We have WvW implement castle building like in AA but then in a more GW2 WvW setting. Put in guild dungeons where you can earn (so no buying with gems as that removes the game element) many of the rewards you can put in that castle. The castle can also be a sort of guild-hall. Stuff like that would make guilds more interesting to invest in. And it would simply be more fun!
You mean a guild hall?
The problems with adding lots of tools to deal with an underlying issue are:
It becomes difficult to learn/understand the guild system.
It still doesn’t change guilds being more of event rostas.
I’d agree the mentality is reminiscent of when there was no LFG tool.
More guild oriented content needed for sure. Particularly harder more rewarding content. suitable for groups of 5-15. Even in a mega-guild of 400-500, it can be difficult getting more than that together because of timezones.
The cost of buffs prohibits smaller, single timezone guilds too.
Maybe rebalance the size (500 cap) and the cost of buffs would be a suitable option? Would make management of a guild much easier, freeing up more time for leaders to enjoy playing the game with their guildies.
- Our guild, for socializing, casual play.
- Personal storage.
- RP guild: for those who care about such things.
- WvW guild; our guild doesn’t do this regularly.
- Dungeon guild: for those who like to speed clear.
- Cooperative-event guild: for those who want to hit Teq, 3H Worm, and/or special event instances together.
- Friend from RL: there might be 10 who can only play 2-3 days a month and not belong to any of those other guilds.
first: you can do that in any group of people.
RP needs a guild? ok. each to their own. I know plenty of guilds who liked to have a theme in gw1.
WvW raids.. Basically an event roster. Could organize these via server forums and make them less of an exclusive club. But I know my opinion differs to many on this one. (but then a lot of people insist WvW or scrub. (though making it so you can only be in a single guild would make servers work together as a server, not as isolated little cliches.
Dungeons.. Well why can’t a casual guild also have good dungeon runs? You’re saying casual = bad?
Cooperative events.. these are done by pugs (even 3head wurm on eu servers) Why do you need a guild dedicated to that?
But, you can’t represent if you are offline (whether truly offline or only cosmetically), so you can’t get the buffs. I’m not sure what the problem is with the buffs.
Being offline HIDES weather you’re repping or not.
This happens quite a lot. Not that people like to admit doing it.
And the problem is, those buffs cost (however you wish to look at it, influence is a currency). Having those buffs available when you feel like is a commodity (it also takes time from guild leaders to activate and build them).
Why should 1 person get to have that luxury when it suits, but expect another to pay for it for them? Its highly selfish. Selfish people =/= good guildies.
And yes, I know I could just kick them, but that doesn’t encourage loyalty, it just breeds resentment. catch-22.
The problem is, when people can hide as offline, how does one tell who is leeching, and who isn’t? – you can’t.
How exactly is a leader meant to observe every member 24/7? leaders are real people, with real lives too! – They also want to play the game, not have a second job.
I would rather quality members of quantity myself (As i said, I struggle to know everyone in a guild with a 500 cap, let alone get to know people in FIVE of them..), but the influence cost of buffs basically says: mega zerg guild or no buffs. Also influence is way slower since they nerfed the world boss chains. As much as i found them boring and annoying that the best loot was something so mindless, it was also a huge influence revenue.
But the cost of buffs is another topic I plan on putting in the guild CDI when its open.
Don’t these ‘leechers’ have to represent the Guild to receive the buffs? If they are representing the Guild, are they not generating influence? If they are generating influence, how can they be labeled as ‘leechers’?
They can leech guild missions. They can also take advantage of the buffs when it suits them, while others have to rep 100% to be able to pay for them. I’ve even had some people like that tell me I should convert gold into influence to maintain the buffs for them.
Whut didn’t I already post in this topic? Pretty sure I did.
Well.. Search didn’t give anything when I checked. Some of those ideas i would love to see. I’m not going to pick out every single one I like but, more control over rank permissions, ability to view individual guildies influence, Being able to leave in-game notes about a member for other officers could be very handy. These 3 ideas caught my attention the most.
You have a friends list for that.
Guild =/= friend list.
Edit: With guilds so large, its difficult to know everyone in a single guild, let alone 5.
Also, That is why we need alliances. To allow guilds with some specialization to work together.
Maybe something a bit more versatile than the gw1 alliance system.
Allow allied guilds to view rosters ( for contacting another guilds officers).
