Hi Ayleid, if I understand you right your issue is that you choose displayname A, but ended up with display name B??
If have heard bout this before ( only one time). You should file a support ticket and ask them to investigate. If it is indeed a bug at your site they can fix it, if you did something wrong they can’t.
@Astral, please read his post and my interpretation. I do believe you understood him wrong.
The problem seems to be his brother tried to link his account to OPs GW account and then the names changed, from what I understand him to be saying. That may not be a bug, but a consequence of what his brother did.
Even if its a bug, he has been using this display name since beta and is only now trying to change it. Since Gaile has already said they only change for real names, email names or names that break TOS, they may change it but it probably unlikely.
I read you will need to infuse the agony resistance first. That if you put the wings on an uninfused back item and then infuse it, the look will revert to the regular ascended item.
hmm idont know i just got a message and yes they refunded me but they said:
Gem restoration is not always possible, however, we were able to provide the restoration you requested in this case. 500 gems have been added to your account. Please note that we cannot guarantee that a similar restoration will be possible in the future, so please be careful.
so i got it back but maybe for once, asked them nice and respectfully and got my gems helped them a lot to proof it but still you never know they will refund the gems back in the futur if something again happens, not evenly me but for everyone?
Glad you got your money back. Did they remove the armor or leave it in inventory?
Did you report it as a bug?
Wayfarer Foothills
Ulfred’s attempt to fool the grawl has been divided into two events: collecting magical ice for him and defending him while he sculpts the ice.
Since the patch notes don’t say anything about reducing the amount of ice dropped by the elementals, it makes me think its a bug.
Yah they need underflow servers. That would help tremendously.

Np. It was just a possibility.
If you were looking over the items using a character that is now deleted, it’s remotely possible that they went into inventory and you forgot.
There was a thread a while back from a guy who had 2 Dawns. He sold one and the other disappeared from his bank, he said. He contacted support and they tracked it down. He had sold both and forgot.
If its gone, I’m afraid it’s gone. However it happened. If you truly think it wasn’t on that character you can file a bug report for their information but Gaile has already said on a previous thread that ANet does not have the tools to replace individual lost items. If they can’t see what happened to the items, then I guess they won’t give a refund.
Edit: though I guess it wouldn’t hurt to continue with trying to get support to refund you or replace as I could always be wrong. Couldn’t find a direct quote to back up what I said.

From another thread, I gather that if you bought gems with gold there is no digital paper trail for them to follow to see if items were bought. They can only see items bought with a credit/debit card. Which may be the reason they can’t see it.
I don’t know the reasoning about the Charr but I gather they didn’t want sexy armor on a character that looks childlike. So they made the female Asura wear male armor only.
Edit: not saying because this armor is sexy but its a general ruling they made iirc.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I doubt they will give you a refund. They don’t refund for player error. Your best bet is to think about making a light armor character and giving it to it. Who knows, maybe you will learn to like that profession if you try it.
Try out a thief maybe. Go to WvW and annoy the enemy players there. ^^

You said you “retired” a character does that mean you deleted it? Are you sure the items weren’t on the character you deleted?
Company B gave Company A that something to sell in the first place. If company B is offering a refund on their product it should go for the hard copy also. Its the same product, for the same price.
Company B didn’t give Company A anything. Company A bought the product from Company B to resell. Why would Company B offer you a refund for something that Company A did. Company A would have to offer you the refund then get a refund from Company B.
The pricing between Company A and B aren’t even the same. Having one offer a refund for the other would create a possibility of making money.
If Company A bought it from Company B for 40$ and resold it for 50 then I want atleast 40$ back
But how does Company B know you paid even $40 for it? You could of had some in-store credit (Fred Meyer for example gives you nearly same-as-cash credit every quarter based on how much you spent the previous, for example). Or maybe they had a sale, and you acquired it at the reseller’s loss (Or Anet sold it to them at a special price for a promotional deal). Then you would be having B give you more money than you spent on it in the first place!
And while often going to the manufacturer can get you prompt and speedy REPLACEMENTS, I’ve never gone to anywhere other than the place of purchase for a refund, either.
I have the receipt….
But not a receipt from ANet.
How many companies do you know of that honors the receipt from a totally separate company? NONE, that’s how many. If a company didn’t get money from you directly then they won’t refund directly. ANet didn’t get money from you and you can’t get a refund from them. The company you directly bought from is the only company that will give you a refund. That’s basic information you should already know to get around in life.
You spent ZERO dollars with ANet and that’s how much they will refund you.
It will BE here.
When it’s ready.

