Yeah, so, I have this guild that I started Day 1 of Head Start for Guild Wars 2’s Launch, and it needs some members.

History:
It originally was a sub-guild for my GW1 guild to band together in while we waited for the Guild Leader to get into the game and make our actual guild. Sadly, due to a lot of reasons, the Guild Leader stopped playing the game, the members all scattered – though a few of us still play together in various other games and are still good friends, but now I’m basically left with this empty guild.

As much as I’d like to give it up and just join another one, I’ve put some serious time into building it up. I feel good about the process I’ve done so far, but I think its time that I look for some other’s that might need a guild that’s pretty much ready for the expansion.

I say pretty much, because its not fully decked out yet. Here’s what I got done:

Upgrades:
Politics: Rank V out of VI
Art of War: Rank V out of VI
Economy: Rank V out of VI
Architecture: Rank V out of VI

Image to show current upgrades:
http://i.imgur.com/UNWGgY0.png

Goals:
With Heart of Thorns around the corner, the excitement to play the game grows stronger as well, and I’m finally going to try to take a crack at increasing the ranks of my guild.

Ideally, getting the ranks to Rank VI would be the best – that way, we would have access to all the Guild Hall upgrades that are coming, for free, to guilds that have decked their upgrade sections out. However, with less than a month until HoT launch, and with the ranks being essentially just me at the moment, I’m just glad its at Rank V and probably won’t mind it if we missed out on that.

Another thing, I want to keep this guild as a casual friendly guild. By that, I mean I won’t enforce certain stat types for every situation, or whatever. I personally stick to the best I can do, and strive to do that for the class I play, but asking – or telling – others to do the same isn’t my style. As long as there’s fun being had, then that’s fine by me. Example of this, I always see in the LFG’s a ton of requirements for parties. Usually my party searches are something along the lines of “FOTM Lv X casual run” or something – X being level number. I try to give the option for those that just want to play, rather than sift through the “PLS BE EXP AND KNOW THE DUNGEON” listings.

Ah, also, if this seems like a real casually written out Guild Recruitment post, that’s because it is. Essentially The Cats Who Perhaps [Meow] is a one-man army right now, so it just seems better to describe it like this. Idk lol.

Lastly, for guild size, I’m not holding any hopes, so if it stays a small guild of just a few people or grows to the size of a large guild, that’s more than enough. 5 people is enough for dungeons after all, and even with Raids, one could simply just look for another full party. I wouldn’t mind working towards the goal of eventually doing the raids, but that seems a little far off right now. Who knows, maybe I’m wrong!

I think that about covers it, so, if anyone is interested, comment here, send me a message here or in-game. I might not be on sometimes, but the guild is always looking.
Oh, I can also be reached at my Tumblr link in my signature.
Cheers!

"Life Shroud" and utilities, what about DS?

Their mechanic is much more similar to the Berserk mode of warrior than to Death Shroud.

Berserker mode for Warrior doesn’t change your skills though, it only makes it easier to use adrenaline attacks if I’m not mistaken.

Druid completely changes weapon and alters glyph skills. It also has a life bar that drains as skills are used. That makes it more like DS than Berserker Mode.

Just wondering this, but with Gliding coming in HoT, will the Arcane Outfit get fixed?

As it stands, when walking around you can sometimes see the line where the legs just stop, but with gliding you can see it clear as day(I remember from beta.. -.-). Right now, all I have to do is auto-run and move my camera and I can see it. I like the outfit, but it does a good job at standing out. You can notice it sometimes when dodging, but my main concern is while gliding.

Example of it while auto-running:

Because currently, there are no ascended recipes for trinkets. There’s no Insignia or Inscription equivalent.

When and if they decide to give us ascended jewelry, then there may be ways to change stats on them.

There could supplement it with something to be honest. Like the gift of ascension or something. >.< I see your point though.

The accessories are mostly a mix of 2 sets of stats. They would need another recipe for them… or allow 5 items in the toilet

Well I wasn’t talking about the accessories as a whole, just the back pieces. Most of the trinkets(amulet, accessories and rings in particular) are static items that don’t allow you to choose the stat type when right clicking it unlike some of the back pieces.

