Do you think HoT will update Orr?

I just got finished saying I wasn’t talking about events, but the landscape…
It’s still extra work. Devs will have to be diverted from the the expansion. And again, are you trying to say that y’all will be hanging out in Orr after the expansion comes out? If not, why should they do that extra work for you when the new people would undoubtably prefer it to match their personal story.
That’s an asinine question, but I’ll answer you anyway. I still play ALL OVER Tyria, despite the new areas that have been added. It also doesn’t seem to take them a lot of effort to reskin places like HotM or the WvW maps for holiday events, so I doubt something like changing dirt to grass or coral to shrubs and trees is going to be that hard for them.
I already addressed the difference between the PS and an updated version of Orr. I see you ignored that too. Feel free to keep making pointless comments though.
You might still play all over the world but the likelihood is that the population in Orr will drop dramatically after the expansion is released. It does take Dev time (which will have to be diverted from the expansion now) to change Orr. It’s a matter of a benefit to a few people that want it (and not everyone does or there would be more than just the handful posting here) verses the cost.

“I Don’t think they are something you can buy from the TP.”
Looks like you can, but yes the prices are high.

if any updates to Orr occur it will only happen through the living World, HoT is all about our journey through Maguuma.
Having said that, its only been 2 years ingame time since the death of Zaitan. It will take a while for there to be visible signs of healing.
For you it’s been 2 years. For new players it hasn’t happened yet. Orr should be left alone so that new players can go in and see it the way it’s supposed to be for them.
Soon enough the level 80s who are done with the old maps will be in the new expansion playing. At that point, does anyone think they will really care if Orr is cleansed or not?
Actually, you have that backwards. The Devs have stated that the PS takes place in the PAST. There’s no legitimate reason that people that buy HoT cannot have an update Orr (or any other place in the world). It wouldn’t be any different than Pre and Post-Searing in GW1. If you don’t want to do the main game, you don’t see the new stuff. Pretty simple.
It’s still work to put in a redo of Orr with new mobs, events etc. Right now all their resources are going to the expansion. Why should they divert Dev time from that to rework Orr or to rework it after the expansion (when, I bet, none of you will care anyway because you will be in the new zones).
Are you trying to say that y’all will be hanging out in Orr after the expansion comes out?

I finally decided to get my tablet out and work on some suggestions for hairstyles. This is the first one, Wisteria inspired. I have a few more I’m working on, will post them as soon as I’m done.
*I know, the Sylvari looks a little unusual. I “digitally enhanced” it to look more realistic. What do you want, I love Sylvari.
That hairstyle is absolutely beautiful.
Johanson:
“For this one, we looked at what we would get out of adding a new race and what benefit it actually brings to the players from a gameplay standpoint. It’s very limited in Guild Wars 2. A new race adds a racial skill or two and a little bit of story, but it doesn’t give that much meaningful gameplay in the grand scheme of things. The race is more context for the early story that you experience. So we wanted to focus things that would provide a lot more gameplay and address parts of Guild Wars 2 that we felt like we really wanted to be able to make a better experience and grow. So right now, we didn’t feel that a new race was a key need for the game, whereas the other things that we’re adding really provide fundamental building blocks for the future.”
tl:dr
Nothing to do with the NPE. There were other things they could do that would be more important to improve the game so they did that.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
If they add new races it’s going to be after the expansion. They said they debated it and decided not to do it with this expansion. The NPE has zero to do with it.
I suspect OP meant personal story.

A fixed position over LA might be an option. That way when you leave it you are in a major city, the way when you leave the royal terrace you are in DR. I think that would increase the value of that ticket. More people would buy one if the exit was in LA.
I really like having them available to be easily seen but the could either be moved to a separate tab or below the recent achievements. Imo, the panel for chest rewards can be taken out now since we have the wardrobe.
If you’re a Male and not a Charr (Their racial chest piece has no coat/skirt) there’s really only 1 decent chest piece, which was added recently. You have to finish an Spvp track for it though.
If you’re a Female there’s 2-3 options, human racial and duelist.
For females there are also at least two gemstore options, Krytan and Strider’s. And those tops can be combines with other sets to have a miniskirt, short skirt or hot pants with thigh high leggings.

