Engineer has more or less the worst condition removal in the complete game. The possibilities are very limited for us to remove conditions and we can only remove one or 2 condtions at one time.
Without this trait we die in seconds against condition.

Immunity is too OP though. It’s like having constant endure pain for direct damage specs.

Even if you can’t do the fake-out stomp on a mesmer, it’s not that hard to tell which is which by dpsing it and see whether it’s health depltion is high or low. If it it loses a lot of health compared to what you normally see, it’s a fake go for the other one. If it dies, even better.

I don’t think it’s reading too much into GW2. It’s actually pretty complicated if you go into details about what you can do. It’s just way too fast paced where you’ll miss those details and it almost seems as if it doesn’t matter, but it can matter.

I’ve played this game since some of the first closed betas, mostly focusing on pvp. I have never seen anyone go for builds that could actually fulfill these roles. People just go with whatever is the easiest with highest reward.
I’m not saying that you can’t create a build to fulfill these roles, I’m simply saying that it’s definitely not needed. There is no reason to create these roles, since one or two more basic and general roles/builds can accomplish everything that is needed in the current meta.

I agree that at the practical use level, it’s not going to be that useful. In fact, we would get similar conclusions what we experience day to day if we listed what roles certain meta builds play at the moment and how effectively they play it. But conceptually this can be very supplemental and it’d help categorize and possible standardized the way we approach builds and team comps in the future—at least with this game type. It’s a good initiative nonetheless and I don’t think the point was to theorycraft but data mine what already exists and create something useful for players.

Helping newer players with guides (like Sensotix) and creating descriptions of roles is indeed a great thought, but the game is simply not in a state where that is really necessary. I’ve always wanted to try making guides and/or VoD-commentating, but the game never reached a competitive state, where I believed that to be a demand. In fact, all these roles might even lead to people theorycrafting builds to fulfill these roles, which we all know is not going to help them (worst case scenario).
Believe me, I would wish the game had a depth where all these roles were needed. The fact that a specific player on the team is focusing on interrupting stomps is music to my ears.
I’m just trying to be realistic. Let’s not make GW2 something it’s not. That might have been the cause of the game we’re seeing today, focusing too much on E-Sports rather than basic enjoyable gameplay.
And just for good manners – I did not read your post as condescending at all, but that might have been because I didn’t really get the point of the “complicated” argument. In other words, I didn’t assume you were talking about my ability to read the game.

Haha np. I understand where you are coming from but I guess it’s hard to find the fine line between helping others and trying to enjoy the game as much as possible but at the same time not making it seem that everything is okay—because it isn’t. Honestly I’m just supporting my buddy Ice (or Hrarr is what I call him) with his interest in doing this R&D work. xD

You’re kidding yourself if you think, that people create (and use) builds, specifically to “Stomp Prevent” or “Body Cleave”. A standard condition Necro with marks can do both, in every single situation imaginable.

And please stop being so kitten condescending. You’re basically saying; “If you had a higher skill-level, like me, you’d understand all these roles”. I happen to know KrisHQ, and we’ve both played high tier tournament PvP from the very beginning of the game.

So What's the Counter to Stun Warrior Meta?

Its not the stun, animations with hammer are SO obvious..Its the healing signet that needs nerf, they wont, they prefer putting in every class a huge amount of poison than nerfing what they buffed

It’s not any 1 thing – it’s a complicated interaction with Healing Signet, Cleansing Ire and Adrenal health at the center, especially when combined with Berserkers stance, which is an automatic slot in every single build at this point.

There are other peripheral issues that might need looking into, but its hard to judge until Anet addresses just how forgiving and effective HS and 20 points in Defense makes a warrior compared to every other class.

Yeah, I agree. The combo of having stances that can negate condis and direct damage—then having stuns—then having a block and riposte/counters makes Adrenal Health and Healing Signet much more potent because that’s a lot of leighway for you to gain health without having any health loss to pressure you.