The exception being that some people had magic find rings from before the MF removal from stats. Why would they need 5 slots in the toilet though? They could simply add the recipes in. It would be similar to the blades back piece where you could infuse it before or after you chose your desired colour. It would just be an added, constant available extra step. lol

Considering they don’t have a every stat set currently for the trinkets at the ascended level they dont have the same easy system to change things hence why they probably will make something different in the future, but until then nothing.

What stat types are they missing that both weapons and armor have?

Ascended Stat change recipe question for Anet

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ArtemusHunter.9521

The new recipe to change the stats is really cool, but why just armor and weapons? I can see why the amulets, rings and accessories don’t have it, because they are more or less easier to get verses the rest of the Ascended items, but the back piece seems to fit more in the same department of the other items(armor/weapons).

While it doesn’t take as long to get it(depending on the back piece you’re going for tbh), it sure is more of daunting task than say getting any of the other trinkets. One could argue that the amulet and accessories fit that same description, but then again, one could always join an oversized guild and just do guild missions to get those slots in the desired stat combos.

I, personally, have no issue using exotics, and I have my mawdrey currently without stats, so its not like I don’t have access to w.e stat I want currently for that slot. It just seems like its an inconvenience and I was wondering if it was thought about in the decision making of the recipe – and if so, why it didn’t get considered to be a part of the recipe. Was it limitations or some bug that showed up if you allowed it?

lol I hope I’m not the only one that is thinking this.

Edit: And I just tried to select stats on mawdrey.. No sinister.. Dang :/ I guess I gotta start making a back piece now..

They are replacing it, however many of the old traits will still be there. They said that they are dropping some of the crappier ones and adding s few new ones and reworking a few, and the system will not be the same by any means but the general lines of traits will be the same or very similar

Ah, thanks. I wish they had been a bit more clear on that on the blog posts. Didn’t see anything like that in them when I read them.. maybe I missed something. lol

[Suggestion] Looking For Guild

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ArtemusHunter.9521

This would be a good idea imo. I’ve seen this in Tera and imo it works.

I would add that they should initially, upon opening of the UI, show guilds who’s home world the player is in. So if you’re looking for a guild, and your on Sea of Sorrows, it would show guilds that have the home world option set to Sea of Sorrows first. From there, you could adjust the filters to w.e one pleases and have a check box that says “Show Home World Guilds First”

Edit: I still believe that Guild spam would be a thing though, but this option is a very good one none the less.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t go on after the part of complaining about leveling. The only thing I can think of that doesnt give you xp or levels in this game is roleplaying…

I can actually think of an RP situation that gains you a level.
Step one: Have a Tome of Knowledge
Step two: Insert that you plan on ‘reading this Tome you found during your travels’ into which ever chat you’re using for RP
Step three: Use the tome and gain a level.
Step four: continue RP-ing or w.e.. Idk, I don’t RP but I could assume that this could be how its done. lolol

New to GW2 have a few questions.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ArtemusHunter.9521

If Angry Joe was the reviewer that made you want to try the game, you should know that his review is horribly outdated.

This is true. Even his discussion on the PAX expansion announcement wasn’t good. Dude was talking as if he knew how the game was but admitted that he stopped playing before any living world installment.

Tip for the newbie: Explore everything. Let yourself mindlessly run into hearts(basically quests but not quite the same) and dynamic events. If one pops up on your map or the top right corner of your screen, go to it and help out. The experience from Dynamic Events are really good.

Don’t worry about dungeons right away, they don’t start until level 30(but at level 25, the game sends you mail telling you that the first one is coming up). Most dungeon runners in the LFG do 80 only runs, but you can start your own party or even ask map chat to help you out in getting you through story mode. There’s hard modes of them with three different paths called Explorable Mode. All the dungeons work in this way.

Also, if you end up joining a guild(which is highly recommended for specific gear later since its easier to get with a guild), you can always ask them for tips and help. Map chat and Guild chat can be very helpful and most people in this game are nice guys and gals.

Hope this helps!

'Preview of In-Game Camera' misinformation

“We’ve got a number of new options to show you—collision detection, first-person camera, field of view, horizontal camera position, and more!”

Horizontal Camera Position slider already exists in the game. Its under the camera rotation speed slider. You can’t add a feature to a game if it already exists in the game, you can only improve upon it.

