If you didn’t want flowery/grassy footfalls, then Kudzu was probably a poor choice for a legendary.

So what can i do, when there is not another legendary longbow? And i am not talking about change footsteps, but get choice into a game to manage it as you want.. just like with GS.. just have choice of 1 or 2 another footstep animations.. e.g. black/red or something like this.. Should be nice for appearence.. And i think a lot of ppl will be happy with this Thanx!

You do nothing. Not all legendaries go with everything, because if they did that would just be silly. Wait until they introduce the phase 2 legendaries.

NOPE, there is no lag cos EoTM run “new enginee” – I will call it as this. While old WvW maps run " old pve enginee". Basically old borderlands lag cos of PvE constrution for em, while EoTM have completly diffrent contruction. Also if u ever got over slow loading textures u could see HUNDREDS of lvls of textures under current ones. For example, under blue spawn wp is a lot of snow, water etc. and at this point, THE WATER is lagging, not fps, but ping lag.

Ye, watch YT and check out about the textures under EB or some other wvw map. Also turn off every graphic option and it will lag less( not fps, ping). As for constructions of EoTM – Old borderlands. as i wrote check YT or turn down render of ur RAM and GPU to see it. Also check out beta posts( if they still exist) that WvW run same enginee as PvE – GW1’s enginee and isn’t suited for 240 players( 3 way fights).

Complete and utter nonsense. There is no different server backend or architecture being used in EotM. There is no separate “PvE” engine. And the reason performance was brought up in the first place was that people think getting rid of EotM will somehow improve performance in other parts of the game, when there is also zero evidence to support this (no, “but it used to run so much better back in the day” is not valid evidence. People love to look at the past through rose-colored glasses. I remember when I first started playing WvW, and the game ran like garbage in large-scale fights).

So u had low pc Also they removed culling after 2-3 weeks since live. And yes EoTM have totally diffrent architecture and don’t have such many textures as old maps have – some evidence? Follow pervious post Getting rid od EoTM might help a bit( cos servers wouldn’t be stressed enough and before u comment it, if it isn;t using WvW’s server supplies then it will give better performance for pve and if it have it’s own server resources it will help with all other gamemodes ), but will bring lot of bad stuff to old servers( like low lvls, low skilled players, ktrains, pvers etc.).

I have had the exact same PC for 3 years. Nothing has changed. Care to try again? All of your assertions are merely assumptions extrapolated using poor knowledge of how this game engine or any game engine works. You have no concept of server architecture or even how graphics and CPU interact and operate within the engine. “if it have it’s own server resources it will help in other gamemodes” — please explain how this works. You can’t. Because it’s a load of garbage.

So when the enemy has no supplies or very low supplies in all the maps, how do you think they suddenly appear to gain some out of nowhere?!
They port to an EOTM instance, grab the supply from there and then port back.
Because there can be more than one instance they can have a couple thousand supply available if players ferry it over!

I don’t care. I don’t give a flying kitten if someone ports out of a keep under attack to pick up a measly 15 supply. Who gives a kitten?

Good argument, let’s turn it around:
WvW has zero impact to me as a EotM player, so I don’t care if it’s removed or not.

In fact both are broken (imbalance, PvD, Scoring, K-train, …) and should be replaced by something that works better.

Let me clarify: EotM has zero impact on me as a WvW player, so let it stay. I immediately thought of rewording my post after I wrote it, because I would never advocate for the deletion of PvP or PvE due to its lack of direct impact on me as a player — knowing full well that many of the people that play those game modes are also WvW players, and may well leave the game if they were removed. Indirect impact is always a factor, so yes, my post was poorly-worded.

I’m wondering where the drops come from. If they’re from champ bags/boxes, SW is probably the place to be. If they’re from mob drops, it’s all about Dry Top, since most mobs in SW don’t drop anything.

Edit: Oh and you can pm the STUN person(s) and feel free to give them a GTFO. We have a raid time during reset. If it was late NA then they were likely on alt after raid.

I was going to post asking this very same thing. Boon and Condition Duration tend to come almost exclusively from investment in the relevant trait lines. While it may be that stats lost from the change will be replaced by gear increases for the most part, boon/condition duration gear tends to be lackluster, given the small bonus (1% per armor item, 10% per weapon) and large sacrifice (a better third stat). I recall that a few of the traits presented in the AMA contained duration modifiers. Will this be the only way to gain these stats now? That’s a rather significant change.

