My prediction for next patch nerf, devourer venom is now 1s immo per charge.

Think about it, it could result in yet another potential s/p nerf on top of “fixing” the immo spam, they won’t be able to resist the tentation.

Better yet, thieves can only stealth when no one is around them in a 180 radius.

In a perfect world here is how it works. The devs, at least one or two, play spvp a good bit. They don’t have to be pro’s and play 40 hours a week but they have to be playing enough to have a solid grasp of what is going on. Then, if they aren’t kidding themselves, its easy to go through the feedback on the boards and find the good stuff because it will echo there internal thoughts or it should again if they aren’t kidding themselves. They also should be looking at robust internal data to help them make decisions besides there own experiences and player feedback. To me if you see that a class has spiked from like 10% of the match rosters to 25%+ thats a red flag. They have access to tons of data like that.

That is true, ideally they should have systems that tell them which traits/builds are being used and what team comps/professions are becoming more common in queued matches, etc. Maybe they don’t have such a tool yet and/or a guy/algorithm that can analyze the data that well.

I wish devs could give some #realtalk about frustrations about the current meta if they had any. Not sure if it’s a taboo for their corporate world to express negative truth.

But honestly, no one has seen any devs in matches as of late? I guess they could be hiding on non-Anet accounts.

Like, I have a full-time job 8am-5pm but I feel like I play more spvp than any of the devs and it’s their game. It’s like letting the a high school organization host the NBA even though they have no idea how to play at a competitive level. I don’t mind them ignoring every single freaking suggestion thrown at them minus one or two that somehow made it through—but it would really make me feel better if I knew at least one of the devs there really understood how to play this game competitively and watching competitive tournaments only doesn’t count. You’d be surprised out there on how many users for all sorts of applications and technologies know more about what they use than the creators.

Might be OP, but I think it’d be cool of Merciful Intervention had a knockback + heal and it was ground targeted. The other suggestions are okay if it’s PvE changes—pvp doesn’t need any shout buffs.

If i remember right, someone from anet said they wouldn’t split too much stuff because they don’t want us feeling like we’re playing totally different classes at sPvP, WvW and PvE. To some extent i kind of agree… but then i think about necros at PvE, pretty sad stuff.

They really should go for a full skill split with tpvp – that’ll let them create a balanced and stable “e-sport” environment AND let them inject some fun into WvW/PvE with more frequent and balance cavalier changes.

I suspect there’s some technical reason for them not doing this already. ( perhaps simply a matter of expense for testing )

I believe they have the capability to split pvp/pve skills as seen with save yourselves and other stuff that differs between the realms. The reason why a lot of them are similiar is because they don’t have the resources to revamp everything or they are really taking their time making sure stuff doesn’t get broken.

I don’t think extra stun time was the issue—pretty sure it was the accessibility of the stun and the massive amount of passive healing they can attain even on a zerk build. What is your team comp atm?

The stun time was an issue, a really big one, particularly because is was rounding up all the spammables into needlessly long durations (this was true on mesmers too). The overall affect on Skull Crack is less but it hits kitten the low-fliers that were spammed. You can’t just chain them over and onto themselves because of the sigil anymore.

I’ll have to see in in play (and warriors will probably still be a problem with Healing Sig unless you brought a Mesmer to laugh at them) but I like the changes to Guardians allowing them to create condition “punishing” fields that should/could help punish wanton spam of condis on a node.

S/D is still rather strong but its less boons which is good.
S/P got kicked in the face… >.>

Yeah I agree, I believe it was an issue but not “the” issue. The risk&reward for spamming f1 is still imbalanced. I mean, it’s a good start, but warriors need a bigger nerf than that, and that nerf also rolled over to s/p which is a face palm because they don’t do regression testing.

I’m busy ensuring there are no game-breaking bugs.

Honestly, it’s best to not post at all. Actions speak more than words, and let’s just say the pvp actions that have taken place haven’t done much to improve the stability of the game. So just keep up with your programming and make sure to send a mass email when we have a real pvp in this game.

This isn’t exactly fair – if devs never post in PvP forums, players complain PvP is the redheaded stepchild and Anet doesn’t care about it. When Dev’s take the time to post, you tell them to get back to work. I’m not happy with the patch, but it’s not this person’s fault specifically.

Fair enough, my bad on that part. Just getting impatient with being able to play competitive without having to resort to fotm builds.

The patch did a lot. Helped solve a Warrior issue and helped balance s/d thief somewhat; evades are still broken, but they do less boon strip which is a bonus.

As far as classes being broken, I literally see nothing that stands out. Anyone who is QQing about things being unreasonably broken is just mad that their spec can’t beat it. Mesmers aren’t broken, yet they destroy most warrior builds.

- Decent dps with buffs/consistent symbol pressure

Cons
- Heavy burst can kill you if you aren’t paying attention because survivability relies heavily on dodging and activating utilities ahead of time
- Only 1 stun break
- Cannot burst

Although griefing pve masters would be fun, I think this would hurt more then help.

