Unfortunately, they reward us with a little bit of everything; something for PvPers, something for WvWers, something for PvEers, boosts, “fun” items, etc. So unless you participate in every facet of the game, you will receive stuff that is useless to you.
ANet can not know what everyone likes, so it makes a lot of sense to give us some sort of “gift certificates” with which we can select stuff we will appreciate. We don’t get AP Chests every day, and a reward should feel rewarding.
It would be nice if they gave us a chance to get hard-to-find stuff, like rare armor or weapon skins. (The Radiant/Hellfire stuff is the right idea, but I am soooooooo tired of being locked into Radiant for every character on my account. Why not let us pick from both? What the Hellfire? Must I get every Radiant weapon type unlocked before I see a piece of Hellfire equipment?)
Not sure what you mean here. There are no Radiant/Hellfire weapons and you get to chose one armor piece from either set when it comes up. Choosing Radiant once doesn’t mean you can’t choose Hellfire the next time. You aren’t locked into one set once you make the initial choice.
This thread made me curious enough to log into each of my level 80s to check.
Skill points used in crafting: ~1300
character’s unused skill points: 1294
Scrolls in inventory: 1010
All my characters were grandfathered into the trait system so they didn’t have to use skill points for that but once you’re done, skill points gain rapidly.
OP’s suggestion is only feasible if ANet has kept account statistics since launch. While they undoubtably keep statistics for the game as a whole, that doesn’t mean it’s kept per account. I would think it wouldn’t be, as it’s useless information that takes up data space.
To be more explicit, I already have one of each profession. Each is fully geared in a mix of exotics and ascended and has a full set of traits. If there isn’t a new profession to go with a new race, there’s little incentive for me to make a second profession that I already have, relevel, regear and go through the trouble of getting the traits for it.
Maybe it was RNG, but I got higher amounts using Black lion Salvage kits.

The profession they haven’t released for the race they haven’t released, is my choice.
why is it so wrong to make GW1 active again…….no really, are you so focused on GW2 that you don’t see what GW1 still has to offer.
they can add expansions, new chapters, update the graphics (and you don’t need a whole new engine for that).
heck, if they add more and more stuff for GW1 they can make it possible to add allot of stuff in both GW1 and GW2.
for instance, add the whole northern part of kryta/maguuma jungle as an expansion and within lore add this in GW2.
that way, GW1 becomes more active, they can add stuff for both games and even have a profit from both games.
There is nothing wrong with it but it’s an old game with dated graphics and an old engine (where you can’t even jump over an inch high ledge) that ANet has made its money off of and now they are concentrating their efforts (and budget) on this game. They might make a profit off of adding more content to Guild Wars 1 and they might not. It’s an older game and doesn’t have the “buzz factor” to draw in new people to pay for those new costs.
To make new content means either hiring new people, with their salaries and benefits, or pulling away people from their jobs in Guild Wars 2. Obviously doesn’t ANet feel the benefit cost ratio is good enough to do that.

Try being a dungeon runner. I’m drowning in Bloodstone and Ephemeral mats, but never, ever see dragonite :-(
I try to get by on a bit from LS and the occasional world boss, enough to make an ascended weapon every few months….armor? Forget it :P
You should try the Lost Bandit Chests in the Silverwastes. Each chest has either Dragonite Ore (10-20) or Empyreal Fragments (7-13). Putting in an hour or 2 in that zone will get you plenty of crests to exchange for bandit keys.
There are essentially unlimited numbers of skill points you can get. Each time you level, and you will continue to gain exp after reaching level 80, you get a skill point. Skill points are in various loot bags also (scrolls of knowledge).
Acquisition: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skill_point
1 skill point is earned for each of the following:
Completing a skill challenge (202 in game)
Past level 80, for every 254,000 experience points earned (one level).
Dessa’s Experiment Journal (purchased for 35 Fractal Relics)
Scroll of Knowledge
5 skill points are earned for:
Using Sea of Sorrows gained from the History Buff achievement
Levelling up:
8 skill points are earned at levels 20, 26 and 32.
7 skill points are earned at levels 38, 44, 50 and 56.
6 skill points are earned at levels 62, 68, 74 and 80.
May what they should do is make that game free to play and get their money off of the Guild Wars 1 shop. Being free to play would attract more people to an old game. I doubt they make much by selling the boxed games anymore.
That would be great. The game is already on steam. They could make it free (+microtransactions) with the premise that they would keep adding new content.
I doubt they would add new content as it would require either hiring more people or taking people away from gw2 work, so imo that’s a no go. However they might want to consider it because they would get some transfers over to gw2 as the new people finish their free game..
Oh, yes, I forgot another Hall of Monuments Portal Stone (surely one is enough?).
Are you sure you got a HoM Portal Stone from an AP chest? You hadn’t just forgotten about it in your inventory or something? You definitely shouldn’t have gotten one of those.
^
There are no Portal stones reported as rewards. There are a set of chests that repeat themselves. The Large Achievement Chest is given out every 1000 AP points and the items inside the chest don’t change.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Large_Achievement_Chest
2 copper
200 Badges of Honor
Box o’ Fun
2 Boosters (randomly selected)
2 blueprints (randomly selected), including superior versions and traps
2 Gem Shop items (randomly selected from those awarded for Daily)
2 Jugs of Liquid Karma
10 Mystic Forge Stones
That saying, while the items in the chest aren’t exciting (especially after you’ve gotten a few chests) they are useful. And there are the weapon/armor skins as well as steady increases to luck/gold/exp/karma.
I do like how we are, by storyline, heroes several times over, but hobos in our home instance. When hitting the nodes in my instance I’m not tending to stuff on my property, I,m chopping down trees in the park and swiping someone’s laundry off the nearby drying rack.
Reported for vagrancy, theft and destruction of public property.
(J/k)
It would be nice to have some sort of home/display place but I’m not putting any hopes this game will do that.
You’re asking people to give gold/T6 mats to someone whose first account was banned? Why does she rate this generosity from strangers?
A picture would help.