On a related note, simply boosting the base character attributes and gain from gear is not quite a replacement for stats in the trait lines. The rule always was: “Trait for abilities, gear for stats.” However, the attribute gains from trait line investment did inform gear selection. After all, 300 Power or Toughness is nothing to sneeze at, and knowing that one had it from the traits allowed one to make certain decisions with equipment. The pairing of certain stats; the stats being in lines with certain traits — there were imperfections, sure, but overall there were nuances that really made for a beautiful system. If nothing else, we might take a moment to consciously admire the design that is being undone: It was great and it’s part of what made this game great.

That said, I suppose what I’m asking relates to gearing. If, say, everyone is gaining 5% Power and 5% Vitality from gear, but I (in this example) am losing 300 Vitality from the trait line, then my net survivability will have dropped, because those 300 points represented some 50% of my Vitality over the baseline. Conversely, a Power build might be losing 25% of its Power. The sample me is going to be dying faster than it currently is. Should we expect to adjust to entirely new numbers? I guess the question is: Are we going to have to make whole new sets of Ascended gear to replace the lost stats?

Only responding to the last part, but this seems to be the case. It’s going to be a new kind of horizontal progression, whereas we can longer rely on balancing our trait stats with our gear stats — my Warrior’s toughness is going to drop from 3.2k to 2.9k because I have no toughness on any of my armor. I’m expecting it’s going to take quite a bit of gold to get somewhat back to the way I had positioned all of my characters, probably even moreso than I’ve already calculated since we’re going to be expecting new players and lots of old players like us trying to sort out our target stats. Mat prices are going through the roof, make no mistake.

I’m not happy about it, honestly. I’m already going to buy the expansion, and now with all of my near-dozen characters I’m going to have to respec much of their gear. It’s going to be at least a thousand-gold change, assuming I don’t miscalculate.

Being hostile doesn’t stop the bandwagon. HOD did that last time in the most explicit terms you can expect. People showed up anyway. Mind you, this is second hand from me and reading the forum posts from HOD telling people to GTFO.

That’s funny because I remember HOD guilds guesting on CD back before megaservers telling everyone to xfer to HOD and to “join the winning server” when xfers were free.

Laugh. That was a year ago, during season 2! And it was done by one guild that left immediately after the season. You think things haven’t changed since then? Right, because our forums aren’t filled with dozens of worried posts about the transfers and there haven’t been dozens more in the matchup threads that are less worried and actually quite hostile. Oh wait, there are.

Get lost. It’s not like we invited DB here. Go cry to someone who cares.

I’m curious about servers being bandwagoned. If the target server expresses disinterest or hostility towards being bandwagoned, does that cause the incoming guilds to go somewhere else? Or have those guilds already had their minds set?

Personally, I’d recommend fighting against being bandwagoned (if possible) because when they leave, it’s a long and painful fall.

It changed absolutely nothing. When a post on gw2wvw was brought to our attention that has a DB community leader quite explicitly saying that “HoD has no leadership” and that they planned to “take over,” we basically said to stay the hell away. It didn’t work. You should have read our BL map chat on reset, it was absolutely toxic.

Poor HoD. Queues so you can come into a BL and steamroll the 10 who show up from the other server(s). My heart bleeds.

Though, it was fun facing you open field time-and-time again while outnumbered 2 to 1 (ok, maybe 1.5 to 1) and wiping you. At least we get that satisfaction. Little else.

And now, what…5th week in a row. Love this matching system. So robust. Makes me feel all warm and cozy about HoT and all the awesome changes coming.

So what about the enormous amount of gold and skill points I and others have spent buying trait unlocks? I did map completion once, on one character, and that was enough for me. I don’t want to have to go troll around in PvE maps for hours to unlock the traits that I’ve already unlocked countless times over. The whole reason for me buying many of those traits is that I didn’t want to have to bother going to point X and doing silly thing Y to just unlock a stupid trait.

The new, more streamlined unlock system is friendlier to new players and much less of a burden on players with multiple characters.

By locking traits to tiers and reducing the overall number of traits, we’ve made each choice much more compelling.

…are really just super sleazy ways of saying they’re dumbing the game down is going to have a pretty eye-opening experience when the expansion is released. When they use words like “compelling” and “streamlined,” make no mistake, they are pulling a Deus Ex 2.

I was just playing the game minding my own business. There were a couple of them, and one kicked me as I was finishing up a quest involving attacking flame legion attacking a fort or base. Me being ‘kicked’ didn’t seem to make a difference though. So, I really don’t understand what all that was about.

He was talking to me, presumably because it hurts his feelings that I don’t read reddit or every server isn’t lockstep with what some reddit groupthink came up with. Oh noes some servers can think for themselves and have.. gasp.. come up with with their own rules! Don’t go catching the vapors on me now.

There is only one correct answer – ask your own server how they use the tags….