I’m also for any way to make the pve masters pay for using our pvp lobby as their personal warp zone.

Honestly I agree—I would love to pick on pvers or play a fun game of gate defense as they run towards the asura gate.

I’d like to see dueling implemented in HotM, but I don’t see any reason to just have it be a giant cluster-kitten free for all. Just add in the ability to challenge others to duels.

Yeah, that’s why I mentioned having non-instanced arenas similar to what you see in the Pavilion. Otherwise, even if you implement duels, malicious players would just clutter your screen or do random stuff to interrupt/bother you.

Do this so we can kill PvErs who like to trespass on our zone to take a shortcut to LA.

Joking aside, I think it’d be a lot more cohesive in getting easy practice in without having to get a Custom Arena and/or join a hotjoin. It could be an option where you can turn it on or off or we can have a queue’d arena like what you see in the Pavilion.

It would be much easier than finding a dueling server and finding people to duel against and it’d bring some liveliness to HoTM. Right now it has very little purpose other than housing pvpers who can pvp from anywhere in Tyria now via the pvp window or train against npcs/dummies which can only do so much for you.

2nd random idea: Make it so you have to win 100 tournaments or get a Champion Title in any of the professions to use the LA Asura Gate in HoTM. It’s an evil but probably effective way to get more tournament participation for a bit.

I think a lot of people still suffer from the delusion that gw1 was esports.
Gw1 was esports like Jai alai is a mainstream sport.

Truth is there’s more nostalgia then merit, but most people who played gw1 will always say it’s pvp system was better.

Gw1 PvP was superior in everyway. I don’t know if you ever played Gw1, but as an x GW1 top player I can tell you that Gw1 was the best PvP I’ve ever experienced in an MMO. I still know a lot of people that still play Gw1 just because of the PvP. I don’t think you ever played Gw1, because you wouldn’t be saying that.

i feel like everyone that like guild wars 1 PvP was someone a top player on this forum. And supposedly being a top player in a previous game is suppose to give some credence to their statement, which ultimately doesn’t.

It gives more credit to someone who has played at a high caliber and who obviously would have given GW2 an equal shot as GW1 more credit than persay a random PvEr that has no clue about GW1 high-end mechanics/play but all of a sudden says GW2 is the best thing ever.

Wish I could have seen in sooner, but the game just gets worse and worse. My apologies for ever defending it Motoko—you were right back in the early threads when I used to defend this joke of a pvp blindly.

I agree with you but imo it is already to late, many pvpers have left and i doubt that even 20% of them will come back.
As for me, im taking yet another brake from the game (i never took so many brakes in any other game) and for me it is the last chance.
I play for the fun and this game only provides frustration, I’m better of playing something else (even smartphone games -_-’).

I dont think that Rangers are defending Spirits Rangers..Buts its complicated, its not just a nerf and here you go..You have to have an alternative solution, and believe me if there was a build as effective as the spirit Ranger out there, nobody would play Spirit Ranger..
If spirit Rangers are getting nerfed Rangers will be underpowered.

The ideal situation will be for Rangers to have the option of Spirit Ranger and keep other builds in line.The Spirits are monopolizing and thats what hurts everyone..Not the build itself

But then you have to worry about a power creep if we want to make other ranger builds viable (and I’ve seen some pretty good BM builds still). I don’t think what people want is to kill the class, but tone it down a bit more. Maybe the tab target fix will be the small toning we need? Who knows. But at the moment it’s definitely past the threshold of negligibly imbalanced. Honestly, I love playing my guard, but if he ever had a build that was complained about from numerous accounts with valid arguments I’d rather he have no builds that are viable than 1 that’s OP. It’s called honor not pride.

Don’t blame Spirit Ranger’s that you can’t beat them, there are so many build’s and classes destroying Spirit Ranger’s. It’s your fault you need to learn your class better and understand how Spirit Ranger better.

Also the worst type of Spirit Ranger is one that Spam’s, unlike most of you who think it’s easy to play. If you spam your costing your team, its about being smart.

Do you even understand how a Spirit work’s, you clearly have no idea at all. There are so many problem’s with running Spirit’s don’t blame Spirit Ranger’s for you trying to 1v1 someone when you don’t understand how and if your having problem’s with them in the team fight cause of there elite, then your team and you need to learn how to play. They take a few seconds to take down once up, super easy to interrupt the res skill as well.

Learn to play.

Of course there are counters to everything, but there’s a serious issue when tpvp teams consist heavily of certain builds which include: some condi necro build, spirit ranger, and stun warrior. Oh yea—a guard too, but at least that class has to sacrifice so much dps for defense unlike the other classes who think having both sustain and sustained dps is totally ok. If I can see 1/10 teams not have a typical build, then sure, it’s a l2p issue but people will always choose the build with the most output.