So that makes me wonder if that was a typo considering the information going around the net now about a vertical camera position slider or if its being improved upon—which if thats the case, ArenaNet, your wording of it is still wrong. “Horizontal camera position improvements” or “Vertical camera position” One or the other as the current is wrong and what most are posting about it is also wrong because of it.

It sounds great, looking forward to testing it out. Should be a massive help for looking at new dyes and deciding if I want to make a purchase, rather than the hassle of looking in the TP, right clicking to try and put the dye in the right spot, ect.

Funny that there was a suggestion thread just a few days ago asking for this very thing, and now here it is. Not to insinuate that they actually managed to see that suggestion and get it done that fast (as awesome as that would be), I’m sure its been in the works for a while, but a nice coincidence that the timing of the two matched up so well.

People have more than likely been asking for this since wardrobe was introduced to the game. Or even further back to the CDI discussions on QoL stuff. I think its probably safe to say that’s how long it might of been in the works. Probably just had a lot of unexpected bugs to work out.

Its gonna help out soo much though. Especially with seeing the new dyes and trying to get dyes just right if you were, to say, be aiming to match an NPC’s colour scheme.

[Suggestion] Reduce max level from 80 to 20.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArtemusHunter.9521

ArtemusHunter.9521

If you never played GW1, then you should. Its a great game. That being said, its in no way balanced at all for PvP – which seems to be one of their current main focus’ with all the tournaments going on. Its easier to balance 8 classes than it is to balance.. what, 72 if you include all class match ups and single classes? The balance would be so much worse. Then there’s how they’d do skills for multi-class characters…

Then the bugs that it would bring.. It would be a whole fiasco of problems.

As for Leveling to 80.. I don’t really see an issue with it. It doesn’t actually take long to do. I personally prefer to level in Edge of the Mists – that way I’m leveling up my character AND my account WvW level. It feels like I accomplish more doing that, and you can have some good and/or funny conversations in chat. It’s a lot better than leveling via crafting or map completing in my opinion.

Also, the game isn’t gonna fail. For that to be so, it would of had to of been shutdown in the year it launched. They’ve been doing this since 2012 – though its been improved over the years – and similarly been focusing on the same aspects of ‘end game’ since GW1. It worked for years in GW1 and its working in GW2, so their focus wont ever change. GW2 isn’t going anywhere any time soon. That’s just a fact. Unless someone goes directly to Anet’s servers and destroy’s them that is.

I don’t actually believe that the game will fail. There are too many loyal fans myself included for that. That said, there could be so many more if they stopped trying to play at 2 opposing end goals.

To address your pvp concern, there is a very simple solution. Advanced classes would be limited or restricted altogether in structured pvp. Balance is something that is a tricky topic anyway. If all classes are exactly balanced with each other the game becomes boring. All classes need strengths and weaknesses and pvp needs to be balanced for the teams that should be playing alongside each other. Balancing for 1v1 isn’t the way to go.

EotM is a great place to level, but again, after 5 other characters it gets stale. Not to mention that you miss out on some good loot if you are stuck getting low level drops instead of possible ascended items or precursors or even level 80 crafting mats from those WvW levels.

I see them bringing in advanced classes in one way or another eventually, and working with 80 levels makes it all the more difficult to implement it in a mostly balanced way.

If, and its a big if, they added advanced classes, which I’m assuming are similar to the secondary classes in gw1(IE: I mained a necro in GW1 and could secondary any other class in, like warrior or mesmer to make a Necro/Mesmer or w.e), then it would probably be implemented in a similar fashion as it was in GW1.

In GW1, you needed to choose your secondary profession and you were locked into that second profession. You could go to a guy, and have him change you to another profession, but it wasn’t until you were able to Ascend that you would freely be allowed to change professions. When you started a new character, you were eventually presented with the choice between various secondary professions; based on your starting location(vanilla or various expansion startings). Problems would be we can’t Ascend without communing with the Old Gods – who are completely silent. It’s possible that could change one day, but it won’t – for sure – be happening any time soon.