i have TONS of dragonite almost 500
what are they good for anyway ? XD
500 (2 stacks) isn’t that much compared to what you get playing PvE. I’ve used up 25,000 (100 stacks) of dragonite crafting ascended weapons and still have about 10 stacks left.

Is anyone noticing the new boss event isn’t giving bloodlust or Master’s bond to ranger pets. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Master%27s_Bond
I did it last night, zoned in on map that had the new boss event. I noticed I wasn’t getting bloodlust and my pet wasn’t getting Master’s bond. I thought at the time that it was bugged.
Perfect example of Anet’s unrewarding and messed up RNG philosophy.
Yet they repeat it over and over again. What definition does that remind me of?
Not making their players happy, that’s for darn sure.
“Tutelage Isles”
“You cannot die while training on the Tutelage Isles.”I find that little data mined tidbit more interesting than spears, personally. Where or where could they be?
Maybe a PvP training area?

@papry
I agree the drop rate is abysmal, horrific and imo a bad business move. However that does not mean that ANet agrees. I’m sure Gaile passed on what we said but if ANet didn’t agree then there is nothing further, truthfully, that she can say. If there is nothing new for her to say about changes to the drop rate, then there is no reason for her to pull up this thread and update it.
Yeah, you’re frustrated and I would be too if it were me (I saw that drop rate and decided not to touch it), but she is only the messenger.
Oh, and AP — that makes no sense, I agree. I’ll ask about that, it just seems so very odd! Unless that’s the Super Rare Extra Sparkly Legendary Unique Candy Corn Cob of Death to All Monsters™, it just seems strange.
I’m gonna make a BIGGGGGGGGGG SIGHHHHHHHHH……….
This is no error, this have been the case since the halloween event.
After all as the mini is account bound if( MAJOR IFFFFFF HERE) get a second one, you must be able to transform into something else, don’t you ?http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Gwynefyrdd
Just to be sarcastics, this was reported in this very same thread 2 months ago :
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Gwynefyrdd-the-Halloween-miniature/4528935A topic that stay on the first page of the forum for at least one month.
I read through this thread to get caught up, and there seem to be a few questions that I can address:
- The miniature is extremely rare, it’s true. But the drop is random, which accounts for one person getting a pooch in a few hundred bags and someone else not getting it after opening several thousand.
- One of our statisticians just checked the drop rate, and there is no error in the drop rate — it truly is dropping as designed.
- Diminishing Returns do not apply to ToT Bags. I mean, phew! I read that question and my blood ran cold, but I felt sure — and the designer confirmed — that DR is not a factor with the Trick-or-Treat bags. Open 1, open 100, the drop rate is not impacted by diminishing returns.
- I’ve passed along your suggestions. I believe that changes are not planned or even possible for this year’s event. What happens in future events — whether Gwynefyrdd will return — is not yet on the radar. Again, your thoughts and suggestions have been shared and I know that the devs do listen to your input. But what actually takes place in 2015 and beyond is not yet established.
I also want to say that I’d love nothing more than to have Gwynefyrdd for myself. One comment here — “he swims!” and I was gone. I truly wish all of you great good luck with this goal!
First you came on this topic saying that the abysmal drop rate of the mini was correct and dismissed any possible modification on the mini.
Just now, you discovered that the forge recipe exist and you find it strange.
I’m really disappointed.
There is a difference between telling us that a drop rate is at the level it was designed to be (what Gaile is saying) and saying that because it’s low, it needs to be changed. (what you seem to be saying).
It is an abysmally low drop rate and it is correct in the sense it’s at the level that’s assigned it to be. Whether the drop rate should be higher, is not something Gaile can say. She can only affirm the drop rate is mathematically correct as designed.
As to the recipe, she is Forum Communication Team Lead, not the knowledge keeper of mystic forge holiday recipes.

