We miss Maguuma, but this is our 9th week in a row that we are in T3 and it doesn’t look like we are going down. I think we are ahead of IoJ right now and may even replace them as blue server.

You guys come up! It’s not like you haven’t beaten DB before.

2nd and 3rd never both prioritize attacking 1st when their populations start feeling 1st is out of reach. The more the 1st place server pulls ahead, the less likely you are to see both 2nd and 3rd going for 1st. This especially happens during the latter half of the match when there isn’t enough time to catch up so the battle for 2nd becomes the main event. Anet really needs to put into place a system that gives players incentive to always go for 1st.

Go Maguuma!

It’s unfortunate we will not be getting a Maguuma vs. Kaineng fight next week as both are moving up one tier. Mag’s performance is more impressive and it would be great to see Mag end another server’s hopes and dreams.

It would be nice for FA to take back its spot as the 8th highest ranked server. That’s the highest we’ve ever been. This is our 9th week straight in T3 regardless. We actually had a four map queue in one of the TC/FA/YB reset nights. Amazing we are still here despite a lower population. Just shows how dedicated our WvW guilds are.

Weird to see DH and HoD in the same match again. Last time was with us (FA) months ago. From my understanding, that’s when DH’s troubles started. Will be interesting to see how DH will do in this tier. I think they have a chance of winning.

Any score updates?

While you technically don’t have to leave WvW for anything(besides ascended gear), making money is much easier in PvE. That fact compels players to do more PvEing than they’d like to. I’m guessing that will change in the Feb patch?

First people complained that GODS had too large a zerg and we need to split up. Now that we split up, apparently GODS fell apart and isn’t as regular anymore. LOL!

We are actually more active now than before. Same amount of people but doing WvW at more times during the day. We have rules like GODS being the only guild you rep and mandatory call to arms which have helped boost our numbers in WvW.

To make matches more exciting, they really should find a way to incentivize attacking the lead server. They always intended it to happen, but thought it would come naturally. The reality is that players will attempt to maximize score rather than play for first when the lead server is too far ahead. This causes the second and third servers to fight as they are easier opponents and the battle for second takes priority over the battle for first.

^FA won’t have to deal with TC any time soon, lol. BG has over 100k over you and you’re only losing a couple of rating points. You might even gain points if you beat SoR. SBI will start with around 180 points over TC next match so if TC is to lose a lot of points, SBI will have to win by a landslide. The most likely scenario is that they get trapped in the T2 rating bubble and the three of you will fight for many weeks. Funny thing is that the T3 servers will be separated by only 29 points so if TC comes down hard in rating, it might bypass T3 entirely. It won’t come down hard though.

I think DB/EB/YB will be playing each other for a while. Hopefully Maguuma takes care of Kaineng. I’ve seen several of their players post about how they are T3 worthy. The match thread will be amusing to read through if they are stopped early.

T1 is like an abusive GF that JQ and SBI want to hold on to because she is hot. They both know it will not work out in the end and that they should let it go.

No matter how many times she beats the living kitten out of JQ/SBI, they keep crawling back trying to hold on to her. It’s time to let go – it’s not good fit.

It’s time to move on and find a better GF. Maybe T2 or T3?

The problem though is that T1 requires the three strongest servers regardless of how competitive they are against each other. Maybe SBI and BG should switch at this point, but seeing as how they are winning their T2 match by a wide margin, it wouldn’t make sense for SoR or TC to replace JQ.

Hopefully SBI doesn’t come crashing down to T3. We have the closest match with the first and third servers being within 3k of each other. It would be a shame if the rating system kills our fun.

Too early to tell, but I’d feel sorry for DB NA guilds in a T3 situation.

Yesterday, the projected ratings were 15 points apart. I actually got a little worried. But it doesn’t look like it will be happening now. Maybe in a couple more weeks. It would be nice for DB to make it back to T3 where they were before their original NA guilds left them. I would prefer FA be there for a rematch.

DB probably will have a hard time in T3 though. Both IoJ and CD have solid coverage around the clock. FA has gaps, but we compensate for them when our players are on. I don’t think you can succeed in T3 if you have a large chunk of time where your server can’t compete. DB will need to recruit more NA guilds before looking to T3.

I don’t understand why the winning server doesn’t just move up while the loser moves down. That or close free server transfers. As long as those exist, populations aren’t stable enough for the current system to apply rationally.

This is an excellent idea – guarantees fresh looks at every tier every week and looks to eliminate stagnation. Nice, simple, effective.

The problem with this system is that it would match servers from three tiers (weakest of above tier, middle of tier, strongest of below tier). This would end up creating a lot of blowouts. You already have imbalances within tiers. The rating system does need to be adjusted so servers don’t get trapped in a bubble, but the system still needs to attempt to create close matches.

I thought we were getting beat last night, how is CD not red this week? I was told that’s how it works.

While FA did come in 2nd and CD did come in 3rd,FA didn’t gain enough rating to overtake CD. So rankings did not change despite the match result. Tier 4 had an interesting occurance. Maguuma won their match and still went down in ranking.

GODS had a lot of fun in CDBL. I logged out after we took their garrison.

I really hope when they add the rewards system in Feb, they don’t screw it up and have all the PvEers rush to WvW only to play in ways that will get the rewards rather than help the server win.

I shall tell you my story.

