Down the pike is an American idiom meaning that something will happen after a stated period of time.
http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/down+the+pike
down the pike (American)
if an event is a particular period of time “down the pike,” it will not happen until that period of time has passed.
Example: Five years down the pike, they’ll probably have a kid or two.
http://grammarist.com/usage/down-the-pike-down-the-pipe/
“In coming down the pike, the noun pike is short for turnpike, which is a broad road, sometimes a toll road. This usage of pike originated in the U.S. in the early 19th century, and the earliest known instances of coming down the pike appeared around 1900. Pike soon fell out of use and has survived almost exclusively in this idiom,” (snip)
So, pike in that phrase is an abbreviation for turnpike, a road.

When you disconnect and the world boss was at 5% health.
I prefer to disconnect the second before he dies. It feels more meaningful then.

Maybe a successful boss event can drop one token. Get X tokens and you can turn them in for one Carapace coat box. Worth a silver each for those who have all 3 boxes so they can vendor them.

That makes sense. “Why” it’s banned I suppose isn’t important, I was only curious. I just really want to use that name. I submitted a request like Inculpatus cedo suggested, so hopefully someone can get back to me on that.
Thanks for posting though guys.
Edit: Also, I think I’d get a different message saying the name was in use. I tried a couple other names that were taken and got different messages.
I might have found it. A Polish/Russian offensive slang word that is inside Thuja.
Since I don’t want an infraction, I’ll just say: take off the first and last letters and google the 3 remaining. It’s slang for part of the male anatomy.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Nope, I seen every skin there is and I don’t like a single chest piece for medium Sylvari. They all hang below the waist in some annoying manner.
I do like the Outfits I have though but it puts me in a situation where I will never buy a cool gem store Helmet or Hat because I won’t be able to use it. Wish it worked like GW1 and The Secret World’s Outfits.Edit: actually I forgot about the Glorious one, the pic was broken earlier. I been waiting for a male version pic to pop up a while back. I didn’t expect it to follow the female style as they never do with everything else, like Duelist for example~ Is it going to take an eternity to get it?
It’s on the Glorious armor track. I don’t do much PvP but I would assume you do one track and get to chose the piece you want.
I’m not questioning the part about lagging out, it happens to the best of us, I’m talking about jumping into a level 38 fractal when you’re level 27, (just in case this isn’t clear I’m not talking about their fractal level I’m talking about their character level).
Really AP? You are willing to say that you would join a fractal group, have a good enough connection to enter the fractal, go to an orb and pick it up and then have the connection time out? Key part here being doing that on a lvl 27. Now you’re just grasping at strings.
Where did you say it was about jumping into a level 38 fractal for the part I responded to? It was about going into a fractal and lagging out.

Well I have pretty good connection, usually 4G, but sometimes it will drop down to 3G and I will completely lag and can’t move. Personally I wouldn’t do higher level stuff when I know the connection is poor but sometimes, it happens. I can have days of good connection and then abruptly lag out.
Even people who don’t have stellar connections want to play the game. I know you people would prefer that people who don’t have the best, stay in our corner so you won’t be disadvantaged, but such is life.

Roll a fractal, put up lfg, fill up and have people ready to go. One of them whom I assume just hadn’t switched yet is a lvl 27 necro, said necro jumps into fractals, runs to an orb, grabs said orb and then just kinda stands there. This wasn’t a level 1 fractal, this was a 38. Tell me how else should I take that?
If I were that person, it meant my internet connection chose that time to lag out so I couldn’t move. But barring internet problems, you kick and get someone else.

Glorious Brigadine armor chest piece from the PvP track doesn’t have a coat. It’s cut off at the waist.
The Firstborn and Nightshade coats have a long piece in the back, but it’s leaves, so they’re not so tedious as the leather coats.
But other than that, it’s slim pickings.

