I would like GW2 to follow GW1’s lead and give us a birthday present that awards you a token you can use to redeem for a weapon/backpack skin from the previous year of your choice. Missed out on that Fused/Sclerite/Jetpack/Braham/Rox skin you wanted? Grab the token and pick the item of your choice from a vendor. (Note that the skins obtained in this manner are immediately account bound and can’t be resold.)
You know what? This would be great. Something like this would get rid of some of those irritated bad feelings that have been growing over the last year over the RNG BL chests. If people knew they could get birthday tokens every year, I don’t think there would be as much complaining about spending money for them.
There are some problems, imo, with the diadem. One is that it can’t be dyed, probably because its made “out of ice” but it’s a consideration. Two, is has a faily thick appearance, not lacy or light looking which may or may not matter. The third, it tends to set faily low on the forehead and may not “sit right” depending on your character. I really recommend you preview it before you go to the trouble of getting it. I do have it on 2 of my characters, but it didn’t look right on the others.
We just had a flashy dagger added, the Molten Alliance daggers. Unfortunately instead of making amends and finally putting effort in to any weapon besides greatswords, ANet decided to deliver a big ‘screw-you’ to its fans and hide them behind one of the most greedy and asinine RNG drops ever to grace a non-F2P MMO.
I’m gonna HALF agree with you. I DO think the method of getting one of those skins was terrible. On the other hand, I’m GLAD they made it difficult for people to get. It ensures that the people who DO get it, appreciate it more.
I ran about 35 keys runs, got about 40 keys, and didn’t get one. A friend got a key for completing an area, got a ticket. She didn’t even know what it was for. I had to tell her. Yeah, she really appreciated it more than the people kittenally* tried to get one.
RNG for these is awful. I don’t care if everyone else and their dog has one. I care about how my character looks and just wanted to buy one of them, or two to make a set like for my dagger/dagger ele.
If your account is stripped, it’s possible that you might be able to get an account restoration. That depends on whether or not it happened before or after this was put into the game. It’s a one time only thing though. So you might be better off just starting over and holding that in case you really need it one day.
Make only one ticket. Making multiple tickets slows the process down. If you need to contact support, you update the ticket that you made.
I think for the first birthday they should offer former guild wars one players ascended town clothes, just to annoy them. lol
For the Guild Wars 1 players, a full set of ascended armor, with stats you can select by toggling on the ones you want so you can change your stats on the fly. Plus with sparkle effects and flames coming out and footprints like a Legandary weapon. ^^
Or a birthday cake backpack. That would be good too. :-)
Receiving money in the mail can flag your account. Multiple flags can result in a ban, at which point you have to go through support and wait a few days.
Guild banks however are apparently not logged, so you can do it through there. Because of this, they can be exploited to duplicate items, as long as you’re willing to fake and waste your 1 time only feature.
When I got my ban for borrowing 175 gold for the title Golden, we did it through the guild bank. I got a ban and the 2 other guildies who did this with me did not, so it’s pretty random.
I didn’t get the reward chests on Shatterer for 2 days in a row, neither the small chest with the guaranteed rare or the big chest. I did them on my necro that I leave there. Took a screenshot and reported it the second time.
Edit: it must be a DR thing. Took a different toon out there the next time the event came up and got the chests.
People have been banned for borrowing money from other players. It doesn’t occur each time though it happens though. If you get banned, you will need to put in a ticket to support to be reinstated.
I got a ban for borrowing 175 gold for a few minutes to get the Golden title. So it does happen.
Hmmmm, I’m kind of leaning toward a free cake backpack in the gem store, one per account. The first year can be a cupcake with one candle.
But a present for each character as it becomes a year older, just like Guild Wars 1, with a minipet would be very nice. And like Guild Wars 1, sellable. That way you can get rid of ones you don’t care for or have multiples of and get ones you like better.

I wish the minis in this game were like Guild Wars 1 minis. They moved around and had some animations. The ones in this game, mostly just stand there. Only a few have an interesting animation. Most are kind of boring. :/
They look like the phishing emails that are going around. ANet doesn’t normally contact people. They want you to contact them from their official site here if there is a problem with your account. If you try to log on and your account is blocked, then you contact them.
The only crafting I would really recommend while leveling is cooking. That one is useful. Weapons and armor, not so much. Cheaper to buy what you need every 10 levels or so. The only reason to learn crafting is either for a title, to convert raw material to finished so they don’t fill up inventory or for max level items at level 80. For those things you can wait till you are level 80 and have a full inventory.

