You are playing one of the best (maybe the best) core Ranger builds. Congrats on making it to Ruby with core Ranger. Yes, Druid fares much better against the other meta classes. I kind of see it like this in 1v1 scenarios:

Meta Druid > Meta thief
Meta Druid > Reaper
Meta Druid > Guardian (I mess this up sometimes and die)
Meta Druid = Meta Scrapper (You can stalemate the best of the best)
Meta Druid = Meta Ele (They won’t harm you, and you won’t harm them)
Meta Druid = Meta Chrono (someone will die)
Meta Druid =< Meta Rev (R Heisenburg kill me often, the rest stalemate or loose)
Meta Druid < Meta Warrior

Condi Druid (ADST Sage) mostly fares the same but utterly destroys Rev, Thief, Guardian, and some warriors.

The real benefit of a well played Druid is realized in group fights 2v2 – 5v5. If they let you free cast heals it is pretty much GG.

Keep earning those league tickets baby! I’ve got 120 and counting.

Believe it or not, Magestorm was fast, extremely competitive, and just awesome. Look it up. Three teams fought it out while protecting their shrine (base) from destruction. They had water pools throughout the map that you could sit in and “cap,” which would give your team faster energy/magic regen…….truly ahead of its time. Played great on 56k – as hard as that is to believe.

Yeah, I used to play doom on a 14,400 modem. It was surprising fast and less laggy than Call Of Duty. Haha.

@OP, thanks for posting the video, it clears things up quite a build. The build you are using is actually a pretty nice counter to many Druid builds. At range you can gank them pretty fast and if they don’t press you, you will ruin them at range.

The problem is that the build you are running is not great for team play, as it has severe weaknesses to the other classes (meta Rev, scrapper, thief, Mesmer, warrior and Ele). The opponents you are facing are also failing to react to you properly most of the time.

Regardless, I’ve gotten ganked a few times by rangers jumping me at the wrong time with LB. Doesn’t matter, though, the build is weaker in team fights so usually ends up costing the match.

One final point, it looks like the majority of those Rangers (and especially their allies) are a little weak. Is this in unranked?

Why not just have a leaderboard showing total pips earned per season? Kinda simple, right?

I’ll even include some example SQL pseudo code:

You need to ask yourself why Druid ancient seeds was nerfed this season. No one was complaining about this because it was a group AoE condi cleanse that benefitted everyone who had a competent Druid healer on their team.

Now, why slam the nerf hammer on a skill that was not OP? They wanted conditions to be OP and oppressive this season. You can’t honestly tell me it was a mistake on their part.

No one complained about Druid’s team condi removal.

Yeah, you really should team up with your diamond solo queue buddies when trying to make it into legend. I absolutely had to do this last season. Some of the legendary players in the bottom of the league are… horribad bottom feeders.

A simple leaderboard showing who has the most matches won and what league they are in would be nice. Yeah, it might be a grind fest to get to the top but it would at least show experience. I’d take anything at this point.

Good point! I agree! ANet should do the following:

1. Restore Seeds ability to remove 2 conditions (so ranger doesn’t melt to condi spam)
2. Increase Search and Rescue to 900 units (so it is not worthless trash)
3. Increase Bristleback and Smokescale damage by 10%
4. Increase/Restore Sword auto attack speed, or boost damage by 25%

You cant really blame the mmr when youre such a weak player due to your arm/hand. In every season, you bring up thread after thread about mmr hell, when in fact you arent in mmr hell. The game is created in the way that you need 2 functional arms/hands to play it, it doesnt consider damaged arms/hands. It probably works well for you in pve but pvp is alot different. I think you just have to realise that theres no way for anet or mm to make it better for you under your circumstances.

Also…try scrapper, why even try warrior with your arm/hand, its a real bad choice. Go scrapper that have one skill bar basically with alot of sustain. The class can carry you a tiny bit but dont expect wonders.

Oh wow, I didn’t know Ithilwen had a damaged hand. Try a G600 gaming mouse, if you can. You can grab one at Best Buy. I play Ranger and Mesmer, both of which require alot of keypresses and have most everything bound to the mouse. I just use my left had to press forward back and side to side. This might help. The reason is that the league system is a quasi non-zero sum game for the participants where they earn pips as a kind of currency. The pips are traded back and forth and created in 3 ways.

1. At the start of the season, by placement
2. When a player gets on a three game win streak
3. When a player breaks a tree game loose streak

The problem with the people at the top of this economy is that they effectively remove pips from the economy. They are kind of like billionaire bankers feeding off the poor, taking every last dime (pip) out of the economy. If the system started to match them against Diamonds and Rubies, they could completely wipe out those leagues. The only way to get out of sapphire, would be to beat the legendary bankers, er, gamers.

It would look like an old lady trying to keep her house when Donald Trump wants to take it!

Casuals seem to be a scapegoat for toxicity of this thread. Toxicity is the fault of the toxic people or persons.

In every team game, all the players are going to be salty if individual teammates are getting dumpstered due to poor connection, bad builds, talking on the phone, screaming kids/parents in the background, you name it.

I’m guilty of being salty @ bad teammates, but as per the unspoken internet code of conduct, don’t start verbally abusing people in GW2 team chat. If you do, you’re at fault.

