I go away for 4 weeks, come back to the new daily system..I have to say I h8 it..
I dont do fractals or WvW or PvP.. my choice..
no hope of ever completing it..
now more than ever is GW2 more un friendly to the casual gamer
oh well it was fun while it lasted, there are now other games that do much better in player reward system that just make u want to log on to complete them ,GW2 has again shot its self in the foot…All that you get for completing the daily is 10 AP. All the other rewards are tied to the system for just logging on each day. If the AP is important to a player, they vsb complete the daily.
Well, that’s not all the rewards. There’s the chests with extra advancement on PvP titles, liquid world experience, pristine fractal relic, agony infusions, badges of honor, tomes and writs of knowledege, various mats, sips of karma, etc. depending on which you do.
I was referring to the daily as in the 3 achievements.
Not everyone is motivated only by AP points. The rewards to get extra advancement got PvP was enough to start me on my first title track.
Since the person you responded to said, “other games that do much better in player reward system that just make u want to log on to complete them,” just saying 10 achieve points is the only reward for completing them might be accurate but it doesn’t cover all the rewards for doing them, especially since it makes the rewards for doing them appear less (which is what he was complaining about).
My impression from reading his post was that he was referring to the daily itself and not the individual achievements. Him saying that he doesn’t like fractals, PvP, and WvW is what led me to that. If he cared about the new rewards for completing a daily achievement, which are related to that achievement, then he would just do the ones that he enjoyed and would not have made that post. Since he made the post, he’s complaining about the difficulty of completing the daily the way that he wants.
I read it as both. The daily is impossible to do, the rewards are poor and other games reward you better for doing the daily.
Possibly. He was a bit ambiguous in what he was referring to with rewards whether it be the rewards for completing an achievement, from completing the daily, or both.
Well, if someone logs on and immediately decides the daily is always impossible and not worth doing, then no argument is going to change their mind. So it’s kind of moot. Lol.

or at least reduce the amount of skillpoints necessary for unlocking.
Apologies for the tangent, but why are SP the part people complain about? For me it’s the gold cost that’s prohibitive. I have more SP than I can ever possibly use, and get more all the time whenever my 80 “levels” (not to mention those from exploring maps I haven’t completed yet).
I’d think that experienced players wouldn’t have much problem with either part of the cost (aside from the historical anger that the cost used to be over 10x cheaper) – and they’re probably what the costs were designed around. Is there some other important SP sink that level 80s need to save for?
Experienced players may have an excess, but new players need them to buy skills as well as traits. I remember when starting out, having to accumulate skill points before I could get an utility skill. It would have been doubly painful to have to save up for traits as well.
For experienced players, a legendary requires 200 skill points. People may be saving up for that. Many use skill points to make gold by promoting items in the mystic forge and no longer have excess skill points for that reason or don’t want to give up that income. If you make ascended gear, it takes 20 skill points per piece. A number of mystic forged weapons (with unique skins) take 50 sps.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
You can ask, but the answer might be no. From what I’ve read, If you bought gems (then the item) with real money, there’s a chance. If you bought gems with gold (then the item) I gather they don’t track these purchases and neither give you the item nor refund the gems.
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/46419166-Wardrobe
Please note that skins or partials skins that you previously purchased but which you no longer possess will not be unlocked on your account. The Guild Wars 2 Support Team cannot unlock skins that fall into this category.
Lots of useful ideas in this thread.
I just have a problem with it because it’s overtuned in comparison to the other rushes. The others, you can go along with transformed guildies and shepherd them through by killing mobs. You can’t kill the hatchlings for them, and there’s a bunch of them. Plus of course, the killable mobs are both level 80 and some are harder to kill than regular level 80 mobs which slows the clearing part down.
Maybe if the transformed guildies had a partial immunity to normal mobs and shorter cooldowns with skills, this rush wouldn’t be so frustrating to so many.
Most people aren’t particularly chatty with strangers. Being in an mmo isn’t going to change that. Some will start talking and get a few others to respond but the rest are either silent or talking to those they know.
People really should keep in mind that ArenaNet have said a grand total of nothing about this as far as I am aware.
The only reason this thread exists is due to the fact that someone saw that they had a scheduled appearance on the PAX homepage. ArenaNet themselves have however not even mentioned it.
They reserved the largest room for the longest amount of time of anyone at the conference… if that isn’t hype then what is?
Needing a lot of space for those coffee tables.
Really, i have seen Anet hype many times already. This isn’kitten You really shouldn’t expect any meaningful reveal to happen. They need all that space to show nothing is off the table.
I bet even the speakers will be on the table.
In fact, if Colin isn’t laying on a table, I’ll be sad
I’ll take a photo from there, with the whole conference team sitting on chairs on top of the table, and make it my computer’s wallpaper.
I just want a way to be able to open the daily login window again so I can see where I am in relation to finishing/what rewards are coming up next.
If you go to the Hero panel then to daily, you can pull up the panel that shows all your options for that day and it shows which you’ve done. If you select the ones you plan to do they will be on your UI and disappear as you do them.
What… no this doesn’t do at all what I asked for. I want to be able to open the daily login window again. You simply cannot access it once you close it.
Ah, you mean the login rewards panel. I use this to check what’s coming next. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Login_rewards
In game you can type /wiki in chat then search for login rewards. Not elegant perhaps, but it gets you the information.
Hopeless, Hapless