If they don’t respond, maybe they have chat off, including whisper or don’t pay attention to chat while playing or speak a different language and don’t understand yours.
The people who do respond, it’s always possible they were messing up by accident, saw you get mad and decided to yank your chain by saying it was on purpose.
How does ANet tell the people who are ignorant/not good from the people deliberately trolling if they don’t say anything?
Yes you will need to have a char of that race to buy the cultural armor. You need to buy 90 unique pieces and to qualify, they need to be full sets of 6. So,15 full sets. (5 races times one set each from the 3 tiers).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fashion
“The cultural armor achievements require purchasing 1 piece of each armor type (headgear, shoulders, chest, gloves, leggings, boots) at each of the three tiers.”
“The Emperor’s New Wardrobe; this tracks the total number of pieces you have collected. Maximizing each title requires purchasing six cultural armor pieces for Tier 1, 2, and 3, which costs 128g98s or 644g90s for all five races, which will also complete the meta achievement.”
So, for each race. T’1, T’2, T3. A full set of armor from each of the 3 tiers. (You can buy different armor weights, such as 3 heavy and 3 light, from each tier as long as they make up 1 helm, shoulder, chestpiece, gloves, leggings, boots)
Edit: Good golly miss Molly, forum filter. Sees the abbreviation of tier 1, tier 2 as a dirty word and kittens it.
I wonder how many people complaining that they cost anything at all would even use them if they were free?
Idk. I’ve gotten free things from a store before and after that, every time they got something new to sell I would write letters and protest and demand to have one to one ratio of free to purchased items. They are so greedy! Not giving me more free stuff! I mean it’s not like they have bills to pay or want to make a profit, right? (They tried to tell me I could get them for free by using ingame tokens gained by playing inside the store. That’s not good enough!)
(Mild sarcasm here)
I found it, it was the mini dungeon to the southwest called the Forsaken Halls the entrance of which was located slightly northwest of the wymblood waypoint.

Isn’t the Human Noble manor in the home instance? Commoners have a friendly tavern.
Correct. Humans who chose Noble have the manor area as their “home”. Humans who chose Commoner have the tavern (I think the room in which Deputy Mira is, for some reason, standing on a bed). Humans who chose the peasant or whatever one have Rook’s Row.
It’s been so long I guess I forgot, or else my one human is street rat and doesn’t have a house. I looked in wiki and didn’t find/missed a reference to a house for humans. My mistake.

Gaile has said previously that support may not be able to answer the question about why one name is banned. The censor covers multiple languages with their slang terms, built up over a number of years and can be difficult to figure out what is the trigger.
One example of a banned name: Owlsdottir (it means Owl’s daughter)
It’s probably LSD. OwLSDottir. The censor “sees” those letters and it triggers a name ban.

im morally opposed to seeing a giant cat in a dress….
A Charr in a dress is the epitome of femininity.
I’m going to point out that the pink tutu is on a dude.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. If Gnasher Feelpretty wants a dress, Gnasher Feelpretty gets a dress.
The face looks female. It certainly lacks the typical male teeth. Many human females shave certain parts of their body. Maybe some female Charrs do too. ^^
Edit: the Tybalt mini has a female tail. I wonder if that means he is now a she. I know death is a transforming experience, but I never expected that.