The thing is, there was no additional level for the secondary profession. That being said, there wouldn’t be an issue with them working with 80 levels. You would probably get to choose early on, a secondary, then work with that as you level – changing it if need be by visiting someone. The problems with sub classes isn’t the levels but rather the idea of them in general for GW2. Imagine people running around with +600 power instead of +300 via traits. Secondary classes means that. It would work the way GW1 worked, and people would have access to most of the secondary professions trait lines – which would mean the stat increases. Then there’s the issue of skills and unique class f1-4 skills being altered(because if they’re not, that’s a missed opportunity), then they would have to balance those 72 class combo’s and all the skills.

There would be no time left for content to be made lol. Its trouble enough already; I highly doubt they’d add secondary classes.

Oh and I’m in the same books as you, 5 80’s, halfway to my 6th, but you don’t miss out on much loot wise. Yeah you don’t get the higher tiers but the mid tiers tend to sell for a lot more. After leveling two outside of and before edge, I still find it preferable over PvE map completing. If you’re doing edge for levels, then your goal isn’t really mats or drops anyways. :P

[Suggestion] Reduce max level from 80 to 20.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArtemusHunter.9521

ArtemusHunter.9521

This game isn’t, and has has never really been, about leveling. The only real point of it is so that you can learn your class as you level, but that’s not really all that important in GW2 and 20 levels is more than enough. My suggestion is that the level cap be reduced from 80 to 20. This would reduce the time it takes to level (which lets be honest. After 1 or 2 characters, leveling all the way to 80 gets as boring as watching paint dry, and I’m on number 6 now) while also adding the ability to more easily add new features such as an advanced or second class system. I never played GW1, but the level 20 max level sounds much better then the copy-paste 80 that currently exists.
Right now I feel like the game is trying to focus on 2 end games at the same time those being some gear treadmill(ascended) and some horizontal progression (rare skins/legendaries). Dividing your focus is a sure way to fail. I believe Anet needs to pick one and stick with it, and with this not being a traditional MMO, that focus needs to be the horizontal progression. Reducing the level cap enforces this path.
I know that there would be some hurdles to overcome with this change such as what to do with the personal story, but I feel like the game would be better off if it were done. I’d like to hear what everyone thinks about this. Please be courteous and thoughtful with your response so that we can make this game as good as it can be.

TLDR: Reduce the level cap from 80 to 20 because leveling is boring and that isn’t what this game is about.

If you never played GW1, then you should. Its a great game. Top tier stats with the option to freely switch the stats out on the fly. The skins should have effects and trails or something along those lines, but thats it.

They should also be obtained in the same way that current Legendaries are, but perhaps with having the option to get a precursor via achievements or something., as well as a random drop like current precursors.

Steam Overlay Issue

I’m having some issues with the steam overlay and a non-steam game.

I honestly don’t know if its an issue with the overlay or an issue with the game, but recently, as of sometime last night, I was playing Guild Wars 2 through Steam and when I went to the overlay and came back, I could no longer turn the camera in the game. I didn’t notice it was because of the overlay then, but I’ve tested it just a few minutes ago and it happens as soon as I go into and out of the overlay for the first time during the game session.

Everything else except turning works. Right clicking on items to bring up the item options menu works, dragging and lefting clicking things work, all key bindings for the game work.. Everything except turning the camera with the mouse. It also requires a restart of the game to fix. I’m also wondering if anyone else is experiencing it or if its just me.

Does this sound like a bug with the overlay or with GW2? I’ve posted this on a steam group discussion as well.

They put the tools in the gem store for a limited time. They have also reappeared less than a years wait before. In that time, they also introduce more tools. If what you’re looking for is just an unlimited tool, wait a little while and one will more than likely be introduced. If its a specific one, wait until the launch anniversity in late August/early September for a possible chance at it being in the gem store.

Also, they don’t have to think about whether or not you want both an outfit and an unlimited gathering tool. Its ultimately your decision to get the outfit over a tool, and you are unsatisified with the outfit and want the tool, its best to go to support and try to get a refund during the time that the tool is available. That way you still have a shot at getting the tool.

They(Anet) do think about these things, however, they also need to make money. If you can’t farm the gold to do this, you are more than likely going spend money on gems. They know this. They plan on this as their main source of income. They are not responsible for your decisions on the gem store, and as such, you should be more careful with your decisions in the future.

