In GW1 every death had an impact and you couldn’t just waypoint back so it’s not a very good comparison. There is already a mechanic to prevent people just ignoring death. That’s called dying. When you die you no longer can use any skills or deal any damage. If everyone nearby dies the enemy will reset.
Again, if you have to repair your armor enough that it annoys you, then you need to learn how to play the game without dying so much. Feel free to ask for help on the forums.
If you’re complaining about dying too much in WvW. Stop playing WvW. Dying happens in WvW. And it can sometimes happen often if you’re doing things that really help your team.
So in your opinion a player who tries to solo dungeons, fractals or champions should ask help from people who kill moas and other highly dangerous targets?
I kill moas, easily. The rabbits however are too much for me.
Yep. Carapace. In this case, medium.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Carapace_armor
surely u can spare literally 50 SECONDS once every few weeks to log in and then immediatley log out
Or program your computer to log into the game and then shutdown every two weeks.
Don’t do this. It could get your account suspended.
I don’t agree with the way they released LS2, especially with an expansion on the way, but using macros or third party programs to play the game for you (even something very simple) is clearly against the TOS.
Logging in with a macro to unlock the LS is not playing the game and does not give you an advantage over other players, which is specifically what the TOS says: anything that gives the player an advantage over the game or another player is against TOS. A.net wouldn’t tell people all they need to do is log in during the live release of each episode to unlock the story for free if they thought people would automate it.
While I don’t want to start a debate of something entirely different, there is a point where one would use those same line of commands for more nefarious activities. You’re going half way. The TOS specifically states NO third party programs. Zero. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to be “responsible” with said program, it’s still bad juju.
Actually what it says is: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
“Use, or provide others with, any software related to the Game, including any automation software (a.k.a. “bot”) or software designed to change or modify operation of the Game;”
In other words, it can’t change or modify operations of the game. A program that only logs you in then out should be ok. As another example, ANet has ok’d the use of macros to play the musical instruments sold in the gem store.
They also took them out as some toys allowed people to travel faster than they otherwise would be able to and iirc, the tunneling tools allowed users to drop their nameplates down so they could hide behind rocks or other map feature.
Here is a video I recommend to new players: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUKWeaXZeOY
Also, you might want to buy a scepter. It’s a ranged weapon and lets you keep a distance and control mobs. Once you get higher level, get a focus to go with it as it has a barrier that’s useful when you are low in health.
That last picture is better. The yellow pulls out the details and the gloves and Greatsword really emphasize what you are trying to do. Congratz.

“You shouldn’t be able to place buy orders below vendor price, that is the bug. We’re aware of it and will have a fix soon.”And they did. Those orders still there are old ones from before they stopped people from placing buy orders below vendor price.
Okay…so if that’s fixed then the problem is that Anet is leaving 2+ year old buy orders on the market. I’m pretty sure this has been suggested before but couldn’t they just remove them?
It wouldn’t be too crazy for orders to have an expiration date either.
As to removing them, I gather it’s too much trouble and they aren’t hurting anything.
John Smith: Source
Prioritizing a bug fix that doesn’t actually affect the TP usage at all over any fix in the game that does affect players would be irresponsible. What a ridiculous post. You insult the OP and everyone who dislikes and is actually impacted by this bug, and then you give an assinine definition of priority. Were you trolling?
Yeah, they should remove them. And Wanze, they are buy orders. There is no stock involved here, just meaningless buy orders that pump up gw2spidy, etc.
/shrug
I was quoting John Smith and what he said on the subject (see the linked thread). If you don’t like the answer, take it up with him.
All my chars were grandfathered in but I bought an alt account with this last sale. I wiki’d traits and looked over the requirements. Then I said to my self; Self, I guess this will be your traitless account, and I closed wiki.

I expect the cross-section of each map to be small, about the size of the Silverwastes/Dry Top. But as seen on the trailers they are immensely 3D. The use of Z-axis makes me sorry for people who get vertigo in games.

I’m so kittened…
Its okay mate.. The rest of us will be heaving with you even as we stare in wonder as the world spuns out from under us.

