I would think they should be able to give you items that you couldn’t get because of a bug but let her check it out and then tell you why or why not.

IIRC Anet said they were more interested in making the home instance change over what choices you made in the personal story.
Strangely enough, no-body cares what effect it will have on their home instance…since people are way, way more invested in making a home instance or home zone that they have freedom of creation in.
They did say before the game was released that player housing was a possible feature that might do.
I haven’t been back to my home instance since I did area completion in the cities. At this point it’s a failed concept imo. At least with the Hall of Monuments in gw1 you were able to update that with tapestries, armor, minipets, weapons, and statues. The personal instance in gw2 is impersonal.

I tried that. Doesn’t work on my screen even with the UI features made small as possible, can’t get the 2 buttons on top of each other. The screen is too small I guess. I can’t move the merchant panel high enough and the other panel is fixed in place.
Don’t grab it from the top, you can drag windows from the sides.

I’ve opened about 2000 regular coffers and no ticket. A friend I play with got a ticket and pinged it in chat and said “what’s this?” I said congrats. I’ll show you where the vender is when we get to LA. That was 2 days ago. She still hasn’t bothered to get a weapon. :/

People were using these kits to grief the world events by spamming the kits and dropping them on the ground. This was causing at best major lag and at worse it was causing people to lose connections in the middle of the Boss fights. They were also spamming the drops in LA to cause major lag. So, it was important to the people who were getting kicked from these events due to this.
There were some threads about this in the forums and I saw people doing this.
They could have done the patch before or after the nights reset. They chose to do it during reset where a lot of the important work for the week is done. They have done this a lot of times now, and we are all tired of it.
I agree. People in WvW being inconvenienced is much more important than people in PvE being locked down and kicked out of events, then losing access to the boss chests. They really should have allowed this problem to continue until it was no longer inconvenient for the WvW people. If that’s when the patch was ready, they should have held off on it for a day or so. Sure, hundreds, maybe thousands of PvE people would have problems but that is extremely minor compared to WvW problems. I absolutely couldn’t agree more with you.
Edit: it occurred to me. What if those people had gone to WvW instead of PvE areas to do their griefing? Would you still have preferred to wait a day or two for the patch to go thru if they were causing WvW to lag and crash? Hmmmm. Don’t answer right away. I know that question is a tuffy.
And so many of the medium armor is so…not sure how say it, but poofy? It makes you look like you have this huge amount of cloth wrapped around you or something. Like you are dressed for sub zero weather. Long pants, long sleeves, coat all the way to the ground and looking like you are wearing layers of clothing under it, it puffs out so much.
Very little that is sleek and form fitting. Extremely little that don’t have long coats or buttcapes.
It’s like they had one template for medium and they designed that armor around it. With minor exceptions, It’s difficult to tell one from the other because they are so similar.
Did you try to change your forum password? You can change your password in the forum, which changes it in the game.
Log into forum. Go to my account. Go to edit profile. Change the password there.
The event hats from Guild Wars 2, wearable in combat like the original. I loved the halo and wore it constantly.

For people who are leveling, a summoning stone like the Guild Wars 1 imp that you could use till you got to max level. So many people are having problems in areas where the population has thinned out.

I guested the other day and checked the guild bank. I could see all the items in there. However I didn’t try to take stuff out. So, yeah, give guesting a try.
It’s unlikely at this point they would do such a huge revamp of the game. What they maybe could do is give us more weapon skills that can be slotted in. Or possibly allow an additional weapon switch, maybe out of combat, for all professions. You would still have only 2 weapons, or one weapon for Elementalists and engineers, to use in combat but it would allow for more flexibility.
I got that title after they put in the quest system. I would have preferred to gouge my own eyeballs out than getting it by death leveling. Lol. The people who got it that way really deserve the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title. People like me should get a lesser title, Defender of Ascalon. However, the title is set. If they bring it back it should be Legendary Defender of Ascalon. Just because Ascalon fell after you left doesn’t mean you didn’t defend it successfully while you were there.

