Block them, report them. That’s pretty much all you can do. I know it’s annoying that the anonymity of the internet let’s people get away of these things, but that can’t be helped with how the internet works.

You should tell her to filter chat on map/guild/party only. Then block whoever whispers her if they are being scrubs. If I see scrubs like that in pvp I’ll pwn them for ya.

In the rare case of a 500-500 score, personal score decides the winner. How would you replace what decides the winner?

I agree though personal score has little meaning and should explained either at part of the tutorial PvP area or some how through Hot-join.

Until personal score is completely irrelevant we have nothing to decide the outcome of a 500-500 match at the moment.

Yeah all those 500-500 matches. Forgot all about those…

Just call it a draw then and give both sides win bonus?

We can just make it so whoever has the most kills wins.

It’s useful for bunker builds. Not anything else from what I can think of (but maybe you can theorycraft for it sometime!).

Weapon mobility options:
– GS 3 or GS 5
– Sword 2
– Hammer F1

Else:
- Trait for Warrior Sprint
- Signet of Rage

Any more advice is hard to give when you don’t provide your build (Like Trait allocations, weapon sets, amulet, sigil, runes)!

@Solstice.1097 yes, i’ve been growing into same idea as well. including “shield master” trait. i’m torn between “burst mastery” and “sharpened axes”, but with offhand axe gone latter is diminished.

about runes it’s just i’m worried if i’m slowed down, the axe becomes unreliable against all non-melee classes. but i’ll try.

@ArcTheFallen thx for 100b advise buddy. of all, i thought of “leg specialist” the most, but its just 1 sec immob, right? will that allow 3.5sec 100b at best only partially?

I think Solstice’s focus on stunning for axe only (aka Shield #4) would help you in landing eviscerate. Having block can easily help you advance too let alone deaggro when you need to. In addition, zerk stance gives you 10s of condi freedom so hopefully you can time that to land at least 1 eviscerate (which should be pretty much all you need for your build). Then you can take advantage of 1s immob too on Axe #3 if you trait Leg Specialist.

(Okay this has been something I’ve been wondering but I can’t test until this weekend since I’m away, does Cleansing Ire clear on end cast or start cast? If start cast, you wouldn’t need to worry about cripple unless you had a lot of condis on you in which it’s pretty hard to land anything with anyone.)

1s Immob for me is good enough to land a few hits against people with 100b. It’s better than not having any utility or wasting a utility slot. I agree with Solstice in that 100b should be mostly used for cleaving—it can also be good for node pressure (literally can stand on point and 100b and ppl will get off the point lol), and using it to make melee players back off. There’s also the golden opportunity of seeing your teammates immob or cc and using it too.

static discharge is not op. it’s far from op. in fact it’s not even that good of a build. i am unsure why when newbies ask for power builds people flock to recommend SD. and they don’t even recommend the good variant of SD builds. they recommend rifle SD with tool kit as the only kit lol. godkitten it stop.

as for why people rage at you, i can think of 2 scenarios. people on your team rage at you because you are running an underwhelming build, or people on the other team rage at you because they are not the greatest of players and sd’s burst is fairly high so you kill them rather quickly.

OH shield instead of axe I think is a better choice because:

A) the stun makes it much easier to land burst
B) more survivable with shield stance
C) frees up a utility slot since you don’t need throw bolas since you have stun

You’re very fast already with GS and signet of fury so you can go a different rune – I suggest the OP rune of strength for a nice big DPS boost overall. Also if you’re putting 30 points in the last tree with zerker ammy and mainhand axe, you should use burst mastery. Using 33% less adrenaline makes up for not getting the extra adrenaline on axe crit, plus you get a damage boost on burst.

If you wanted a physical skill instead of the dolyak signet I added, I’d suggest bull’s charge instead of throw bolas, or even stomp or kick. Immobilize is nice, but hard CC is better.

@Solstice Yeah this is a nice balance.

@gesho I can understand if you want to keep that Axe OH for #yolospin2win but shield helps give you more sustain (will be more useful against better players). Rune of strength will greatly increase the might duration you have which you get from weapon swap, signet of rage, GS crits, sigil of battle so it’s extremely beneficial for you.

Also depending on whether you roam or tend to stay in the same area, I’d switch out signet recharge for warrior sprint.

Looks like it has good dps and good sustain.