Halloween Event: a Broken Record

“This coming Tuesday, October 21, the Mad Realm returns with our annual Halloween release. On December 16, we’ll release our usual holiday-themed festivities with Wintersday. Both of these releases will feature the same content as last year but with refreshed rewards, giving you fun new festival-themed items to earn.”

So, no hope in Year 1 events like Reapers Rumble or Ascent to Madness returning. I had really hoped they would listen and at the very least bring RR back..

Disappointing. That said, you need to understand the ANET mentality on a lot of things. Most players liked year 1 more than year 2. The logical thing would be to bring back year 1. ANET doesn’t think like that though. In their mind, they want to bring back year 2 to see if people like it better this time.

Makes sense? No.

After I wrote out my last comment, I realized a possibility as to why RR never came back, as well as why it might not come back again ever. They might of been working on the China Client back during year 2 and it’s possible they wanted to make sure the event would be fine to run over there, without any issues from the authorities over there.

Skulls, Skeletons and some other things are Taboo in China, and what is Reapers Rumble full of? Skeletons. That might be why we won’t see RR.. :/

So far, they’ve been good with the ticket scheme as far as not destroying the value of limited items that people have spent a ton of gold on. The biggest reason we haven’t seen the precursor scavenger hunt released is because they are aware that throwing something in the game that completely crushes the existing market value of rare items that people have spent thousands of gold on is not good for the game. I have one friend who busted their kitten and spent 3k on the greatsaw back in the summer and another one that sunk a ton of gold into the black shield. If they do a 180 and implicitly make valuable skins cheap, they set a bad precedent for future policy.

They could release another quality colour of the skins in the same vendor that gives candy corn cobs, and require a hefty price and make those account bound on aquire, and then change the quality colour of the skins on the TP to a higher quality and keep those the way they are currently.

Market doesn’t get flooded with more of the high value items, current market items on the TP still hold value as they are tradable, and people get what they want.

Halloween 2014: A Trick or a Treat?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think we won’t be getting any new story content this time around, but I’m OK with Halloween content from the previous two years returning:

- Return of Reaper’s Rumble/Lunatic Inquisition
- Return of the Clocktower
- Return of the Ascent to Madness mini-dungeon
- Return of the Labyrinth (with farming rewards reintroduced)
- Return of a way to get the original Mad Memoires backpiece skin
- And because I know some would love it, a way for people to obtain the Halloween skins from past years

Sadly, we should all know by now that Reapers Rumble, Ascent to Madness mini-dungeon, and the Mad Memoires acquisition chain won’t be returning.

Unless, that is, Anet pulls a crazy trick outta their sleeves and throws RR into this years halloween event and allows everyone to experience the first year’s event’s. They’ve already got the proper system for the event chains now, so it should work.

I really miss Reaper’s Rumble..

Micromanaging Scruffy isn’t so bad. Put him into defensive right away before fighting, kill the stuff with him and just talk to him afterwards. What’s so difficult about that?

This is not to bad of an idea. If you pay for it, either with cash or time&gold, then fine. Giving the options for free – not as great.

Probably should have a high gem price though simply for the fact that they will add more faces and hairstyles to the list over time. Or give it a low price and force people to rebuy the upgrade like the Digital Deluxe Upgrade.

Nah just have it like.

Hair Set 1:
Contains the first set of DLC hairstyles for the character creation screen. 3 hairstyles per race/gender.
400 gems

And then have like.
Hair Set 2
Hair Set 3
Face Set 1
Face Set 2

That could work too. It would work similar to how their doing the whole episode content stuff now as well.

They decided to go with something similar to how GW1 is. It’s actually better than how GW1 is as you don’t have to spend a single piece of gold to get the traits.

Skill hunting was optional in GW1. (notice the word SKILL) It was in no way a show stopper like this mess they have. Which is not optional and tied to the core builds. So how is this better?

Trait hunting is optional. You can either pay gold(which is not hard to farm) for the traits, or you can go out into the world and do the stuff it asks you to do to unlock them.

The way its better is Skill obtaining in GW1 required you to either pay plat for the skills(elite and non-elite skills) upfront or plat for the capture signet. Either way, you we’re paying. The new trait system makes it so you can choose between paying or not paying.