For some reason, when ANet was designing medium armor they decided that all medium armor should be long coats. There are only a handful of options that deviate from this design, and as far as I know they are all exclusively female armor, meaning that 2/5ths of the races can’t even make use of them, along with half of the remaining three.
Iirc there is one single male non Trenchcoat/jacket option. It’s the Glorious armor available thru PvP.
What if someone get an account wide unlock of waypoints after the first char and wants later to make a third legendary? It would impossible for him to do so as it’s map completion with waypoints included that give you the gift of exploration.
Snip
I reported the mail but there should imo be some place to give more explanation when reporting, if the report itself includes the mail
If you report an email using the “report the email button,” on the email panel, my guess is they will know to read the email and check that it breaks TOS.
They will not answer you here and tell you that something is allowed.
For one thing, you saying, or putting a video of, a mod can’t possibly give them enough information to see how it’s interacting with the client. For a second thing, if s/he say it’s ok but it’s actually not and you get banned, will you accept, “oops, my bad” as compensation?
I previewed the armor pieces for my ranger. The problem wasn’t that individual pieces aren’t nice, many are actually quite detailed and beautiful with the right dyes. It’s that so many have the same silhouette. It’s leads to the feeling, you’ve seen one ranger armor, you’ve seen them all. Females have a few non Trenchcoat/jacket to the hips options but males are severely limited.
Why aren’t there at least as many form hugging outfits for males. Why not more for both sexes?
Maybe the hair from B1 on the first picture, with the beard from A4 on the second picture, and the face from B4 on the 3rd picture.
It won’t be exact, but you can tweak the face a bit to get it a little closer.
Hi guys, Newbie here.. Can someone tell me which are west coast servers???
That post was a year ago and things have changed. The game has megaservers now. This means that the PvE maps are no longer tied to servers but are filled with players from all servers. The only reason now to pick one server over another is to play on a particular WvW server.
One possibility. One map in the new area that is a leveling map. The bottom biome is levels 1-26. The middle biome, levels 27-52. The top biome, 53-80. Once your char hits 80, it can leave.
There was another player who passed away last year and a similar thread was created. I suggested this then and suggest it again now.
I think it would be really great if Anet could somehow create an adventurer’s cemetery, something like the big one in Divinity’s Reach or the gully of cairns in Hoelbrak. Or perhaps in the upcoming Guild halls update, a memorial could be created so that players would remember those who have passed away IRL.
It’s a nice idea. Some things would need to be worked out though. How long would someone have to play to be eligible? Is this for everyone or just those in some way exceptional? If only for those exceptional, what are the limits? How would ANet verify that someone had actually died? Would they require a death certificate? (Because you know otherwise people will false report, either intentionally or mistakenly). If it’s for all players and if millions of people are playing over the years, thousands will die during this time. You mentioned a cairn. Will this be like a graveyard with tombstones with names of all the (possibly) thousands of players who died? How much space will this take up?
Just a few things that I thought of that would be needed to be figured out first. There are probably more.
Unless you are referring to a memorial without any names? A living flame sort of place.

If a gaming mouse is out of the question, how about using shift + key?
For example, primary attacks are 1-5. Then add the shift key to those keys. What is now your skill 6 becomes: shift 1. Skill 7 becomes: shift 2, and so on.
To do this, go to options, control options, click on the skill you want to change then hold down shift and the key you want to put the skill on.

I’m pretty certain that only one node can be added to your account, and that attempting to use the 2nd will give you a “you already have that content unlocked” error. However, I would not waste the potential money testing it. Just sell the 2nd one on the TP.
I made the basic mistake of assuming without checking that it was account bound. You’re right, since he (probably) won’t get a second node, the best thing to do is to sell it.
OP, when you are doing the “free” old content in WoW, is there a monthly charge for that, say $15, that you have to pay to access it?

