Its similar to Mesmer, they are insnaly weak when it comes to proper PvP and TPvP, hardly taken 1 viable build that is nothing to fear and an easy target for anyone that deals conditions
You gotta be kidding? in WvW other then Thief i have pretty much no problem against any class of any build. I have won plenty of 1 v X as well. Sure we are slow out of combat, the fact i have to carry Focus just to get around is kinda annoying but no way is it dead or anything.
Memsers are great solo, in small groups and in zergs feedback owns unorganized zergs, combine that with Chaos Storm, Perplexity 6/6 and you are very powerful. You might not be a member of the front charging (unless greatsword/sword) but you are still very much a wanted class.
I do great in PvE as well, especially the new events, Choas Storm, Shatters, Syaff and Feedback alone mean i am easily able to tag alot – to the point i am having to LEAVE loot behind despite going with like 20-30 free slots i am still getting full of items.
It needs reduced and the damage increased, its pathetically weak.
YOu mean for 1 year we were force to played a kittenty build called bunker because we were a glass cannon without the cannon and simply just a glass? A build that could last for 8 minutes without doing anything except waste people’s time?

^ This. Other then Bunker what have ele had? The damage is laughable and not even a threat to people without any armor. Had D/D “burst” but that was more down to the Control then the actual damage.
You could go FULL class cannon and you wont be able to kill most glass cannons of any other class simply due to the fact seriously low health as well as the added low damage for a “burst” build.
The only change other than earth traitline that I suggested was the burning precision buff(which it needs because it’s terrible).
If you want a 1 attunement build then you can forget about it. The devs want us to swap.
That in my opinion IS the problem, they want to dictate HOW we should be playing the class

Torment would be so ridiculously overpowered… plus torment doesn’t really fit Eles any better than confusion or poison.
Anyway, were that to be added that brings us back the the problem of mono-attunement builds in the first place. Simple fact is, no Ele builds are currently efficient that don’t go in to the arcane tree, which offers nothing for condition builds. Personally I think adding in condition stuff to arcane would be the cheap and quick method, and I would rather see traits in the other trees that make mono and duo attunement builds more efficient.
And then of course the previously stated problem with condition removals, and condition stacking, and gearing for condition duration… pretty sure we could make a shorter list of what is working properly about condition builds than we could about what isn’t…
It wouldnt be over powered at all, Mesmer can have 16.5second of 5! stacks of Torment on a 9.25second cool down. THAT is much stronger. Poison and Torment BOTH fit better then confusion, if tied to the Earth skills or even added to a changed up Serated Stones fit quite well for Poison and seeing its an Earth tree Torment could be doing damage because they are weighed down with something. So both conditions could easily be worked into ele, unlike Confusion.
Seeing as it would be ONE stack of confusion, with a 50% chance to proc it would still be doing alot less damage then if Torment procs on Mesmer Scepter which with 1,117 Condition damage does 2,951+2951 damage over 8 3/4seconds on a 12 second cool down and i am not even traited for Scepter cool downs or condition duration my damage comes from Confusion
I agree, currently being forced into Arcane tree and currently being forced into swapping Attunements every chance you get is doing serious damage to both the class and possible builds. They really messed up here, they should have made it so you COULD stay in 1 attunement.
Like if you wanted pure damage, you stay in Fire, want a little less damage but more mobility/control then you stay in Air, Water is if you need to be support and Earth if you are getting wailed on or want conditions (if Earth became a condition tree)