Heh… there is another way. Don’t ban the player unless you offer him 1 chance to change his name amd make it right. The team shouldn’t even waste time. Do a simple warning like this:

This is a warning. Your name is violating the rules (link to the rules). In order to login we offer the possibility to change your character name. Choosing a similar name that will further contradict with our rules, will lead to your account ban temporary or permanent. Thank you for your understanding. "

Actually, the first time is often just a forced renaming. The actual bans come in if the name is really bad or after the first forced renaming. Where she was saying the suspension was the warning, it was in response to a guy who made an name offensive enough to get a ban as well as a forced renaming and who then made a forum thread to argue about it. He posted his name and it had explicit female sexual references. I have read other threads where the person only got a forced renaming. Their ban came with the second forced renaming.
I talked to the team about this and they pointed out that there are multiple ways in which an item can be acquired. For instance, using gold that you have earned in the game to acquire the item would give you a second item, but the transaction would not appear in the game logs in the same way that a straight-out acquisition of the item with purchased gems would appear.
We cannot see that this transaction occurred in the manner in which you describe. I will ask the team if there are additional reviews that they can conduct.
I understand what you mean with different ways to obtain an item with the use of Gold, Karma and other methods in game. This item was a limited gem store only item, so no one is able to obtain the item other than the gem store. Mater of fact, you can no longer get this item in game anymore as it was removed with the ending of the Flame and Frost.

I believe that what she is saying, is that only when you buy gems with real money is there a trail they can follow. If you bought gems with in game gold and then those gems bought an item, then they can’t see it.
So, did you buy gems with in real money, in game money, or a mix. It appears from her comment that you did a mix. If its a mix, then that may be why they can only see one transaction on record.

This is actually an interesting idea. It would address, for females, the situation where the male/female armor versions are very different (read covered vs. uncovered). If a person wants to dress their character in the opposite sex’s armor why not?
That’s very interesting. I knew about the main ones but not about most of the others.
If there was an announcer in the main cities, that might be an idea worth considering. Most people just go to the ones on that timer and the events get swarmed. ANet should look into this and consider the pros and cons.
He didn’t agree with you. He said that they were rare and meant to be so. Not that they should become rarer, so that people who already have a Legendary and who want to be special snowflakes can be selfish and ask to exclude others from game rewards.
Actually, you might be used as a farm for someone. They have your account information and are just waiting for you to get your materials and they just “farm” you.
I suggest changing your GW and email password (and make them different).
Since it happened twice, I would be very suspicious of someone having hacked your account and is stealing mats from you. They may not have taken money so as to make you think it was a bug and not theft. Besides changing your account information, I would update your ticket so support can check this theory.
You might experiment with reducing toughness then reducing vitality and see how the mobs react to you. You didn’t say what level you were, what armor you have or trait lines. Assuming you are max level in full exotics, you can try getting greens for the experiment. They are cheap and let you try out different builds. Or if your traits give you a lot of toughness, you can see what happens when you respec.
And put the collectors back for a few days after the periscopes are removed please. I have about 10 of the logs so far that I have collected and am holding on to.

The term is designated as offensive, regardless of its age. Whether or not it still has the power to be truly insulting, for legal reasons it has to be banned. If someone was using it freely and ANet did not take action against them, then the company would be open to a lawsuit by anyone who cared to press the issue, and hopefully make a little money for themselves or get attention. I agree that the term is old and has lost it’s insulting power. But someone who decides to be insulted and to sue, would have a good chance of winning the suit if the word was not banned.
The name was banned mostly because of the legal consequences if it was not.
Edit: while the word is now old, there are people yet living who remember the word when it was not old and when it was insulting. Just because it is not insulting to you, your friends, or to younger Japanese people does not mean that it would not hurt those people who remember the word when it did have power to hurt, to see it freely used in public.

I’ve ocassionally seen them on forums, and I’ve seen them in Lion’s Arch too. And in some zones where those missions are. My guild does missions the same time every week. If you guys want to tag along just for rewards, you can do so, without staying or doing anything else. Rep for the missions, and rep your own guild the rest of the time.

For those with alts who want to get ascended jewelry, it’s punishing. You need 180 laurels for just one toon. That’s 4.5 months, if you get a laurel every day and get the monthly. And if you don’t spend the laurels on any other items.
Guild missions and fractals, of course, are also available. Even if you don’t like fractals, guild missions are definitely another way to get them. Getting rings in Fractals is pretty easy, and the loot drops are some of the best in the game.
Guild missions, are, unfortunately, not really available for everyone – only for a relatively small minority of the players.
My guild is smallish. We are still accumulating the influence needed to unlock. I’ve done about 4 fractal runs. Not really a dungeon person and neither is my guild. And I have a slow, laggy computer. The game freezes and kicks me out periodically which makes higher content difficult. So it’s possible that I might get these items, but not positive. I’m pinning my plans on the laurels.