So this new video is out, and noticed this? It was mentioned that leveling that mastery would increase control, and speed, but maybe the looks also?
PAX/today
To me that looks more like seeing it from a different angle. The second is from behind and you can see the separate layers, which aren’t showing from a front/side shot. You can see the layer seams but not how they are lifted up and spaced.
You’ve explained why the players would want this. Now explain how ANet benefits from creating thousands (hundreds of thousands? millions?) of gems out of thin air and handing them out to players, where they don’t get any money from it.
How would that effect the gem exchange? How would free gems at such a volume effect their income?
A crack dealer gives his customer a free hit, knowing that they will be back for more.
or
Giving the players something, knowing that a happy player base is more likely to invest in the game.as far as the gem exchange, I don’t know how that would react, I would think it would make gems less expensive to buy with gold, but still the same cost to buy with real money.
They give 400 gems every 5000 achieve points. If ANet thought giving away more was good business then they would have made this gift more frequent. That it’s only every 5000 achieves shows that they don’t feel it’s good business to hand out free gems more often than that.
Some interesting thoughts in this thread, so let me add another tangent of thought.
Setting aside the idea of transfering servers for a moment.
I believe if for every 7500 influence you create for a guild, you receive credit of 100 gems, would encourage people partying up in thier respective guilds, because of the bonus of influence gained when in a party, 10 vs 2.
This would give poorer players an option for aquiring gems, while building guild unity.

Definite level 20 scroll first. Then I think I’ll play for a while, maybe to level 50 or so. At that point I think I’ll use the rest of my tomes to get to 80.
I’ll probably play my ranger in the new area first and learn the Druid part. The Revenant can get to the new maps after that.
I’m personally hoping it covers the same general area as the old Guild Wars 1 map.
http://i.imgur.com/hblHbGt.jpg
This is a map with Guild Wars 1 on top of Guild Wars 2. The top left area is the area we should be going into.
I think this is a more clear, complete and accurate version of that: https://ae6490f6243d357fa5f9be62dfa9e52777575bde-www.googledrive.com/host/0B9mf4AAIMRl1RzRpQkhTcFFXcms
Regardless, I share your hope that we will go to maguuma jungle / maguuma waste / tarnished coast areas that were accesible in Guild Wars 1.
That new map is very interesting and makes me think we won’t be going in the old maps so much as heading into the green area southwest since that part is jungle and the old, still unused areas look more desert.

So my question is, why is there a fee, and such a crazy high one too?
WvW aside, for everyone else it’s just about playing with friends, and isn’t that kind of the whole point of the game?
If it’s WvW aside, then they don’t need to transfer because the game has Megaservers. The only reason to transfer is WvW or to switch between NA or EU.
As to price, maybe the price is high to discourage switching to another WvW server. The switch used to be both free and daily, it became more restrictive as time passed, possibly because whole guilds were server jumping on a frequent basis to get into the “best” server rather than sticking around and working with the one they were on.
Guilds would transfer to one server, get it high in the ranks then leave. Causing it to fall to the bottom of the ranks and hurting morale in that server. The Henge of Denravi is a case of that. People transferred for free to a then top server. This caused problems (excessive queue times for one). The original WvW guilds left, then the “opportunist” guilds left, causing a free fall towards the bottom.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I don’t think you’ve shown a compelling reason for ANet to pay for a server transfer for anyone, highly contributing guild member or not. If the guild values that member so much, sure they can help him out. Why should ANet get involved? They have no way to see how much a guild values one of its members.
One person could be playing and earning lots of influence but not interacting with the guildies. Another person could play less and earn far less influence but interactive and thinking of things to do and contributing to guild chat. Yet by influence, the first person can transfer and the second not.

Or merge the chests and inside the chest is all the possible choices, either weapons or armor. Select the piece and stats you want.
Imo, based on this picture: http://gw2style.com/look.php?id=3119
Too much red. It flattens the character, there’s no relief, no visual high and low points.
If you look at a real flame it’s orange, yellow, red, and even some blue with the majority of it orange with yellow mixed in. You could try to work more of these colors in. The blue, which is the hottest part of a flame, would be hardest but maybe if you put a light blue in the hair glow.
My new alt account, leveling a new char
1) Unexpectedly get a trait: nice
2) Find out I can’t review at it after dismissing the pop up in the middle of a fight: not nice
3) Unable to look at my traits on my char to plan ahead: not nice
4) Pulling up wiki and reading the requirements and knowing I would have to do them on each and every char on that account: closes wiki and decides to go traitless on that account.
Yah, the part about where challenges await you does seem to be bugged or not well designed. It frequently points to a nearby undone area, no matter how inappropriate it is instead of the a zone which is within my character level.
My guess is it’s because it’s pointing through the Asuran gates so if my low level char is in LA, instead of pointing out Wayfarer’s, for example, it points out Lornar’s pass (presumably because that map is between it and Wayfarer’s).

