, active defense, and cross-profession combinations.

Tank: This is where Guild Wars 2 makes the biggest break from the traditional MMO setup. Tanking is the most rudimentary form of the most important combat fundamental, CONTROL. We wanted to build upon what we think makes control such an important part of dynamic combat. Control is the only thing versatile enough to get away from the rock-paper-scissors gameplay of other MMOs.

The new changes will bring new options for all those pigeonholed minded people, but they will still be all inefficient, because the combat of gw2 is enough complex to make healing alone less effective than all rounded support, and full tank useless, unless you make them game breaking.
