It was data mined and posted on Reddit so it’s not final yet. The data mined numbers do seem to be a bit too much though.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
The money you hand over to them gets you something in return. You pay for the game so you can play it. You pay for gem store stuff for whatever item you specifically bought. Anet is not a charity that you are helping out. They earn the money they get by providing a service.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Because there is a vast difference between an item going on sale and being free. because I shouldn’t have to pay 5 times as much for the same amount of content, period. because if anet is going to make a deal and treat new players special, they should do something special for old players to, who have given so much time and money to this game. because ultimately, this is a product, and whether you choose to see it, we are being undercut
You didn’t give your time to the game like you were doing Anet a favor. You were playing and presumably you were entertained which is a benefit to you. You paid money to be entertained. The exchange has been made.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
You paid to get access to the game at the point you had paid for it. So you’ve had access for the game longer than someone who got it for free yesterday. That isn’t even taking into account that their free access is restricted.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
You pay for access to the game. Price is very much related to that. People pay higher to get in early. Those who don’t feel the price is worth it can come in later. If you get in early but don’t take advantage of your access, that’s your problem. There are many games I could afford but held out on because I realized I wouldn’t have the time to play.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
What is it about this expansion that makes people forget that prices go down over time?
I paid $60 for the game and enjoyed it for 3 years. Someone who downloaded the somewhat restricted free version yesterday got to play it for a day. You pay more earlier and you get to enjoy it for longer. I paid $40 for GW1 Complete and enjoyed it for less time than someone who bought all four releases at their original prices. If you want to pay less for a lot of content, wait. That’s what I do for a lot of games. I got Skyrim Legendary Edition for $30 for example.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Before the expansion was announced, one of the things I knew I would want out of an expansion is a new region to explore. Going by the old maps, that would be 6 maps. If these 4 maps are equivalent or better in size and content to 6 old maps, then I am fine. From what they’ve said and what we’ve seen, these 4 maps may actually be good enough.
I’m not too big on open world pve, but I found DT and SW to be better designed than the maps the game launched with.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Considering all the hate they got when they made the final story mission a 5 man dungeon which has now been changed, I doubt they will make the final story instance a raid.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
So, essentially what you are asking for is a way to have options like “Receive Whispers”:
- From All
- From Friends and Guild Members
- From Friends
- None
This seems like a reasonable feature request.
If Player A is on Player B’s friends list, but Player B isn’t on Player A’s friends list, how does that interaction work out?Would this also extend out to things like mail?
(Please note this does not mean that this will happen, won’t happen, is planned to happen, and or not planned to happen)
I have to agree with everyone that the friends/followers/blocked system in this game is terrible and needs to be changed to a system where friendship is mutual. Blocking should also work both ways. If you block someone, you should not be able to whisper them or see what they are up to in game.
That said, your first question is still answerable under the current system. If Player A sets their settings to only accept whispers from friends and Person A added Person B to their friends list, then Person B can whisper Person A regardless of whether Person B added Person A to their own friends list. Person A’s friends list (not followers list) is what the setting should look at.
Privacy settings should extend to mail.

The elite specs do feel more special compared to core specs. Changes class name, change class mechanics, adds ability to use new weapon and skills. When there are more elite specs in the future, you can only use one in your build. The elite specs are meant to make a bigger difference than core specs. But the big differences aren’t necessarily superior.
In practical usage, they are sidegrades. Theorycrafters are already thinking along the lines of “x elite spec will be useful in y game mode but not z game mode”. Not very different from some core specs. For example, Warrior’s Defense spec is not very useful in PvE, but definitely is in PvP. If you’re playing Warrior in PvE, the other core specs will feel like upgrades over Defense, but when looking at the game as a whole, you wouldn’t say “Strength is an upgrade over Defense”. I think many if not all elite specs will not be meta in all game modes.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
They’ll be doing that when the expansion is out. Merits will be gone and missions will be friendlier toward smaller guilds.

SE AC CoF p1s are probably the fastest 3 with pugs. CM all paths are the fastest with an organized group.

Guild Halls will have an arena for these people.

EU monthly finals just started. Both Lypion and ROM are running shoutbow. Prepare for every warrior you see in queue running it lol.

