If the game wasn’t conquest, waiting for the spirits to die off would be more viable. As long as it is conquest, waiting for the spirits to die is just a waste of time—similar to fighting against a necro going into plague form. The point is that no class should be able to do so much while being disabled so to speak.

^ exactly, thats what im saying, but in reality, 80% of the ppl ,if not more ,that have massive problems against spirit rangers, dont understand how they work, or dont understand how to properly counterplay them. ofc with most classes u cant fight a spiritranger on a node , standing in all of his spirits, while trying to dps him, and hoping he dies. because the ranger can potentially make u eat 6 spirit activations.

solution: u kill the spirits and whats left of the ranger is literally beatable by any stupid kitten bad build.

lets take phantasm mesmers as an example, first uve ever met in gw2 -> well, u prolly didnt see that dmg coming. but after u realized, only his phantasms hurt alot -> u avoid them and wow, gz uve just beaten AI.

ofc am not gonna deny that spirit ranger is a much more effective build when it comes to tpvp, but at the end of the day, spirit ranger mechanic is as logic and simple as phantasm mesmer mechanic. so if u still want to fight them on a node, u still have no kitten clue how much dodges they have left, u still kill their spirits while not dodging them, u waste ur CC into shared anguish, then im very sorry for u but then u deserve to die.

and pls dont tryhard to misunderstand me, spirit rangers are too easy to play, for beeing that effective, so it needs more tweaks.

but kitten stop saying that spirit ranger vs ele is like godzilla vs quaggan, because its not.

valar ~~ come at me and i kitten humiliate ur whole wvw gvg guild with 1 phoenix combo so even ur great grandchilds will talk about the great valar.

People are saying it’s imbalanced, not necessarily unbeatable, but strong enough to make the amount of effort you have to put to win almost become stressful. I wouldn’t mind so much if the other guy was just as stressed as me, but pretty sure he’s sipping a pina colada on the other side of the screen while I kill his pets.

Lolz. By your logic sure if you never make a mistake you might not lose. I know you are a pro that never makes a mistake and if we combed through footage of one of your 1 v 1 fights we would see that every decision you make out of 100 is perfect but for the rest of us, even the best, we occassionally make mistakes. Get my point yet? Spirit Rangers are too strong for how easy they are to play. Don’t peddle your l2play nonsense here.

While the first part of your post is true(the being a pro part), the same could be said for not dodging/breaking an ele churning earth/air/fire combo then going on the fourms and saying “lewl op ele i no dodge en i die xDDDDDD”

But an ele isn’t a ranger. There’s complaining about obviously overpowered classes and then actual l2p issues ( which should only be used when it’s actually a balanced matchup ). L2P does not mean, you need to do 200% on your class to beat another class, and if you don’t, you suck and you really need to try harder. Rangers are an issue and warriors are right behind them.

Also, if you really get hit by churning earth and complain about the ele—that’s pretty obvious what the issue is at hand here. Comparing combos, rangers have spirit actives which can be timed well and lots of evasive weapon skills that can more or less be spammed. Eles do not have a viable weapon set (attunement)—they need to be constantly switching attunements depending on the situation and it becomes predictable what they are going to do because of that. Also, they have to be at close range for the most part but don’t have the survivability to last while on the other hand a ranger has AIs, Medium Base Armor, Protection, Regen, Water fields, and Evasion. Eles have at most two sources of invulnerabilities which are on high cd and one takes up an entire utility slot. Their heal is mediocre at best (why doesn’t this class have a passive heal like warrior?) Warriors can heal per second by doing nothing but eles have to use spells in order to gain heals? Sometimes I just don’t understand what’s going on in Anet’s heads.

hi Myrmidian, i never said ostrich is bad in the first place. u sure might think im a random, truth is i have 6k ele games and over 3k hours invested only in this class, so i guess im qualified enough to commentate what he did in his video. every half decent ele can tell u that the reason he died so quickly were missplays. thats no offense towards ostricheggs, i know he is playing alot of diffrent classes and builds, so its no biggie to fail on ele.
but im kinda bored of the “eleissobadwheniplayitigetoneshotbyeverythinginstantlyhype”.
u can even see on his reaction in the video, that he wasnt clear about whats happening if he will fireburst all spirits without dodging them after they die. and he got oneshot.

so pls cut the crap, this video doesnt say anything about the current state of elementalists nor spirit ranger, it just shows a ele dieing hard to a lack of knowledge.