Tried it a few times. In each case I was subject to messages like, “Noob GTFO”, "Moa mekitten, “You suck, I hope you die”
I don’t care to participate in such a hostile environment that doesn’t respect sportsmanship. It is my impression that many PvP players cannot control themselves from insulting others when they lose or win. That is one reason I hope there is no open world dueling.
Agreed. The attitude is terrible.
I go to play in unranked, which I assume is the PvP map for noobs, and map chat is filled with, OMG my teammates are all noobs, everyone on my team sux so bad, etc, etc, etc.
That’s the main reason why PvE people don’t like PvP.
I saw this in wiki and my immediate reaction was, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I sat there and looked at it just to make sure I was seeing it right.

Candy Corn Cob
Source Mystic Forge Output qty. 1

1 Mini Gwynefyrdd
13 Chattering Skull
13 Plastic Fangs
13 Nougat Center
Yes, a recipe to make a candy corn cob where the first ingredient is a mini Gwynefyrdd.
Why did they even make a recipe for something where the drop is so low that almost no one has 2 and few have one?

Ty for that information. I’m no longer gearing up, but a friend is.
Because I’m gawdawful in PvP and can’t kill anyone unless they are gawdawfuler.
I am just going to take a guess that you are a very casual player with a small window of time you’re able to play and you don’t like being destroyed in pvp during the time you have to play.
Have you tried practicing with friends or group queuing?
All my friends hate PvP.
I’m working on it though. Every few days I do an unranked. I’ll never be good but maybe one day I won’t be gawdawful.
Because I’m gawdawful in PvP and can’t kill anyone unless they are gawdawfuler.
I also would appreciate being able to swap out my utility while it’s on cooldown – not that I mean I should be able to access my utility immediately as if it were off cooldown, but just allow it to swap and the cooldown to countdown like normal. Just a quality of life improvement.
Not sure I understand. Let’s say you have just used a utility skill with a 40 second cooldown and you want to switch to a skill with a 20 second cooldown. When you switch, how many seconds will it be? 20? That gives an advantage to people who switch right before a fight as the switcher only has to wait 20 seconds and the non switcher has to wait the full 40.
I took it to mean that they’d want to be able to switch skills during cooldown with the cooldown of the previous skill still in place, not reduce the cooldown by switching skills. Something like using a skill with a 40 second cooldown, switching to to a new skill with a 20 second cooldown about 5 seconds later, and still needing to wait the remaining 35 seconds from the cooldown already in place before it can be used (not suddenly counting down from 20).
So, they would have to rewrite all the cooldowns as X minutes unless switched to Y minute skill then the Y minute utility has X minutes minus time already used for that previous utility skill?
Hmmm. If that’s what he meant, I suspect ANet could do it, but it sounds complicated and likely to be buggy.
It’s not complex. You making it that way.
The Cooldown animation would be there from the 40 second Cooldown ability, but the icon on the bar is the new skill you chose. So when that 40seconds is done, the new skill is there to work like it normally works, since nothing changed about that skill at all.
Yes,
So, they would have to rewrite all the cooldowns as X minutes (40) unless switched to Y minute skill (20) then the Y minute (20) utility has X minutes (40) minus time already used for that previous utility skill?
That’s what I said.
They are going to have to reprogram it so that the previous skill cooldown overrides the new skill cooldown for the time of the switch since the new skill will be put into cooldown automatically at switch.

What is natural for non-human races though?
Lol. Well, from the pictures in this thread, it looks like hair extensions are considered natural.

However since ANet hasn’t specified styles for Asura and since Oola shows the styles can be elaborate, I would say just about anything goes.