What if…
Burning precision: 100% chance on crit to apply 2 seconds of burning.
Diamond skin: +10% of your toughness as condition damage, cripple now deals damage over time.(or maybe cripple also adds poison?)
Shatterstone: also applies chill.
Blinding flash also applies 3 stacks of confusion for 3 seconds.
Impale applies 2 stacks of bleeding.
Gust also applies 4 stacks of confusion for 5 seconds.
Gale applies weakness and 5 stacks of confusion for 4 seconds.
Flamewall now applies 5 seconds of burning.
Fire shield(flame aura) applies 2s of burning instead of 1.
Dust devil applies 4 stacks of confusion for 2 seconds
Would that be enough to give us a condition build?
I dont think it would, the problem remains:
Forced into changing Attunemtns to make the most of them
Attunement swap cool down too high
Confusion doesnt suit Ele what so ever, it doesnt even suit Engi but thats another post in another thread. So all the confusion would need to be replaced with something else. if a new Attunement is out of the question then i think:
Fire: Burning, Vul
Water: Chill,
Air: Blind, Immobilize, Weakness
Earth: Bleeding, Torment, Poison, Cripple
Burning and Vul suit fire, i mean armor could be melted off thus weakened. chill is obvious for water but thats about it. Air suits Blind, Weakness and Immobilize Earth is obvious as well with just Poison and Torment added
Having access to 2 damaging conditions in 2 separate trees is just not enough to be able to make a condition build around. The traits are another area that just screen “dont make condition builds” due to the overall lack of condition traits
Though i prefer my “Arcane” Attunement idea which is posted in the suggestions forum if you are interested
I have a human mesmer with a condition-build and mainly Rabid-gear.
I am pretty satisfied with him, but I really, REALLY regret not making him an Asura. There is just something about Asura mesmers. I feel they are the true mesmers, maybe because they way they look and act. Sneaky kittens
The problem with Asura is most light armor looks terrible on them, you see Khilbrons helm on them? its terrible lol
and what about Engineers? Warriors can even have better condition builds as well. The biggest problem is the fact that 2 of the 4 attunements have no damaging conditions and the other 2 have 1 in each. Forcing you to jump around the Attunements.
Just make a “Arcane” Attunement for conditions and a bit of tweaking balancing result = Ele have a viable condition build.
i dont think so… pets in this game have their own stats, they dont even proc traits with chance etc, rune proc is similar to it, but you can give it a try if you want

Its a mix between Khilbrons, Winged and Whispers armor appearance, all Rabid (condition/Toughness/Precision) The sword was used in a previous build, the appearance hasnt changed ^^
So the Perplexity 6/6 gives stacks of confusion when interrupting a skill. This got me to thinking Glyph of Elemental Elite one has the Air elemental that stuns, Anyone know if the stun from this can proc the 6/6 rune?
lol you guys have no idea.. i will try to get some nice footage when i get home… i have destroyed every power ele i have come across along with all the other condi spam builds. perma burning and confusion .. the 2 best condis in game with huge uptimes… it is ridiculous … and the build is just 0-0-20-20-30 with apothecary

3) Lets make it interesting, 3 sec channel new condition every 0,5 sec that you’re hit by the breath: STUN – 0,5 sec -> CRIPPLE – 2 sec -> TORMENT – 3 stacks 6 sec -> BLEED – 3 stacks 10 sec -> POISON – 5 sec -> BURNING – 4 sec
4) Mesmer Chaos storm
5) Good idea, would love the bleeding to be torment to further avoid bleed caps, or split 2 torment 3 bleed to make cleansing harder

Yeah i took some ideas from other classes on how they deal conditions, changed the appearance though to be darker versions of skills the Ele already has to make it still seem ele.
Yeah the Necro Scepter Auto is a pretty solid skill, of course the ele version wouldnt be as strong, i mean a constant Poison being applied via a auto attack chain? O.o
I was thinking more of Mirror Blade then the Staff auto, due to the fact that it would have a cool down and such so not spam-able
An interesting idea i personally would remove cripple and bleeding. Poison, Burning and Torment would be pretty solid as well as a AoE interrupt but would have a smaller range and radius then some of the AoE interrupts out there.
Dont really see it, as while IN the ring they wont be getting conditions, its just when they enter or exit.

Yea, they brought it out at Christmas time. Give might and fury on heal from memory. As well as 15% boon duraiton

Ah ok, the confusion was that I assumed you meant removing conditions from the other attunements.
Yeah you could even go further:
Fire + Arcane = using these 2 trees would mean access to conditions and decent/good damage.
Air + Arcane = Using these 2 tress would give access to control, Stuns and movement as well as conditions
Water + Arcane = Using these 2 trees would give access to damaging controls and control (chill) as well as healing
Earth + Arcane = you would be able to swap to Earth when they try to nuke you, still having access to slight conditions but the importance of the toughness to save you.
So you could trait depending on how you want to play, Going Earth and Conditions would be a bunker/Condition build, Going Water/Conditions would be a support+condition build
As stated, the other trees would need to be tweaked here and there, but i think it could work. i would basically mean having 2 trees that you use the most rtaher then being to jump through hoops for conditions and such you could pick what tree other then Arcane you want to concentrate on.
Dont like bunkers? split between Support, control or damage
Dont like healing? Split between Bunker, control or damage
For example.
Then we would pretty much have a version of Weapon swapping. No one uses the same range weapons on both sets, though our range wouldnt change what we could do in them would so we wouldnt be forced with ONLY using conditions after burst conditions, we could go fire and see if we can damage them into death for example or maybe into Earth and see if we can outlast them
And seeing that the vast majority of elementalist skill applications do apply conditions, I would think that is the goal.