Or we can name this game to Spirit Wars 2 and we can see who’s the best with the spirit ranger since that’s what it’s coming down to.

You can say what you like, but you have posted life times worth of hate toward’s the ranger, so no matter’s what your always going to find and make something up in your head to try and justify your excuses on the forum’s. Rather then understanding how a class works you would rather complain about it, and learn how to play.

Don’t think once you have even tried to explain something more detail about Spirit’s, bet you never new a Spirit has a sling effect, so when ranger casts his spirit’s active skill he must be standing still or there is high chance the spirit will fling and then casts the the skill missing everything.

Yes I agree that I do write a lot of hate on the mechanics of rangers. However, I do actually try these builds and also try to overcome them using a variety of non-meta builds. I know how this class works, and to save me the trouble of having to go into detail, this class is passive and annoying—even more so with spirits.

And I never said the spirit ranger can’t be played at a skilled level. It’s an easy class to play but also has high potential, so for those players who go above and beyond and master the timing and the placements it makes it even more frustrating to have to deal with.

I think your understanding of a spirit ranger is below average if you really think this build is balanced. And don’t go telling me the newbies who pick up spirit rangers to give an edge for their team don’t know any better and just pick it up because they don’t want to figure out better builds. I’m pretty sure it’s not that hard to see that they have an edge compared to other support roles in a team comp.

Just like it’s not hard to see that metaknight is a imbalanced character in Super Smash. Just like it’s not hard to see that Sentinel was an imbalanced character in MvC3 in the beginning before being patched.
Just like it’s not hard that Akuma has an edge over a majority of other characters in the SF roster. Except Capcom did it right because you still see other characters being chosen because the amount of advantage playing Akuma gives you is negligible.

The amount of ignorance in some people is amazing to say the least.

Don’t blame Spirit Ranger’s that you can’t beat them, there are so many build’s and classes destroying Spirit Ranger’s. It’s your fault you need to learn your class better and understand how Spirit Ranger better.

Also the worst type of Spirit Ranger is one that Spam’s, unlike most of you who think it’s easy to play. If you spam your costing your team, its about being smart.

I do believe that you simply ignored my entire post and reposted what you claimed previously and missed the entire point of the video, AGAIN.

The worst part is it’s like you never watched the video. You have no idea what killed me. It wasn’t the spirits. The storm spirit finished me off. It was the pet, the 3 hits and the spirit. I died to exactly what is said I died to because I rewatched the kittening video like a sane human being would instead of just kittening arguing over unsupported evidence like you are.

You don’t understand one of the most basic concepts in the game (that dodging makes you move at a pace faster than walking while crippled) and point out me using ether renewal and my dodges as a mistake. Using both WAS a mistake and I should have just popped ether. You TOTALLY missed the context of the video and the fact that the ranger came out of nowhere and the reasonign why I “wasted” my dodges.

You claim that I should have “blinded him” while ignoring that he got THREE kittenING HITS off on me. THREE.

You insinuate that by chaing CCing the ele the entire kittening time I am wasting “defensive” cooldowns. You ignore that he got THREE kittenING HITS OFF ON me. !!!!!!!THREE kittenING HITS!!!!!

You claim that I must “use air dodge” when the ENTIRE kittenING POINT was to CC the ranger to death because he didn’t have shared anguish on and ate my earthquake.

He killed you in 3-6 hits because you’re glassy. That’s to be expected. As for what ELEorAFK said, I think he made several good points that you should take heed to.

So far, all I’m seeing is an DPS obsessed elementalist who is used to spiking everyone down in 3 seconds, but failed to with a ranger — so he came here to complain. My apologies, I may be over generalizing somewhat, but that’s all I see.

I wish I could be be a tanky canon like the Ranger. They don’t dish out as much as a full GC, but you can’t outsustain them while they can destroy glass canon specs like it’s nothing (they essentially become a GC to the GC opposer while being tanky) and do exteremely well against tanky specs because of their ability to outdps them. Oh, and most of it’s passive. Goodness, why would anyone even bother defending the state of this class. I like winning too, but not like this.

The only way a Ranger can be tanky and a GC at the same time is if he/she times their evades perfectly. Otherwise, what you’re speaking of doesn’t exist.

It’s true, I wish the Ranger wasn’t so passive. I wish everything about the profession would be fixed. But what I saw here in this video wasn’t necessarily something to get mad at. The ele wasn’t thinking, and reacted to the Ranger in negative ways that got him killed.

Fair enough, although I think the cd on the evades are more forgivable than they should be imo. The better players you face, the better you have to time them, but even then the other side has to put forth a lot of effort catching you off guard let alone targetting you in the jungle. But it’s good to finally hear someone acknowledge the flaws for once. I am actually a fan of the ranger class but it’s so hard to play when I have no control over anything really (which makes things easier but it’s so frustrating that I cant play it).