What I’d do for a more elegant/realistic looking GS. Bonetti’s rapier is amazing, I want something along those lines but GS. Just have to take the Mithril one and touch up the hilt, maybe have a more elaborate texture on the blade, and golden.
Wouldn’t be a Legendary though. A weapon isn’t Legendary unless it is capable of producing mouth foaming irritation in some people.
Interestingly, the word “Racism” makes more sense to be used in-game than in real life. Why? Because all of humanity is one race. African, Aisian, European, doesn’t matter. it’s the same race; kitten sapiens.
Charr, Asura, Sylvari, Norn, Human, Hylek, etc.? Those are different races.
So “racisim” is more accurate when talking about discrimination in this case.
As for the original topic, I agree that merchants (at least a basic one) should probably be in each home instance.
EDIT: And the filter kicks in on a species name. I should have expected that, but I won’t be changing it.
The species name for Charr should be Kitten Sapiens. That would be awesome.
2. For some seriously cheap Norn skins (less than 1 silver), look for a character named Sven in Wayfarer Hills. He has an event you must complete, after which he will run a long distance and become a vendor for about two minutes.
This one here might be bugged. I haven’t seen this event since I was leveling chars over a year ago. Even when they had the daily events in wayfarer’s, I didn’t see it. I went and waited for about an hour. It never popped.
No point in reporting it though. The Ogre events for traits have been bugged and reported for months now with no result. :/
That one breaks fairly often. Sven will usually be inside the dredge cave near where the carrier normally would be.
Yah. I saw him in there and waited awhile. Then I wiki’d that the start was by the wp so I went out there and waited a while. No dice, so I guess it’s broken at the moment.
Oh well, it was a nice idea,
I played the game for 6 months before I realized I had a “house”.
Heck, I’ve been playing this game for a little over two years and only realized fairly recently that I have a home instance.
Does my character actually have a house within the home instance or is the whole instance considered his “house”?
As I understand it, it’s the part of the city you came from, your neighborhood. But your home instance lacks your home. As first glance, a strange oversight but it’s probably because the human chars can be anywhere from street rat to noble. It would be impossible to have one home that fits. If the other races had homes, then it would be awkward that humans do not.
So, “no home for you”.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
There is actually a non-zero, sometimes sizable amount of time to find a chest guys. You can even strike out if you’re using a shovel (which of course is extra work/cost).
It’s not worth going all alone, but if you say have a cloth node and a skillpoint (to convert quartz) and a watchwork mine in your home, just dump some keys on whomever clears that stuff every day and pick up an extra champ bag.
^
And then there’s being harassed by hyenas and mordrem while trying to find and dig up chests with a shovel and then unlocking it, versus simply running over to the chest in your home instance.
Sometimes you feel like going out there and running around looking for a chest and sometimes you don’t.
* Traditional Euro-American standards
There are human cultures in the world where females are hunters are males are caregivers, and others where both can fulfill either role. The whole “boys are superheroes and girls are princesses” religious stereotype is not universal in any way.
First, you can keep the word “religious” out since it has nothing to do with that stereotype. Perhaps that’s a translation issue?
And I disagree that the idea of a powerful male and a “princess-like” female is solely Euro-American.
But luckily in modern times we have enough powerful women and “pretty” men that we don’t have to worry about being chained to these stereotypes.
I think the point is that we should have choices in what each sex wears. Whether I want my female Charr to look fierce or pretty, I should have that choice.
The same goes for Human female armor – not to derail the thread but I would like the choice to look fierce rather than sexy there also.
I doubt anyone is against the choice of pretty or fierce for their female Charr. What people are objecting to is using human standards (female dresses) to achieve prettiness.
The problem seems to be that there are few choices to make the Charr (and Asura) pretty besides dyes. If they had female specific but lore appropriate armor/outfits that looked good on the females, then I don’t think so many people would be asking to have dresses.
Unfortunately this is not something that will ever be available and my guess is at some time Charrs and Asura will both be allowed to wear human dresses to achieve what humans consider “pretty”

I would be interested in reading about these cultures. Please give the names where the hunters are females and the males are caregivers.
afaik there have been no such cultures except in fairy tales and anime.
Yikes. Way to dismiss minorities…
There are certain tribes that still lead this kind of lifestyle, notably the Aka people.
K. Looked up the Aka. While it does say that the males are more involved with their children than is common, they are still not primary caregivers.
The women hunting is recent, within the last century, as net hunting became wide spread in response to economic pressure, so they are not still leading this lifestyle. It’s a recent change. The women were allowed/encouraged to also hunt because it became easier, not that they are the primary hunters of the tribes. Net and trap hunting, in traditional cultures is usually the way women hunt as it’s less risky. Eskimo women were known to use trap hunting. But they were still locked into traditional female roles.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aka_people
In other words, the women of that tribe, “got a second job” on top of their other duties in response to economic pressures and changes to hunting practices to something less dangerous.

To all the people focusing on breasts when it comes to female clothing, I have to ask: have you never seen a little girl in a dress before? Or in ANY clothing before? They can choose to wear feminine clothing without having breasts, so why can’t Asura or Charr?
(Speculating here) The human female desire to dress in such a way as to attract male attention is so widespread as to make me wonder if it’s not an instinct. Even in cultures that impose coverings, women often wear sexy clothing, painted nails, under it. Males try to attract female attention but it’s typically not through wearing clothing, it’s through behavior.
If it is an instinct, then even little girls will be attracted to typically feminine clothing.