Anyway, back to topic. Compared to last week Vabbi do seem more interested in WvW so have seen more of them recently. Personally havent seen that many Vabbi zergs but when they do happen, there was a few decent fights on WSR map the other night they seems pretty solid
They didnt all try and rush attack either, It was at Greenbair (iirc) thought it was quite good how they not only had the siege going but were doing very well of keeping people away from the tower. They must have had about 10 people SOLELY doing this
While they rest were covering the Siege (something i wish WSR would do!) instead of rushing off, they seemed very disciplined as well not falling for the “Chase us, Chase us” attempts either
I find all professions equal. But they are best in different areas.
Playing atm as one of the “useless” Rangers, I stoped counting how many times I destroyed that one siege killing Ballista, that one Keep hitting Trebuchet and such with my Longbow.
I roam mostly and it feels great. I play Mesmer, Thief, Ranger and Necro and see their strenghts and weaknesses in different areas. I myself can’t pick the “best” profession for WvW, for the best play happens at synergy of skill, playstayle and build.
Try ele, then see if you think all the professions are equal lol
I agree though that most (ele sucks!) professions all have their advantages and disadvantages for me

+Group Support
- Dies (Low health)
- Low damage
- Low conditions
- Low Threat solo
Mesmer:
+ Great solo
+ Team play (more support)
- Keep/Tower siege attack
- Low OOC speed (Only Focus)
-No 25% in combat speed buff
Thief:
+ Solo
+Fast map movement
+Alot of stealth for spying
- Team/Zerg fights
The lack of constant condition application would be it’s downfall. It would be like spiking a ton of conditions, which would synergize well with the upcoming white damage, but if the enemy removes them quickly, then you would have to wait a while in order to re-apply them.
Maybe allowing Fresh Air trait to temporarily allow you to switch to any attunement, and then on swap resume the cool down, would fix this.
I think the easiest fix for conditions would be to simply move damage and CD numbers on skills across the board, and have them add conditions. Boring fix though.
The possible skills listed are my own, i am sure that Anet could come up with some better and more balanced ones. It wouldnt exactly be a lack of constant ones as if you are a Condition build you would spend most of you time in the “Arcane” Attunement anyway.
The Attunement swap i think should be 10seconds anyway from a base point. With a Autoattack that is conatbtly applying them (like Necro Scepter) it would still be enough i think for the Build. The cool downs for the skills would need to be balanced to make sure they are neither to low or to high
ArmageddonAsh, stop claiming FoW only Zergs and has no skilled players. We hold your scrubs Zerg with 2 ppl for hours. Then you Zerged up like crazy and still executed it awfully (the pre attack on canons was a good idea, but happened too early). The golems where left allone on the gate, they even pushed in. Apperently they didn’t realize what was happening, while half of your Zerg tried to fight in AC Arrow rain and the other half flew the scenery. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Based on the names of the guilds, i am not shocked that you managed to hold them – most of them guilds are PvE guilds that rarely do any WvW, guess they finally got bored of the LS events. I saw like 100 people and 7 commanders doing some, none of the commanders i have ever seen in WvW :/
“You” – not really, as stated they were mostly a bunch of PvE guilds. Quite a few of the so called commanders have blocked me, so it would have been pointless me saying anything any way.
They seem to think that having commander means they are suddenly a good player. When they tried taking Brast i told them that it was going fail, i told them to defend Langor as it was our only way to get Keep back as Brast was heavily sieged and defended
His reply “I am the commander, stop telling everyone what to do” at this point he went on to command TWO failed attempts at getting it, me and a few others held off Langor while calling for help and AFTER Langor finally fell they blamed ME for it at which point he blocked me saying “I hate people that try and disrupt the commander”
The reason our server fails most of the time when there is a zerg, is due to the number of clueless Commanders that think because they have “commanded” in PvE i didnt even think you could that suddenly it means they are good enough for WvW commanding.
So you beat a zerg of PvE players commanded by who was likely a PvE “Commander”…Congrats i guess.