I’m afraid it’s permanent. Their policy is they don’t change display names unless they are the person’s actual name or if they violate TOS.
From a previous thread:
“This is not a service that is available, either through a purchase or through Support. Unless there is a specific privacy issues — that is, you used your real name or your email address for you in-game and forum display name — the name is permanent. If you fall into the small number of people who did use your real name or email address, contact Support for assistance. Please do not write Support asking for exceptions, for they will not be made”.

They separate identical display names by using the numbers at the end. In your case the .9416, and I assume your brother has a different set of numbers at the end. Only if the 2 are exactly the same with identical numbers will you have a case for getting it changed.

Probably not. They would have to rework the armor system significantly imo.
I’ve just been inviting an offline friend to my group, it lets me call target with the invite prompt open.
But yeah, definitely.
Really? I’ll have to try that. A nice workaround then.
Edit: that worked. You have to type the account name in the player name box, but after you do you can target.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Your brothers would each need to contact support. If there is a refund it will be sent to the card that was used to buy it.
But we paid with cash so I want it to be transferred to my card instead
Well, you will need to work out the refund method with support. Those are the people who will decide one way or another. In general though, it’s the account holders they want to talk to. If that’s you then you contact them. If its your brothers, they contact.

You might get an answer here but this is the forum for people who have account problems, like a lost password or they got suspended. You might try one of the PvP forums to get an answer.
The bar brawl one sounded cool. A constant free-for-all PvP fight as I understood it.
One thing that might happen if champions dropped a guaranteed rare, more money or a unique item is that you might get hordes of people camping the spawn points and farming them. If its good enough it will pull people from the Temples and other world events, making the Temples less likely to get done for one thing.
Maybe if they had a random, very long respawn timers to discourage people from just sitting and waiting for them.
Your brothers would each need to contact support. If there is a refund it will be sent to the card that was used to buy it.
Deleted a bunch of them one time and will delete the rest when they stop dropping.
The main problem is they are soulbound. Can’t sell them. Can’t give them away. Can’t put in guild bank for others to use later. I have 8 characters and each have some so if I were to stick them in my bank, not only will they take up 8 slots but each character can only take out its own.

Running around with a shrunken version of an NPC is immersion breaking.
To YOU.
Arena.net has defined certain limits that they don’t want crossed. A shrunken version of an NPC is within those limits. A player fighting an epic battle in boxing gloves is not.
A wooden toy sword, or a candy cane hammer is within those limits? You fool yourself if you think they are.
They are within those limits. Seriously, because Arena.net lets you do that.
As opposed to other stuff you can’t do.
And then if they changed the rules and it becomes what ANet lets you do, then they are within the limits also.
Unicorns with the ANet logo are fine because its currently allowable but costumes wearable in combat are not? That’s not a true argument against becasue all ANet has to do is make them allowable and then they are fine, according to what you are saying.
1) It would destroy the immersion
2) It would hide very important information
it didnt destroy immersion in guild wars 1 when i ran around in my jade empire costume, white mantle costume, or shining blade costume.
i want to wear my mad king costume in combat like i could in guild wars 1, i am never in town long enough and almost always forget that i even bought the thing because i never use it.
ofc it didnt destroy the immersion in GW1 because in GW1 that were realistic armor costumes
and not some mad king costume or a witch costume…Not all the Guild Wars 1 costumes were realistic. The Lunatic Court Finery that you could wear in combat made you either headless, have a flaming pumpkin head or headless but with flames where your head should be. So your argument here doesn’t stand.
There’s a witch costume too. And don’t forget the wedding costume.
Added the Lich costume to my comment. I had forgotten about that one.

