From what I can tell, black lion salvage kits are better for getting dark matter. As long as you have them, use those first.

Transformation tonics with1 hour effects. Useable in combat and no cooldown. (Like the Guild Wars 1 tonics). Wonderful for those who want to play for a while as a new race, different gender, role play as a different person/NPC.

Will we ever see a Race change?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

I’ve gotten the impression from what they’ve previously said that it’s not currently possible. That the races and professions are hard set at character creation and they don’t have the tools to go in and change them. They also have specifically said they can’t make changes to your personal story if you choose the wrong path and want to switch (which ties in with parts of the character being unchangeable).

It’s not just a cosmetic change. Races are firmly tied into their personal story, (such as racial sympathy choice which changes the NPCs in your home instance), cultural armor, home instance, racial skills, etc. A race change would mean they would either have to go in and change all that (and they may not be able to) or have races with other races’ specialties, such as an Asura with the Charr racial skills.

Hi everyone.
Thanks for asking. To change the race in the Gem store will not be an option in Guild Wars 2.

^

Yah. That’s proposing that a gift of exploration should be handed out to anyone who can make an alt, run it through the WvW maps, get the gift then delete and repeat as wanted to get another.

It’s not even remotely half the amount of time and effort the people who did map 100% put in.

I think ANet should first of all re-examine the way champs in newbie zones were nerfed out of existence. Was that really necessary to fix the champ train syndrome? What are the better alternatives to keep the Champ-quality Raid available for newbies, and yet prevent veteran players from dominating those newbie zone dynamic events?

One idea (I have not thought this through at all, so it can be a really bad idea!) comes to mind is make the champ event occurrence random, rather than time-based. Another idea is, perhaps in mega-event server algorithm, add something so that lower level characters can elect to be placed on the “newbie” mega server, away from high level characters intrusion. This "newbie’ mega server is not available to high level characters. It’s for NPE experience.

An existing account’s lowbie character, though, may choose this “newbie” mega server.

( I had posted in another thread to suggest “play style choice” such as “Light RP”, “Lore RP”, “Combat Academy”, in mega server selection. This is in the same vein of that “play style choice”.)

In case a new player has an old friend who is level 80 that wants to join him, then they will both be placed on normal server, where the friend can certainly help, but this won’t bother other new players.

I hope all newbies forever can have the NPE we beta players had.

Maybe bring back the champs in the starter zones but only have them drop level 8-20, rare, account bound gear. Something that the people leveling would value but level 80s would have no use for. This should stop the high levels from farming the champs while encouraging the low levels to try to kill them.

i said before but there is NO issue with timelines, revenants get their power from the mists which touches everything and every time – in the mists, time is nothing (go see the fractals) so why are so many people worried about plot holes in timelines when you’re dealing with something that is timeless – use your imaginations – jeez

So you are saying that Rytlock went back in time to teach us how to be Revenet’s?…

No, something far easier. When he became a Revenant, his power echo’d throughout the Mists, touching the past and future simultaneously, awakening all Revenants to their power.

That might work as a Star Trek type of rewrite of the timeline. ^^

If his becoming a Revenant had a burst of magical energy that spread both to the past and future that caused latent Revenants to appear in the new timeline in the past and the old timeline to be cut off or disappear.

Its not a plothole.
Ingw1 you could complete the Prophecies and Factions storylines as a Dervish or Paragon even though both of those events happened in the past

If you create a revenant you do so knowing that you are reliving the past although your character is grounded in present events.

Just as if you killed the Lich as a Dervish you did so knowing you were reliving the past, even though your character was already dealing with Abaddon.

I still see plot holes with the reliving the past theory.

Did my Revenant go back into the past or is he is remembering what he did in the past? Either way there is still the plot hole of a Revenant before Rytlock.

Is he still in the present but experiencing what happened to another? If he is experiencing someone else’s story, then is he going to be called Commander afterwards? The other people in that story, Logan, Traehearn etc don’t know him because they did it with the person whose story he experienced, not my char so they have no reason to call him Commander.

No its not a plot hole because it’s not part of the plot.

The whole thing in GW2 wasn’t you going to the past, thats how I’m explaining it.
It was non-canon. In other words it wasn’t part of the actual story.

If Rytlok is the first, and your human characters starts in DR to beat Zhaitain its a totally non-canon experience.

I’m afraid I don’t understand how if my guardian does the personal story, it’s canon. If my Revenant does the exact same thing, it’s non-canon. That rather sounds like special pleading to me.

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Special_pleading
“Special pleading is a formal logical fallacy where a participant demands special considerations for a particular premise of theirs. Usually this is because in order for their argument to work, they need to provide some way to get out of a logical inconsistency — in a lot of cases, this will be the fact that their argument contradicts past arguments or actions. Therefore, they introduce a “special case” or an exception to their rules."