Only concerns:

- Rune choice (25% vs 33% isn’t much of a diff, I would try strength runes or pirate or something else that gives something else other than switfness)
- Sigil of energy seems random unless you always will need that extra dodge roll on GS. I’d go for hydromancy, fire, air, etc.
- Lack of stability may be an issue and your only stun break is endure pain which is a long cd.

- runes – very true. but i got sold on -50% cripple on centaur.
- yeah, energy sigil is sort of a default fallback, i should change it, you are right.
- instead of bolas i had balanced stance. and i missed few guardian stomps without it. it’s just i can’t get over 100b waste. but bolas don’t fix it either. probably time to let it go, stability’s better.

Yeah the options to land 100b goes as follows (iirc):

- Bolas (pathing makes them hard to use though but the immob lasts a good time if you land it, although keep in mind stun is a lot harder to shake off than cleansing condis)
- Bull’s Rush (typical pre-setup move and also good for emergency mobility, but such a loss if it misses)
- Hammer F1 (Stun -> Switch to 100b)
- Mace F1 (Stun -> Switch to 100b)
- Longbow #5 (Pin Down -> Switch to 100b)

There are a few others like Mace OH I think but that’s what I see used most often.

On the cripple duration—you may have a worse cripple experience than me, but I feel like as long as you have cleansing ire, or dogged march, it’s almost negligible. Even if you don’t have those traits, waiting it out isn’t bad too. I rarely see myself crippled for 4s+. 4 seconds vs 2 seconds for 3 not so good rune buffs doesn’t seem worth it to me. I’d rather wait 2 more seconds and have more power or something. Just my opinion :S

Also you won’t use active heal that often so you don’t even get half of the 6th bonus

It’d be more helpful to say I am using X build and cannot beat Y build engi.

But generally, get used to spotting their defensive cooldowns, and save your major bursts for after they use most of them up.

Ways they mitigate damage:
Traits
- Projection Injection – Gain protection when cc’d
- Automated Response – Reduce condi duration by 50% at 33% health
- ___________(forgot name) – Gain around 100 health per second when any kit is equipped

Weapon Skills
- ToolKit #4 – Block for 2s
- Shield #5 – Reflects projectiles (can’t move though) (can be pressed again for knockback)
- Shield #4 – Blocks projectiles; stuns anyone who does melee damage (but then block ends immediately

Then some other things to keep up with is if you are blinded (Pistol #3, Bomb #4) or not and etc. But yeah, more details help

Lol the bird is way over the top. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t scale with your character either (as in it’s independent of what stats you have), but even if it does, it’s base damage/attack speed is way too high. A lot of celestial/cleric eles running it to own people because of lack of dps.

I say just make the attack speed much lower.

How are Leaderboard Rankings Determined?

Percent means you are better than #% of the players who’ve played 10+ games in spvp minus top 1000.

Ranking is determined by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system. Basically you have a hidden rating that gets updated each game you play and that is what determines your LB rank.

Also there is decay.

Don’t know math for either.

I’d just find a good necro and practice against him/ask tips. You’ll find out their weak points once you can immediately identify their builds. From my experience, they have a weakness against any kind of cc.

I’m not trolling.
PvP is about point capture and sometime it does not require to kill players to achieve this and that’s perfectly fine.

It promotes passive play to much. You are better off tanking at your own points than trying to capture enemy or kill enemy to prevent them from capture. That is wrong.

You feel that tanking your own points and backcapping an opponent’s point when they’re not there is “passive play”? Why?

Because you just sit at a point and do nothing. The builds that pop up as a result of how PvP is are what most would consider lame and boring.

Stalling a point gives you so much, while trying to get it back from you gives almost nothing in comparison.

I’ve fought many good bunkers who are skillfully able to mitigate my damage. That is the very opposite of “doing nothing”. If you could explain what you mean by “doing nothing”, it would be helpful.

This is not about skill. If you killed a bunker chances are you also lost the game. Thats the point.

And if you don’t kill a bunker, you lose the game. Your point being? Two DPS classes can easily take out any bunker all things and skill being equal. Especially true after the engi’s AR nerf.

A skilless bunker will not last. A skillful bunker will last. A poor DPS will not kill a bunker. A good DPS can (depends on the build of course. Not all DPS builds are the same and neither are all bunkers. There’s a bit of rock paper scissors going on, but so what?)

