League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
(edited by Arcadio.6875)
-You can only queue up with one other person in ranked now.
-Some achievements are required to advance to the next part. Participator is one of them.
Edit: To be clear, there are 11 achievements you must do. One of these achievements is “League Professional” which requires you to do two of the profession achievements. So the profession achievements are not directly part of the 11 and doing more than two professions does not count.

Imagine having to actually develop this. In xpac 4, they’d have to design maps around four set of masteries because someone out their wants to use xpac 2 masteries in xpac 4 maps and another person would rather use xpac 3 masteries. It also means there would be no sense of progression in each expansion. Once you’ve mastered xpac 1 masteries, you don’t need any more. This would be crazy design.
They should do exactly what they are doing now; designing the maps around the features released alongside them.
They got rid of the non-compliant stuff because of the ban.
https://www.deltaconnected.com/arcdps/x64/RESTRICTED-qol/README.txt
Reading through the reddit thread, this guy is ridiculous lol. He’s given a chance by the devs to make his tool compliant and instead he makes compliant and non-compliant versions and calls the latter the Chinese version because Anet didn’t specifically say their rules applied to the Chinese client. But this “Chinese” version worked on NA/EU clients.
Nice. I’ll be able to work on the legendary armor sooner than expected.
Will gaps between seasons be short like this in the future?
In the pvp league tab, Season 7 was moved to the previous section. Season 8 is in the current section and shows the date as August 22 to October 16.
This would be the shortest gap between seasons.
It not a “hardcore grind” to unlock the top tier of the PvP reward track. You don’t get any more tickets or shards for repeating it.
You do get ascended shards for repeating Byzantium. Just not tickets. If you didn’t get more shards on repeat, it would take years to get enough for a set of armor. Unless you plan on playing casually and just finishing Byzantium the first time each season over the course of a few years, you will be repeating Byzantium many times.
I can accept the grind, but it should be better spaced out. You only get 4 seasons a year each being 55 days that you are allowed to work on getting shards and tickets. But during the gap between seasons, no pvping will get you shards or tickets. Either move toward something like the weekly cap raids and wvw have or lessen the gap between seasons so there isn’t as much pressure to do as much farming as you can while seasons are up.
Edit: I think Anet just heard my prayers. The pvp tab is now showing that the next season will start August 22. Shortest gap between seasons yet!

Since this was a misunderstanding, can someone confirm if the feature does work as intended on pvp or wvw armor?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/WvW-and-PvP-Ascended-Armor-Upgrades/first#post6670552
There’s supposed to be rune switching so they’ll fix it….some day.
If you want the armor, I would just keep working on it. Unless you like raiding then you can do that instead. Personally, I’m going to keep working on the pvp one (putting aside that I can’t work on it because there isn’t an active season lol).
You can name your mount in ESO, but it’s hidden in the menu and no one else can see it. So no one can report me for the offensive name.
I don’t mind if they let you name your mount here. It’s a useless feature though. The mount disappears when you’re not on it so it’s not like ranger pets. Other players would not have the opportunity to see the name of the mount.
Anet really needs to look at the time gating for the pvp legendary armor. Since seasons are the only way to get tickets and ascended shards, you have to hardcore grind when there is an active season, but if there isn’t one then you can’t make any progress at all. We’re now waiting for the ability to grind lol. That’s just silly.
Raids have a weekly cap on insights. WvW has a weekly cap on their tickets. We need something similar so we can work on our armor between seasons.
Does it have to be the ardent glorious etc or just any ascended armor, because I got most of my ascended armor though pvp but I ended up changing alot of the stats so now its the original armor, I wouldve never changed them though if I knew we could upgrade them more
For pvp, only the ardent glorious and glorious heroes can be upgraded. The latter is for the top players that win tournaments so 99.99% of players can only hope to get the former. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do now other than grinding out another ardent set or getting the wvw or raid ones.
It doesn’t matter if pvp or wvw has it worse. They are both extreme grinds made worse by time gating. Anet should look at both of them.
As a pvper, I can accept the grind. But give me the opportunity to do it!!! The season ended a few days after they announced pvp was getting legendary armor and a day before it was implemented. This gave no time for anyone to put work into this. I had pvp tickets from partipating in seasons 1-3, but not enough and no ascended shards because that was implemented in season 5. So I came back to the game recently and decided to do some PvE stuff I missed. The announcement made me divert attention back to pvp and I grinded season 7 as much as I could, but that was only a few days. Now I got to wait for maybe 2 months just so I can have the privilege of grinding again lol.
I assume it won’t start again until after PoF hits.
It’s funny. They released a way to turn the pvp ascended armor into legendary armor with today’s patch. But there’s no way to grind for that because the season ended yesterday lol.
^HoT does not come with PoF. Those who don’t have HoT can add it to their purchase of PoF for an additional $20. Also, you can still buy HoT separately from PoF.
As for the topic, there are pros and cons to keeping old masteries relevant in new content. The pro was already stated. The con is that new or returning players will have to deal with an enormous grind in later xpacs. Anet wants you to be able to jump right into the new content. That’s why they give you a free level 80 boost and a set of exotic gear.

