It’s going to be odd for the Revenants, which is new expansion content, so to be leveling outside their expansion. That’s not something that’s normally done in games.
It also sounds very off putting. People buy the new expansion to play there on their new character, not to appear in the old content, having to get to level 80 before they can access it. And yes I know some can pop level scrolls and get to 80 in seconds, that’s not the point. Others are going to have to go through the whole leveling process by playing. If they have to wait till however long that takes them then they are not going to be happy.
A few possibilities.
One, there is one leveling map your char appears in. If it has 3 biomes, the bottom can be low level, the middle, middle level and the top, higher level. When you get to 80, you can leave. If they give extra exp, it can be quick. It will still be a problem as the Revenants will be leveling while others are playing the game and doing the story line, which will mean that many will put off leveling the Revenant till later, after they have played a while.
Second, you take a level 80 to there and and he speaks to Rytlock and becomes a Revenant. (Less likely as it may require a guard/warrior because of armor issues and because it means losing your previous profession).
3rd possibility: you get a new char. You chose the Revenant profession and you are level 80 at start. (Obvious learn to play problems here).
Of the 3, my guess is on a dedicated tutorial map with a fast push to level 80 mechanics.
Don’t forget that Revenants will appear in the old starting zones like everyone else, they won’t appear in the expansion area. Norn Revenants will begin with the Norn Tutorial as normal and then be in Wayfarer Foothills. Human Revenants will start in Queensdale etc, I don’t see any reason for them to create tutorial maps specific for Revenants.
Also, they said they are adding Mastery points all over the game, not just the expansion areas, which means there is loads to do in the old zones too.
Citation please where it said that the Revenants will appear in the old starting content.

1) the game has Megaservers now. All the PvE servers are together on the maps. Which server you are on only matters for WvW.
2) “Guild membership is not limited to a single world — a guild can have members from any server, whether in the US or EU.” http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild
The important distinctions are though, you can’t play with people on a different data center (EU/NA) and you can’t WvW with people from other than your server.
3) free transfers: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World#Transferring
“Accounts without active characters
The transfer fee is waived for accounts without any active characters. This allows players just starting out to change to another world that is not full. You also can transfer without cost if you delete all your existing characters. The next time you log on without any characters, you will be prompted to choose a new home world.
Please be aware of the following:
A) Transfers to any game world — whether free or paid for with gems — are allowed only if the population of the world is at less than capacity.
B) Transfers to any game world — whether free or paid for with gems — are allowed only once per seven days.
C) If you decide to delete the characters on your account, Customer Support cannot restore them, in whole or in part.
D) Items left on the characters will be deleted and cannot be restored. Move items to your personal account bank to preserve them."
I’ve done it 8 times and I’m not a WvW person.
Start early in exploration as it can take weeks to do. If you’re willing to run with a zerg, that helps a lot. Use a live map and check it periodically when you can while playing. If you see something you need, run in and get it. Expect to die occasionally and have to run back. If you see something important available, run all your alts to it. For most servers, all you need is persistence.
Hmmm. Well, you can try but without a character or display name, I’m not sure it’s findable.
Submit a ticket. Be sure to get the display name (the Name.xxxx) like what shows on the forum and tell them the guild/pet name.

I like the 4 legged run. I just with they weren’t all wearing skirts. It worries me. I keep expecting them to get tangled up in all that cloth hanging down in front of their legs and take an inglorious nose dive when running up to do battle.

That makes sense for the OP, but I have seen this type of comment from other players that do not appear to be recalling some time when the game was almost overpopulated.
I have no idea. From reading the forums of games like WoW, the leveling maps are a wasteland of No One Here But Me after the game has moved on. I’m not sure why people would expect this game to be any different. The only other thing I can think of is they see lots of people in the starter map then get to mid range. The population is probably spread out over several midrange maps and now it feels empty.
The thing is, this sort of thing spreads once it gets started and doesn’t get a hard check by the game. How much more time will it be till the LFG is filled with mid level value items, then low level?
LTS one stack iron ore
LTS 10 ectos
:/
Imo, ANet should take a much stronger stand on this and announce that it is an offense punishable with suspension. It’s getting worse and they are going to have to do something sooner or later. It might as well be sooner.
Or heck, if they don’t want to take a firm stand, just make a LTS tab and let it all hang out. Post, sell and buy at your own risk.

