Maybe he is talking about the little sway at the end when someone stops running. I always thought that was mimicking real physics, where if you stop abruptly, you don’t stop and stand poker stiff, but there is a bit of sway where your upper body is still moving a bit when your legs stop.

If that’s it, then it’s a stylistic choice and it won’t be removed.

Selling on the LFG

Astral Projections.7320

Of course another red post would clear things up but I doubt we will see that. The only way to work with what we know at this point is to report people that are abusing the LFG to sell items. It is pretty obvious that the LFG tool was never made to trade items. If it is not a reportable offense then nothing will happen to them and there is no harm in reporting them. It isn’t like reporting them is an abuse of the report system since it seems to be a grey area to some. Report abuse only affects people that are spamming reports on people to grief or troll them. Honest reports out of concern for upholding the integrity of the game will not harm the person reporting.

That’s true. But it also affects the advice and information given on the forum. If someone is asking whether or not using LFG as a LFB is reportable, then I want to be both sure and accurate when I say that it’s a reportable offense and I want a post I can point to that says this, unambiguously.

If all ANet has said are statements that it’s unintended and has not clearly said it’s reportable, then I don’t feel we should be flatly saying that it is and I don’t personally feel comfortable tying up support’s time with possibly erroneous reports.

However those are my thoughts and feelings and obviously others can read the same posts from the Devs and see a clear statement that is reportable and not merely unintended.

(You can reach a bank, trading post, crafting or merchant by going to WvW).

Better to go to the PvP lobby for bank, TP, Laurels, and merchant…it’s always open (not queued).

Doesn’t have crafting which is why I specified WvW, but for the other purposes yes, PvP will do fine.

Astral Projections.7320

It’s close and can be read as such. Wanze said that it’s not the intended use and John Smith said he agreed that it’s not a place for a gray market.

Wanze said it was not the intended use after he said it was not allowed and John agreed.

Wanze.8410
“You can trade your legendary over mail but you are not allowed to use the LFG Tool to advertise your sale because its not the intended purpose of the LFG Tool.”

John Smith.4610:
The LFG tool is not a grey market tool.”

When someone from ANet agrees that is not allowed I see that as a reportable offense. Anet, “You are not allowed to do X” If said person does X then it is a reportable offense. That seems pretty clear to me.

If the person you want to convince that they can’t use the LFG to sell items reads it, they can also read it as

Wanze.8410
“You can trade your legendary over mail but you are not allowed to use the LFG Tool to advertise your sale because its not the intended purpose of the LFG Tool.”

John Smith.4610:
I agree with you. The LFG tool is not a grey market tool.

Where he agrees it’s not the intended use (because ANet does not support gray market trading) but he is not saying it’s a reportable offense. The difference is which part of Wanze’s statement is he agreeing with. All of it or just the part about the gray market (his specialty).

I know this is spitting hairs but if it’s actually a reportable offense and not simply an unintended use, I wish ANet would come right out and say, using the LFG as a platform to sell items is a reportable offense, as I don’t feel comfortable reporting people where it may not actually be a reportable offense.

I know using the LFG as a “look for buyer” is unapproved and unsupported by ANet. Does this mean that it’s actually a reportable offense? I hesitate to report if it’s not actually reportable (tying up support with reports that are not their province).

Can someone show an actual post where a Dev/staff said that this is reportable?

Will they also update the old maps with HoT?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

We know that with HoT we will get new areas to explore (the whole of Maguuma Jungles, as i understood it), but i’m wondering if the Devs will also use the expansion as a chance to update the old maps in order to reflect the current state the continent of Tyria is in. In other words: Will we finally get to see Orr with no undead swarming everywhere, or it will still be the same old place full of Risen and pact troops “ready to fight Zhaitan”? Will Lion’s Arch still be in ruins, or there will be at least some visible signs of an ongoing reconstruction? What do you think? I think it would be nice if the world map changes according to the events of the story, instead of having areas basically frozen in a specific timeline where nothing ever changes.

(I’m not english nor american, so i apologize in advance for any mistake i’ve made in this post. ^^’)

If they clear out Orr, how about the new people that haven’t done the personal story yet? Are they to go to an Orr without risen?

Hang Gliders!?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

I wonder if someone who has this ability can hang glide in present area. I assume that they will be able to.

You’d cross the current maps too quick unless the hang gliders are walking speed (yawn!). I suspect a convenient forget mechanic or they wither when outside the range of the new zones or something.

That said Vistas are bloody base jump points that reeked of things like this, hope I get proved wrong but unless the are walk speed it’ll feel like flying a plane but you can’t leave the airport of invisible walls.