Go to the gem store in-game. One of the ads there should say “Two Adventures. One Price.” Click on it. You will have the option to buy HoT alone, PoF alone, or both together. Clicking on one of the three options will bring you to more options which include stuff like deluxe or ultimate. Then picking the one you want will bring up the payment screen.
If you intend to get PoF as well as HoT, you should just get them bundled together which lowers the price of HoT from $30 to $20.
Alternatively, there might be a sale somewhere on the internet for HoT that’s less than $20. Then you can just buy that and redeem the code.
I bought GW1 Complete for $40 a couple of years before GW2’s release. All that content for significantly less than someone who bought GW(Prophecies), Factions, Nightfall, and EotN as they released. But I came at a time when GW1 was already past its prime in terms of popularity. Veteran GW1 players have all these fond memories of their time playing GW1. I still had fun playing what I did until I switched to GW2 because that came out, but I’ll never feel the same nostalgia for GW1. It makes me a little jealous.
Now I’m on the other side when it comes to GW2. Pre-purchased GW2, HoT, and will for PoF at some point before release. No regrets paying the money I did and have no jealousy over someone paying much less or nothing at all (for the base game). The years of memories was well worth it. Experiencing the game as it grew and the excitement for what was to come is something a person who gets a GW2 Complete down the road will not be able to enjoy.
Veterans don’t need “perks” (topic creator has yet to give any example of a perk veterans should get). We paid for the ability to access the game longer. That in itself is a perk.
(edited by Arcadio.6875)
So what is the problem?
Yes, I’m sure most of us expected that the purchase of xpac2 would come with HoT based on how HoT was released and the statement they made. But what reasonable person was expecting PoF to be $30 and still include HoT? Going by HoT’s release, I expected a 50$ expansion that would include HoT.
This is clearly better. $50 would still get you both HoT and PoF. Those who already have the former pay less. Those who don’t have it and don’t want it but still want the new xpac also pay less. Yay!
You were never getting both HoT and PoF for $30.
Instead of $50 for both(regardless of whether you already have HoT or not) which is what many of us were expecting, we are getting PoF for $30 and for those who don’t have HoT, $20 for HoT on top of that if they want.
Sounds like a much better model.
Edit: topic I originally posted in got merged into this one

They said you can glide there but the maps won’t be designed in a way that requires gliding. The maps will focus on mounts instead just like how the HoT maps focused on gliding.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Arcadio.6875
Gliding is one of them. All the masteries that aren’t central tyria masteries are exclusive to HoT. Mounts will be exclusive to PoF even though they can be used in central tyria.
Saw it on stream. The design looks very nice. Not sure about the secondary mechanics. Good thing is that if they are way too strong, the devs can decrease the stat boosts. The map won’t need a complete redesign to fix problems lol.
Since you’d get tomes of knowledge from pvping, you can just make your characters level 10 or more without doing pve.
I don’t think they should do it on the principle that achievements shouldn’t be retroactively created if they can no longer be achieved. Players made decisions throughout the year on whether they wanted to take a season seriously or even skip it. Had they been given the information that there would be a title for getting into legend in all four seasons, they may have made very different decisions on how to spend their time.
A title for getting into legend in x number of seasons would be less objectionable to me since anyone can eventually earn it. Down the road they can introduce more titles for getting into legend more times.