Less spending my gold is better. You get the choice between a Time sink or a Gold sink rather than a gradually increasing gold sink + time sink or a regular gold sink.

That’s how it is better.

I would personally quite like it if new hairstyles/faces were available to fresh characters, or you could buy some kind of ‘unlock upgrade’ so that you could do it.

Probably one of the better ideas I’ve seen here.

the “new and improved” Trait system is an utter failure.

34 Pages of constructive criticism and outrage, 3 months into it’s installation and NOTHING is done.

Please bring back the old trait system for your game’s sake. this is ridiculous.

43 gold and 360 skill points to unlock traits is ridiculous. in the current state of the game’s economy casual players cant afford huge coin amounts like these on top of things like the price of materials and Superior runes…

What a boring and mindless grindfest this game has become… I thought that it was something exclusive to people who want to craft a legendary , now you HAVE to explore 100% of HUGE areas like Lornar’s Pass for EACH Character you want a trait unlocked for.

Who came up with this stupid concept ? Did you consult the players ? those who play and paid for your game …

Casual players put money into the game to get what they want. They are the ones that buy the gems with cash, so unlocking stuff via gold is not that much of an issue for them.

If they already have an 80, they can just run a few dungeons, look up a build that works for their other class, use the gold to unlock the build.

This concept isn’t stupid. It’s reminiscent of how GW1 works. You would go out to an area and capture elite skills after buying a capture signet. Be thankful they made it so you only had to go to the area or do the event. It could be worse. You could’ve required a capture signet to capture the traits. Not only that, but they could of added the traits to the mobs required to kill.

be thankful they changed the game so you have to grind countless hours to unlock your traits ?

reminiscent of gw 1 ? casual players ? I didnt mention ANY of that

Did you even read my post and the 34 pages before that ? of course not , your self entitled reply came out of your rear end.

You didn’t mention the stuff I stated because what you did was simply ask questions. I gave you some answers.

I said be thankful because they could’ve made it worse. It’s not as bad as you’re making it out to be as its not hard to make gold in this game.

“Who came up with this stupid concept ?” They decided to go with something similar to how GW1 is. It’s actually better than how GW1 is as you don’t have to spend a single piece of gold to get the traits.

“in the current state of the game’s economy casual players..” That’s where you stated casual players.

I did read your post. Clearly though, you’ve forgotten what you posted, and rather than directly attack someone and say something along the lines of, “your self entitled reply came out of your rear end.” I responded with reason’s as to why its not as bad as you seem to think it is, and how it could be worse.

But hey, that’s just like, my opinion man.

What do you mean its not fair for the people who already created their characters? They already payed the price for making them when these options aren’t available for them yet. Its not fair to make someone new, then use a kit to see all the new options from the start. Its adding an unnecessary step 2 to create a new characters with every option available in the game only available in step 2. Since they are new, they should have the luxury of having them available for them from the start. And really, think about it, people will change their appearance when they feel like it, almost constantly to look as great as possible. People won’t find complete satisfaction with their appearance even in character creation. They won’t lose money. People will not stop buying them. All I’m saying that these options shouldn’t be restricted to new characters.

It’s only an unnecessary step 2 if you plan on using the new faces/hairstyles from the get-go. Those that don’t know about it will be informed later on by either accidently stumbling onto the new faces/hairstyles while using a random kit they get or by asking players when they see the different faces.

More than likely, the second of the two events will happen.

Also:

And really, think about it, people will change their appearance when they feel like it

Exactly. People will change their appearance when they feel like it. So why do we need them in character creation? It seems like an unnecessary change to a system that’s already working perfectly, just because a few casual’s are complaining about having to spend more money. There are other options to obtain what you want. People have to understand that if you want something in an MMO, you’re going to have to work at it. Those face and hairstyles are tagged as Exclusive – which is what they are. Exclusive. People put money or gold and time into getting those features for their characters. Giving new characters, whether it be new players to the game or a vet getting a new character slot, is not fair to those that have already paid for their new characters.

Sure you can argue that they got what they paid for and the time they’ve played equals the convenience of it possibly being added to new character creations, but it would be the same feeling that some Veteran Players had when they changed the Digital Deluxe edition. I actually know of some cases where people upgraded from standard GW2 accounts to Digital Deluxe right before the change. Now if they wanted to get the upgraded Digital Deluxe, they have to pay for it.