In this case there are logical inconsistencies that appear. One type is if my new Revenant does the story line and another if he experiences as a past situation. If you say it’s non canon for him but not my other 8 chars, that also needs to be explained how come when he does it, the rules change for him when nothing about the story changes when each char does it.

What they did in gw1 for characters of different campaigns was say “the events that took place happened before you came here.” or was it after, I don’t know, but that would be a convinient way to to this

Probably, and then sort of gloss over and ignore any logical fails.

I’m sorry to tell you, but I’m afraid not. They do not do rollback accounts for any reason besides being hacked by an outside computer. They are unable to tell your problem from someone deliberately doing it.

The reason why is, people will lie and try to scam.

For example, let’s say I make a Legendary worth 4k gold. I give another person that Legendary and all my gold, mats, all valuables then delete my chars. That person equips the legendary so it’s in their wardrobe and uses the gold and mats to craft and buy stuff. I then contact support and say that someone else did that. If support rolls back my account, they put another legendary and all that gold and mats in the game. The person who got all my stuff claims innocence so they can’t be punished with an account rollback.

Repeat this scenario hundreds or thousands of times and it’s a real problem. So they have a rule, no rollbacks without a hack.

I suggest you step away from it and contact the authorities. It needs to be imploded before the gravitational forces suck the Guild Wars 2 game into it and we all reappear in Guild Wars 1.

Imo, the Asura need to be questioned about this. I doubt they are innocent.

I hope they thought up something clever because I can’t think of a way that doesn’t cause a plot hole or problem somewhere

If level in old map with the Zhaitan story line, will they be a Revenant before there are Revenants?
If no Zhaitan story line, how will the story line handle the other chars being commander and the Revenant not?
If level in the new zone: iirc they said it’s all level 80 maps. So, do they have a map “in the mists?” If they level there, will it be hordes of Revenants and only Revenants running around there? How do they keep that map population up enough later down the line when only a few people are making a Revenant? The map will be almost deserted.

The only thing I can think of is a new profession with basic, non Revenant skills, that level in the old map, has the Zhaitan story line, and transforms to Revenant after level 80 in the new map. I have no idea what they would call it though. If they call it Revenant, there is the problem again about being a Revenant before Rytlock. If they call it something else (before the transformation) it will confuse all the people who don’t know this and are looking for Revenants in character selection.

I was thinking that. But it makes a plothole if your char at least doesn’t have the option. You get called Commander in the game and the Biconics call you boss and follow you because they know you as the Commander of the Pact and one of the main people who killed Zhaitan.

Why are there still no capes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

There is a problem with people dueling and getting wrapped up in their capes, causing them to lose the fight.

Thats why we first need horses that can wear those capes and duel each other in the open world. Horses have much longer legs, and so they don’t stumble over those capes all
the time ^^

They tried that. There was however an unfortunate incident involving a horse wearing a cape and the Charr cattlepult that resulted in several fatalities. Lawsuits followed and this feature was removed.

I think by now, all horses have been beaten to death anyways.

Giraffes as mounts then .. even longer legs .. even less chance to stumble over their capes ^^

We already wiped them out. Haven’t you noticed? Go into any norn settlement or leatherwork area and you can find their hides, but there are no giraffe to be seen anywhere!

There are however other animals in the game. Dogs, cows, deer, etc.. I see no reason why capes couldn’t be brought into the game so they can wear them. This would be a really good fashion accessory for Ranger pets.

What if the server had a number of people (who are on teamspeak with most of the other WvW player on that server) put on the buff, run to different areas and report and the server uses that information in their plans?

They could rotate the spy duty between several groups of people who play regularly. They could offer incentives to non WvW players to do a run and report.

You might want to check with the WvW players about a free spy session per week available to all players on the server and whether or not this is game changing.

Probably wouldnt noticed if it werent for the dead player sign on the minimap.
Didnt think much of it at first, but one time there was another node real close, and when the dead player disappeared from the first node, a dead player popped at the other, under it, and nothing to see above ground.

Yah, the dead people underground are bots. If you notice, it’s hard to get their character name and report them, which is probably why they are doing that. If you can’t get a name, all you can do is report the area, the day, IP and server time and what is happening.

The trading post also is used as a necessary gold sink and if its not enough through that, then they will need to put it in somewhere else, perhaps the armor repair or increase in prices for supplies like salvage kits or harvesting tools.

In other words, if there were person to person trading like you suggest then you would still have to pay through some other ingame tax. So since there will be taxes, why should they put in a system that will avoid the current taxes?