It’s not a dumb idiom. It means ‘down the road’, as in later on down the road something will happen or later on in time something will happen. It’s just using an old slang word for a particular type of road.
I’ve heard it before, but not recently I admit.
I know it’s not dumb, it’s just, I didn’t think to look it up and now I’m the dumb one. And to the other people, I’m in my early twenties if that means I should have heard it before or not. So, maybe some breaks on the hype train.
Well, not dumb to not google. Can’t think of everything. Just don’t give yourself a massive headache about it. ^^

Out of curiosity, what did you think “Unique” meant?
Not op, but I thougth “Unique” meant like special ring that is so rare and powerful, it has it’s own name.
I, for some reason, can equip 2 ascended rings that are the same. Not sure if it’s a bug. Both are infused.
But if that’s what it meant, why wouldn’t every other named item in the game have the word “Unique” on it? Or Legendaries?
To me it meant an item that has a set of stats that no other item has with no reference as to whether or not you can equip 2 of them (and since you can equip 2 identical unique infused ascended items, it’s not consistent in its meaning).
That seems like a rather illogical line of thinking, though. Why would they bother marking that?
And to anyone confused by it, why wouldn’t you just type “/wiki unique” to be sure?
I came from Guild Wars 1, where the word unique for weapons had a particular meaning there referring to the stats only and for other items for their rarity. When they changed it to the new meaning, they could have made a warning and saved the players time and laurels and support time and money.
As to why would they bother marking that, they did it in Guild Wars 1 with unique weapons, minis, tonics, etc. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Unique_item
Why should I have thought to wiki a term I was familiar with in the preceding game made by the same people, a game that is the successor, the follow up game, to the original?
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)

It’s even more annoying to DC in the last few minutes of a Teq event and come back to a different map, usually a failed one that gets you killed by exploding fish heads (as well as no chests).
The last time I DC’d was at the very start and landed on a new map with lots of people but zero organization and the bone walls already going up (and mobs everywhere).
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
It’s especially confusing to old Guild Wars 1 players as the term unique in that game was used for weapons with maximum stats for their level but the game didn’t stop you from equipping more than one at a time. They added the restriction in this game but didn’t add a warning.
Well, you couldn’t have more than one of the same weapon equipped at a time at all, so it’s not really a fair comparison.
You could put them in your weapon slots, like you could put 2 of the same weapons in your weapon slots in this game. It’s called equipping when you do that in this game. It’s true you don’t use them at the same time but it is equipping and in this game, soul binding when you do so for the ones that soul bind.
It’s not an identical comparison but it has some important similarities.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
They also haven’t fully seemed to make up their mind whether charr are variants of wolves or cats.
I would say variants of cows or cats myself
You can’t see gold to gems transactions but you can see purchases. You can check there to look at your purchase history in case you bought something and forgot or if someone accessed your account and made purchases.
I agree that Guardian is closest to what you are looking for, but do not expect this game to be like your other games. If you don’t accept it on its own terms and you try to play it according to another game’s rules, you will be disappointed.
Eh, i’ve never really understood why people think that because Charr are felines, that they must have every feline characteristic. Going by regular rules of anthromorphic DNA ratios, the number of characteristics stems from how humanoid the anthromorphic race is.
What are anthromorphic DNA ratios? I googled it and didn’t find that term.
If you are talking about fantasy creatures, it’s whatever the lore says it is.
It’s more akin to the furry fandom, which Charr ultimately fall into, being an anthromorph in a fantasy world. You are right it is whatever the lore says it is though, so people saying that something has to be anatomically correct certainly doesn’t apply.
I’m not sure that ANet has clarified in its own mind if the Charr have 2 or 6. I’ve noticed the males have 2 but in a long ago discussion inside the company published before the game came out about whether the females should have breasts, the designer basically said, 6 or none (visible human like breasts). So they went with none.
So, in spite of the males showing 2 they said the females have 6 (even though that is biologically inaccurate for terrestrial mammals).

What is the excuse for all those non zerker players and stuff?
Ah yeah, “play how you want”, there we go.
I hardly think preferring one set of stats or build over another is the same as preferring to troll or grief others.
Bad analogy is bad.

Datamined charr female textures don’t even seem to have nips.
Removed as being too pornographic.
J/k. :P
For those saying Charr have 6 nips, should go play CoF story again and/or go look at Gaheron. He only has two. Also keep the unisex armor for charr at least.
Well yeah… they’re male. xD
Males and females have the same number. Have you ever looked at your male dog or cat? Same number as the female.
I stopped listing mine. I deleted a few stacks and stuck a few stacks in my personal guild bank in the (extremely unlikely) hope ANet puts in a new use for them.
I thought about making ice cream for a karma boost but at 5% gain it doesn’t feel worth it.