You don’t even really need to kill the bunker. Just push them off point (easy with the right build in any map other than foefire mid).

My point being is that you end up with lose lose situation. Isn’t that obvious?

Bunkers get HUGE benefit from doing what they’re doing while the enemy gains minimal reward for spending a massive amount of time trying to kill them. Since 2-3 people are needed to kill a bunker semi-fast it means that bunker’s team can capture other points more easily.

Basically: If they don’t kill bunker, they lose. If they kill bunker, they also lose.

There is no rock paper scissors going on; it’s just rock.

Another problem is that the PvP here is not intuitive at all. A new player will have no idea how important these points are and what to do to capture them because there is no tutorial to teach them. This makes PvP really frustrating because you will get people who have no idea how to play with or against the meta.

Ye bunkers just give so much benefit it is ridiculous. I would make another suggestion:
1, Make kills worth 15 points each
2, When people cap a point give them an NPC which must be killed before the other team can cap that point. This stops bunkers running to a point and capping it.

It’s more constructive to layout builds and their imbalanced status than just say —- “bunkers specs are ridiculous”. That doesn’t help anybody learn anything or know what to balance. It’s already been known that decap engis, warriors, spirit rangers were an issue because they had a bunker spec that either could do good dps and/or had way too many knockbacks compared to other classes which conquest mode does favor. Just list pros and cons in the same manner for the build you notice to be over the top.

You are being too general here. Pure bunker specs can definitely stay alive, but they can’t kill. Any good glass canon class can run around a point stalling it as much as the bunker can when 1v1 with him. Really depends on what class/build you are talking about at this point.

killing is important because if you don’t kill anyone then you will eventually be outnumbered and die and lose the point. killing enemies prevents outnumbered situations. outnumbered situations lose points. therefore killing prevents losing points.

Eventually. But in reality you get 2 capped and then they will just bunker a node forever. By the time you kill someone another has respawned and is back. This can continue for 4-5 minutes before you eventually win the fight and by that time it is 300-100. The other team will have 40 points per player because all they have done is delay you all game. Hard to stomp vs bunker teams because they can all res. Hard to focus anyone. If you want to kill them you probably need 5 people. If you do this then you lose the other two points and the bunker team repeats the process.

So this game is a miserable experience where the way to win is to play specs which do no damage but survive (some do both like ranger/warrior/thief). Bunker specs take way less skill and are generally more forgiving than dps specs. Yet bunker specs are inherently rewarded by the game mode and the scoring system. It is boring and it is why (imo) the most talented pvpers stick to WvW and not PvP

Lol, you can keep your opinion to yourself. There’s no point in stating something that cannot be proven. The two game types are uncomparable. Good in wvw pvp <> spvp pvp.

First off, you shouldn’t be getting top score if you are just capping. Most ppl with top score are the ones who kill most of the enemies and/or backcap everything. For you to constantly backcap everything means your enemy team is bad.

Second, you say you can just play bunker and win, but try it, try running a full bunker team in teamq and see how it fairs. The cost of being a bunker is mobility and dps. You can stand around the point all day but if the team is anywhere decent, they should be able to coordinate outnumbered fights due to bunkers having this tendency to sit on a point.

Third, if it takes 3 people to take a bunker down, Those 3 people need to learn how to not spam skills and time things. Any good player should be able to kill a bunker 1v1 but it may take longer than normal, but a 2v1 should not last more than a regular 1v1 fight. Plus you shouldn’t be 2v1ing a bunker. One person is sufficient to keep the person busy unless the point is capped, then you both you should be going elsewhere to fight not where a bunker is on a capped point.

Fourth, no man’s land is fine to fight on if you can keep track of everyone’s locations. Sometimes taking far allows you to spawn camp that one guy your team just killed. If your fight doesn’t cost you a cap point aka your teammates are dealing with everyone else why not since it’ll prevent the person you are fighting against to reach their team/cap point (but never let people decap you while doing this, awareness is crucial).

I don’t know why they show PvE levels in hotjoin, at first I thought it was rank, but it definitely is the PvE level. I don’t know why that even matters. Very random.

These requests don’t mean anything, there are more people that Allie spoke to who disagree. Who those people are has never been confirmed, but she spoke to A LOT of them.