PvE meta is stale because the encounters are stale. I doubt they are going back to make the old content more interesting, but they have stated that their goal for new content is to be more challenging and make different builds desirable. We’ll see if they accomplish that, but you can’t blame PvP for PvE’s problem here.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
You can only check one player at a time, but this essentially does what you want. I would imagine the developer of this site will update it to include traits when that is out.
Guild leader can just paste everyone’s key into a notepad.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
In last Friday’s POI, Colin got on and said there will be fewer maps, but those maps would be larger with more things to do. He said a player should be able to play on a single map for 8 hours and still not see everything. Of course, I think that is nonsense just like how before GW2 was released they said there would be so many dynamic events that it would be unlikely that players would see the same ones often. Still a little sour over that because I bought the game on their promises about dynamic events and stayed for everything else lol.
If I had to guess, we will get 4 maps with the amount of content as 6-7 of the older maps. So we would still be getting a new region, but it won’t sound impressive to the type of people who want to hear “X new maps Y new dungeons” rather than the quality of what they are releasing.

I bought Gw1 and all campaigns/expansions for a total of 120 euro’s. Now it is offered for less then 40 euro. Did I got ripped off? nope. I played a lot.
Yeah. I bought GW Complete (all three campaigns and the expansion) for $40 in early 2011. Amazing value at that low price, but it was obvious I missed out. Most GW1 players have fond memories of being there as the game grew. The only things released after I got the game was the Winds of Change storyline and some balance patches.
The $60 price when GW2 was released is only wasted if you didn’t play much throughout the 3 years the game has been out. Well worth the price if you did play. The expansion model doesn’t really affect that.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
There are already settings in the game that alter other players’ looks in order to improve game performance. I posted a pic in this topic of the lowest character model setting.
Not necessarily a performance boost (might be), but there are settings for how you see other players in pvp. You can make it so instead of seeing their dyes, the color of their armor is the same as the team they are on. There is also a standard enemy model setting that turns everyone on the enemy team into the same height human with a generic look for their profession. That way you don’t have to worry about enemy players using tiny asuras or huge norns. These settings are meant to provide a benefit to the player at the expense of not seeing how others made their character look.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
They will be different skins.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Uploaded a picture of the game with the lowest character model setting and with player names turned off. With the settings the game has now, you can remove most of a player’s identity from your pov. Name, title, level, map completion star, armor set or outfit, and dyes. That only leaves the weapon set, backpiece, and mini. Do these settings prevent people from getting fancy armor skins, dyes, titles, etc.? No. So if there were settings for for generic weapon sets and the removal of backpieces and minis, people will still try to get the ones they like to show off.
I am someone who does use their look to show off to others what I’ve achieved in game. Glorious armor, fractal backpiece, volcanus, juggernaut, mini dolyak, champion legionnaire title, and so on. I do like showing off. But I am for features like the one the op suggested because:
1) I can still see my own stuff.
2) The majority of players aren’t going to use these options and so they will see what I’m showing off.
3) For the people who would use these options, their need for them is greater than my need to show off to those particular individuals.
4) If I’m having performance issues, these settings will be beneficial to me as well.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
I get that your request doesn’t fit this extreme, but it seems along those lines in some way.
I don’t think so. It’s along the lines of the lowest character model setting, team colors in pvp, and standard models in pvp. This feature doesn’t have an aspect of making the game soloable or making other people go away.
It’s a fine idea. There are benefits to both aesthetics and performance. This would be completely optional anyway.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
You can queue up together for pvp matches now. Theoretically, the matchmaking system will put you in matches with similarly skilled players. There are now reward tracks in pvp that give out items that level you up. It can actually be faster to level up through pvp than doing hearts in pve. More fun too lol.
If you do insist on leveling in pve, I don’t think there is too much benefit in grouping up tbh. When I got my friend into the game, I leveled an alt with him and I didn’t see the benefit over doing it solo with the exception of personal story which are easier when you have more people to help.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
On the character select screen, you can guest on TC and the megaserver system will try to put you on a map with TC people.
I can confirm this works well because whenever I want to watch people RP, I guest on TC, go to Divinitys Reach, and see a bunch of RPers.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
If you haven’t been around for a year, you missed out on living world season 2. You’ll have to get it from the gem store. Some of the achievements for it can be a challenge to get.
For 5 man instanced content, you should make your way up to Fractals 50 since they are updating it in the expansion.