Mesmer portals work. Have fun.
That’s an interesting thought. Lol. I might have to suggest it next time we have this and people start dropping out.
I dislike this one. You can’t even effectively help by cleaning out the path like the other rushes can be for guildies, as the hatchlings are green to you if you aren’t transformed.
Needs to be toned down for sure.
Try dyeing the armor piece all one color then redyeing. I couldn’t get a pair of boots to hold a new dye once and that fixed it.
Hey if they’re passionate about the game and their players, why not?
Because the forums isn’t the game and probably has a different staff that works on it altogether. Or did you think the guys making the game itself are working on the forum? lol
It’s also almost midnight in Washington state. I guess we could try to get them out of bed, but maybe this could wait till the morning.

Please don’t add Fractals to daily anymore! It’s only a sideboard game and has nothing at all to do with PvE. Anet, if you really insist: make a new section called ‘Dungeons’ and add them there!
Not sure if trolling. How are Fractals (and dungeons) not PvE? Just because they may be less casual or easymode PvE does not mean they are not PvE.
On the other hand, I would be all for adding an additional 4th category for the dailies (Fractals/Dungeons in addition to WvW, PvP, and Open World PvE) so there were 16 total to choose from. In exchange, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to ask for 4 tasks to be completed instead of 3.
I’m sure there are many dungeon runners who would not enjoy PvP/WvW, and are also bored to death at the thought of gathering wood or spamming 1 at events.
You are missing the point: a lot of PvE players play solo and only team up for events like Teqatl on an open map. And no, it would not be reasonable to ask for 4 tasks instead of 3 for the same reason: We ONLY play (solo) PvE, and have no other choice to make.
What does the second ‘M’ in MMO stand for?
Myself? Monoplayer?

