A few months back (like…in October or something) some friends and I all pooled together our money to have 200g and mailed it back and forth so we could all get the Golden title. Nothing bad happened. If someone gets banned for mailing gold it’s because they’re up to something else as well.

I did the same thing with 2 other guidies, we traded 200 gold between us using the guild bank instead of email. I got a “permanent ban” for gold selling that was reversed the next day after I contacted support. And no I wasn’t up to anything else, they banned me by mistake.

I hope they release the old minis from Guild Wars 1, of which Koss was one. I dearly miss my Celestial Dragon.

Sounds like a way to grief/annoy people, by making pop up screens show when they are trying to play. How about people doing it to an enemy players in WvW in an attempt to distract or annoy them?

Same thing that happens to people that do that with the report system…

I wasn’t aware that you knew when you were reported, or that a pop up screen showed with it.

People may attempt to grief with reports, but a live person checks them. Mistakes happen of course but you don’t get notifications showing up on your screen every few minutes as this method would do.

So, lets say you are soloing a champion and someone starts spamming you questions asking if you are a bot. And letting you know that if you don’t stop and answer them you will get tagged as a bot. Or a group of people get together to harass someone like this. Or if you were standing around af’k and get tagged as a bot. Still ok?

This sort of thing is why it’s not up to the players to determine if someone is a bot or not and to be able to impose some sort of sanctions in game. There are always those who want to grief strangers or people they take a dislike to. Griefing others is a big deal in some games and ANet has made a deliberate effort to make a game without it. For something like this to be acceptable to the company, you would have to devise a method that was grief proof. They don’t want a game where people are annoyed by other players, and I guarantee being requested to stop gameplay to confirm you are not a bot or risk sanctions would quickly become annoying.

Warrior, most definitely if you want a class that gets invites to dungeons.
I don’t PvP but I’ve read that warriors are weak there, also WvW. You might want to check the profession forums to see what they complain about.

Hmmm. Since you are making art from what you see, not using say prints of Guild Wars 2 art and selling it as though you owned it, pretty sure that’s legal. Surely a company doesn’t have rights to art you make, that would mean that people would be prohibited from taking pictures of coke bottles for example and selling them.

There is no auto banning, but he might have been banned by mistake for gold buying. However it’s more likely he is just taking a day off.

I’ve reconsidered and want to thank you for posting this thread again. I’ve looked into this food and made a bunch of them for my warrior. It should come in handy. Before you brought it to my, and many other people’s attention I’m sure, I was unaware it was so useful. ^^

It’s really no ones business what other people keep in their storage. The main point is that ANet is losing money by not selling more bank tabs, which many people want. Would it be so difficult to have more than one bank panel with buyable bank tabs?

Not everyone plays with chat on or pays attention to chat while playing. For example, one of my guildies often plays with all chat off when not in the mood to be sociable and another that I play with regularly often fails to read chat because she is paying attention to other things.

Another possibility is that the Rich Dragon Coffer has the same chance for a ticket but is called Rich because it gives you more/other stuff than the regular coffer. This would be my guess.

Judging by the “(rarely)” qualifier, you are incorrect. Anyway it’s impossible to tell at this point, as we well know by now rare can mean any number of things. My guess is the rich coffers will have a slightly higher drop rate over previous gambling chests, but it will definitely not be guaranteed. The dropped coffers will have a terrible rate on the skins, that much is pretty obvious. Otherwise who’d buy one?

I hope that I am incorrect and you are correct. That would mean that ANet has been reading what people have been saying. However if its only slightly better than a terrible rate, it’s still not much of an improvement.

Unique means literally only one exists. So if 2 people have the same thing then it is no longer unique, merely rare. If hundreds of people have it then its not even rare. So, when a game redefines unique to no longer mean ‘only one in existence’ but changes the meaning to ‘only one can be worn’ then they should tell you what the redefined meaning is.

People may say you should wiki it, but why should anyone need or even think of wikiing the meaning of common words with an understood meaning on the off chance that the game redefined the meaning.

Unique here could have easily meant, no other has those stats exactly, but you could wear more than one. Which is what most people are likely to think and why they wouldn’t think to wiki it. You only wiki something where you are unsure of the meaning, not because you think the game may redefine the meaning of a common word.

Unless you take ingame money in some way, how would ANet even know you have an art business on the side in real life? Unless you are doing it for free, just handle it like any online business where you discuss it outside the game by email.

Every time he makes a new ticket, they first go through it and delete it or merge it before they respond to the first one. Your brother is slowing them down by doing that.

Hmmm. It’s town clothes so its dyeable. I guess that’s the reason why but it sounds messed up. I would put in a bug ticket and hope they change it. Maybe try using the dye removal on the helm then taking the helm off, see if that does anything.

Might need to be modified a little so that it’s mutual friends. Lets say you are no longer friends with someone and s/he is out to harass you. S/he stalks you by going to whatever zone you are in and looks for you. Having your name show up as a different color would make it easier for them to spot you as s/he won’t need to read your name, just look for the color.