(sure i still fully agree with the ele is in a bad spot stuff, but its not as bad as everyone of yo little trashtalk hype guys say)

The point is that something’s wrong when other classes can burst just as effectively as burst classes while being super tanky and barely putting effort. Now is not the time to have this ele pride; I’m sure someone out there can beat people who have knives with their bare hands—but I’m not going to sit back and deny that the guy with the knife doesn’t have a great advantage.

PvP is a fail because Anet dropped Skill Wars 2 to and made it into Build Wars 2 and now it’s become a sinking hole of copycats and wannabes who play fotm builds and are competent to play them well but just by playing that build alone they are at a huge advantage so it doesn’t even mean anything except they know how how to maximize their victories. Not sure why people even care about winning now when you need certain classes on your team to basically ensure your victory. Eff the meta.

Stop with the QQ, learn the mechanics, then come again and say one profession is OP.

Asking a theif to not use stealth is like asking a mesmer to not user clones.

Is a mechanic that makes unique a profession, if you cant handle a simple thief in SPVP trust me, you should play something less stressing . . . maybe the sims?

Pretty sure Warrior is not a L2P issue. You either get a kiting build or you die using anything else. I didn’t sign up to learn to play a hard counter—I want a majority of my classes to have a viable fight against a warrior without me having to try 10x as hard to kill them.

Yeah I thought about that, or maybe boon stealing? Sometimes there is so much going on its hard to tell what’s happening if you know what I mean. Stability can be stolen or removed right?

Edit: One other thing, how does corrupt boon affect long duration boons? It seemed to me that I was feared, but then my stability returned after the fear.

I’m guessing when I was interrupted during a stomp (not fear) it was a Mesmer or thief boon strip, I can’t think of anything else.

It can be from a multiple sources that strip you of stability. For all we know you could have simply not notice that the boon wore off or someone else stripped your boon.

I not 100% sure if stability can be stripped, but I think it can be.

I can’t tell if you’re joking about this, but a Shaman’s amulet staff ele can be a pretty strong far point assaulter (provided it hasn’t been caped yet). With buffs coming to the staff skills (which might include a cast-time reduction for Eruption), I can see how this will be viable in the future.

With the lack of toughness and only Burning (from Fire 3 and EA roll) and Bleeding (1 stack from EA roll, but a nice 6 from Earth 2, as if anyone got hit by that), their damage tanks hard if anyone brings a cleanse, which almost everyone has in this meta. All of their skills are way too telegraphed and a good portion of them should be sped up with their delays (Ice Spike, Eruption), as well as some key skills need to be fixed (GUST).

Secondly, an Ele Staff bunker does the least amount of damage compared to any other bunker, Guardian included. Warriors will passively outheal your damage without even trying. Good luck trying to kill a PU mesmer. Spirit Ranger? Please.

Are you kidding me? this class is very good. Its a hard class to play but once you learn it half way decently you are extremely powerful. Im not calling for a nerf but i am so confused why ele’s are always whining. S/D and D/D ele are extremely strong.

Yeah. No. The majority of their burst is extremely telegraphed (unlike most classes), involves only burning as a condition (unlike most classes), unless you somehow get hit by CE, is EXTREMELY squishy (unlike most classes), and doesn’t have a reliable escape.

An immobilized GC Elementalist is the squishest thing in the game.

An immobilized GC elementalists is a dead elementalist.

So why not use Cleansing burst to GTFO?

The person’s example didn’t run Cleansing Burst. Also, it doesn’t remove all conditions so it might not remove immobile (this is happened so many times to me) AND they removed the stun break factor on it, so not many people take it anymore.