Check for your Logan mini. Maybe they ran off together and eloped.
Or check your hero panel in the miniature section. She might be there.
I was anxious about that episode as I had read how hard it was. I watched a video to see the mechanics. Made special dodge food. Then two guildies wanted to do it so I joined up with them. I handed out my dodge food, warned them it was really hard, and we went in. I walked out of a couple of circles, dodged maybe twice, lit the fires with no troubles as the dragon was targeting someone else. One person was downed once and the whole thing was over in a few minutes.
There is a huge difference in difficulty between solo and group. It either doesn’t scale down to solo or up to group, whichever.
I have no idea where these players are when they ask “where is everyone?”. Even in the farthest reaches far off zones, I run into other players every minute or so now….
Megaserver may have some downsides, but it certainly keeps the zones populated as far as I can tell….
OP said he played for 2 months at game start then quit. Back then the maps were packed because the whole population of the game was first time leveling or leveling alts. Now that most people have done that, they aren’t in those maps.
If someone was playing then and came back now, they only remember the crowded maps and the current maps would seem empty. This is probably why OP, on the alt he is leveling, looks around and wonders where everyone is.
The reason they might not say yes might be lawyers. If they say yes and then someone (or lots of someones) get banned then there could be lawsuits. If their legal department says don’t give approvals then that’s what they are going to do.
Yeah, I figured you wouldn’t take my suggestion too well and I really hesitated to say it. But I thought I would point it out anyway. /shrug
Good luck with it though. I hope others can make suggestions you find more palatable.
I hate to say it because you might be the type of person who doesn’t want to group up, but grouping makes a big difference. Two makes it easy. Three makes it a breeze.
That’s so unnecessarily stupid. What’s the point in giving the book when it could be unlocked automatically? Oh well…
Welcome to Click Wars 2. I hope you enjoy your click time playtime. (Be sure to put money aside for a new mouse in a few months).