Maybe do away with the alliance leader concept, and make each guild have equal right to allow guilds to join. Vote kick similar to parties (accessible by leader assigned permissions maybe).
This would allow guilds to work together more easily, and allow members to join an allied guild for different content. While still allowing them to contribute to their own guilds influence, and benefits that come with that influence pool.
I’m sure this could be refined further, but ultimately, it allows people to feel truly part of a guild, rather than part of a random bunch of people on a list.
The question I hear a lot is: why should i have to rep if that person doesn’t?
Why do I have to contribute to these buffs/consumables (gms etc) if they don’t have to, but can use them when they want?
Simple fact is, those people aren’t really part of the guild, but more like leeches. It encourages people to only look out for themselves. That isn’t a guild.

@Esplen, As opposed to your ploy, to exploit guilds when it suits you? You want someone else to do all the work, and have many banquet tables laid out for you, without contributing to any of them. This is the point of view that makes me dislike the multiple guild system.
Why does one need a guild specifically for world bosses/temples? You show up at scheduled spawn and AA.
Why does one need a guild that is a glorified place to spam “LFG DUNGEON NOW PLZ!” go pug on the LFG system. Which people do if it takes more than a few minutes to get people anyway.
That for me isn’t a guild. I don’t consider people who non-rep frequently to be “in my guild”. They are more like mercenaries at best.
100% rep only exists because people can rep another guild, rather than having to leave to join another guild. This just makes it easy for those who wish to exploit buffs/GMs/Free stuff in guild banks etc.
What you describe is:
1: a buff factory (including GMs).
2: an event roster. Be it dungeons, world bosses, Whatever.
Edit: Where someone else does the work to organize those for you.
@ Draknar, Nope, shows you as offline in all lists, including guild rosters.
I would personally much rather see an alliance system like gw1, over this multiple guild system.
Many guilds ask for 100% rep, but people are just appearing offline so they can use that guild when it suits them (defeating the idea of fellowship).
This is a thing? Been playing since release and this is the first I’ve heard of being able to be basically hidden while online. Please explain how to do this.
its in the friends list, theres the green square for online.. set to the grey square for offline, it wont show rep.
Guilds. (seems like my original thread got removed, for some unknown reason).
I bring these topics up because the CDI for guilds was recently announced.
To me, a guild is a group of players bound by fellowship.
Guilds in gw2 seem to fall into 2 categories:
• Buff factories
• Event rosters. (teq/3headed wurm)
GW2 allows players to “be in” multiple guilds. In reality this just makes roaming in a 1-man guild more rewarding than being part of a guild (influence may be slower, but one can spend it how they like, EG guild vault for personal use).
The larger or mega- guilds out there just get used for buffs, GM’s and whatever else they give away. Often people are not interested in interacting with their guild mates. Sometimes faster to just fill a team with LFG than to wait for guildies to be done with what they are doing.
Many guilds ask for 100% rep, but people are just appearing offline so they can use that guild when it suits them (defeating the idea of fellowship).
I would love to see much more small instanced content (cough, dungeons) That are difficult and rewarding. Maybe using 2-3 parties, or larger parties (urgoz,ab for example).
• What does A-net think a guild is?
• What do the players thing a guild is?
• Why should I as a player choose to be in a guild at all?
• Where is my guild hall!?
Arena net,
You recently announced there would be a CDI on guilds. For me this is great news. However:
• What does arena net think the purpose of a guild is?
• What does the player base think the purpose of a guild is?
• (Where the heck is my guild hall!?)
For me it’s about a group of players bound of fellowship. Brothers and sisters in arms, hardened together in battle.
However a guild in gw2 feels more like 1 of 2 things:
• A buff factory.
• An event roster for teq/3headed wurm.
LFG system means you need a LOT of dungeon runners in your guild to be worth the time it takes to form a party(otherwise you’re taking pugs, who happen to share your guild tag)
- Side topic: dungeons are too easy and often allow for pugs to do a slow but easy way boring.
Returning to guilds:
Multiple guilds completely break the idea of fellowship for me. A player doesn’t have to invest in being part of something.
The multi guild system makes it very attractive to have private 1-man guilds (of which I have 2.). This makes people want to break off from a guild and roam completely solo.
Being isolated is almost as rewarding as working as a group
(Influence is slower, but you get to spend it yourself). This makes gw2 feel very anti-social.