S1 was so bad. Worst meta the game ever had. Confusing pip mechanics. I’ve seen people around here say it had the best matchmaking, but the matchmaking system encouraged players to throw a ton of matches when they were at a safe spot to tank their mmr so they’d have easier matches when they got their pre-made going. There was also the problem of pre-mades grabbing an amber player so they’d have easier matches. Speaking of pre-mades, pug vs pre-made was a bigger problem that season.
Between S2 and S3, S3 was the better one for having a better meta and toning down the high mmr vs low mmr matchmaking.
fine for next year or starting from next season…Bad idea to do something like this retroactive when people might have cared for it.
Yeah I agree. Wouldn’t be fair to retroactively reward something that can no longer be achieved. Speaking for my circle of PVP friends, some of us tried harder in some seasons than others thinking of each season as independent of each other (backpiece aside) but would have tried more in all seasons had we known there would be a title for getting legend in all seasons.
Some people have this idea that a feature should only be earned in game modes where it is needed.
But why? What exactly is the problem if a feature can be earned in a mode where it is automatically unlocked?
There is no problem. Just like there is no problem that you can level characters in PvP even though characters are automatically 80 in PvP. Just like there is no problem that PvP rewards gear usable in PvE/WvW even though PvP doesn’t use that gear system.
Adding an option to earn hero points through PvP reward tracks will make people happy without harming anyone. The methods of earning them through PvE and WvW wouldn’t go away. If you want to earn your hero points through PvE or WvW, you still can! In fact, going through reward tracks over and over for hero points wouldn’t be the fastest way so no one who doesn’t like PvP will feel compelled to use this option.
We also don’t need gear and tomes of knowledge in PvP. But Anet decided we should get them to unify the game modes.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pvp-reward-tracks-and-gear-unification/
A way to get hero points is the next logical step.
Many of us here may primarily be PvPers, but we also play other game modes. A PvEr or WvWer can come to sPvP and not be disadvantaged. They don’t have to worry about levels or gear or elite specs. At worst they might need to unlock an amulet/sigil/rune. But those are unlocked through gold which can be earned outside PvP.
PvPers wanting to get into the other game modes? We have to worry about levels, gear, and unlocking elite specs. But we’re not asking for those things to just be handed to us. We’re fine earning it. Just let us earn it in PvP.
Just because getting the hero points through PvE isn’t too difficult doesn’t mean adding a third option to get them is not a good idea.
There is enough time to get the backpiece. It’s just very unrealistic. The time gate is 60 days of playing 3 matches a day. All seasons so far have been 55 days. This means there is no room to miss days. For the division crossings, I’ve seen people get the backpiece in two seasons by hitting diamond in one and legendary in the other. It doesn’t add up to 10 division crossings, but I think there was a bug that gave you an extra crossing in the achievements. Not sure if they fixed that. If they did then getting legend twice is required.
Going for it now is setting yourself up for disappointment tbh.
You don’t even need to do real PvP to get the glorious or legacy armor sets. There are custom servers where people trade wins. Rewards are capped (in custom arena; unranked and ranked arenas are not capped) at 2 tiers a day and reward tracks have 8 tiers. So 4 days for an armor piece and 24 for a full set. Less actually because you’ll end up getting PvP dailies by doing this and can use the reward potions to move the reward track further.
WvW also has an exclusive armor set as well as a reward track for legacy armor. You can go zerg around edge of the mists to get these.
So there are PvE exclusive armor skins that require doing the PvE content, but the PvP/WvW armor skins can be obtained without having to do real PvP/WvW. Pretty lame, but this means there isn’t much room to complain about these armor sets not being in PvE.
Just give me to option of getting a lifetime subscription.
Good. Make some changes to SW and Capricorn so we can have 7 competitive maps instead of 4.
Gets very frustrating when it feels like 50% of your matches are in Legacy and 40% in Forest. Fine maps, but I don’t mind the others and don’t want to see the same two maps almost all the time.
I think it’s fine having a separate title per season. As long as each title is as cool sounding as the others. Exalted Legend might normally sound decent, but borrowing the word from PvE does take away from it. Should be changed.
Reminds me how the titles you got in the WvW tournaments were Veteran of the Mists, Mist Runner, and Mist Treader. One of these is much better than the other two lol.
People would block bad players to have a higher chance of getting a good team.