If they update Orr, what happens to all the new people who get there in their personal story and it’s no longer controlled by risen, but healed? It would ruin their personal story.
Ok, good luck.
So you did change the language from French to English?
If it drops to zero it doesn’t lose it’s progress. It just picks up where it stopped.
Try reading this thread and see if it helps. 1-2 files remaining.
I had chaged I all around already.
I can change but nothing change
Not sure what you are saying here.
What I was saying was, if you had changed to another language it could be all of that language files being downloaded.
Did you possibly change language?
In other words, from what Gaile has said, selling on LFG is not a reportable offense and reporting is a waste of time, both for us and Support.
/sigh
Good to have that point cleared up.
I find how inertia effects how I move annoying in real life too. I’m going to write my congressman today to have it outlawed. Once it’s removed from real life, I will necro this thread, point out the new physics to ANet and join in with OP’s suggestion that inertial animations be removed from the game.
Keep up the good work Gaile. May your sense of humor and good nature survive working on the forums.
I liked it. Leveling was really fast and doing one heart gave a lot of exp. I checked /age at level 10 and it took me 25 minutes, whereas previously it would be much closer to an hour.
I think they should put in double XP weekends.
Pleeeeeassseeeee ANet. Double exp weekends!
Ended at midnight where ANet is located, Pacific Time.

I would assume so. It sounds like it’s only in the new maps and that those maps are level 80 content. So chars that don’t go to the new maps won’t have access to the content that gives the specializations.
But did the expansion? Campaigns were stand-alone; expansions are not.
Still, we might see a free character slot, though that has nothing to do with the OP’s concern over raising the character slot limit.
There was only one true expansion. It didn’t have a free character slot but it also did not come with any new professions.
Just because the character slot limit is currently fixed at 64 doesn’t mean that they won’t raise it to a higher number.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Considering that the base character slots is 5/account (which is an intentional money grab), it’s hard for me to believe that they will give you an additional character slot for free.
All the Guild Wars 1 campaigns came with character slots.
They might do what they did in Guild Wars 1. At the start of a new campaign there is a panel where you have new character slots to make the new professions for that campaign. They could do something like that. After that, they could have all the characters in the character select screen, or they could have two panels. One for the old chars and one the new and you click on the panel to open it up.
No matter. I think I’ll save my creative ideas; this game has too much baggage. I wish the elements of the game that I love could be replicated in another game because I don’t like this game anymore.
One thing I certainly won’t miss is the ever present and ever contemptuous forum denizens who always manage to be the first responder (and second and sometimes third) in every thread. I wonder if they are proud of the dark clouds they cast. I also wonder if they ever actually play the game.
If I was a person looking to hire someone and they said something like this, I would thank them for their time and put the application in the bottom of the pile.
I was thinking about the new profession and I kept on coming up with problems such as what OP said.
Where do they level? Where do they get their traits? The old maps or the new?
If old, will that mean people will have to level to 80 in Tyria before they can go to the new maps? Will they have the personal story that battles zhaitan?
In Guild Wars 1, each new campaign started with new chars, professions, maps, stories, and cities. I suspect ANet will do something similar. Perhaps there will be a background story in character creation that explains how a new, untried char traveled to the new area. There he chooses to become a Revenant. There could be a leveling map where the char could level to 80. If split into 3 biomes, the bottom biome could be 1-26. The middle, 27-52. The upper, 53-80. Once they hit 80 they can leave the map and access the level 80 content. There will be no Zhaitan story line for these chars as their history begins after Zhaitan’s death.
All other professions from the old content could start immediately in the new level 80 content.

