I would like the “Sell Junk” button to have options, so when you click it you can sell all the gray items and others of your choice. Make it like a drop down with the different item categories. For example, if you check gray, blue and green, when you click Sell Junk, all the items in those categories get sold to the merchant.

What bothers me is that, for armors that expensive, why are they rare instead of exotic?

I think that those little buffs would hurt. In GW1 we had similar buffs, like the lightbringer title, for example, that caused exclusion for people who didn’t want to farm for those titles. Because of that exclusion, I couldn’t find a party to fight Mallyx.

Just think about trying to find a party for Ascalonian Catacombs, but everybody is asking only for people with the Ghost Vanquisher title.

If this is ever implemented, I would prefer the same approach as the OP, and grant rewards like rare items, materiales or titles only for showing off.

Mystic Clover Recipe for T6 mats

Apolyon.6937

I heard from a guildie that the clover recipe can now be used to create T6 mats in a profitable way. I’ve searched the wiki and it says that the 1 clover recipe can return from 1 to 5 T6 mats, does this mean that the 10 clover recipe can return from 10 to 50 materials?

I’ve been saving skill points to craft the anomaly, but I may give this a shot.

Zergs vs Blobs

in WvW

Posted by: Apolyon.6937

Apolyon.6937

I may be wrong, but I think that there is already a definition for Zerg and Blob… While both have lots of people, Zergs are not fully organized, and can be just a group of people following a commander; Blob’s on the other side are groups of people that move at the same time in very little space, taking advantage of the game mechanics for limitations like the one for 5 targets for AoE attacks.

So if you see 50 people running to your gates, and some of them are using catapults, others attacking the walls, and others building rams… that’s a Zerg.

If you see 50 people all together in the same spot, running back and forth always like a small ball… that’s a Blob.

Or that’s what I thought…

@Invictus & @Neural Actually, now that the OP edited his message it makes more sense. When I wrote my answer it was not that clear what he was asking. Thanks for your non-generic answers…

Back to the topic. Yes, the magic find counter doesn’t work properly with items that doesn’t provide a fixed magic find value, like sigils, or other conditional bonuses (like additional magic find if you have a boon).

Remember that magic find does only trigger when you kill a foe, it doesn’t work with harvesting, or chests, or dailies, or dragons.

If you want to put your magic find to good use, go and farm events with a large number of mobs, the more you kill, the more you will notice it.

No problems at all, damage is a bit low, but you can survive without major issues. Also, if you find a group of newbies, you can offer guidance, and that’s more important that your level.

A proposed change to MF to benifit all.

I’m still going with the “It’s skill that determines a players worth, not their gear”…

I don’t care what stats others use, as long as they are not dead on the floor. Take this as an example… volcano fractal, final boss. What impact has magic find in the ability of a guardian to put a wall of reflection between the shaman and the players? None…

What if this same guardian was running berserker gear? Would that be better or worst?

I do agree with you that MF could be a team bonus… if you are playing alone, MF is only for you, and if you are playing in a party, MF is split for all the party members. That may be a good solution without breaking the game.

So I need to be constantly changing between attunements? Also I do stay mobile, constantly moving. Rarely do I stand still.

Yes, that’s an important part of the elementalist mechanics. After learning to use the attunements, you will be able to use them not only for damage/control/support, but also for creating your own combo effects…

For example, you can cast a water area of effect with healing, that at the same time is a combo field, and then use a blast combo finisher inside this area to create an additional area healing effect. Different combo fields and combo finishers will have different effects.

You can identify combo fields because they have a small puzzle like animation on the border. The skills description also mention if a skill is a combo field or combo finisher.

Apolyon.6937

Try this, do not use fire attunement. Switch to earth for crippling and blinding, water for healing, and air for mobility.

Depending on your choice on weapons you will have different options. For example, if you are using a staff, you can reflect projectiles and use some area crippling with earth, stun enemies and run faster with aire, and you have massive heal and condition cleansing with water.

Remember that you must move all the time, do not stand in front of the enemy looking how they wipe the floor with you. Run around them, looking for their backs, and if they get too close to you, use your dodge to avoid attacks and keep attacking at a safe distance. Just don’t stop moving, and keep changing your attunements as required.

4) New PvP modes. Multiple team arenas, run relics, protect npcs… bring back Heroe’s Ascent.
5) GvG. This is the thing I miss the most from GW1. Add GvG’s with Wv3 mechanics and you will have the perfect game. This would also mean that we would get Guild Halls back.

The most enjoying tasks were the WvW part, I also got all the karma in WvW, love it; map completion (though I rushed it in the end, so I will try to complete it again but paying more attention to the little details); and mastering Ascalon and Twilight Arbour for those tokens and Onyx cores.

Last night we made two parties and went to CoF Path 1 to see who could finish it faster… lots of fun… but my party lost

We may go back to WvW now that culling may be improved.

The only things I don’t find fun is getting a precursor weapon, and capture the base PvP.

You don’t need to tank/heal/dps… you just need to learn the mechanics and to dodge the attacks that can kill you. You have different sets of weapons, so use it to get into combat or out of combat as needed.