• It is so easy to solo or pug content that guilds feel pointless. Even in WvW, things have to be organized at server level (for tier 1 anyway). Making which guild I choose to represent seem irrelevant.
So to reiterate my original questions:
What does arena net think the purpose of a guild is?
• What does the player base think the purpose of a guild is?
• (Where the heck is my guild hall!?)
Often I (and fellow guildies) find upon logging in we are unable to initially send whispers. It seems to be a delay of up to 30 minutes when attempting to whisper. Anyone else having this issue? Is A-net aware of or working on this?
So MYTH just attempted quaggan paddle in a frostgorge sound overflow.
Entire guild crashed.
anet please investigate.
pc spec:

pre patch fps sample:
Quiet town:150-250.
Busy town:130-180
WvW allies only: 50-90
WvW 60v60v60:25-50
Boss events eg teq:25-50
POST patch:
Quiet town:100-140
Busy town:80-130
WvW allies only: 40-60
WvW 60v60v60:10-40
Boss events eg teq:10-35
note: these frame rates are approximations and obviously there is some room for variation. FPS monitored using fraps
However there is a significant reduction in the FPS I achieve post patch.
Clearly this patch has broken something in the frame rendering.
Guys: put family and work and all that first. This is a game, it’s ok, you can always try out new things like dungeons, PvP, WvW, etc. Or on weekends and holidays you can do all events any time.
Many of us are. And do not wish to be limited to 2-3 bosses in the short time in the evening we can play.
I have to admit that since the patch I almost never do world events. I did tequatl and wurm once, and tried out fire elemental, behemoth and jormag. The reason for me not doing them is only because I do not like waiting for them to spawn. I used to guest on BG and time all events so I would have to invest minimum amount of time and skip the boring pre events.
If you didnt do them before, then they cant get any worse for you anyway.
However, even though I had to change my play style since this patch, I do like it. I think it’s not fair that me and whoever else was guesting on BG or other big servers had a huge advantage over those who were new or on lower servers but didn’t want or didn’t know how to guest. This made it more fair for everyone.
It’s not fair you know the game better than a noob?
OMG you poor noobs, you are disadvantaged!! – enough said.
And about “it is schedule world and not living world anymore”. Come on let’s be honest. Everyone used gw2stuff or similar API/website for world events. So it wasn’t that living after all. Because if there was no way to see when the events are active then barely no one would do them except guild groups.
yeah, they did. They didn’t have to go to the SAME boss EVERY day, at the SAME time simply because they can only log in for an hour or two.
They say variety is the spice of life. Sadly GW2 is bland and tasteless.
Gosh please don’t give A-net more ideas for gemstore goofball ideas.
As for the boss schedule, I have no desire to only have access to a small set of bosses. Especially with that hideous diminishing returns imposed.
I got bored with world bosses, champ trains, and dungeons.
I don’t have any understanding of why reducing how many of those i can do is going to make me more interested in them..
My desire to do temples is now gone as I will get almost no loot from any of the mobs, and the end chest has pretty dire diminishing returns on it.
Also scaling is terrible and many bosses take longer with more players, and i have no desire to watch a bunch of people spamming 1 because they: don’t know how to; cant be bothered to do anything else.
And I’m burning out on Spvp and WvW too as there is nothing else to do.
The concept of in-game variety/choice, and fascist “you will enjoy ALL of my game” has been mixed up in the A-net dictionary. Is Anet ran by north koreans now?
People have been asking for more content to do, not restrictions on what little content there already is. Which is what this patch has done.

Tequatl DPS groups
There are several key roles within a tequatl DPS group, its not just zerg to win ( or mash 1).
Any consumables such as mortars and fire elemental powders are very helpful (save fire elemental powder for final stun phase).

The first group is the reflect team.
This consists of 5 guardians with Wall of reflection, and ‘stand your ground’. The third utility can left up to each person’s preference. For the elite I would recommend tome of wrath.
Gear for reflect team should be soldiers (PVT) or clerics (HP, P, T). Weapons are personal preference, though staff is a good choice.
The key responsibility of this group is to maintain a single wall of reflection, 100% of the time. This excludes battery and burn phase. Each guardian should put up their wall of reflection as the preceding wall is about to end. Order can be defined by the team leader, who will also be responsible for calling out when to use these walls.