I think the question of event frequency and density is really interesting and I’m hoping to add more statistics soon to help figure out exactly what’s happening. At this point I’ve got a few preliminary conclusions based on the data:

1) Event density is VERY variable from zone to zone; e.g. compare Metrica Province to Sparkfly Fen. Also notice that several of the most common events in Sparkfly are group events that nobody wants to do.
2) A large number of events seem “blocked” by a few events that people don’t want to do. For example, one difficult group event can block other events from starting in the zone, or the start of an event chain is hidden somewhere nobody goes.
3) Some zones respawn their events very quickly, while others seem to have more events on a longer timer and may therefore not seem to have many events at primetime.

Check out the website and let me know what you think – there’s plenty of interesting data to mine in there, and hopefully it will help you find lots of fun events! I know I had a blast doing lots of events in Caledon Forest today and I gained 9 levels in just a few hours

It seems that town clothes are in name but not in reality. Why? players are more willing to wear their cool outlook armor rather than spending valuable gem to buy town clothes.

The color wheel shows the range of possible colors. It also shows how difficult it would be to pick one spot on the wheel and say that that spot and nowhere else is true blue or true yellow and have everyone agree with you. Especially since the color changes depending on armor type and even different armor within a type.

If the odds are like the other boxes, I would expect the average person would need about 50 boxes to have a good chance of getting one. Iirc, the chance rate was said to be 1%. The most I read of was about 200 boxes without a ticket and a number of people bought 100 or so.

actually GW1 has the best system for this by far, all you have to do is set it to visible in whatever way.
it can be in combat-only, town-only or just both, you can even hide it entirely per piece.

i do wonder what the designer was thinking, they made such a wonderful system in GW1 and they ruined it in GW2.
so after working on a game for 8 years they never learned from there own successes, they pretty much downgraded GW2 from it’s predecessor.

But obviously people are buying these town clothes. Why, I don’t know. I never see anyone wear one, or very very rarely. But I’ve seen threads where people complain that they need more storage in order to buy more. I’d be interested to know the percentage of people who buy them out of the general population. I know the Guild Wars 1 version was very popular. I would see people wearing costumes every day, not just every blue moon.

A sandwichmancer specced for condition damage is nasty. They throw slices of green bologna meat covered with mayonnaise that has been left in out in the heat for 2 days. The stink deals immediate damage and the germs do long lasting damage unless you can cleanse yourself thoroughly.

ANet is weirdly stingy about bank tabs. They did the thing in Guild Wars 1. There was even one bank tab that was for sale ONLY for the 4th year birthday celebration. If you missed it, then toooo bad soooo sad. They could sell more bank slots and make money from it. I’m considering buying a character slot just for all my account bound stuff but I would much rather have more bank slots.

Maybe part of the problem with having dyes that are labeled blue or yellow or whatever, is that the dye color changes depending on armor type. I have some dyes that look black on my warrior and gray on my light armor. So you could have a dye called blue, and be dark on one armor and light on others.

Too bad infusing didn’t work. :/

Yah, they need a sell back feature for this, for non soulbound items. It takes so long to accumulate enough laurels to buy them and truthfully, the information that it is “unique” is inadequate as a warning. In Guild Wars 1, unique meant it was a green item. They changed the meaning in this game without warning and if you didn’t play other games that had this same meaning or if you didn’t read the forums and see it there, you wouldn’t know. It’s a punishing loss of laurels for a simple mistake. If it was me I would hold on to it and hope they put in a buy back feature.

You will get 5 character slots to start with. Go ahead and make 5 professions, different races and try them out for a couple of days each. Just be aware that some professions are more difficult to play at lower levels than at high levels when you have all your traits and skills.

Not an expert on this, but I seem to recall someone else asking for help on the forum, same thing. What he was told he could do, was to infuse one but not the other. That this would change it enough to wear both.

If you were going to infuse one anyway, it’s worth a try.

I think they’re using it to address the complaints of people buying $100’s worth of RNG boxes and not getting a ticket. Seems to me like the gem store ones will have a 100% guarantee and the drops will have a much smaller chance.

I strongly doubt they will have a guaranteed ticket. If they were to guarantee a ticket, why not sell the tickets directly? Why put them inside a box? My personal guess is that they will have the same chance of getting a ticket as the drops and that they are called “rich” because they have items in there that the drops do not, or the same items but more of them.

Do I sound pessimistic? Maybe it’s because I think there have been enough people buying RNG boxes in the past that ANet thinks this is the best way to make money.

I feel your pain. I don’t get sick if I don’t log in, because I play enough where I get the dailies anyway. It’s the “extra” dailies that are making it harder to stay on top. I already do the regular and PvP daily every day. Then I do all the dailies except crab toss, and the WvW dailies (some of which I do sometimes).

But you know…I had more fun just goofing off and doing what I wanted. I want to play and enjoy the game.

People keep saying there’s no required grind in this game, and they’re right…as long as you change your mind set. That’s why I’m going to change mine.