Since we’re going with the whole convenience thing as a possible new character should have all the face/hairstyles available, then hell, I purpose all digital deluxe editions should get every change that happens to the digital deluxe. Why do I have to spend 2000 gems to get two sets of armor, I should be given it for free because I paid extra for this game when it launched! I already paid for the digital deluxe, and I helped it launch kitten, so I should get my just rewards!

Sounds ridiculous right?

Maybe, just maybe, one day down the line you will get your new face and hairstyles in character creation. Maybe after a ton of newer ones have entered and those older ones just get integrated into the character creation menu. For now, they are exclusive and not hard to get by anyone willing to play the game.

No. Just to all of this thread. It’s not hard to make the gold to get a kit if you really want one, or you could simply key farm and try your chances at a kit through the BL chests. I’ve gotten a bunch of self-style and total makeover kits from the chests while key farming for ticket scraps. They are not the hardest thing to get.

Also, you can get the new hair styles from the self-style kit. It’s not locked to the total makeover kit. So if all you want to do is see the new hairstyles(or if in a future patch, they only release a new hair style), you can do it that way.

Quit whining about it not being available in character creation. It doesn’t need to be in there. If you’re too lazy to make gold in-game or figure out an alternative to obtaining the things you want in the game, then sucks to be you. I mean, hell, you only have to play the game to get what you want outta it. So how about you do that instead of adding another thread that is not only not going to make the dev’s change the game, but also in the wrong section of the forums completely.

You are asking for something. You are basically suggesting a feature. This is not the suggestion section of the forums. Good Job.

You don’t get it either. Don’t assume that everyone stops making new characters. If you are a veteran player since launch, wanting to make a new character, wouldn’t it be simpler to have all those options from the start? If they aren’t available at the character creation screen you are forced to get a kit (Hairstyle or Total) and use it to finally get the full character creation experience. I don’t mind the kits, they are useful to modify already existing characters, but I want those new options as well from the start when making new toons.

I have just over 2k hours in Guild Wars 2. I have been playing since Beta Weekend 1 in April of 2012. I have 1 of each class, plus and extra of 1 class, plus an additional slot for key farming.

It’s safe to assume I’m a veteran player.

That being said, while it would be simpler to just have that available, I don’t need that in character creation. As a veteran player, I know how to make gold. That right there is all I need to get the kits from the store IF I REAAAALLY WANTED TO DO IT THAT WAY. Gold to Gems for a self-style kit or total makeover IS NOT worth it imo. I’d rather key farm for ticket scraps and get one randomly(which I have).

It’s not needed in the character creation. I remember before they had the kits in the game, we all assumed/hoped for a barber. While it sucked at first release of the kits(mainly because I didn’t know how to key farm then), it wasn’t a big issue.

If the new options were in character creation, it wouldn’t be fair to those that have all the characters they want but didn’t get the option back when they were making characters. The possible exchange they(anet) could make for giving those options in character creation could be giving us a self style or total makeover kit for every character we have, but then you get the problem where people have 40+ characters(those people exist).

That’s a problem because Anet has to make money off the lazy people who don’t play a lot and can’t do gold-gems conversion. That’s the truth. They won’t change something that makes them a lot of money, and by the looks of it, those kits are doing a bang-up job!

Actually, it is. The devs did away with the dedicated suggestion forum and basically said “make your suggestions wherever the suggestion itself fits”.

Mind you, this suggestion in particular would probably fit better in the Black Lion Trading Post forum, since its related to a gem-store item and all, but still.

I like to subscribe to the idea that its a map of the realm of torment because of everything abaddon-related they’ve been pushing into the game; the choice between fractals where one was supposed to be related to Abaddon, Tormented Weapon Skins, The title of Season 2 LS being very similar to the Gate of Madness and now the possibility that scarlet drew the realm of torment.

Also, I think(not entirely sure on this) someone once mentioned somewhere that scarlet could of seen Abaddon when she went mad while viewing the Eternal Alchemy. If there’s truth to that, then that could be one more thing to the pile of Abaddon-kitten they are pumping into the game.