Might I inquire what the name of your character was?
Gaile has specifically asked for these names not to be posted on the forums as most do break TOS. There has been the occasional banned but innocent name, but that’s pretty rare.
Maybe it means that the accounting people are lighting fires under the marketing people saying, “More sales!”
i like to play gw2 dont get me wrong but as for time, i dont play that much and i would rather enjoy that time in wvw or friends(online)
Of course, but those are your options. They’ve said repeatedly that there will be no race changes so it’s not likely to be available in the near (or even far) future.
I suspect from what they’ve said that’s it’s literally not something they can do without causing major bugs because of the way personal story is part of character creation. One post from a Dev made a joking remark that no Asuran technology could so it, which I take as a roundabout way to say ANet doesn’t have the technology.
Since it won’t be an option you can either not change or you can use what’s available.
@HtFde
What is a “map farming server” in PvP and how do you find or get on it?
It’s not a map farming server but a rank farming server and the farming takes place on two different maps
Call up the PvP interface (top right icon with the crossed swords) and choose the 3rd tab (game browser). Farming servers are listed as such under the description (e.g. [Rank Farm] Red Caps, ….) and depending on the map (Skyhammer or Kyhlo) you know what to expect if you did read my previous post.
Edit: Select one of those entries and hit “Join Game” – depending on the amount of players you might not be able to join – so select one that’s not full or wait a bit. (If it says 18/20 but has 2 reserved slots in the description it is full)
Thanks. I’ll check it out.
ehh too much work lol
This might be the whole problem right here.
Finally. MOUNTS! They’ve been spending all this time putting barriers around jumping puzzles, taking out waypoints and getting a license agreement with My Little Pony.
Coming soon to a Guild Wars near you.
You can get 16 tomes of knowledge just for logging in for 28 days now. Doing the dailies gets you writs. Those take 20 for one level but they accumulate, especially if you do more than the minimum 3. Throw in the tomes from PvP, and it’s even more.
It won’t take long before people who play regularly will have enough tomes and writs to reach level 80 right after character creation. It’s possible that all these tomes and writs are ANet’s answer to those who want race changes.
“Slayer of Mice”
“Made me Macro”
If it got deleted by reddit, maybe it wasn’t really all innocent fun.
Get sufficient mats to level all crafting to 400, this will get you to level 58 (the 2000 gems can be sold for gold to finance this). Do enough PvP/PvE dailies to get enough tomes/writs to finish. Delete old char. Remake. Craft and use tomes/writs. Enjoy your new char.
I did a race change, necro Sylvari to necro Norn. Not that big a deal. Leveling is fast, especially if you throw in some crafting.

ANet so far has said no.
Race changes:
1) I am afraid that the team does contemplate different possibilities and new features for the future but this one is not among those. Source
2) There are a lot of far-reaching consequences of allowing one character to play through every race’s personal story or equip any cultural armor/weapons. For now, we feel that it would take away from the experience of Guild Wars 2 for the majority of players. Source
3) Thanks for asking. To change the race in the Gem store will not be an option in Guild Wars 2. Source
I’ve heard of support sending another in cases like this. Give it a try.

What is a “map farming server” in PvP and how do you find or get on it?
Well, nice to know. Maybe I’ll take a key runner to that level and get the armor for professions I don’t have at level 80.
I think I’ll wait till I see ANet say it before I get my hopes up.

we expect NCsoft to release an expansion pack for Guild Wars 2 in Europe and the US in 2H13.

A Guild Wars 2 expansion pack is underway, MMO publisher NCsoft revealed in its recent earnings report.

It gives a piece of cultural armor at the end of the level 20 story arc? That must be new as wiki doesn’t say that.
For example
Rewards: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rumors_of_Trouble
All professions
Leather Bag (8 Slots)
2 Bags of Loot
Profession-specific: One of the following: Ruby Heart, Amethyst Heart, Sapphire Heart
What piece did it give you, out of curiosity?
They’ve been wrong before on this, said an expansion was coming and ANet says no.
Oohhhhhh. Me want! Me get!
No, probably not. They weren’t in Guild Wars 1 and this game has waypoints so mounts aren’t needed.
Here is a thread about you can read: Mounts: and post in if you want.
That candy corn is on orphanage property. Since I bet you have never spoken to anyone in there if it was ok for you to put it on their property, then you owe whatever fees they wish to charge you.
You can’t go putting stuff on others people’s land without permission! Since it’s been there for several months, I’m no legal expert but I would say it may belong to the orphanage by now.
I suggest you contact a lawyer.
They’re not going to hand out this information. The best you will be able to get is some of the people who post in these forums, self reporting and giving their reasons. But zero chance of ANet posting their metrics.
I got Delusion once while on my Ranger. I can’t remember what else I got.
I suspect there is one big problem with race changes. The personal story may be hard set into the hero panel because of the way character creation is set up.
In other MMOs, if there are more than one story line, does it start with character creation or with talking to an NPC afterwards to begin it? It it starts after creation, then it’s modular like a quest is and like a quest can be deleted before finishing or finished and deleted. Guild Wars 2 may not have the tools to remove and change the personal story line then there is a good chance, imo, of causing large numbers of bugs when you have a char with one race’s story and another races appearance, since the race and story are tied together.
In one of the sources from my previous post, a Dev said in response to someone asking if they could switch from Asura to another race, “There is currently no Asuran technology that can rewrite the very makeup of a being’s DNA code.” Which I take as a joking way of saying, ANet does not have the tools to do what he is asking.
I agree though. It would be nice to have a definitive statement saying why.