Assuming you were hacked, you can get a one time account rollback and recover your stuff. First run a security sweep of your computer if you haven’t already, then change the password on the game and it’s a good idea to change password on your computer’s email in case they got into that.

Without the cost to repair it does seem a little pointless now to have it. It also decreased the reason behind having canisters by that much. I used to not repair damaged armor until all were damaged then use a canister to get a free repair. Now I just get repaired without really thinking about the matter. It’s a fairy trivial change but it does make dying much less of an impact.
I’m personally hoping it covers the same general area as the old Guild Wars 1 map.

If you were getting 2 a week, you were getting waaayyyyy more than the average. One exotic every month or 2 or 3 is closer to what most people get.
Welcome to our world.
At this time, no. There is no way to promote another person and afaik they have never said they will ever do this.
Basically y’all have 3 choices. See if your your guild leader can somehow log in to the game to transfer leadership (from what you said, unlikely). Stay with the guild and continue to give it influence that may never be used. The new leader starts up a new guild and everyone joins and starts repping it with the old guild kept for the storage slots.
Imo, your best bet is for the leader to start the new guild and the guild build it up rather than sticking with a guild with worthless influence. Since the old guild probably already has the full storage y’all can put the influence in a new guild towards the other guild upgrades and only do guild bank when the rest is unlocked.

I don’t ever recall seeing that helm, but since he thought he saw it in the wardrobe, you can check yourself. Just pull up the heavy helms and click preview on each slot. You don’t have to actually have it to preview it.

After multiple “next page” forum bugs over many months, I decided to research this for ANet in hopes of finding a fix. After searching the internet I came across the reason why the forum bugs on the next page in some dialog I found.
Dingo.9063 Where are you going?
Sir Galahad.5834 I seek the Gaile! I have seen her, here in this thread!
Dingo.9063 Oh, no! Oh, no! Bad, bad Forum!
Sir Galahad.5834 What is it?
Dingo.9063 Oh, wicked, bad, naughty Forum! It has bugged the next page, which, I’ve just remembered, is Gaile shaped. It’s not the first time we’ve had this problem.
Sir Galahad.5834 It’s not the real Gaile?
Dingo.9063 Oh, wicked, bad, naughty, evil Forum! Oh, it is a bad site, and it must pay the penalty! You must spank it well, and after you are done with it you may deal with it as you like… and then… spank the Forum Coder.
All the Devs: And me! And me too! And me!
Dingo.9063 Yes. Yes, you must give them all a good spanking. And after the spanking, the next post.
Sir Galahad.5834 Well, I could stay a bit longer…
I hope this helps.
Is there some reason we cannot get heavy leggings like on the Lionguard NPC below?
That entire set can be made using Karma vendor gear
So that is one, any other options besides that one? something for low and mid levels characters?
Aetherblade armor from the gem-store is what i mostly use.
That armor makes my female Norn warrior’s hips look big.
She’s just fat.
Not fat!
More to love.
Edit: I previewed the Zodiac armor on her. Now that made her look obese.

Here we are now, entertain us!
I still think the gem store dueling flag would cover most objections. 1000 gems, infinite number of uses.
It’s a gem store item that you have to buy and double click to turn on and off. Clicking it on makes you obviously flagged and makes available a duel invite option. If someone doesn’t have this item they can’t duel so harassing someone who is a non dueler is pointless.
If it’s inappropriate enough to report, it’s not appropriate to post on the forum. You should remove the picture. Naming and shaming is against forum rules.

I was pointing out that thread because it was the same OP and he has the guild listed in his signature.
The thread I saw was about a guild that was open to all who wanted to join just for guild missions because they couldn’t do them on their guild. It had nothing to do with new players.