These walls will protect the DPS group from AoE poison from fingers (and kill said fingers), as well as certain other projectile attacks such as tequatls breath attack. When reflected this will apply significant amounts of damage to tequatl.
During battery phase I like to have the reflect team go to north battery to stomp grub holes, kill grubs, kill hylec, and then clear whatever is left.
WEG (Warrior Elementalist Guardian) groups.
This section was mostly written by Isis Gebnut who has been doing most of the organization for these groups.
Elementalist
WEG Ele’s focus on dropping Conjure Weapons off cool down and AOE healing when called for into DPS zerg
Please slot a water staff and skills Arcane Brilliance, Cleansing Fire, Arcane Wave, Conjure Frost Bow, Conjure Fiery Great sword
Use Healing Rain with Arcane Brilliance or Arcane Wave during battery phase for blast finishers and healing. Can also be done while in DPS zerg if we have mobs around us or on fingers close by.
Cleansing Fire are for condition removal if we need it. Hopefully the turrets and reflect teams will do their jobs and we won’t need it.
Warriors
WEG Warriors Please slot any weapons with knockbacks and any skills with knockbacks, fears and Immobilize as well as Battle Standard for mass revive while at DPS zerg and battery phase.
Guardians
WEG Guardians -We need lots of Stability so Stand Your Ground and Hallowed Ground are great and will also need Wall of Reflection while in DPS Zerg to stop those fingers dropping poison on us.
Please place them to the right and left of us in front of the fingers.
Emergency response Team (ERT)
This group’s main responsibility is to relocate to any area that is having difficulty, EG shipwreck gets overrun with additional mobs. This group will need to be a balanced party, all in teamspeak to be able to respond quickly.[/b]
I thought the server time was affected by us daylight savings. I remember it being really confusing for a few weeks with our GM.
Anyway, yeah the shift makes established events tricky, while frankly no one really wants to do the wurm because it’s so much work training and teaching people how to do content we aren’t even sure how to approach ourselves. Especially when it proves to be be like pulling crocodile teeth to find volunteers for keystone type roles during these events.
Also many don’t see the rewards for succeeding in these tougher encounters as worth the effort invested, compared to the trains. Same issue with harder dungeons vs a string of easy ones.
Would be nice to not have to spoon feed how to do something to lazy people, but this isn’t the place for that discussion.
Hopefully a good middle ground can be reached, sooner rather than later.
The several gold in repair costs is over the past several weeks & several dozen/hundred events.
Along with missing out on a lot of event rewards (which includes karma, exp, wxp, and item losses).
lesser times it is just skill lag or rubber banding, but often times it’s more as if the server and the client are out of sync by several minutes (guildies tell me an event is finished, and boss still has 50% health for me, for example).
It strikes me that Anet has some kind of impact limiting code in place, meaning the majority get perfect play, but the unlucky few get to ‘enjoy’ this terrible experience during high server load.
Well it looks like my original thread got deleted for highlighting the dirty state of gw2 at the moment.
So new thread:
When is anet fixing the dirty lag ruining the game?
Will anet be compensating me for the several gold lost in missing event rewards, armor costs, and other event associated losses?
Chances are: no chance! anet have become money grabbing.
Real shame, gw2 had soo much potential, but they have wasted it.
/waits for thread delete & forum ban
Sources of these statements?
So when will arena net be fixing the lag that has been occurring lately?
I’ve missed out on a fortune in event rewards, loot, wxp,, event chests, and incurred a fortune in repair costs due the lag.
Now I’m sure someone is going to be a bright spark and tell me to get a better pc/better internet.
1) my pc can run gw2 ( on maximum settings), WoW ( on maximum settings), gw1 (on maximum settings), play music/play films, simultaneously and not have issue.
2) 100mb fibre optic broadband line with a ping of under 300ms to pretty much anywhere in the world.
Thus it can be concluded that the problem is server-side.
Given that the lag has only been occurring for the past few weeks, I’d say either the devs broke something while tinkering, or A-net never made the gw2 infrastructure to cope with inevitable summer demand.
Sadly gw2 support are decidedly deaf to my support questions. Hopefully A-net will post some form of a response here, with my grievance made public.
Will A-net be fixing the lag problems any time soon?
Will A-net be compensating players who’ve missed out on things in game due to the lag?
Over to you A-net.