I would think it would look extremely strange to remove it and stop/start running in a stiff manner as OP suggests. It’s not how it happens in real life and it would look unnatural to do it in the game. When you are running and stop abruptly, either you take another step to keep your balance or your upper body sways a bit as momentum keeps it moving forward while the feet are stopped.
I wish it didn’t end. I’m getting a char to level 10 in about 25 minutes. It’s great.
If there are brand new maps to level in from level 1 to 80 then I think I will use a level 20 scroll then tomes to level 31 to get my elites. If I have to level in the old maps then it will be an instant level 80.
Edit: I’ve started leveling a new char since I wrote that and I’ve changed my mind. Instant level 80 for me.

They aren’t accountbound until you double click on them to open up the package they are in.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Permanent_Black_Lion_Merchant_Contract
“Double-click to bind this item to your account. Will summon a personal Black Lion Merchant for 5 minutes anywhere. Allows you to access basic supplies and sell loot. Reusable.
Consuming the Permanent Black Lion Merchant Contract yields one Personal Merchant Express."
Until you double click on the item, it’s not bound and it’s sellable.
I’ve gotten one within this last month from a daily and some from an archieve chest.
First of all you’re on a level 3 character. I was under the impression you only had to do one daily at level 3, but even if you didn’t, it takes minutes, literally minutes, to get to level 5 or 6 or 7. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half if you’re slow to get to level 15.
Doing dailies on someone’s first character on a new account isn’t going to be the priority for most people, or really anyone I can think of. They’re learning the game and leveling. They’ll have plenty of time to do dailies.
On your second character, your WvW and PvP will work when you have one character leveled high enough.
On my level 3 character I was required to do all 3 to get the 10 AP and the full daily rewards. Not one, 3. I did one and progressed the bar by one/third.
Whether or not the dailies are a priority is irrelevant. I am pointing out a design flaw. I should never be presented with impossible things to do as my options. If the game gives me dailies and suggests I do them, then they should be something I can do.
The point about a second character is irrelevant. I am talking about choices given to a new starting account.
At that level, on a new account, they don’t suggest you do them. The flaw here is in your thinking. You’re trying to find a flaw where one doesn’t exist.
I’m pretty sure that there was a big panel that popped up after I clicked on my wiggle chest, showing me which dailies are available for me to do, and that I clicked on the ones I wanted to show on the side of the screen. I’ll have to check tomorrow after reset, but if it’s there then they are definitely suggesting that I do them.
I’m pointing out a design flaw where an account is presented with impossible choices as its set of the dailies. Your rebuttal that the daily isn’t required or that they won’t want to do them or wont notice them, is completely beside the point that I’m making, is wrong if there is the daily choice panel, and is irrelevant either way.
I wanted do the daily on that account and was prevented from doing it because it was literally impossible. Other people have bought second accounts. If they want to do the dailies on them with their new char, they also are prevented. How is that not a design flaw?
An account, at any level, should never be presented with options for the daily that are impossible to do.

Are you talking about moving forward and stop, but your character doesn’t stand straight and stop, instead he does a little lean forward animation?
exactly, im talking about that, my sugestion is to remove that animation or reduce it, would make the movment and mobility more smooth
I’m afraid it’s a stylistic choice and it’s unlikely they will remove it because it bothers one person, or a few people. It mimics natural physics where people don’t stop abruptly without swaying a little.
Well, I’ll keep on reporting people that use LFG to try to sell items. I have no fear that I’ll be banned for doing so. Nor do I think it will take resources from support. It doesn’t confuse me one bit when I see someone using the LFG tool to sell, as I know that isn’t the purpose of the LFG tool. I see it as spam and someone trying to work around the system. When I open the LFG tool I expect to find people that are looking to group with me. I don’t expect to find people that are trying to sell things to me.
If you choose not to report sellers using the LFG tool that is up to you. However, I will report them every time I see them to promote the integrity of the LFG tool.
If it’s not a reportable offense then it absolutely should be. Having sellers there not only clogs up the LFG but some players are going to think its a supported option and get scammed. (Currently on LFG, there is someone selling Spark and another one calling him out as a scammer).
I would never try to convince another person not to report as I could very easily be wrong about my reading of this. I’m mostly saying that I would like a definitive red post and that what they have said so far is ambiguous.