Discovery: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crafting#Discovery
The discovery tab allows you to attempt to mix and match components to find a new recipe. Drag and drop or double-click items to add (or remove) them from the mix. When using the discovery pane, you only see items which fulfill all of the following criteria:
The item is in your inventory or your bank/collections tab.
The item is part of an undiscovered recipe.
Items are highlighted in red when they are part of a valid recipe that require a higher crafting level to discover.
I would say, yes. If you have any that needs to be discovered then the item will be in the discovery tab. If it was no longer in the discovery panel, how would someone craft ones with a new, undiscovered, insignia?
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Edit: or maybe not so hard. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dominion_of_Winds
The Shuttered Gate in Lion’s Arch is said by its tengu guards to lead to the Dominion of Winds, but isn’t likely to lead directly there as Lion’s Arch is not directly next to the Dominion of Winds, …..Well, this is moot, as there’s no shuttered gate anymore. The destruction of LA buried it in rubble, and all the guards disappeared.
Which, i guess, is Anet’s way of telling us “No Tengu in foreseeable future”
How about Caledon? That one, it’s guards, and the skill point Tengu are still there aren’t they?

I was getting five to eight AP every day while having mild fun in Dry Top, SW, or Orr with top level characters with top level gear. The 10k chest was in range. Now I’m supposed to stand around in a swamp waiting for an oh-so-scary Behemoth, or maybe kill lvl 8 slimes in Metrica Province. I’m not gonna do stupid pet tricks, so the chest is no longer in reach and my desire to play has slipped to the point where I am just senselessly logging on and off for the daily reward. The trait change, the daily change, the lack of expansion, and the appalling lack of communication is becoming too much. All very personal, I know… Not being a good little metric, I know…
You’re not supposed to wait for the champ or to kill level 8 slime somewhere. You’re supposed to pick of the 12 activities available 3 (!!!) and complete them. Unless you’re one of those “I don’t do dungeons, nor fractals – and anything where I might be killed by a player …” players you can get those 3 activities done in less than 10 minutes. Then you have 10 AP (more than you said you had previously) and can spend the rest of your playtime doing whatever suits you.
You know, you are right. I am limiting myself.
I’ll just hop into PvP matches I don’t want to be in, kitten around and be completely inept as I won’t know what to do or care, and generally drag down my team just to get dailies done faster. Not like I know how to fight other players, nor do I have any desire to learn as I don’t want to be there.
I’m sure everyone involved will enjoy that.
^
I’ve been doing the PvP thing now, not that I know what I’m doing or can ever win a fight in 1 vs 1 (cuz I’m awful at PvP). And such a pleasure to be hearing my teammates say, OMG my teammates are such noobs.
Forget the story, drop new race in the gem shop + race change feature, problem solved.
I know it’s been discussed at length before as to why a race change option cannot work. IIRC the devs even were saying that because of the PS, it makes changing races impossible. For example, say you are at PS level 30 for a Sylvari, and wanted to make that character a Charr instead. Would you just start the Charr story at level 30? But which story arc? The different story arcs are very different based on the choices one makes in the PS, and cannot be simply transfered over. What about the Order specific missions? In you can choose to help The Vigil, or the Priory. If you choose the Priory, it’s a very different mission then The Vigil one. Also, the character development options are very different per race. For Sylvari, you choose which time of the day you are born, your great hunt, etc. For human you choose which god you serve, what economic class, and your motivation. Again these things cannot be transfered over to a different race.
Treat race as nothing more than a skin being applied, continue the story as is.
Many players don’t care at all about story, and find fun through features like race change more appealing, or enjoy both like me. Two of my characters made it to lvl 80 and never even left LA between level 10-80, and another two characters leveled through WvW/scrolls. Some parts of the personal story jump around now skipping veteran portions (I have read about, have not leveled another character through the story since year one, RIP Tonn).
Unlocked through the gem store MIGHT work, however what about how the new race fits into the lore? The new races PS, and how they fit into the Orders. Kodan for example. While there are a few Kodan in the Pact, or at least considering joining the Pact, would they be able to become The Commander of the Pact as there are so few of them even involved? And so on and so forth. So any new race would HAVE to have those things taken into consideration and be able to fit into the current story before it can ever happen.