Instead of alienating a significant player demographic by simply denying them the PvP Achievements/League progress, I suggest a positive sportsmanship program, and the ability to meaningfully rate players on their sportsmanship, (or toxicity) in a way that incentivizes shutting the hell up instead of expressing how crap your teammates are compared to you.

Toss in some serious reward track progress boosts for a clean bill of sportsmanship, and you have a happier playerbase.

The direct damage component is a little lacking, but if you use a hybrid amulet like Sage you can also deal about 8k bleed damage in around 6s when fully might stacked. Add in a fully might stacked pet swipe and the damage is OK.

You really need to use the Honed Axes trait and capitalize on Winters Bite to get the most of this weapon. Every 8s you can have AoE chill and AoE 3 stacks of bleed.

A simple combo like the following will hit a somewhat stationary pleb for around 12k-14k in about 5s.

1. Weapon Swap with Geomancy and Hydromancy Sigils
1a. Maybe Swap Pet (if BB f2, else if SS ready, swap and f1)
2. Winters bite
3. Split blade
4. Dagger 5 and/or 4—if they are still in range or attacking

MinionholdStronghold gets old after a few games where there is so much AI you can’t see the ground anymore.

If you can find a way to keep perma regen on a number of your allies you won’t need Dolyak runes to rebuild AF before the cooldown timer runs out. I’ve had good experiences using both Altruism and Lyssa’s runes in a addition to Dolyak. Especially if the enemy team is stacked with bunkers or condition dealers, respectively.

Let’s just say standing still for 3 seconds in the middle of a good fight is a little risky.

I still use ADST Condi Druid in some situations. It is oppressive vs certain enemy compositions. Not as all-around strong as Menders Bunker, but has devastating burst and does really well against Power Shiro Revenant.

3 far and 2 home can work well if everyone is on board and the opposing team is slow to react. If they react fast enough, you forfeit mid (usually not good) and won’t cap far.

Also, another problem presents itself if you gank the defender on far. What happens then? If they are smart they can create a favorable matchup on their home by sending 3 back to it. As soon as they get there, the dead ally will be respawn creating a 4v3 on their home, in their advantage. There are other plays they can make as well depending on how well your pug or team communicates.

If you don’t have good communication it is a little risky, but can really throw a pug off if they can’t communicate or rotate to recover.

(Side note I have played un-ranked for years and have about 2000k matches with a 50-60% win rate and I am unlikely to magically get better at PvP at this point.) Ha, ha. Don’t listen to all the baddies giving you monkey feces for advice. The single, most significant thing you can do is queue with friends as a semi or full premade. That’s the easiest way to climb.

With 2000 unranked matches you should have an understanding of your class mechanics and the game basics, though you are a little inexperienced. Many of the people you encounter in the higher leagues will have 3-8k matches in ranked.

With a 43% win ratio you might be making some common mistakes that are hard to identify. Like wrong build, or pushing uncontested points at the wrong time, or making a campfire at the wrong time, etc. People make the game harder than it needs to be. The most common mistake is leaving a point when you should stay put.

Short bow isn’t a good condi weapon when all you have to do to counter it is to look at it.

That’s usually the case this season but today I’ve just been getting exalted legends consistently on the other team so it’s probably best to wait it out before they tank my MMR. The way things look today the more I play the lower my MMR will get meaning less of a chance to make Diamond this season.

Forum bug, located!

Please consider the following facts when complaining about conditions:

1. Some classes don’t have viable power builds.
2. Every class has the potential for great condi mitigation.
3. Are you using a meta battle build for every fight?
4. You should not use a meta battle build for every fight.

Think about it like this, if the opposing team has 3 Revenants and 2 Thieves, you are probably going to have a bad day if you enter battle with a meta Druid build.

Likewise, if you are on Revenant and the opposing team has 2 necrosis, 2 warriors, and a Mesmer, you are going to have a bad day with metabattle build.

The answer is to adjust you build at match start.

It also works best if you first get to your ally, swap pet, and start revive. This gives a really fast revive, even under moderate pressure.

I finished the profession achievements in S2, during which I went on a huge loosing streak, something like 30 games. Many people made fun of me and said MMR hell does not exist. Ha ha, it sure did last season.

I like this current meta the best, even with the loss of my precious popping purple seeds of love. Here is why:

1. Every class is viable this time around. This is very important to me. No red headed step children.

2. Glass one shot meta is gimmicky and not fun. The condi bomb meta is likewise skill less and not fun.

3. Bunker-Bruiser meta favors those who know the ins and outs of their classes more than beginners. The high damage metas tend to put everyone on the same playing field and caters to beginners.

4. They removed most of the gimmicks (except maybe rev staff 5). I consider those kind of skills gimmicky.

5. They removed the usefulness of annoying, brainless AI constructs, spirits, turrets, sigils dogs, etc.

Gee that never occured to me. Of course I practiced in unranked, but I’m not going to suddenly gain 4 years of experience on a new profession. My main can hang with anyone, I can’t use a few days or even weeks experience to be godlike at a new profession. Look at OEggs kitten .

I dont know what professions you are practicing with but in season 1 I abandoned my thief for a ranger and it took me about 50 matches to score better results.
And with still less than 300 games on ranger I dont even think im below average.
If you wish to learn rev or thief you will probably have to invest some more time, I’ll give you that.

Rev is broken OP, so that should go faster than thief…