They might depend on wind currents that are not available in the older zones. Causing them to drop instead of glide.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

First of all you’re on a level 3 character. I was under the impression you only had to do one daily at level 3, but even if you didn’t, it takes minutes, literally minutes, to get to level 5 or 6 or 7. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half if you’re slow to get to level 15.

Doing dailies on someone’s first character on a new account isn’t going to be the priority for most people, or really anyone I can think of. They’re learning the game and leveling. They’ll have plenty of time to do dailies.

On your second character, your WvW and PvP will work when you have one character leveled high enough.

On my level 3 character I was required to do all 3 to get the 10 AP and the full daily rewards. Not one, 3. I did one and progressed the bar by one/third.

Whether or not the dailies are a priority is irrelevant. I am pointing out a design flaw. I should never be presented with impossible things to do as my options. If the game gives me dailies and suggests I do them, then they should be something I can do.

The point about a second character is irrelevant. I am talking about choices given to a new starting account.

Astral Projections.7320

The best thing about the old system was how flexible it was. You didn’t have to go out of your way to do something very specific, or worse, tied to a certain time of day. You could play along as you normally would and do events, gathering, rezzing, dodging … in any zone you want! It was great! I like the new log-in rewards, but I wished they’d keep the AP system as it is – even if it means I would get less AP than I do now!

Again, if you want to entice people to try out different game content, you have to add more rewards instead of removing the players’ options and/or forcing them!

This sums it up. Add to that the fact that the old dailies were friendlier for alts and new players. I mean, how do you expect someone who just started the game to go to higher level areas?

There are still rooms for improvement, they could make the new dailies fun like the old. But as of now: Old Dailies > New Dailies.

Dailies are based on the highest level character on the account. New players will have different dailies.

That’s true, as far as it goes.

I bought a new account and my highest char was level 3 when I checked the dailies.
One was Ascalon miner. Doable because my new level 3 Sylvari knew how to get to LA then to Ascalon and then where to go to get ore (the low level areas don’t have nodes).

The other 2 were impossible for her to do. One was daily master of ruins. This unlocks at level 18. The other was daily PvP reward winner. PvP unlocks at level 22. To get her 10 achieve points she is required to do content that is locked all the way to level 22.

If a new person sees these dailies and wants to do them to get the rewards and achieve points it’s completely impossible for them to do so and I imagine it’s frustrating to see that it can’t be done until level 22. The carrot is dangling too far out of reach.

What good are dailies that are literally impossible to do?

The content is available, though – the interface just doesn’t provide the buttons and you’re not told about the game modes … NPE is horrible

The keyboard shortcuts, though, should work …

Hit “b” to get the WvW menu and you should be able to enter the borderlands this way

The PvP panel doesn’t have a default shortcut, I think. I set up Shift + B under options to get it.

By using those shortcuts you should be able to access WvW and PvP at level 2. Of course … nothing a really new user would be able to use/set up/comprehend …

I had forgotten about the key option for WvW and didn’t know (after 2 and 1/2 years of playing) that there was a PvP key option. So I logged in to check.

B, to get into WvW, did not work. Nothing happened when I hit it. I set up a key for PvP and tried it. Again nothing happened. When I mouse over the two icons, they say "this feature is locked until level 18 (WvW), level 22 (PvP).

So I made my way to the portals in LA to WvW. Those did work. Of course though, I was an upleveled with my earliest utility skill available at level 13 and no traits and no weapon swapping (level 15). I checked about the weapon swapping in WvW. I was unable to equip an alternate weapon set.

So even though theoretically I could do WvW (not likely but not impossible), PvP is out of reach and that makes the dailies literally undoable until at some unknown time when more options become available to a new char on a new account.
________________________________________________________________
The point I wish to make here is not the details of what unlocks when or how long someone might play before these things unlock. What I’m pointing out is that a new person should not be presented with impossible choices as their part of the daily. If WvW or PvP is locked and unavailable, then that should not be an option.

It was bad enough to expect a brand new person to figure out how to get to a completely new starter zone clear on the other side of the map. Having choices that are unavailable is unacceptable. It is poorly designed.

Probably not as armor. They said before that there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how they set up every armor to allow dye channels and styles per piece). This means to convert it to a different weight, it will have to be made from the start. Not impossible but it would take time and money, and I doubt there is enough demand for them to do this.

Now outfits with a plant theme might be a different idea and quite possible. You can post this in the Gemstore thread for them to see.

They announce a new engine for Guild Wars 2 with superior graphics, true interactable features and it saves your spot on the map if you DC. Unfortunately it has a tiny little bug. RNG characters. Everyday your characters are randomly switched to another profession and appearance. Names are also randomly switched between all the character names in the game. In addition, if your new name breaks TOS and you get reported, you get a 72 hour suspension.

They hope to iron out this bug soon and will implement the fix “when it’s ready”