Even then you may find variations with each commanders, purple tags on YB for example are usually guild, but some are open, some are closed, and some are after raid pugmanders that don’t switch to blue……

Mixed. I’d say the people that have been here the longest aren’t happy, because we know the inevitable outcome. It’s not like we haven’t seen it twice before. Those that haven’t been here forever seem pretty happy with the influx.

Personally, it doesn’t really affect the way I play anymore since I’m primarily a zerg busting/havoc/small group/solo roamer. If we get pushed into a higher tier it just means more for me to fight, and if (when) there’s another exodus and we tumble back down through the tiers, more to fight again.

Original consensus from reddit :

- Blue : Main Bus/Zerg/Blob, sometimes used to difetrentiate melee from ranged.
- Red : Snipers/Roamers/Havoc, sometimes used to differentiate ranged from melee.
- Yellow : Guild Raids, pugs please respect and do not join.
- Purple : Scouts, commanders please listen and tip.

Servers also have their own codes. but possible sigifications variates rarely.

Since I’ve never heard of any of that, and none of that applies to my server (except for the blue tag), and many of the streamers I watch from other servers also aren’t aware of this mysterious consensus, I’m going to have to say “variates rarely” — variates ain’t a word btw — is absolute garbage.

To answer the op, no, they don’t. Nobody has ever established or decided on how they should work across the board. The only thing that I’ve seen that seems to be universally agreed upon in most servers is that a blue tag on any map is generally considered the “primary” tag, or the pugmander tag.

That’s funny, because I’m a network engineer as well. If some players have a perfectly fine connection and some don’t, it’s almost certainly not the fault of the software. Instead I’d recommend that those people do a tracert to the server as well as analyze their net traffic when connected to see how it’s traveling back and forth to the server. What would be your first thought?

There is far too many people with the same problem for it to be a routing problem or with individual players ISP/Connection.

I was just in EB Piken square and whenever 2 zergs approached each other every single member of our server suffered severe packet loss and warping over the area, The same was happening to the enemy zerg.

The problem lies squarely with Anet.

Correct. I was speaking to the poster who said that his and others’ connections were fine but some people on his server were having issues, not when everyone on a server or multiple servers experiences those issues.

First, of course, this change would make wvw mode more interesting.

I have yet to see any definitive proof from you that this would be true. If anything, it would make it more tedious, and not everyone goes out and farms badges for hours in EotM. “More crap to micro-manage” does not necessarily mean “more interesting.”

I was actually quite happy with T4 up until this week. It was indeed the most balanced tier in NA, even T1. We had a queue in EBG tonight until 12am, and while I don’t quite see 18 (I heard 19?) DB guilds here, there is a definite population increase. I think if 18/19 guilds transferred here we’d probably be meeting ~600 ticks, but we’re not… at least not yet. People complain about stagnation in Gold-tier servers, and I wouldn’t venture near any of them because I am a de-facto solo roamer, but I was honestly hoping to get a relatively solid and stable T4 where I could go out and solo roam and not get run over by a zerg. I think that’s what a lot of us in this tier wanted.

We have been mega-stacked twice now (S1 and S2) and then abandoned only to fall sharply, even ending up in T8 post-S1. While we never left Silver after S2, we still went 6 1/2 months without a single win. We don’t want to be a bandwagon again, and I pray that whatever transfers we’ve already seen up until now are the end of it.

I would like to know, which server is better in terms of avoiding ganking squads, and which one would be a lot less straining for a glass mesmer.

Empty ones. If you want a higher chance of not running into 5-man gank squads, you will actually have to go to a tier where there aren’t enough people to create them. Even then, condi builds will still be there. There is no such thing as fighting a server that has no condi roamers.

I would never support changing WvW to GvG, and the reason Guild Wars is named that is because of the ancient Guild Wars that predated GW1; it has nothing to do with ingame guilds fighting each other. Pure and simple, I like the massive scale of WvW and it is easily the best RvR system to come around since DAoC. It should be no surprise that one of the primary architects of WvW came from DAoC.

WvW definitely has its problems, but changing the entire game mode to be guild-only is not a solution.

Dragonbrand can go….having been fighting them now for a while, I really hate the lack of commitment they give to fights, and tower/keep sitting. I do not mind their open world siege, that’s whatever, it can be dealt with…its the fact they just don’t move unless no one is around, even if they outnumber us 2-1.

That and the complete flip flop of their servers fight times. SEA timezones dominate, then Maguuma just pops on and retakes everything for a longer period.

Three weeks is a while? You must have the patience of a dog in traffic.

Another interesting thing. Last night I was playing on my NA account on Blackgate, there were a few NA players complaining about lag, whilst there I was an EU player and I didnt notice a thing. Was on a necro not guardian as well. And was at around 12-1am UK time.