Soloq would be much better if it were consistent with the current unofficial standards of competitive gameplay. No need to throw such a random map into rotations along with spirit watch to make us be their test dummies. People shouldn’t be soloqing with the intent of casual gameplay; soloq should be meant for people who want to compete and play on balanced maps. Skyhammer should be for hotjoin only where you play around and test builds n’ stuff.

The only changes that are noticable to me are the double sigils on two-h weapons and the ability to equip the same type of sigil with independent cds. So now someone can equip sigil of air/fire on the same weapon set and do even more damage.

Yeah it’s intended. There’s basically a huge culture shock with the merging of the pve and pvp character rules. They are one in the same now so you can’t wear certain armor pieces without being a certain level. Although this does NOT affect your pvp stats at all, it does hinder you from dressing your character fully.

I don’t think they thought this was ideal, but the amount of work to have exceptions in pvp after the merging was probably a lot of work to do a small change.

It comes out today. Not sure when. Basically when you have to download a lot of files later today, you’ll know. I don’t know how many tracks there are, but there are regular ones? and there are dungeon tracks. Dungeon tracks rotate (per week?), but if you want access to them all the time, then you have to complete story mode of the dungeon track you want.

You can get them directly from the pvp reward tracks. Pretty sure there is no more pvp crafting once patch hits. You can also craft/buy/find skins in pve though and have access to them in pvp though. All skins are now applied via transmutation charges though the wardrobe system.

Down state is fine for me. I just hate the rally system. 1 person dying shouldn’t miraculously revive 4 downed players. When you rally you already have slight invulnerability—and having all your work diminish due to 1 person’s death is pretty stupid. It’d be more challenging to have 1 person get credit for the rally and then everyone else has to either rally from another person or get ressed. This allow the other team to still finish off other opponents.

Yeah, no change to rank reward chests. Currently rank reward chests should give you PvE stuff. Everyone being upscaled will get them too.

Dungeon Tracks

I was wondering if the Dungeon Tracks will be giving Dungeon Tokens. During the LiveStreams they only mentioned that you could get weapon and armor from the said Tracks.

One way to find out for sure But as far as I know they won’t. It just seems like skins/mats/tomes of knowledge (so the items directly). Dungeon tokens will always be a reward for dungeons only, otherwise there would be no point to running dungeons :X Dungeons tokens are for skins anyways, so we just basically just skip the purchasing part.

Who wants to party up tomorrow and finish all the story modes?

I will, but only cause you got all the shiny skins to illuminate the way through all these modes I’ve never done before.

Tournament Of Legends: Signups and Dates

I am not in this tournament and I pvp mostly and I will say this is as fair as it can be right now. I’m sure Blu/Anet will take this into account for the next big tournament and implement qualifiers. It’s the first time a tournament has gotten so much interest so it’s whatever if they weren’t really as prepared, quit nit-picking all these political statements. Blu is keeping it as real as it gets not making false promises everywhere.

The whole point of tournaments is to give people a chance to compete, and give viewers good games to watch. And the people who have been participating in the tournaments that have been held and doing well in them deserve their reserved spots. Otherwise you are telling me that just because there are PvE items at stake here, it’s okay for anyone in pve/wvw/shy pvpers to just show up and possibly rng take a spot in this tournament for this one time and probably never play again.

It’s a competition. At least some of the competitive players who have been playing for the sake of competition should have a guranteed entry given the lack of qualifiers. No matter what, the quality of this competition should be considered first. Not many (if any) are going to watch a high school team’s basketball tournament over the NBA. And it isn’t anyone’s fault but your own that you didn’t compete in these unofficial tournaments to show Anet or anyone that you are actually good. There are plenty of other games that have done well with seed rankings based on both unofficial and official tournaments (sponsored vs nonsponsered) such as Super Smash, Street Fighter, etc.

And this tournament is open to anyone. But it has a limit of 56 people. Having 8 reserved spots does not make it open to anyone. No one needs to be in leaderboards to sign up and take one of the 56 spots. Think of it this way, it was supposed to be 16, but they expanded it to 56 (allowing more players to enter) then added 8 teams.

If you want to rage more, just send an email to Anet to have qualifiers next time which they probably will. And take a chill pill too.

Yeah, it would have been better to give +rank points x every tournament game you won/played to better represent better players imo. Hopefully the leaderboard finishers are much better or whatever is coming later is more epic.