Same as I mentioned above, it doesn’t have to fit lore, treat it as a skin…a malfunction due to fotm travel, Asura engineering malfunction gone good, whatever. We already have many things in game that have an odd place in lore and immersion, take for instance minis, tonics, sab, and half the items in the gem store.
I can see implementation in character creation causing a bunch of work, problems, and possibly far more work than it’s worth for Anet, especially when it’s not monetized like it would be through the gem store.
I can see an item in the gem shop like the Total Makeover Kit, but instead would be something like Tengu Race Change Kit, Kodan Race Change Kit, etc..
While many don’t care about the story, There are many more who do. Some of the main reasons many people want new races is to have a new story line, new racial skills, a chance to experience that paticular races culture, etc. If it was just a cosmetic change, then it’s not really adding a new playable race. If such a thing were implemented can you imagine the backlash? “They said they were bringing a new race!! Where is the new starter zone, home instance, racial skills!? Why can’t I create from the start!? It’s false advertising!!! And I have to buy it though the gem store!? What kind of Dolyak excrement is that all about!? This isn’t a new race, it’s a frakking skin!!! Death to Anet and their lies!!!11”
Yeah, just a cosmetic change like that for a race would be a terrible idea.
Good thing nobody would force this upon those that care about that stuff. I could care less about any of the stuff you mentioned, and it seems to work very well for SWTOR players, and a source of revenue for EAbio. Selling race skins in a cash shop for a b2p/f2p model is nothing new.
Ya a few may come to the forum and complain, but it will sell.
I was thinking that the reason why they can’t sell race changes is because in other games if there is more than one storyline, the storyline is added on after character creation. After creation you go to an NPC and speak to them to start the story line. With Guild Wars 2, it’s part of character creation and maybe not removable as it’s not modular. Changing race where you have one race with a different race’s story line might cause major bugs.
I personally save on my IPad, links to old threads as well as selected responses to commonly asked questions.
This helps but a sticked thread where links and answers could be saved would also be useful, as long as people don’t post nonsense or get into arguments on it.
As an example:
Let’s say a thread comes up about race changes. I have these 3 links saved where I can go to and pull out answers.
Race change:
1) http://www.guildwars2guru.com/arenanet-tracker/topic/243694-race-change-option/
2) http://www.guildwars2guru.com/arenanet-tracker/topic/258544-race-change/
3) https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Race-Change/first
If this was posted on a stickied thread with other similar posts, it would be easier for people to find the Dev responses.
Wait, did you start a thread on the same topic of a thread that got locked to discuss why it got locked? So you are asking for a thread with Dev responses to be stickied to make searching for things easier? Which is what the locked thread was about, and closed because we already have that. I am so confused….

This is about coming up with a solution to the problem that the other thread was trying to solve. If you would have read past the first sentence (or even finished reading the first sentence…), I believe that would have been made clear. At no point do I dispute whether or not that thread should have been locked, try to contest the decision, or attempt to duplicate the reason it was locked. The content of my OP is quite different from the locked thread, I suggest you compare them directly before making assumptions.
Information is hard to find on these forums. I’m merely suggesting a solution to that problem — the only reason I reference the locked thread is because of Mark’s claim that the Dev Tracker is a suitable means of finding answered questions — my point is that it is not, and I suggest a solution that would require very little effort from ArenaNet, uses existing forum functionality, and would be an immense help for forum readers.
Thanks for understanding :-)
^
Maybe to Mark, the Dev tracker is a suitable means of finding answers but it’s not possible to use it on the forum and if you don’t remember the Dev’s name or the exact words or the time, then it’s difficult to impossible to find by google.
Even knowing the name it can be very difficult to find old quotes.

It would be nice to have a clue as to what you are talking about. Helps with the discussion and all. Though from what I’ve seen on some threads, not always necessary.