I found weapons and armour you once used are no longer salvageable.
I’ve salvaged exotic weapons and armor after use. You might be trying to salvage exotics bought with karma or WvW badges. Neither of those are ever salvageable.
A lot of the older green master picks had no level associated with them, but they were tied to the level of the character at the time they were acquired.
Which means, you quite often ended up with ruined ore chunks. There was no way to tell the level of the item, if I recall. It was too big of a risk to use for mining ori that I just deleted all mine ages ago and purchased new ones.
I saw a thread about that, but it was from 2 years ago. If OP has one of those still sitting in the bank from back then, he needs to do some spring cleaning, lol.
Yeah. I tried researching it and was unable to find a masterwork pick with 100 uses. I found fine picks sold by various NPCs and that one 125 use masterwork.
One problem is that NPCs are made then removed from the game. Once removed, the information about them is archived and unless you remember the event or the character name it’s really difficult to track them down and what they sold.
There is precedent for this idea you know.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Karma
“Karma was made account bound with the addition of wallet in the Queen’s Jubilee release; prior to that, it was character bound.”
Royal Terrace now. So convenient. It was open map then locate and click on waypoint then run to where I needed to go. Now it’s open inventory, click on item and I’m there. Right next to a bank, merchant, crafting, trading post, mystic forge, guild bank, guild NPCs and a portal that leads to every other city.
So, I can just create a new character and unlock every skill almost instantly? Yeah, sure. That sounds fair.
I wouldn’t mind this for level 80s with all skills and traits (since they can be unlocked via skill points since the change) unlocked; but even then – Heart of Thorns would throw a spanner into this.
To me, skill points aren’t a currency, they’re a form of each individual character’s progression. If they choose to convert some of that into an item and craft something with it, then so be it.
I have over 1000 skill point scrolls. Whether they are in the bank for a new char to pull out and use or are in the wallet is a matter of inventory space, not a true objection to this idea.
As soon as I make the new profession, I’m going to feed it all the skillpoints it needs.
Hmmmmm. The prices in the gemstore. I’ve felt dejected, rejected, respected, affected, effected, impressed and depressed.
But never insulted.
Usually there are people everywhere I go. The games makes and collapses the PvE maps as needed so it’s possible you were on a low population shard when you were playing and the other people were on another shard. Sometimes going to character select then back again will move you off a one shard to another.
As to the hang out points, I see a lot of people around the bank areas in the major cities.
Here is what Curtis Johnson had to say about why they choose to switch over to outfits and discontinue making town clothes.
Source (page 18).
“We do understand and sincerely apologize that there are creative combinations of town clothes that will not exist anymore. Many have asked why remove town clothes as a concept. It boils down to we believe better armor skinning and the outfit system is something we can add more options to more often and will produce a better supported RP game for everyone with more variety in the future. In short, a healthier game.
To expand more on what I mean by better support, It helps if you think of town clothes as a 4th weight class of armor. Clothing was meant to offer visual options that break the class roles, however we were never completely happy with the way it was isolated from the rest of the game and still felt largely the same. Many pieces could have easily been mistaken for light or medium armor. In many ways it was more akin to building an alt character because town-clothes and armor were so separated. Additionally, every time we added something to town-clothes, it didn’t really help someone building their light, medium, or heavy look. And there was no way to add combat gear fairly without creating 3 versions on the back end (light, medium, and heavy). As a customization platform and sustainable expansion design it left a lot to be desired.
When we started looking at bringing more of the clothing back into armor with mix and match styles there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how we set up every armor to allow many dye channels and styles per piece).. There really is no way at this point over six years since we started development to make absolutely everything work together. So we needed something new to continue to grow in the future.
Outfits give us a way to create highly stylized looks that aren’t constrained to armor slots or weight class. In addition to armor skins that are easier and cheaper to collect across characters and the account dye system we do believe the options across a players whole account are much more attractive now. You’ll see more outfits coming out this summer and additions to the game more often usable by your characters. We try not to allow too much ‘hoarder’ design where we just keep stacking more and more options on leaving lots of unsupported things hanging around. Yes, we do have to give up some of our current closet space and clothing to fit the new wardrobe in. Again, apologies for that.
As always we ask you to try out the new system of customization and see what’s available to you. I think many people will be surprised by how many pieces have become armor compatible. We hope the benefits to the outfit system and wardrobe in terms of future support and additions will be clear, and you can look forward to more new outfits coming very soon."
Considering the mini Tybalt is still running around with a female tail, I wouldn’t get your hopes up for a fix this century if I were you.
I’ve read that 1 at a time is preferred because if you have a bad run of RNG on the 10 at a time, it can feel brutal while it’s eating up your ectos.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
You got a set of skins that have one use. If the ‘store in wardrobe’ option is grayed out, then that means the skin is already in your wardrobe. To double check, you can check on your hero panel if you have the appropriate char with that armor class or you can check the wardrobe tab in your bank.
The skins are for a one time use without a Transmutation charge. If you destroy them then that means you will have to use a T charge for the first use as well as any other uses.

I was thinking Sylvari, but now I’m thinking of Asura.
Make the tiniest one I can and name her, Smallmedium Atlarge,
You have 5 character slots and it does cost to switch between disciplines, the higher they are the more expensive, so you might want to put no more than 2 on any of your chars. I put Huntsman and Leatherworker on my ranger and put Weaponsmith on another char.
astral you must be a person that has harvested a lot of those and has them for sale for the high price they are now…. so what your saying is… lets keep things ungodly high on price… so you can make your profits.
Lol. Nope. I rarely harvest those nodes. I was just pointing out that there may be consequences to giving large numbers of people easy access to T6 nodes that’s not related to “ANet’s greed”. They do have an economist on board and maybe he sees an effect that’s bad for the economy.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
no offense steven, but you are precisely the problem here…
they have gone from selling 3 nodes in a bundle for 800 gems to a single RNG BL chest gamble that forces you to spend money on keys…. Anet has become so kitten greedy it isn’t funny….
The other nodes were low level nodes, T1 iirc. I wonder if it would effect the trading post prices if a lot of people had a ori node, ancient wood node and a snow truffle node in their instance that they could harvest every day and have their friends/guildies/random strangers they invite in map chat also harvest?
The person in their right mind who would pay so much for these nodes is me!!!
I guess if you have nothing else to spend the gold on……..
Well, you know. If he doesn’t have anything else that he wants to buy and buying this makes him happy. Then why not?