It’s so hard to stomp these guys and right now it’s less of a problem due to eles being at the bottom of the food chain but it’s still a broken down state skill. There is /one/ way you can stomp Mist Form. If you start Stomp right as they cast, then blink to where they are, it works. I’m not really sure what they can change about mist form.

They just need to increase the cast time for the downed state mistform (not the other one), so the timing window is on par with a mesmer. Then it becomes an equal mind-game. At the moment, I know what you mentioned is possible but the timing of it is very unforgiving. Sure I can master it maybe but I can already tell when eles ever get back on top tier play, I’m going to be pretty annoyed that they can stall better than any other class in their down state.

The olny issue i can understand with eles downed state is entering into towers/keeps in wvw, but we are in spvp forums so thats completely different topic

Thief and mesmer can be stomped fairly easily for at least some classes (ones with blink for thief). Mesmers can be stomped via fakeout, or fakeout and blink depending on rng. Thiefs can be stomped with blinks. Eles are the hardest to stomp if you don’t time it that well, given that the mistform is instant (or almost instant) cast it’s hard to fake out a stomp and recast it within the time frame of them leaving mistform.

Warriors need to be nerfed. Take away their stun traits or increase the cd on their f1 stuns (or lower the stun). Decrease healing signet passive heal, increase active heal.

Pets and summons may to be looked at, but we’ll see how the new tab targetting fixes Clutter Wars 2.

Signet of spite needs a higher cd like it was before. Necro DS needs to be toned down a bit—maybe make poison affect life force regeneration; at the moment, nothing can stop a good necro from using DS as a super health buffer against hard hits then regenerating it again for the next burst, give the necro actual siphoning.

Revealed needs to work whenever a thief applies conditions and or attacks someone regardless if they block it or not. All shadow return portals should be destroyable or make inf strike have a cooldown.

Its the only good one because it’s not terribad like the books.

It’s not a “great” elite by any means. It could stand to use a build-specific buff.

Well, if we do want to buff it, I’d focus on lowering the cd mostly. Increasing the invulnerability time would make it unfair to other invulnerability skills such as mist form.

Yeah there’s a vertical boost that will get you on the archs above the breakable glass floors. The right arch will have another vertical boost to get you to a higher level (right relative to looking north). Sometimes I like hiding up there and then banishing people.

None of the repliers have used stealth against a mesmer or really any channeled/AI ability.

And you haven’t played a MM against a stealther.

You lose against thieves on a necro? Otherwise a thief just stealthing around isn’t going to do much.

But yeah I agree with the OP that AIs need to be looked at.

Guardians be like “aw naw u didn’t just praise another guard”. Everyone has their own likes and whatnot and because this is a team game, being the best guard is really subjective as Crapgame has said. If he wants to provide feedback on the Guardian, that’s fine, but using marketing lines such as “top/best/etc” to draw attention is somewhat of a foul play. Good interview though!

sPvP daily can be done very fast.

I hear a lot of people complaining about lack of rewards for sPvP, but isn’t a laurel a reward?

If all you do is PvP, laurel is nothing compared to what other things give you. Every moment spent in the pvp realm is time that could be spent making money in pve. It almost seems as if you have no progression at all in pvp. Rank doesn’t even count because it moves so slow and is highly dependent on your hotjoin farming skills.

No. What makes Guardian’s good bunkers is their access to invulnerability and block in addition to boons like protection. Regen alone isn’t enough to hold out against multiple fores for a long duration. This is especially true when dealing with a lot of focused damage.

Yes. What makes Warriors good bunkers is their access to shield and passive healing and their innate high vitality along with their stances that give them access to all kind of invulnerability (aka receiving no condis or dmg). If necessary they can grab regen with banners and make their passive healing even more potent. By the time a team of 3 can focus fire you down on a warrior, you’ve probably wrecked someone on the opposing team with stuns and or decent sustain. This is especially true when you face good warriors and know anything about the guard’s downfalls.

Warrior utilities apply here too right? Berserker’s stance, endure pain, and healing sig all seem very forgiving to me.