If you have all your skills available and the mobs finished their attacks, just jump in with your greatsword and hundredblade them to dead…. once the mobs are ready to attack, jump off and shoot them some headshots with your rifle from a safer distance, while you take cover. Use some banners for improving the party toughness and there you go.

Dodge is your best friend in a Dungeon!

Eventually, if you and your team spend enough time, you will be able to faceroll any dungeon with full dps builds… but you have to learn how to do it first.

How do you spot bots?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Apolyon.6937

Typical behaviours I’ve seen:

Teleporting to nodes: They appear from thin air, start collecting a node, and disappear again.
Farming bots: They are usually rangers or guardians. They usually have a movement pattern, from point A to point B and back; or a big circle. They never dodge attacks.
Farming trains: Usually lots of rangers and/or guardians. They move following the exact same path one after another, turning in the same point and attacking the first mob in sight and continuing their path even if there are more mobs nearby. They can be also find camping some spots where mobs respawn fast.

They are harder to find now, I guess the most hardcore ones have been banned already.

If the Karka event got a chest with precursors, why not the living story? The way is being implemented makes it more fair for everybody. Just add a final event with an account bound chest that can only be opened once, but make this event repeat during a week or a month, so everybody has a chance to get it.

I couldn’t play during the karka event, so I missed the best chest in the game so far. I’d to love to have a chance to a chest like that.

On the other side, I would also like to play the Karka event just to see how it was, even if there are no chest now.

It tooks us (5 people) 6 months to complete 1 legendary. I started playing in the betas, but didn’t start working on the legendary until October, and people have been helping me since then, with money, materials and some farming sessions.

Wow, thinking that other ppl finished 4 legendaries all on their own in that time, you either slacked pretty hard or farming for money means vendoring everything for you guys.
Srsly, why so long?

I mentioned it in my post. We didn’t really started making money until the loot patch was applied (for comparison, in the first 6 months I made about 190-200 gold, and this month alone I already made 120 gold). Also, most of us are casual players. Some people only play a few hours on weekends.

Also, we don’t play the TP. Nobody enjoys that in my guild or friends, we “only” play the game, as in doing events, dungeons, story quests, puzzles, exploring maps, helping guildies, fractals and leveling alters. I tried once… I even made a spreadsheet in google docs with some coding for updating stuff from gw2spidy, but never really used it.

But hey, I still have some friends working on their own legendaries and would love some advice, so if you don’t mind sharing your knowledge on vendoring things, they would really appreciate that

Apolyon.6937

Well, I finally completed my Twilight yesterday… now is payback time… I owe lots of gold and mats to my guildies and friends…

A few comments on the entire process:

It tooks us (5 people) 6 months to complete 1 legendary. I started playing in the betas, but didn’t start working on the legendary until October, and people have been helping me since then, with money, materials and some farming sessions.

We have been farming in Orr before the patch, but it sucked, so we stopped it. I remember some people claiming to make three or four times more money than the five of us together (with full magic find builds).

We went back to Orr after the patch, and during last week alone I made about 30 gold. Grenth bless the loot patch!!! I guess that T6 materials price will increase a lot since there are more people making loads of money now.

We also made some runs of CoF path 1. And a lot of Fractals lvl 10 (rings, rings everywhere!). And a few times we also tried farming Grawl in Frostgorge Sound and Sparks in the door of the Arah dungeon. I also noticed that there are still many bots in Frostgorge Sound (all reported, yay!).

The precursor thing… I really think that this process is entirely flawed. I got Dawn in less than 20 tries in the MF, I traded it for Dusk. I was more excited when I got the precursor than when I got the legendary… I was all like “OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG” and screaming and jumping like a teenage girl >.< While I was extremely lucky and didn’t have to spend much money, I also considered quitting (from the legendary, not from the game) a few times before getting the precursor, since gambling is the thing that I hate the most. I would be happy if the Mystic Forge was removed from the game and replaced with something that required some effort.

I was monitoring the BLTC to find out the best times to sell Dawn and buy Dusk, and I found that approximately something between 5 and 7 of each are traded every day. This is a personal estimation made by observing the BLTC by just one week… so handle with care I think that their price is totally unfair, since you can only get them if you are a lucker… you do nothing, get a precursor from some chest or some random try at the MF… and there you go… 600 gold… And now that is easier to make money, their price will probably increase even more.

I think that current system for making legendaries has a very negative impact in the game economy, because everything is driven by the legendaries, even if you don’t want one, you are still doomed to suffer from price spikes for anything related to a legendary (lodestones, T6 mats, ectos). So for example if you want to make a rune or a sigil with onyx lodestones, you have to pay a ridiculous amount of money because they are used in the most popular legendary.

And finally, a few suggestions for those who want to start their journey on building a legendary.

If you already have a precursor, it is just a matter of time, so patience will be your best friend here.

If you don’t have a precursor, try to focus on mystic clovers and ectos first. Once you have those two things, it will be easier to make money. If you want to try your luck with the mystic forge, go always for the greatsword precursors, they are the most expensive ones, so you will be able to buy your precursor and get some spare coins. And in general, it is better to farm for money and buy materials, instead of farming the mats directly.