Sylvari, so I can use the heavy cultural armor.
I came looking for this to weigh in with pretty much the same opinion as the OP, but knowing that there are nodes on the TP, are these drops not bound at all? That isn’t as bad as I was originally thinking, but if they are bound….
then kitten, kitteny, kittenstuff.
They can’t be on the trading post if they are bound. If you double click on one and consume it, a node will appears in your home instance and the item will disappear. But you can sell it until then.
My guild will be running route two, tomorrow night (1/28) on foot and in our skivvies. Feel free to join us in Hoelbrak at 9pm EST / -5 GMT / NA, if you want to tag along.
It’s in the original post.
Ok. I had forgotten you were the OP and thought you were just posting to say that you were doing a run.
thank you for this! I know I’ll be using it when I (finally) get around to doing that achievement.

You were asking for it to be sold in the gem store. I’m not dead sure what difference it really makes between the 2, gem store or trading post, as long as the price either way isn’t outrageous.
Part of me still wanted me to be able to get it myself, instead of relying on the luck/costs of others. That’s the difference between the two.
That being said, it did save me some just buying it off the Trading Post like you said (though not by much, what with the gem to gold conversion ratio nowadays).
And, it’s a tad inconsistent to have 2 of the Biconics buyable from the get go and hiding the two others behind RNG/buying off the Trade Post from those who did get lucky. I suspect Taimi and Canach will get the RNG treatment too if they get minis. :/
Yeah, well. Most of their minis are RNG or gemstore. Only a few are in game in some manner. That’s how they want to sell them so might as well expect that in the future.
I remember someone on the forum posting a comment that they still had harvesting tools sold by an NPC during one of the events. It was an NPC who was removed after the end of the event who sold the tools for event tokens. Possibly you bought one of those and forgot about it?
And there is also this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Master_Mining_Pick
Level 60: Equivalent to an Orichalcum Mining Pick (used to mine all metals.)
But it has 125 uses, so unless you used 25 and then put it back /shrug

Sigh. Fair enough. I still get a little annoyed when “buy it off the Trading Post” is the most effective/only good way to go about getting it.
Kinda like Giant Eyes, precursors, and other things I cannot think of but am sure also have this issue.

That mini is about 24gold at the moment.
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/68571-mini-kasmeer-meade
That’s cheaper than converting gold to buy a gem store mini.
Nice. I’m missing 2 and haven’t a clue which they are or where they are. I’ll have to study that map.

If they are going to change it up so that different builds work better in different places, I hope they come with a way to let you merge different armor types together so you can switch out the stats for the merged piece.
I was under the assumption the Revenant was an optional progression for a Warrior like Druid is for Ranger and the as yet unrevealed new “classes” that will expand from the existing classes , maybe an ele becomes a battle mage and a thief becomes a well just burn it with fire
. That way 1 would hope you had already defeated Zhaitan and would not break continuity
They’ve explicitly stated that Revenant is a new profession and not a specialization.
Though Colin also recently stated that Rytlock teaches folks to become Revenants.
Maybe the situation will be that any pre-existing character can become a Revenant within HoT’s storyline, rather than making a new character for it?
idk
That’s an interesting idea. It would eliminate the need for a new leveling zone or to have people level on the old maps before they can play in the new maps. It also ends the debate about whether or not your new char would have a place in the Zhaitan personal story. It would also take care of the questions about new character slots and the problem with people who already have the max of 64 character slots and would need to either delete or have the slots expanded.
If they do this, it might have to be a heavy armor char (because of armor conflicts) and they might have an option for someone to to go back to the old profession by speaking to Rytlock again.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I don’t think there’s too many references in the open world to Zhaitan being dead. In fact I don’t think there’s any in the base game. In fact I’ve discovered the opposite. Having killed Zhaitan and the world still reacting if he was alive.
Among some references, there is a big one in the Durmand library , the Zhaitan’s tail is hanging in the ceiling … need a better hint?
Maybe he shed his tail like the giant lizard he is and scurried off afterwards. ^^
If I killed a dragon, I would cut off and mount the head, not the tail. Lol.
I have a bunch too, about 1000 scrolls. What I’m planing to do is, when the new profession comes out, my new char will use these to buy needed skills. It’s also likely that the traits will need skill points to buy, so I’m reserving them for those also.