Yeah, afaik there are no human cultures where the women are hunters and the males caregivers. It goes against basic human biology to think that traditional women in hunter/gatherer societies, who are either typically pregnant or breast feeding (which they do for around 5 years if they can) would be hunting.
If a woman of that culture dies, the chances of her children living to maturity goes down substantially. No mother of any common sense would risk that.
But I thought I would give him a chance to back up what he is saying.

Have you tried GW1? It sounds like it would be perfect for you. And I can personally recommend it as an excellent game.
i have been playing gw1 since 2007
Why not keep playing it. Arenanet is going to redesign their core system to cater to players that like another game that is currently NOT shutdown. (I know no new content).
because it is starting to become stale for me after all these years of no new content , i honestly still hope they remake the enire combat system to be more like gw1 but i doubt it
I would say there is zero chance that they will separate weapon skills from weapons. They would have to redesign a core part of the game and the only reason a company would do that if it caused serious problems or the game was failing and they needed to do something to bring people back.
You’ll have to take it as it is or have another game as your home game.
If only we could enable just when friends log in… all those messages flood my chat.
Now that would be useful. I had it on but got tired of useful messages inside all the messages about what I got as drops/salvaged.
Let’s go with Mirriam-Webster’s definition then, which is what the OP intends:
hy·poc·ri·sy noun \hi-?pä-kr?-s? also h?-\
: the behavior of people who do things that they tell other people not to do : behavior that does not agree with what someone claims to believe or feel
I don’t see how that even fits with the situation.
Some people don’t like the LS. They like the fact that we might have an expansion. How is that being a hypocrite?
Agreed. Still doesn’t fit.
They would have to be praising the new LS while actually hating it for the definition to fit. I really doubt people are doing that.
OP is still using the wrong word/doesn’t understand the definition of it.
I do NOT want my asura and charr females to dress up according to human standards of a specific culture.
They. Already. Are.
Masculine =/= neutral. Masculine = masculine. Your asura and charr females are dressing according to human standards specifically set on males.
What I mean is that human female armor is designed to accommodate (and sometimes focus on) prominent breasts and wide hips, dresses especially. Putting a large and skimpy froo-froo dress on an asura or a charr — species who do not share these human physical traits — would make no sense whatsoever. And I’m not even mentioning the difference in cultural standards for these races…
^
And that is exactly the point. Human female clothing is made to accentuate human female sexual secondary characteristics. Asura value large ears and broad foreheads as well as the sexy ability to design experiment. Charr probably think fluffy tails, the different teeth between males and females and a sleeker physical build is sexy, as well as the ability to fight.
If you want sexy clothing for your Asura, get something that flatters her ears and for perfume, spritz her with some used engine oil.
Assuming that feminine = T&A is grossly offensive to me.
A flower is pretty to me and yet it’s not showing off it’s boobs. Think about that for a second. I also play the harp and my music is decidedly soft, a little bit sad but overall feminine in sound. My music has no boobs.
Seriously! What’s wrong with you people! This is why women are still paid less for the same jobs!
Are you saying flowers are feminine because they are pretty? Actually flowers are the sexual organs of the plant and are both male and female (pistols and stamens you know).
Harp is feminine? Because it’s soft? I’m afraid that is completely subjective and human based. Would a sentient non human species, if females were warlike and males the caregivers, think harps or soft sound as female?
Ugly women can’t be feminine? Women who are brash and loud can’t be feminine? Not according to your definition of feminine on your post.
Equating pretty and soft music with feminine is just as offensive (since it restricts and limits females to those categories) as saying T&A is feminine.
Female Asura and Charr are feminine but not by human standards and certainly without being pretty or soft.

One does not simply make Lord of the Rings references.
You are completely ridiculous and have a very, very poor understanding of the Lore.
You know you’re in the Twilight Zone when Eowin of Rohan appears to correct your GW2 lore.

Thanks for the info. I especially loved the phrase “you do not” as opposed to you cannot. Saying you do not makes it sound taboo or makes me feel dirty for thinking of it. It would have been even better to say “One does not simply mail themselves.”
‘One does not simply mail themselves’ sounds too much like a lame Lord of the Rings reference. Stick with, ‘you can’t’