Yes he will. The same guy that venders those also venders the December Wintersday weapons. The coffers are on sale in the trading post and there is no telling how long it will take to sell all of them. And there are people who stop playing but have coffers in their inventory, come back months to years later, get a ticket and want to use it.
It looks like he will be the guy for most of the event tickets. They will just add a new panel for each set. No reason to delete them.
To guest, go to the character select screen. Bottom left is world selection. Click on that. Click on a world you would like to guest to. Click on guest bottom right of panel. A confirmation screen will come up. Hit guest. Then hit play. To leave a server, just go back to the character select screen and you should be back in your home server. You can guest to 2 separate servers as much as you like during a 24 hour period.
To go to LA, you look at your UI. Crossed swords will be on the top left. Click on that. Select go to the mists. This will take you to the PvP training area the first time you do it and the PvP lobby afterwards. From the PvP training area, head north to a broken looking staircase. Go up. There’s a portal up there. Go through. This will take you to the PvP lobby where you will arrive each time you go to the mists from now on. Go thru the portal directly in front of you. That will get you to LA. You will arrive right by the portals to WvW.
From there you can look at your map and see the central hub (5 pink swirls near each other on the map). Those are the portals to all the starting cities, including your own. There are other, single portals on the map but they lead to other places. From there, each city has other portals. One of which will be that areas starting zone. You can ask in map chat for someone to ping the nearest waypoint to that portal if you are having trouble finding it.
I think he wants to use town gear as skins for his common set, the one with stats and runes that you use for fighting. He wants to kill mobs with reading glasses!

Hmmmm. Don’t go from heart to heart so much. Those were added in the beta because people didn’t know how to play the game and to let you see what areas are level appropriate. The real meat of this game are the events. What you can do instead is roam around. If an NPC comes running up to you, they usually have an event they want you to do. Talk to other NPCs that are standing around, especially if they have a name. You can trigger events that way. Get harvesting tools if you don’t have them and harvest everything. Not only are they a good source of money when you sell the mats on the trading post but you get exp from harvesting also. If you are having trouble soloing, see if you can team up with a guild mate or friend.
Also, after you do an event, hang around a few minutes. It’s not unusual for one event to chain into a following event. If you leave you will miss it. You don’t have to stick to your racial area. You can go to Lions Arch (LA) and then thru a portal to another starter area. Also, you may want to fully discover the 5 major cities. This gives a lot of exp and the levels it gives you will make the zones easier to do.
The UI will let you know if there are nearby events. They also will be shown on the map by on orange circle or you may see an NPC with an orange emblem over his head. Those are event areas and NPCs.
Watch map and area chat. Events may be called out on them or people will ask for help in doing events. If they ping the waypoint in chat for you and you have It, you can travel to them. If you don’t have it and its not too far you can run to them. If a skill point or event has a boss that’s too hard you can try asking for help in chat.
I would prefer Orr to stay as it is, at least for now. An eco-system recovering from a century of submersion doesnt happen within a year, not to mention recovery from corruption by a primal dragon or infestation with undead. It would be plausible if GW2 is still running in a decade or two though.
Edit: that also saves them from the problem of redoing the entire personal story.
And how about people who have not yet done the personal story? Even 10 years from now there will be new players coming in who haven’t done it. Unless you can reconcile the greening of Orr with people who haven’t killed Zhaitan yet, then it won’t work.
I haven’t done the personal story yet from lack of interest. So for me, Zhaitan has not yet been killed and there is no reason lore wise for the land to change.

If you think about it, the Gem Store could be handling this sort of thing all the time, for every sale, if the timespan for such requests was broad. That would get time consuming and costly, in terms of slowing response times for gameplay and account issues.
So because the purchase was well in advance of the sale, I would not recommend submitting a ticket.