I have been attempting to get password resets for the past three weeks but I guess with the roll-out of Heart of Thorns making simple requests is a back burner issue ..
Is anyone else getting set aside receiving auto-mail that essentially a dead-end .. requests for help unanswered? ..
Allow me to set up my dilemma .. I have 5 accounts on Guild Wars and one GuildWars2 account .. over all I have 100 characters, I have rolled and re-rolled at least 100 more attempting to achieve the look of a playable character .. after suffering a stroke, I find it amazing that I can recall all but one account, but I never receive the mail with the link to reset my password just this auto-mail of pfft ..
You would think that you could get customer service .. yeah, I know many other business’s that would be actually taking care of their customers, but lately Guild Wars / Guild Wars 2 is more interested in “hype” than help.
3 weeks? Have you checked your spam and junk folders in case it’s in there? Your password also may be retrievable from your computer browser options.

Secondly, it’s an insulation against scamming – if you want to be sure you’re not getting scammed? To the Trading Post instead of the nice charr you just met today who said he’ll give you 5g for that Superior Rune, but you need to send him the rune first since his mail system is bugged.
Also, no Spamadan. That, alone, is worth the tax.
. . . you’re not listening to some of the people anyway, given what followed this statement. The reasons to not have person-to-person trading have been cited, and experienced, by many of us GW1 veterans.
How could scamming be a problem in player-to-player trading when anyone could simply do a quick check on the average price at the TP?
Moreover, GW trading took place in a special trade-only chat tab, which you could – like any other chat tab – turn on/off very easily.
So the argument on wtb/wts spamming map chat is moot, as one could simply turn it off.I see no real downsides to p2p trading unless you’re being extremely careless and don’t even read or don’t even check the amount of money specified in the trade window……..
I also never got scammed, or had any real issues with trading as such, so yea.
Please . . . are you listening? Or are you not paying attention?
First, there were at least four known scams I ran into. All of them relied on inattentiveness and carelessness, or just plain lack of knowledge. And they still got plenty of people.
- Mursaat Token mistaken for Ecto
- Faked Althea’s Ashes (or the wrong item)
- Selling customized weapons.
- Selling Dedicated minis as Undedicated.
Second, there are at least two others I know of but did not run into- “My trade is bugged, drop it on the ground so I can pick it up”
- Trading for items quickly swapped out, such as a gold R13 for the presumed gold R10 you were paying for.Just because you never encountered them, or think that someone would need to have the brains of a turnip, doesn’t mean they weren’t happening nor does it mean people were completely avoiding getting scammed. It happened. ANet support knows it happened. Fan forums knew it happened.
Or the “not fancy but sometimes worked” scam where the buyer puts a lower amount of plat than agreed on and hope the other person misses it (hopes the other person hits accept too fast or doesn’t see the 10,000 instead of the 100,000 plat).
One guy tried that with me.
Bad forum, bad! Quit making messes in the forum that have to be cleaned up. (Hits forum with a rolled up moderator quote).
Turn everyone into Trahearne.
that would be awesome
Everyone turns into a member of Destiny’s Edge according to their race.
I’ve never seen a definitive answer but anecdotally I can say that I started off with mystic kits and when I switched to BLSK, I saw a definite uptick in the number of dark matter I got.
As Vayne said, this is a topic that has come up frequently. ANet surely knows some people want it and that many others don’t want it in the PvE area. Their answer seems to be the Custom Arenas, where you can duel there if you want.
Well, where oh where can my pointer be
Anet took it away from me
It’s gone to God knows where
So I got to be good

“That’s not entirely true.
Each of the armor weights in the game is constructed differently, which is probably one of the reasons we haven’t seen mixing and matching between different weights. It’s also likely the reason we see so many trenchcoats on medium armor—it’s specifically designed to support coats that go over pants. Light armor divides at the waist, and town clothes followed the same rules. If you read this blog post, you can pick up some hints as to how things were coded and why going back to change things would be more difficult than just find-and-replace:”

It’s more likely to be tomes wouldn’t ’it? Writs, you need to use up to 20 to level.
You would be surprised how much some people save up.
I was more thinking of the time it would take to click on enough writs to level as opposed to clicking on one tome and whether or not they could do that before getting stomped.
Writs, you only get a few a day. If they PvP they could have a bunch of tomes saved up.
Because they can’t. The different armor classes are incompatible and can not be set up to be mixed and matched.