Last night was really awesome.

Tonight better be as good.

T8 and T3 are worlds apart. Kaineng may have outgrown T8 and maybe you guys could beat T7 as well, but as you move up the tiers, the servers you face will be a lot stronger. DR may have won in a blowout while in T7, but that tier is in a weird state due to HoD/ET dropping and sending servers up and down. Things haven’t stabilized there and we don’t know yet which servers will be T7 and which will be T8 when it does. They may have faced two servers weaker than Kaineng and FC. In T6, they are winning comfortably, but not in a blowout and I don’t think they will win in T5. Look at BP’s rise up the tiers. Look at their current match. They are getting badly beaten by the weakest T4 server that dropped to T5 for the week. The server beating BP in turn didn’t stand a chance against the T3 servers.

Don’t get overconfident. WvW is an unbalanced game as it relies on population. You can go from destroying one tier to getting crushed in the tier above it. I really doubt you guys would beat DR if you were to have a rematch next week.

My stance now is that I have to see it to believe it. Instead of telling me the Feb update is going to be great, show us what you are working on. If you’re not going to because it is somehow too early, don’t bother trying to hype it up.

Let me be clear. I am not saying YB is weaker than their opponents. I am saying their performance is weaker than what is expected of them. The difference between this week and the last is obviously the third server. DB has an advantage during off peak hours while EB did not have a time period all to themselves. Given a different third server, it makes sense that the match would play out differently. That said, I still expected YB to win by a comfortable margin so the current result is surprising.

Holidays and PVE events seem to hit us pretty big. Yaks players average age I would bet anything skews older than most servers. If you know the guilds that are here that is not surprising. And older people tend to have more responsibilities than those younger, and kids who just see these times as a chance to play even more.

This is a good answer. Holidays isn’t an answer in itself as that should affect all servers. Saying why YB would be hurt more so than other servers makes it more believable. I’ve heard that YB is skewed toward an older crown during the FA/YB/ET match when YB stopped showing up during the week so this answer is consistent with that.

Perhaps yes, or at least more so. Who knows. At the very least, DB has a large Asian population, who are going to be much less affected by the Western holiday period.

Looking at your other statements though, your apparent glee seems to have clouded your memory and reasoning. You claim we are doing worse than DH did against the same opponents, but the last two times DH played DB they lost by ~100K (that’s probably why they are now in a lower tier?). And DH played MAg so long ago that it is completely irrelevant.

The other reasons you gave (fanciful transfers and fair weather players) had to do with YB winning the tier, which the other two servers obviously didn’t do, so comparing YB to them is also irrelevant.

What I find endearing is that you seem to have held onto your disdain for YB for so long. It’s been two weeks now – don’t you think it is time to let it go, especially in this season of goodwill?

It seems you are the one with disdain. If you look back at my message history, you will find that I like both Mag and DB. Seeing them ahead in a match where they should not be winning makes me happy for them. Nowhere in my earlier post did I bash YB. And while I do dislike YB, if you actually read my earlier post, the fact that I don’t like YB is pretty irrelevant. I am genuinely curious as to why you are underperforming. YB now should be stronger than DH at their prime. I am aware they have fallen, but that is not my point. DH at their prime could probably still beat current Mag and current DB or at least do as well as YB is doing now.

Only Yak’s Bend is affected by holidays, huh?

Seeing the Yaks in third while both Mag and DB have taken the lead is really cool. Not as shocking as HoD taking the lead in their match, but pretty close. I really wonder what happened to YB. You guys are performing worse than DH did against the same opponents. What surprises me is that the server that wins their tier usually gets transfers. At the very least, the fairweathers come out to play. YB now should theoretically be a little stronger than the YB of the TC/FA/YB fights. That said, close matches are better. If YB isn’t going to move back up to T3, then it is better that they be more in line with the other T4 servers. Close matches are always the best. It’s a shame that either Mag or most likely DB will be kicked out because of the rating system.

Score update? Any match thread with DB in it requires regular updates.

This has been the most fun reset ever.

Bump before the reset. We will be facing IoJ in the next match. They have been in T2 for a long time and even showed up in T1. This will be a fun challenge.

It got smaller, but it’s too late for IoJ to get a higher rating than TC. There’s a 15 point difference as of the scores posted an hour ago and there are 4 hours left of the match. FA is ahead of YB by 19 points so there won’t be a switch there either. IoJ/CD/FA is a lock now.

As of 10 hours ago, FA and YB have a projected 20 point difference in rating so its still possible we could switch. Personally, I want to see IoJ, but the server may also need to take a breather from T3. Would be fun to have an FA/Mag/DB rematch.

DB’s off peak crew is the biggest obstacle to BP right now. If anything, they should want EB to come down.

Just listened to the whole thing. There were some nice things said like how they will not do 2 week matches and that they are aware we do not like PvE in WvW so they will be hesitant to include more of that in the future.

Overall, the interview was a huge disappointment. They really are out of touch. In the discussion about population, they said their design plan is to tweak the game so that there will be so many players they would have to add new servers. This is such and unrealistic solution to the big problem of server transfers.

Their hint for the Feb patch is that it will address player progression. When asked about actual new content like maps, they say they need to prioritize and that it takes time to make those. It seems they can’t even find the time to make a website for live updates. What exactly are they working on then that’s supposed to be a big deal in Feb?