Ironically, stun warriors were made to counter the condi meta but that’s also their weakness. They do stand a great chance against the condi meta, but the fact is if you spam more condis on them after their berzerker stance is down, they’ll die. So we just need to buff the condi meta now. Then we’ll be ok—wait a minute…

I can’t believe anyone is still trying phantasm builds in spvp. I’ve always thought that they died months ago. In spvp (and especially tpvp) I usually run some sort of condition build and trait for condition removal. I just don’t think phantasms cut it anymore.

Phantasm is still a really strong 1v1 build. In team fights, it can do really well confusing your opponents and if placed well, it can actually do damage.

Really? What are people running now? I honestly haven’t seen a phantasm build in spvp/tpvp for a while. I’ve seen condition builds, shatter builds, and occasionally a boon share build, but not phantasm. I’ve always thought that was because phantasm is no longer viable in the meta.

Oh, sorry, I never meant it’s viable in the meta aka organized team tpvp. But you’ll see them time to time in soloq and hotjoin or 1v1 tournies.

In the merged HotM, there should also be a multi-room dueling arena where two players can enter each room and start a duel while everyone else hanging around the HotM can sit up top and watch. I’m pretty sure there would be A LOT more people hanging out, form teams, etc. It would be a great community builder.

Agreed, I tried promoting it earlier. I think a big QOL patch would give HOTM some life. Heck, tie the living story with heart of the mists.

The reality about healing signet is that many other classes have had this same effect for a long time, through Regeneration. All the engineers and elementalists who have 100% regeneration uptime are achieving the same sustain effect within their own class. Thieves have a version of this through their healing and condition removal from stealth. Same goes with guardians and their constant AoE healing.

The concept of healing signet’s sustain is nothing new. It’s new to warriors, but it has been done already. Why the shock and awe about warriors having this mechanic now is silly.

Stop your non-sense..you compare regeneration to the warrior healing signet?…Are you mad?
I should have like 2000 pts in healing power to match the passive healing of the signet.

Healing signet = 400 HP for sec
Regeneration = 130 +0.125 * Healing Power.

Same error that Arc made, you are comparing healing directly without taking other class mechanics into account. There are dozens of other things to consider such as: Evades, blinds, blocks, invuln, protection, stealth, clones, the list goes on. Warrior healing is the way it is because it lacks most of these other mechanics in any significant capacity.

I take into account class mechanics trust me :P. I am not saying Warrior is the only one that needs to be toned down. It’s a great thing that warriors can stand against the condi meta. But again, it’s a power creep and it’s not healthy. I still have issues with spirit rangers, necros and engis but mostly just passive play in general.

And might I add, healing signet is not used by all warriors. It works well with tanky warriors, but high burst damage builds still require a burst healing skill like adrenaline surge. The fact that so many warriors are using healing signet now reflects the fact that so many people are choosing to build tanky and sacrificing burst damage, which is again, not a new concept. Many other classes have swayed into this tanky, lower damage spectrum. EU has been doing this for a long time in the competitive scene.

The issue is that warriors shouldn’t be a class that should have high regen give their hp pool and toughness—even their dps for being tanky is more effective than guardians. I am not saying they are the best at everything, but they don’t give up as much as other classes when trying to play roles and that’s bothersome to me at least.

Nice cherry picking. Because some foolish things are said about warriors doesn’t mean they don’t need to be to nerfed. My main problem with Warriors are too much damage with too much survivability. The stuns bother me as well but its not necessarily the idea that Warriors have them just that I believe access to so much hard CC is bad for the game. So explain to me reasonably why Warriors should be able to do so much damage and yet be fairly hard to kill at the same time. Conditions are fairly weak against them now and Healing Signet is a tad too good. Also, they are almost like the old elementalist in terms of escapability. If they want to run away most of the time they can.

You pretty much just became a part of the exaggeration/misinformation crowd. These “cherry picked” quotes came from threads that had a good number of views/responses, that’s why I picked them.

They have decent survivability, but they can’t mid bunker as well as a Guardian (those shamans banner regen Warriors crumble under any good team because they lack protection, blocks, and invulnerability that Guardians have) they also have some good damage against stunned foes, but they can’t spike nearly as well as a Thief or even Ele without giving up a significant amount of survivability.