has anet separated the pool of people according to home server?
because i don’t think huge numbers of people just disappear on the eve of a long awaited expansion
Definitely not this. I started a fractal last night. I’m on Fort Aspenwood. Got a pug that ended up in a different instance. Saw that his server was Ehmry Bay.
I put up an lfg for SE “p3 80s exp zerk” yesterday at 7pm est and it took too long to fill so I edited out the zerk just to get it over with and it still took a very long time to fill up. Usually on a weekend night a path like SE p3 would fill up immediately. But maybe that was just a rare situation and I only made note of it because I saw this topic beforehand and it was on my mind. The other paths I joined or made filled up faster.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
The 30-39 tier is probably the least done tier from what I see when pugging. You will get a party if you start it yourself which is what I did when I was in that tier. If you’re relying on others making the party for you , you may want to get 55 AR if possible since 40 and 49 show up often in the lfg. I don’t think they’re that much more difficult than 30.
Full ascended is unnecessary, even at 50. As long as you have enough to get to 70 AR and the rest is exotic.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
I agree on the condition that they make the personal story repeatable like season 2. If implemented, the story dungeons should have a challenge mote that gives the same difficulty as they are now.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
If they have new islands in this expansion, they can put it in the 1-100 schedule. They can introduce levels past 100 with new islands and mistlock instabilities in the future. I don’t really see much of a problem with that. By the time they get up to that point, the fractals community will have been in at level 100 for some time just like how we’re 50 now.
Of course they will probably introduce some new way of getting new people from 1-100 super fast lol.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Someone on reddit leaked some of the changes to fractals 3 months ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/33cu1u/spoilers_unannounced_release/
While he could have edited his post, the responses to it from 3 months ago indicated that he hasn’t.
He is now saying there will be raids:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3f98xb/e_returns_with_some_validity/
Hope we get 10 man raids. Easier to get a group going regularly while still having that larger than a party feel.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Anet clarified some stuff on reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3f6ei6/the_brandnew_fractals_of_the_mists_legendary/ctluosv
Each fractal scale is a pre-determined island and gambit pairing. Fractal 20 will always be the same island and the same gambit. You won’t be able to just do swamp for any scale you want.
The rewards you get from an island will scale based on the island type. So an island that is typically longer (cliffside) will give more rewards then one that is typically shorter (swamp). This will discourage you from just farming swamp forever.
The new daily achievements will require you complete different fractal scales. You won’t be able to just do swamp X times to complete the achievements.
This might mean a group picks their favorite set of scales (3 to 9 or so islands) to clear each day, but repeatedly farming the same scale or same island will not be as beneficial.
Boss fights will be spread throughout the ‘static schedule’ like the other fractal islands. A ‘run’ will be one island; either boss or regular. They use the same reward scaling I mentioned above.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Really happy we’re getting this AND “challenging group content”. Still want to see what the latter is, but today was a good news day.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
They confirmed on reddit that fractals will not be the only place where you can get the ascended salvage kits.

Is $50 way too much? Compare it against the games closest to it. The recent WoW expansion is $50. Requires a subscription. The FFXIV expansion is $40 and also requires a subscription which immediately puts it over $50 just to play. ESO is going to release dlc every quarter which will end up being over $50 throughout a one year period.
While I personally don’t mind if Anet gave me the expansion at a lower price or even free, I’m being realistic here. $50 every few YEARS to stay up-to-date with a great MMO is fair.