Voted yes because I’m a guild leader and I have to keep up with the game. I also will probably get hundreds to thousands of hours of play from the expansion’s content and features unless it’s complete poo. HoT might not be the amazing expansion I was hoping for, but after all the time I spent raiding and using the Rev class and elite specs, I can’t say the $50 was a waste of money.
That said, I really hope the next expansion is much better than this one. A lot of problems have soured the experience for many and the only reason my guild is still playing is because there isn’t another MMO that we’re willing to jump to right now.
They have announced there will be new fractals which is really needed since there are too few of them and we’ve been doing the same ones since fall 2013. Next raid wing will also come out soon. Wish there was a brand new dungeon, but we know that isn’t going to happen now. I much prefer the instanced content in this game over the open world content so I definitely want more instanced. A shame since I bought the game because of how they were marketing dynamic events and it ended up being disappointing.
As for open world, I think the next expansion should add 6 zones. 2 easy 2 medium 2 hard. The easy maps would be like the old ones, the medium ones would have the difficulty of the HoT maps, and the hard ones would be much harder. This way there will be content for open world players of all skill levels.
I don’t think the difficulty of open world and instanced content should be related to each other. Have easy and hard content for both.
For me, it was 2015 after cele ele nerf and before June update.
Most balance and entertaining meta. The only aids spec back then was shoutbow warrior.
But even shoutbow warrior back then was way better than today’s aids.
Yeah I think this was the most balanced meta. All classes were viable to play when queuing and only ranger was not played in tournaments (and only one person on a top team played necro). But despite the lack of ranger and necro in tournaments, power ranger and power necro were frequently cried about on the forums along with the meta build for all the other classes. As annoying as dd ele and shoutbow were to fight in 1v1, they could be killed much more easily in team fights compared to the bunkers of the last meta.
Started really getting into spvp around fall 2014. Meta for warrior was still hambow, but would soon switch to shoutbow. Can’t really speak too much about that meta since I was still learning.
The celestial meta that dominated much of my time in pvp wasn’t really too bad. It may have been annoying to fight d/d eles and shoutbows, but they were nowhere near as bad as today’s bunkers. During this meta, all classes were viable. Sure you didn’t see rangers in tournaments and only one guy played necro, but for most of us queuing up, every class had a place. I really wish pvp today had the balance of this meta.
The meta after the specialization patch but before the expansion was also fine.
Why give a pass to S1? They did test seasons late last year and early this year:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-improvements-to-pvp-and-the-ladder-test-season/
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/test-your-mettle-in-the-second-player-vs-player-ladder-test-season/
This first season is based on those. We hated that system so Anet doubled down on it.
Those test seasons had many of the same problems the current season has. No reason to believe the next season will be much better.

Had a Mesmer on my team go afk for two games in a row.
This is a joke. Because punishing soloQers wasn’t enough, now we have Tankers… and these tankers are going to get into Diamond while people who aren’t exploiting will be stuck in Ruby.
Out of curiosity, how do you get to diamond by tanking losses?
People are tanking soloq and then grouping up and farming easy wins because the matchmaking system thinks they are bad and puts them against bad teams. They will tank at the start of a new tier (pre-ruby) and the start of a new division.
The druid can be both the healer and the tank. In this case, clerics is fine. If you want to have a separate healer and tank, going full clerics forces the tank to spec more into toughness which will lower their dps.
Zealots is probably the way to go. No toughness to mess with the tank and allows you to contribute some dps yourself. If you want to have healing power as the primary stat, magis is an ok alternative to clerics. Instead of having a toughness secondary stat, it has vitality. Our group beat VG with our healer running magis gear.
My group beat VG with 2 zerk revs (1 put on toughness trickets and tanked), 1 zerk guard, and 1 vipers/sinisters necro. Not sure about the pug situation right now since I have a guild that has enough people ready to raid, but I think condi necro is definitely good enough. If pugs don’t let you in with that, either go on zerk rev or go in with a guild.
They should just add the ability to swap sigils/runes in the same way you can swap stats. No need to add any complications to this.
How about the combat boosters?
Despite whatever gripes I may have with this game, I still enjoy it far more than I don’t and there isn’t any other current MMO that I would be as interested in. Now if Anet were to screw up so badly that I couldn’t stand playing anymore, I would probably move over to ESO. I have it and it’s nice. Just isn’t as good.
I am a little worried for the future given a long string of high profile failures in the genre. Those kickstarter MMOs may carve out their own niche and I hope the best for them, but I like the big budget MMOs. My first was EQ1 and it was a mindblowing experience logging into the game for the very first time all those years ago. The big 3D world with many people running around made me feel like I was in another world. I don’t think a smaller MMO would capture that feeling.
There isn’t anything to look forward to besides more GW2 expansions. People are going to hype up the latest Korean MMOs but I can’t even care about those at this point.
Perhaps have the fractal dailies count as regular dailies as well.
I forgot the WvW bonuses existed. Yeah, I think it should just be removed. In return, WvWers should get better rewards (which they deserved anyway).
On a similar topic, combat boosters should be removed from the game entirely. Just swap the ones we already have with enchanted reward boosters.
While I think people should just go unranked, here is an idea I have to fix the hotjoin problem. Matches should give equal rank points and reward track progress for wins and losses. Also, wins and losses shouldn’t be permanently recorded. Then there will be little incentive for match manipulation.
As for new players being too intimidated to play unranked, perhaps they should rename unranked and ranked to casual and rated. I see those terms used on some chess sites. Ranked/rated should always be available even when there is no pvp league running.