Also, the ability to run away in TPvP isn’t necessarily the best thing to do in a team fight. You know why top players prefer Hambow over Mace/GS, because with bow you can still apply pressure while retreating. If you just peel away you just left your team high and dry and while you may live that means nothing if the rest of your team dies.

But it was a problem with eles..so why is it ok for warriors to have even more mobility?

Ele’s mobility didn’t leave any real way for you to counter it because they could use Mist Form and then use Ride the Lightning and there was little you could do about it. With Warrior just landing a simple cripple halves their mobility, hit them with an immobilize during a Rush and there’s not much they can do about it.

There were also many other factors with the old Ele that made them have little to no counter, current Warrior meta has plenty.

Was there a time where you could use RTL in msitform? I just recall only being able to use utilities while in mistform. RTL itself was just an entity that didn’t take into account chill and/or cripple so that’s why it was hard to counter. All they needed was to add that really and it’d be good but they just hated ele for some reason and nerfed RTL to the ground and mistform.

Wow my f1 skill now goes on full cd if I miss! Was I just imagining the 3-4 sec cd before?

Doesn’t matter, 10sec is still too short for a 2s aoe stun. Basically, the faster you can land your ccs and bait out their stun breaks is the faster you win. So run in and spam it.

At the moment warriors can just equip their passive regen signet and be unable to be killed. When a warrior is 4v1 and not dropping below 50% health and able to kill the other 4 players, it simply makes PVP unfun. Just had two games where it was impossible to kill any of the opposing team because it was all passive regen warriors.

Something is wrong with your team then if you’re losing 4v1.

The fact that a warrior can’t die 4v1 doesn’t surprise me in this case. The fact that the warrior killed 4 player is where something seems out of the norm even with OP warriors unless it’s an exaggeration.

So you’re saying it’s acceptable for one Warrior to REQUIRE a team of 5 to take them down? As it stands I only play the PVP in this game for the 4 Achievement Points a day as it is otherwise insufferable.

Oh sorry, that’s the team comp you normally see in tpvp, I wasn’t saying you need to do that in order to win but was just adding on to your concern. You can toss in another warrior usually but I was more or less agreeing with you. Warriors are way over the top at the moment in various aspects—healing signet being one of them. They have become a necessity in competitive play because their assets are just too much to ignore.

It’s to my understanding that skills with no cast time shouldn’t interrupt your animations (such as stomping) but these two skills do that, and have no cast time listed.

Honestly, the premise behind this topic is pretty offensive and ignorant. It’s fine to not like the direction of balance taken, but to say that 90% of the player base should be ignored is pretentious and also downright wrong. It’s perfectly reasonable to aim for good game balance at ALL skill levels, not just top tier. If there are specs that are oppressively strong at a low skill level (a noob can easily pick it up and crush other noobs with it), then that should be noted and addressed by the devs simply because that spec will discourage new pvpers from learning the game. A perfect example is the old 100b spec before the quickness nerf. That build was a huge problem for new players and extremely easy to play, so it was turning off lots of people from pvp, even though it wasn’t considered great in top tier play.

Everyone should give their own feedback, and then the devs can decide which suggestions are good and which are bad, keeping in mind all skill levels, not just balance at the top 1% (which is still important and has its own requirements). Also, the whole thing is kinda silly in that the gist of the thread is, “Yo devs, you need to listen more to skilled guys like me! Not going to make any suggestions here, though, but I will at some point in the future in a video. But when I do, listen! Other guys listen to me all the time, like <name bomb> because I’m really really good, I promise! Did I mention I’m good? No suggestions though.”

We should have an in-game pointer that controls which direction we are aiming. Add this to the ranger and they’ll actually require precision.

Imagine a pve player as a cow. Now imagine a pvp players as another cow. Pve player’s cowbreasts are full of milk. So they get jugged by arenanet. We, pvp players, have empty cowbreasts, so anet doesnt jugg on our nips lol

Not only do PvE cows produce more milk and are plentiful. PvP Cows produce very little if any, but require their milk to be pasturize via an extensive and expensive method, not only that but there is no gurantee that the milk will actually sell.

yeah but at some points its harder to get more milf from pve and so why not start to use the other meadow with the pvp-cows that are still there?