OP, some of the non-thanks may be because they think you are helping yourself as well. That is, they may think you also needed that skill point or whatever and and came over when they asked for help in order to get it for yourself. In which case, they wouldn’t feel the need to say thanks as it was a mutual helping each other.
When you look at your character and realize he has worn the same outfit for 6 months straight, fighting and swimming in it, and you wonder what he smells like.
For each of the 3 professions that use staff, it tends to be more useful in groups and against either groups or the more dangerous mobs that you don’t want to get close to. Each one leans more toward control and damage against groups of targets rather than large amount of damage to single targets. You can use the staff against single targets and kill with it, it’s just not what it’s truly designed for.
And because they want some items to be soulbound because it reflects what that particular toon did. The same reason that karma earned by a toon is for that toon only and is not pooled like gold is.
But that’s onl partly true; sure, when I do an event, then the karma goes to the character I did it on – but karma rewards for dailies, monthlies, map completion, and story completion (including personal (!) story iirc) are account bound. It is common practice to do the activities on the character you’re leveling and down the jugs of karma (under the influence of bonus banners) on the character that you want the legendary for or buy Orrian jewellery boxes with (or whatever).
Equally, you can do 99.9% of the dailies on one character and then do the last revive on a low level character and gt the daily/monthly reward.
And the same for the living story events – the character who gets the reward item is not the one who did all the activities, only the one who did the last activity.
So I sincerely doubt that that is the reason for anything…
You have to remember that what is true now was not true when the game started. That the game is in a process of change and part of it may be from strict soul bound items to less strict account bound items. When the game started there was only karma that your toon earned by doing events. That karma was not shared across any other alts. The reason why it was your toons reputation. The karma jugs came along later, after the dailies and then monthly were brought in. Them being account bound is a loosening of the stricker soulbound karma rule. As for the event rewards being account bound, again there were no event rewards of that type when the game started. When the first one came, it fell under the more relaxed account bound rule. Since the game seems to be in a process of change, it makes the rules for binding a bit schizophrenic as sometimes one set of rules are applied and sometimes another.
That’s my take on it.
As to account bound karma being rewarded for map completion or story completion, I don’t recall getting this. If it does, the question is, did they do this from the beginning or after they relaxed the rules some?

Yeah this is true, But let’s be faqir, how often do you actually visit the HoM… Personally I’ve been there about 5 times since the game launched, it would be nice to see it restored to it’s former glory and to have a reason to visit it.
End of the day, only GW1 players will ahve access to the NPC’s special items. Which is kinda the whole point of the link. Though it would be nice for those who didn’t have GW1 to have access to it!

No, I said “only GW1 players will have access to the NPC’s special items” but I think GW2 Players should also have access to the HoM map.
All Guild Wars 2 players do have access to the HoM, just not to the special items. All they have to do is get the portal stone from the merchant in LA and they can go there
In big DE’s and WvW zergs I use staff. It has the best AoE orientated damage resulting in the best change of hitting all enemy’s and getting more drops.
For every else I personally use scepter dagger. Though dagger dagger is good as well.
staff: awesome AoE-damage, limited protection cause you have to kill them all at once (10 foes with 1/4th health left deal as much damage as 10 foes with full health, so AoE limits the pressure on you).
Scepter/foucs: highly orientated on protection
Dagger/dagger: This is still ranged by the way. Highly focussed on dealing damage
Scepter/dagger: hybrid, a very good damage output, but with more then enough control ability’s to keep yourself alive. The reason I use this most of the time.
I came to this through trial and error, as mentioned, I was using staff all the time and even though i was 3 levels above I couldnt do my level 23 story-line. Then I switched to scepter/dagger and was amazed. Cause I could take out my enemy’s one by one I had much more control. So if you use the weapon thats not optimum the difficulty level of the game rises.
The weapons do make a difference. I had a guildie complaining in chat about killing things on his ele. I asked him what he was using and he said staff. I recommended dagger/dagger since he was high level already. He came back on chat later and told me about how much faster things were dying since he switched.
I use dagger/dagger now but switch to staff for the world bosses.

If you are still leveling, you will probably be happiest with either staff or scepter/dagger or scepter/focus. Those kill slower than dagger/dagger but are better when you are still learning. Dagger/dagger has an in your face style of fighting that is better off with full traits and exotics. The others let you fight from further away and are more forgiving.

There are various reasons. The one that I think would apply here is that those notes are still a work in progress. Which means they can be modified at any minute before they are released. If people see a change and are counting on it and it gets modified then there is forum outrage. If people see something that they don’t like, there is forum outrage. And it might be something that ANet is still tinkering with and trying to get it right. Something that is not yet ready for release. Either way unfinished, unpolished notes on POSSIBLE future changes can cause unnecessary forum QQ.

Isn’t it out right as YOUR customer to voice what we want. Yes there are guideline say whats right and whats wrong but deleting a topic without provide a reason for it. Where is our freedom of speech when you will just delete the topic.
Just to say, freedom of speech is political only. That is, it refers to how the government handles speech in a society. You have no freedom of speech when talking to a business. In this case they can make any rules regarding speech that they like. Now that speech may still be regulated by law, for example if someone advocates hate crimes. In which case the government can get involved. But ANet can shut down any post that it wants and it’s perfectly fine with the law.