When you think about it, what do you earn from doing a daily? 5 silver (big whoop) a jug of karma (essentially useless if you aren’t getting a Legendary) a mystic coin (ok if you use them, otherwise not so much. I have a full stack and ~90 more) and a laurel (if you want what the karma sellers buy then useful, otherwise not) and a few more points on a meaningless Leaderboard.

I suggested one time to the group I play with that we stop doing the daily, but they want to chase the carrot in front of their noses. I guess it gives structure to the game, that may be the big attraction.

I guess they do make some refunds. In that case tho, it was just a few hours and this case it’s a few days. However, it wouldn’t hurt to try.

I thought about suggesting those other two professions. Warriors are easy and kill fast but seem to me to be more fragile than guardians. Rangers are tough as nails in general PvE and great for someone who doesn’t want a primarily melee profession. However they aren’t favored in dungeons, and I didn’t want to recommend a profession that someone may regret leveling to 80, since a number of people seem to hate leveling more than one time.

Lol. When that first came out, checked and I was in the top 90%. (Percentile?) And it was meaningless. Did Ascalon dungeon twice. Did fractals a few times because guildies needed more people (at level 2 now iirc). Did the ending story dungeon twice, again because of guildies needing help. And that’s it. No WvW. No PvP. Just a bunch of points from leveling 8 professions in the low level areas and playing a lot of hours. I do try to get as many achievement points each daily that I reasonably can, but I have no idea why.

Imo, if someone like me can be way up there and have done so little, the Leaderboards don’t show anything really more than time played.

Sorry, pretty much out of luck. No business that I know of gives refunds to people who buy right before a sale. Where would you draw the line to not give a refund? One hour? One day? One week? One month? If a business allowed refunds for this reason, every time they have a sale, people would show up who bought the product at some time in the past and now want money back.

Any race is fine really. The racal skills are deliberately weak so people wouldn’t choose for that reason. So go for the one you like the look of best.

The easiest profession imo would be guardian.

There is a merchant in LA who “sells” the HoM portal stones. Anyone can get one for free.

I prefer the health per second ones myself, as they give you a constant regen. The other only works if you are attacking and a chance if, while attacking, you critical. The other gives you healing even if you back off from the fight because your health is very low.

After careful study, I have determine that you can tell casuals from hard core in this profession. Casuals use white bread skills without crust. Hard core uses 2 day old whole wheat bread skills with vegamite topping.

I was thinking about this… being primarily a mesmer, I miss the original version of Portal. Anyone remember that? You didn’t have to hit “F” to use it, as soon as it was active if you ran into it it ported you to the exit. Not just to the exit, but right past it so you weren’t standing on the exit. Now THAT was a fun iteration of portal. You could chain a couple together such that exiting one put you on the entrance of the second and off you went! Ah, to have that version back would be nice. (To see portal working this way, look at the ANet video for the portal skill released when mesmer was first introduced.)

People were using the original version of portals to troll. I remember in one of the betas, several Mesmers were using portal to stop people from going through the Hoelbrak portal to wayfarers. They put portals in front of the Hoelbrak portal so people were ported away when they tried to go through. They were also porting people who were af’k to different places. The old system would allow you to port an af’k player from a safe spot to next to a mob so he could be killed. It was because of this sort of thing that the Mesmer portal was changed.

Rifle isn’t that great on a warrior. I only use mine while getting to a target or kiting when my health is low. For melee in general PvE I prefer sword/axe. But it tends to be personal preference here. Lots of people like greatsword. And I’ve seen a number of warriors with axe/axe.

If they can have the mini stay with you when you way point, why can’t it simply stay on till you turn it turn it off. A simple change like that would fix the “disappearing mini” problem.

A mini panel, like the ranger pet panel would be nice. This way every alt could use the same mini.

Unfortunatly not everyone has access to the HoM. Only long term GW1 fans have that access stone. and it was built as a place of rememberance. though why are there inusuable chests and why such a big space for such little content. Id agree to an instant warp to a housing space like that of “Wildstar’s Idea”. if you all plan to make housing please make it something like that where we can edit everything from the walls and carpet to furniture trees bushes and possible farms to havest some basic materials. and i think a trophy type room would be great like we had in the original GW1 where we could look back at all that we had accomplished. There is so much from GW1 that should be reimplimented into GW2 with more polished features. I know you cant just copy and paste the content, but I wish you would Bring in all the great features you have left behind in GW1.

I agree, its poorly executed. You don’t stand a chance against the other mobs, and don’t even get a chance to fight the queen.

Then non of the waypoints are open except one a zillion miles away. You then run all the way back only to not be able to get into the camp because of a zillion mobs standing around guarding it.

Yep. The first time I tried it, 2 guildies told me it was up. So I wp to Southsun and run in. I get to the town by where the Queen is and it’s full of Karkas. Impossible to get through before the event ended. Iirc the only way to get there without going thru the town required another wp, which was contested and unusable. So, there was no way to reach the Queen.