I bought GW1: Complete Collection for $40 a couple of years before GW2 came out. There was still a decent population, but it was well past the point when the game was most popular. For a cheap price, I had all the content, but I missed out on the excitement as the game expanded and I missed out on the community. While I appreciate GW1, I don’t hold the same nostalgia for it as people who played since the beginning.
The 3 years I’ve played GW2 has been an amazing ride. I don’t regret the $60 I paid for it. $50 every few years to keep up-to-date on features and content for a game I plan to continue playing doesn’t sound bad to me. The idea that new players are better off or that it’s better to wait years before paying so you get more content for the price you pay ignores that this is an MMO where much of the enjoyment is playing with the community for years as the game grows. If you just want to get a lot of content for a low price, I suggest buying single player games instead. There are “GOTY” editions for many great games. You will get the value you desire.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
I’m a guild leader so I get on to run dungeons and do pvp with the guild. If I weren’t a guild leader, I would have quit the game a while ago tbh.
Something that helps me not get too bored is making new goals. But I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve accomplished almost everything I’ve wanted to. World map completion, crafted legendary, rank 80 pvp, champ title for my main, level 80 on all professions, dungeon master, level 50 fractals, etc. My current goal is to max all the crafting professions which will be done soon (got to get two professions from 400 to 500 and I have the gold to do it right now). I guess I can get the TT achievements or the LS2 achievements, but I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to do.
Bought ESO when it was on sale a few days ago and really enjoying it since it’s something new.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
It’s silly, but at least they are changing this for the expansion. My guild which I started earlier this year hit level 6 for all categories and unlocked everything besides Trek and everything that requires Trek which unfortunately includes all missions other than Bounty and stuff like Heroes Banner. At this point, it’s not worth upgrading further. By the time we would have unlocked everything else, the expansion will be out.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
You don’t get to leave until the match is over. Well you can close the game and wait, but you might as well play rather than leaving your team 4v5.
It’s what makes unranked/ranked a more enjoyable experience compared to hotjoin. 10 people queue into a match and it’s 5v5 from beginning to end as long as no one dc or rq.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
They just confirmed on twitch that they removed the practice button, but did not give an explanation why.
I think it’s obvious they want to de-emphasize hotjoin because of how bad it is and get more people going into unranked instead.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
(edited by Arcadio.6875)
The button being gone is deliberate. When they accidentally showed off the new ui a month ago, it wasn’t there. They had enough time to fix it if it was a mistake.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Patch-added-queue-preferences-update-gone/
Personally, I think new players should be given a much better tutorial than the existing one and then go into unranked rather than hotjoin. The latter is a terrible experience that could turn people away from pvp.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Would like to know what’s happening to TDM.
If it’s being removed from queues, I would still like for it to be in Custom Arenas. They should also add Raid on the Capricorn to CAs, but that is for another topic lol.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
$60 for GW2 itself. Amazing value over the years.
$10 for gems. Character slots were on sale and I didn’t have much gold at the time. A combination of that $10 and some gold got me two character slots. Worth it.
$10 for a second account. I haven’t played it much, but have logged in every day to collect the reward. If I convert my laurels to T6 mats to gold, it would be better than spending $10 for gems and converting that to gold. I do plan to actually play this account in the future though. Want to check out the EU spvp and wvw scene.
$80 in all. No regrets. Will buy the expansion at some point.
Reading how much people spend on gems amazes me though lol.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Patch is still full of bugs and highly subject to change.
Publishing guides now is a great sign of lack of foresight
Or maybe not

I was listening to your video and burst out laughing when I read this. Funny coincidence.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
So you actually prefer to pay $100 for the exact same content that the creator of the game has effectively pegged as being worth $50?
Do you willingly double pay for all services, or is Anet just special?
Also, by your logic, if giving new players HoT for free only benefits the community, then clearly giving all players HoT for free would only benefit the community even more. Where’s your push for the entire community, rather than just those who haven’t played yet?
I’ll actually have spent $110 because the game was $60 at release. I don’t mind because I will have played the game for 3 years longer than the new players.
I have another post in this topic mentioning that I bought GW1 Complete for $40 which contained all 3 campaigns and the EOTN xpac. Should players who bought GW1 at release be jealous? Not really. They got to enjoy the game for many years. I am actually envious of them since I got into GW1 so late. It seems like it was an amazing ride.
This game has gone through a price drop and multiple sales with the most recent ones being $10. Did you complain? I didn’t because that’s what happens to most products over time. At this point, throw it into the xpac for new players to make the game easier to get into. Having to buy two things serves as a barrier that might turn away many potential new players. I want our community to grow because that benefits me. More people to do dungeons with. More people to fight with and against in pvp. Some of these new players may one day join my guild and we’ll become close friends.
People need to stop being childish over new players getting good value. The $60 I spent has been amazing value over 3 years. The $50 I will probably spend on the xpac (haven’t yet) may end up having amazing value as well if I continue to play the game for years using the features and content introduced in it. I did have an issue with the $50 tier not coming with a character slot and now they are giving it to veterans.
One day there will be a GW2 Complete for a very cheap price containing the base game and all expansions. Someone will pick it up and get great value for the price they paid. But they will have come so late they will have missed most of the ride. I won’t be envious of the lower price they paid compared to me.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
I bought Guild Wars: Complete Collection for $40. It was a few years before GW2 which everyone was hyped for so when I saw that GW1 box sitting there in the store, it seemed like an amazing deal. And it was, but I would soon wish I had been there since the beginning. You simply cannot compare playing the game for many years and experiencing it change and grow with getting the game after it’s completely finished.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
As long as a character slot is included with any expansion that adds a class, I am happy. It does not bother me that new players get previous content included with the purchase of the latest expansion. That only benefits the community.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Definitely in favor of difficult instanced content designed for more than a single party. 10 man raids would be a great addition to the game.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
That would be great. Hope they implement it.
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
While not confirmed, I assume guild arenas will use the pve/wvw build system and not the spvp one. So food and mixing gear stats will be a thing.