Server switching for quicker achievements
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Astral Projections.7320
No. It’s perfectly fine to switch servers to do this. The Dulfy guide even recommended doing it on the effigy lighting achievement. Guesting is deliberately built into the game for people to play on different servers. An exploit is taking advantage of a bug, something not deliberately built into the game.
1) It would destroy the immersion
Yes cause running around with a Quaggan backpack or an 8-bit video game backpack, while swinging an 8-bit greatsword or shooting rainbow unicorns out of a bow with an Anet logo on them or beating people with a giant candy cane, while having a miniature Logan Thackery run along side you, doesn’t ruin immersion right? It’s obvious Anet doesn’t care about immersion or the game being lore-friendly. They do whatever will make them money, regardless if it fits into the game or not.
None of the things you mentioned ruin the immersion.
A player fighting in a chef costume would.
Why would that ruin immersion? There are chefs and pirates in Tyria. It wouldn’t be such a big stretch if they are all able to fight too.
Because that’s kittening stupid.
According to YOU.
Some people have a delicate, fragile sense of immersion. A sense of immersion that is somehow still able to withstand seeing candy cane hammers, Quaggan backpacks or unicorns with the ANet logo being shot from a bow. Or if not delicate and fragile then certainly selective.
If not buffed then maybe made a regular utility skill.
I was used to playing Guild Wars 1 where you could get an elite skill at level 1. When I bought this game, I didn’t understand about the restriction on the mistfire wolf to be unavailable till level 30. I bought the DE and have never used the mist fire wolf. You can’t use it till level 30 and by that time any other elite skill is better. I’m glad I bought the DE because of the minipet mostly. If I had bought it for the elite skill I would be regretting my purchase
If they made it a utility skill and lowered the cooldown it might be worth using.
Well apparently they take this thread very seriously. 2 suggestions from here have just appeared in the .dat files.
Snip
Oh? Which 2 suggestions?
My understanding is that it is to coordinate an attack on a target by all party members which is why it’s not set up for solo players.
However I agree that this would be very useful for soloers. It’s most useful when you are fighting some sort of boss and have to switch to an add to protect yourself. When you are done, if you have target called on the boss it’s easy to reacquire it. If you are solo, it means you have to tab through all the targets to get back to the one you want. It’s a significant savings in time and efficiency to have the target already called.
Solo players should have this ability also.
Account banned- Inappropriate name
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Astral Projections.7320
But this is my first offence and there was no warning. I feel that if it’s something as small as an inappropriate name then a warning and name change is warranted for the first offence, not a full suspension.
The reason why they don’t hand out warnings for first offenses is because they have learned that people will argue with them about why the name isn’t so bad and why it doesn’t need to be changed and so on and so forth. For that reason they stopped handing out warnings. When you download the game you agree to the TOS and agree that you read it. That is considered your first warning.
For the first offense on names they consider marginal, people often get a forced name change only. On names that they don’t consider marginal, they get a suspension as well. If you got a suspension then either they didn’t consider it marginal or this is not your first time.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-naming-policy/
If a character name is reported to us and is in violation of the guidelines above, for the first offense, you will be required to rename your character upon your next login and your account may be marked and suspended pursuant to Guild Wars 2 Conduct Breaches and Outcomes. For the second offense, we will assign you a new name and your account will again be marked and suspended pursuant to Guild Wars 2 Conduct Breaches and Outcomes. We may take further action at our discretion.
I was searching for information about this and came on this thread. Any news about it?
Is it already possible and if it is not any news if it might soon be possible?
They have never said they will change the current system. As far as I know, they haven’t even said they will consider it.
They still need a guild leader though. How does a leaderless guild get one?
Tonic Tuesdays, where players can only fight after using a tonic.
Lol. I read that as Toxic Tuesday and was expecting you to say they can only fight while drunk.
In GW1 when someone entered a pvp area with intent to gain points without playing, it was called leaching and you could report them That system is not yet in place in this game.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Report_a_player
Leeching
Reporting a teammate for leeching gives that player 2 dishonor points. If at least half of your team reports this player, a further penalty will be applied preventing any faction or XP gain in this match. If, however, a third or less of your team reports this player, you will also be given 2 dishonor points for issuing an unsupported report. Players with 10 or more dishonor points are temporarily prohibited from participating in PvP.
WARNING: Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned.
LOL, i’m still laughing at the way the kitty cat censor butchered your post. I didn’t realize that word was that offensive, but I suppose in some circles it is.
In GW1 when a leader leaves guild/got banned/steps down/or simply stops playing then the next senior officer would be auto-promoted in his place. That would be the highest ranking officer that has been in your guild the longest. I’m assuming something similiar is in place for GW2, however if you want a better answer you should contact support and ask them.
I don’t think they have a system yet in place to remove/replace an absent guild leader. This topic has already come up where someone got banned or stopped playing and left the guild leaderless. Iirc, the final posting on those threads was there wasn’t any system in place for this. Contact support but don’t get your hopes up OP.
It might be time to find a game where you can behave as you wish without penalty, and I’m guessing you will find a lot of like-minded players in that game, whatever it may be.
I think that game is called Solitaire
Or a single player game like Skyrim. And I am being serious here. OP seems to have problems with self control where other online players are involved and would probably do better with this sort of game.
No, if it were supported you would already have systems in place to allow you to just do that. You’re allowed to do it, but it’s not supported. They aren’t giving you easier and better ways to do that sort of thing because that’s not their intent for how to play the game. Being supported and being allowed are in no way the same thing. It’s not supported, therefore any suggestion to make it easier is a waste of time.
Just because you don’t play like that doesn’t mean other people don’t. The Devs gave each profession multiple sets of weapons with different skills. The bosses that you encounter requires different weapons for optimal combat. The game also allows you to freely switch outside combat. Unless you can bring up a quote from a Dev saying they expected people to stick with one set of weapons without ever changing, then that is merely your opinion.