The rewards for JPs are so negligible that I don’t think there is anything wrong with giving someone a free ride. Honestly, you could probably get more loot by fighting for that 1min instead of waiting for a mesmer to port you the the JP chest.
This is true. The rewards other then for Living Story puzzles are pretty pathetic and not even worth it anyway so i dont see it really being that much of a problem, if it ALL gave level 80 precursers and Exotics then maybe but currently no.
The problem currently, is they cant do a condition build they have 2 conditions, split between 2 trees, you go Air means you lose both, you go water you lose both and you can only have one at a time NO class could make a condition build work on this.
Yeah i agree with the f5 being an issue, i am not quite sure another away around it. Unless you with with pure traits for it, which would again be the Arcane tree with moving a few things around. If Arcane was going to be the condition tree it would need either Condition damage or Condition duration swapped with Boon duration.
The problem is that currently you are FORCED into changing attunement. No matter the build, no matter the weapon you have NO choice but to swap attunements this alone is the WRONG way they designed the class in my opinion.
Most of the “high damage” skills for example Churning Earth have to long a cast time and to long a cool down, its to easy dodge Churning Earth thanks to the insane cast time.
I would see it has:
Fire – More Burst damage
Air – Movement, Damage
Earth – Low damage but takes hits
Water – High support
Arcane – Conditions
In it’s current state a Condition build just cant be done, damage is to low, not enough conditions for damage and pressure.
They could remove the conditions from the other Attunements, adjust damage to compensate and make F5 the ONLY tree for condition damage. They could have it so that other trees offer boons/ control conditions such as Vul, Weakness and such but keep the pure damaging conditions in F5
The problem with all the powerful attacks is – how easy they are to dodge, i dont think i have ever been hit by Churning Earth for example. So while they are powerful they can be dodged or even had CC used while they are casting.

Guess where they all are…Living Story. My server had more then 100 people doing them the other night and had like 7 commanders NONE of whom i had seen in WvW…EVER.
How long ago was that picture taken? Its been a while since i saw many people from some of them guilds even in WvW. Also, i didnt say that on occasion WSR doesnt have a small zerg, its very rare more so recently but it used to happen every now and then.
They’d need to add an arena or something.
It could be fun, but in the open world it would just slow everyone’s computer down.

An example of Staff skills:
1) Chaotic Chain (Dark version of Lightening Chain) – Hit multiple foes dealing damage and inflicting random conditions
2) Chaos Burst(Dark version of Flame Burst) Damage and inflict conditions at to the target and nearby enemies
3) Chaotic Geyser (Dark version of Geyser) – Deal damage and infliction conditions to those at target location, lasts 5 seconds
4) Chaotic Aura – Block the next attack, inflict Torment on Blocked attack, lasts 2 seconds
5) Chaos Shower (Dark version of Meteor shower) call down a dark storm, targets take damage and are inflicted by conditions each time they are hit – each hit deals splash damage
I think just a simple 10 Skill points = 1 Scroll would be enough. Sure could add things like Wine, Ancient log but not Globs.

In my opinion for PURE rewards/gold you dont want to be going solo, staying with a zerg and stream rolling (if its a good zerg) everything will net you more XP, more WXP, more rewards and easier completion of some of the daily tasks

I can 1Vs1 people, i can sometimes 1Vx people as well, along with taking camps, taking out gaurds, killing Dolyaks

Thieves>Necromancer>Mesmer>Guards>Rangers>Warrior>Engineers>Ele
This is Solo, Small groups and zergs all vary on size, composition and such so its harder to define for that though all you have to do is have access to AoE, i would put Thief lower due to that reason alone
Ele is perfectly fine right now. The issue is that a lot of players came to Ele when it was completely OP. Now that it is more balanced, those people are complaining because it is no longer OP.
“Balanced” it cant do condition builds, it cant do power builds it seems the only builds it can do are Support/healing and bunker. What about those of us that dont want to play a healer or want to play a bunker…
Personally i LOVE the staff skin, it might even be my favorite in the WHOLE game. You are simply finding something offensive for no reason at all. After all it is a GAME.
The game talks about about gods, now they are as real as all the fictional gods in the real world does that upset me? No. Because i know it is only a game.