So how can an EU player not have lag on a NA server whilst a NA player does???

If I’m roaming in my BL and I’m tracking someone(s) who are flipping camps, I absolutely 100% will chase them all the way to their spawn if I have to. Because the time I spend chasing them is more time they’re not spending flipping our camps.

Nope. RNG is exactly that: random. We’ve been matched with servers 300 glicko higher than us and 200 glicko lower than us. It does happen.

From my understanding of the business world a director makes decisions but doesn’t get their hands durty.

So basically he should be telling the guys at the top what to do not doing it him self.

One thing that does strike me a strange is how he thinks the ingame ping reading of 0 means anything at all. It’s not even directly linked to the lag just a tool on the side malfunctioning like a broken sensor.

If I was putting myself in his shoes, it would be something I’d notice that would concern me (it’s a bug!). Whether or not it’s linked to what’s causing the latency issues is irrelevant, but I’d consider it a breadcrumb that might be worth following and something I’d want to look into fixing. It also can’t be treated like a “broken sensor” because it’s not mechanical in nature; it doesn’t wear out, it’s only the code that can be considered broken in some way and that warrants a look.

Here’s the thing. I work in the games industry, and I was trying to correct your misconceptions of how things work, which hardly qualifies as an attack. Technical directors are every bit in the trenches as any other programmer, in fact sometimes moreso because they are the ones who define the guidelines and standards for the rest of the tech teams. If there is something wrong enough for the CTO or tech lead to look into it, you should consider it a good sign that they are taking this really seriously.

I’m not going to spend a page-long post trying to explain how the hierarchy of game development works, so just take my word for it that you don’t really know what you’re talking about.

Why on earth don’t they have a god mode for the moderators already when the game has been out how long? says alot about the situation!

And why a director who doesn’t even make money from the business they are meant to direct. Hence the name, so why does he even have control over the servers!

I… I’m not sure what to say. First of all, he’s not a moderator or a GM. And the GMs do have “god mode” including lots of other nifty tools as detailed here. Second of all, he’s a technical director, and I’m going to assume you have no idea what that is by the relative bizarreness of your post. Tech directors lead the programming/engineering teams, essentially the top of the food chain in the tech sector of game development. If there’s anyone that should have control over the servers, it’s the tech director.

You are effin crazy. The fees exist for using the Trading Post only. That is the price you pay for the ability to use the TP. If I buy my friend’s PS4 from him without him trading it into a store at a significant markdown and then me buying it from the store at a significant markup, neither of us is committing “tax evasion” — since you’re so set on using real world examples. If they didn’t want to allow people to trade through mail, they wouldn’t allow them to send items or gold. If they wanted to tax those trades, they would. Unbelievable.

Why not hire more people so they can get more done faster? In the end it will be a profit for them cause people wont get bored and start playing other games while waiting for the expansion. More people playing= more probable gem sales as well.

Hiring people costs money. You don’t know whether the profit will outweigh the cost of hiring additional people. Nobody except Anet would be able to quantify how many “more” actually means in real numbers, so it’s unfair to assume that … oh wait

I believe you have lag, Nieny, but it’s not from the problem I’m looking at. Right now (meaning as I post this and for the last 10 minutes), nobody has lag from server lag. I was just talking to some peeps and one person with a 100 mps fibre connection was getting a 900 ping, then 20, then 900. That’s not the game. The people standing nearby had consistent 40 ping. I had 90. That’s not map lag. I don’t know what it is. People get mad when I suggest it is there ISP or their WiFi or someone in the house streaming Netflix. So I won’t suggest that.

BUT WE HAVE A SKILL LAGS … only i use my ISP and i use LAN no WiFi.. Anet please Buy new server.. that the best solution…
And we all have skill lag becouse we use wifi or smthing like that ? -.-

You do realize this is how all MMOs work, right?

This game has always adopted the “we’re not like other MMO games” way of thinking.

Guild Wars 2s main selling point was the constantly updating living story, and for an unknown period of time, that’s gone.

Blame the people who didn’t want new content every 2 weeks, but larger chunks of content every few months.

Seriously, you’re the guy who has repeatedly made troll threads to nerf or remove anything whenever you get killed by it. You’re telling someone to do their job, that you think you know more than them. Newsflash: you don’t. Are you seriously going to play the immaturity card? You must be joking.

Stephen has only said once to keep him updated. Other than that he has been spending time watching heatmaps/treemaps and perf logs to try and figure out where the spikes are hitting the most, which might lead to a “why.” As far as I know he has never posted in these forums. I suggest you let him do his thing and see where it goes before saying “OMG 3 YEARS THEY SHOULD KNOW EVERYTHING” or whatever. That’s immature.