The system isn’t designed to support your weapon swapping for a reason.
Didn’t say it was. I said an exotic safe box was a good idea.
Your point is pointless.
No, you just missed it.
Ok. This thread is about exotic safe boxes and whether they are a good idea. How does weapon swapping enter into it? I wasn’t asking for a weapon swapping feature for the Ele. I was saying a box for my exotic weapons to go to automatically would be nice.
Edit:
I also switch weapons around on my Guardian, Ranger, Warrior, Thief, Necromancer, Mesmer, and Engineer. They all have the same problem with exotic weapons ending up in random places in the inventory. I just mentioned Ele to make a point about that, as an example, not about weapon swapping.Really? It’s not about swapping weapons in your inventory?
Wasn’t sure if this was suggested but I think this would be a good item to have. Mostly to store the number of weapons I use in fractals and keep them separated from the loot drops as I switch weapons throughout the run. And lastly the icing on the cake is keeping all items in this box hidden from the vendor seller tab. Thoughts?
Because that seems to be exactly what it’s about. The point being that this is not a feature of the game because this is not the style of play that ANet supports.
Ok. In between combat I sometimes switch weapons on my guardian from scepter/shield and hammer to scepter/shield and mace/focus and later I might switch back. It would be nice to have an exotic box where the weapons go automatically instead of randomly into inventory. This sort of thing is allowed in the game. If it wasn’t a style of play that ANet supported you would only be allowed to change weapons while in town.
Are you saying that changing to a different set of weapons should only be allowed in town?
As JustTrogdor said changing the language is supposed to work and if not letting it sit for a while.
Hmmm. Ok. Sorry to hear that you were terminated.