WvW is getting a huge update too. The best thing we ever got was a re-design in hotm, but they took away when dragon bash ended. We can’t have nice things.

Two Handed Weapon Sigils

It’s just an excuse. Depending on their data model, it wouldn’t be hard to just add a relationship table between weapons and sigils. It could be:

Player|Weapon|Type|Skin|Rarity|Sigil|Sigil

Then write a script that changes all player’s 2h weapons to the new table. It may take awhile to propagate fully, but seriously unless they are literally out of server space, it’s called laziness

DPS eles are decent but need a bit more sustain. It’s hard to get much healing without having to dedicate yourself fully into a defensive traitline, but then you miss out on other things. In my opinion, if eles get an instant-heal move that possibly evades/or blocks it would help dps eles a whole bunch. It’s hard to heal while being pressure without being interrupted or dying due to cast time (and give you don’t have dodge => water heal)

What counters the upcoming warrior meta?

Thief counter warriors atm, just kite berserker stance and spam blind, if the war runs the teef prob wont be able to kill them, but it’ll prob be the counter meta backpoint defender

people are saying they will be gettin toned down tho, at least stun durations so they might not be as big or harmful as the spirit ranger/necro meta .

Spamming blind does crap against a warrior with longbow and cleansing ire. Not to mention that thief can barely do enough damage to outpace warrior regen. 9/10 cases the thief will be forced to run.

If you want evidence just look at PAX finals between Car Crash and Sync. Caed playing D/P thief (the thief build with most access to blinds) got messed up everytime when he 1v1 the warrior played by Super.

Yep. I tested out the amount of dps you can do on a regular stun warrior as a d/p thief and it takes a freaking long time to bring him into critical health. In the mean time you have to play a perfect game to avoid all those stuns because being stunned is less forgiving when a warrior does it on you.

The updates exclusive to PvE and PvP are hard to compare. Almost all PvP features require very intensive programmer and server support like solo queue, matchmaking, custom arenas, spectator mode, etc. Living story updates leverage existing technology to advance the story and expand content with new mobs, crafting recipes, dungeons, etc. PvP has few areas expandable by content; the main feature being maps which we release regularly. Balance updates affect all parts of the game and don’t come out for one any faster for one than the other.

Why can’t we have both QoL fixes and balance patches? At least the QoL improvements would make HotM not seem so depressing. QoL fixes shouldn’t even require a good programmer, just a good game designer. The slums of Tyria gg

I personally hate warriors more than necros. But I hate spirit rangers more than warriors. Stun warriors w/ healing signet are pretty imbalanced.

How are they imbalanced? They are strong vs conditions and weak vs anything with a plethora of escapes/protection/stability. Healing Signet is terrible if you keep poison on the warrior, wait until they cleanse it then reapply it again. High burst can also totally nullify it as well, S/D + S/P Thieves do this well. They can micro stun and deal massive damage then steal any sort of stability while teleporting out of any stun. That’s Rock-Paper-Scissors.

Rock paper scissors is an imbalanced game. And I appreciate your post, but warriors have been the answer for awhile against stability lacking condi nukers; but they are just as cheesy with access to 3s stun on 10s cd—really good healing, really tanky, and can dish out a good amount of damage with either condis or extra damage when opponents are stunned. Goodness, I know guard isn’t all that hard to play but at least I have to time everything fairly well to survive. Miss a stun? Let’s just use it again. Gotta heal? Nope, mine’s passive. Give up dps for def? Nope, I can still have a lot of sustain while being super tanky. If banners ever get buffed, they are gonna be worse than spirits because they can’t be destroyed.

Then why do we see so few in high level play? Most of the Warriors you see in SoloQ are new to the class and aren’t good at it yet/aren’t built right. As for hotjoin, nothing there matters.

Define high level play? I see warriors all the time in team queue. Not sure about soloq.

I don’t think he can read aha. But yes, it’d be nice to have more support. Heck make pvp open source, I bet a lot of free lancer programmers can do a better job than Anet’s team atm.