While what causes agro seems to change from one mob to the next, the general consensus is that toughness is a mob attractor. Also rezzing people and using a shield seem to be high on the list.
When I first took my Ranger to Orr, he had rare armor and high toughness. Champions would take one look at him and run him down. It didn’t seem to matter who else was there and what damage they were doing. He was an agro magnet. I then put him into exotic armor and reduced the toughness, went back, and agro was greatly reduced.
The amount of health you have, as a ratio to your toughness may also be a factor. You might try changing that also to see if it affects agro.
We’ve hit a misunderstanding, Heimerdinger is the name of an engineering based character in the game, League of Legends, it’s not at all meant to be sexual.
I don’t think anyone said it was sexual. ^^ However there is a high probability that it is copywrited. If it is and someone reports it, you will have to rename. If you really, really, want that name then maybe you can contact that company and ask if its copywrited and if there is a problem with using it in a video game. Be aware, that even if the company did say it was alright for you to use, for legal reasons you still may be be forced into a renaming one day. Lawyers don’t like possible lawsuits.
They forced me (after 8 months wihtout any problems) to rename my char from “nippeltiger” to something else. I told myself, OK, maybe the pope saw my name and felt giggedy, so I’ll go along and use my usual old name for chars that I never had a problem with in 10 years of MMO history, “Nipp Graviton”. 48 hours later they ban me for 72hours.
So make sure to google your potential names, because their namecheck in the character creation loves bananas and they are also lazy as fluffy to inform you about what the problem was in the first place.
Nippeltiger is close to Nippletiger, the word nipple triggered the renaming. Nip is an racial insult for Japanese people. The 72 hour ban is because you got the first renaming and then you made another name, however innocently, that was a racial insult. They consider names that are “creatively spelled” as trying to get around TOS.
Edit: I googled the German word nippel. It said the translation for it was nipple. So you attempted to deliberately get around the censors and got caught. No reason for you to act innocent here.
You don’t get a 72 hour ban the first time unless the name is obviously bad. It’s only the repeat offenders and the people who make names obviously against TOS who get the 72 hour ban. Otherwise, names that are marginal, the first time you will get a message telling you that you need to rename that toon before you can log on.

Yah, I shouldn’t have said that support was slower during the weekend, as I was basing it on observation of a few posts and guessing that they would be busier during the weekend, not knowledge. :-)
This information is not true. Customer Support works 24/7. They will respond to your ticket as soon as possible. With the serial codes in your possession, you should have little problem proving you own both accounts. You will probably not be eligible for a roll-back, unless your account was originally hacked after Dec. 1st, I believe, as that was the date Account Restoration was made available. If you explain everything in your support ticket, you may be able to obtain a refund. There is no reason to have to buy the game twice for one account. Read the stickies at the top of the Support Forum, and browse the answers at Support for more information. Best of luck to you, and welcome back! =)
Actually neither you nor I know if its true or not. ^^ Neither of us knows if they have full staffing on the weekends or if they have an increased workload during the weekend relative to number of people working. My comment was based on noting that the people who post on the weekends seem to have a longer turn around time. :-)

They mentioned it as something they were thinking about. No timeline given and no one but them has any idea if they are doing anything on it right now So, I wouldn’t expect anything in the near or even middle future.
Spawn rates in the game are fine. If you can’t kill things quick enough in the times the dev mentioned, you should look at your build and gear.
I’ve had mobs respawn a second after killing them. Not commonly, true, but often enough to be annoying. And heaven forbid you and a couple of others should tackle a champion, unless you enjoy repeatedly killing the surrounding mobs several times during the fight.
I have 8 professions at level 80. If I buy ascended jewelry with laurels only its going to take me two and one-half years to finish. Some of my guild members haven’t even gotten one piece yet. I would hope that ascended gear is optional and not required for any expansion. If its required because of a higher level cap and its the new level 90 or 100 gear, they should let people know now and make it easier to get.
Apparently there is a download glitch where you can get stuck at 1 file left. I’ve read that you can switch languages to restart it. Go to the top corner and switch the language to French. See if that fixes it.

I tried the karka back piece on my engineer. It would disappear and appear depending if an engineer kit was on or off or if I did a skill with a kit on.

The appearing, disappearing vanity back pieces are annoying.
Also, the kits don’t match the way my engineer looks. I can see how it might be wanted by enemy PvPers, but let us turn off kit appearance in PvE.
Yeah, sounds like you got hacked. :/ It was a more common problem when the game first started. They made everyone make new passwords and that solved most of it. Since you were gone, obviously that missed you.
It’s the weekend and support is slower. Not even sure they work on the weekend. In general, it takes a good 24 hours to get a first response (or one business day). And then of course the back and forth emails getting your account back. I strongly doubt you will get a refund and I personally would hesitate to even try. The reason is, they are real touchy about refunds. If you get one you get a real, permanent ban. Unless you want to chance that, I would just let it go.
That really sounds like a bug of some kind. I haven’t seen anybody else in the forums complaining about it, so it’s not a common one. First thing you can do is contact support and put in a ticket. I would also make a thread in the Game Bugs forum. See if anyone there can help you. This forum is more for people who get banned or suspended.
