The previous game, Guild Wars 1, had no gear progression at all and only 20 levels. People played it for years.

Gear progression games are usually games where you grind dungeons to get higher gear. When an expansion comes out, that gear is now second rate and you level some more and start the grind again. This game isn’t a gear progression grind game, by design, and you shouldn’t expect it.

Astral Projections.7320

How often and how many people want to sell to old, outdated TP buy orders? Orders that if they are over a month old are probably from people who either are no longer playing or have forgotten about the buy order or no longer need the item.

My guess is, very few. Why should ANet completely revamp the trading post in order to do this for the handful of people who would want it? This would be a waste of payroll, time, and effort for the value it gives to the game.

Edit: if it was very common for people to sell to those underpriced, wouldn’t that encourage people to price low deliberately in order to get money from those who are trying to help out others?

So essentially, if it’s something that not a common wish, why should ANet revamp the TP for a few? If it was common, then it would be something that people would use to their advantage to take money from the sympathetic who want to help out others.

You get one free use of armor that’s sitting in your inventory. Once it’s transferred to the wardrobe it’s one transmutation charge per use. If you don’t plan to use it anytime soon and you don’t want to tie up bank or character inventory space you can transfer it to the wardrobe. If you want to keep it and have an unused character, you can store the skins in its inventory.

Basically it’s a choice between tying up inventory space or having the one time free use of it. Whichever is more important to you.

Either the Aegis of Unity costume or a costume in that style. It had a lovely pattern on the cloth and at the same time was modest, no open breast panels or strange open holes on the side.

Has it been a while since you logged in or you’ve been playing and just noticed today they were gone?

If it’s been a while since you logged in, you need to go to a Black Lion Armor trader by a city Trading Post to get an updated version. (The new version is not mix and match. It’s a full set costume wearable as one piece, except the helm can be toggled on/off).

If you’ve been playing all this time and they suddenly recently disappeared you will need to contact support.

Race change

Astral Projections.7320

What if the race change required you to finish the PS first?

Still the same problem I would think. You would be (for example) a Charr with a human personal story line in your panel, telling how (for example again) you were born in a human noble family and how lost your human sister.

Imo any race change would need the ability to go into your hero panel and either completely redo the story line or remove it. Either way it wouldn’t be just an easy change like a makeover kit to change tattoos and hairstyles.

Any word on the wings for this set, Gaile?

Personally I’m hoping for them to be a reward for the Halloween meta.

Actually, adding them as a separate backpiece is not a bad idea.

…I don’t think that would give tails back though.

No, it won’t. My guess is the costume “removes” the legs and hips of the character model and puts on the legs and hips of the costume model. This would explain why the Charr’s tail is removed. That there is only one model and it of course is tailless.

Yes. What you buy is access to the game. You download the client and then put in your login and you’re good to go. As long as the computer has the game downloaded, you can log into it.

You can download the client from the forum, for example. My account, then download client. Or you can copy data files onto a 32 or 64 Gb flash drive from your old computer and then copy it onto your computer.

My guess is the reason why Charr don’t have tails is because the costume effectively “removes” the character’s legs (and hip area) and adds the Lich costume legs. If this is so then either all chars with this costume are tailless or the costume gives all a tail.

The Raiment of the Lich was a Guild Wars 1 costume and except that the original had wings, it’s identical to it. There were numerous posts asking for it to be brought over to this game. It would not have worked out for them to change the legs as that’s not what was asked for and was not the original costume.

While there is a tad bit of hyperbole and dismissiveness in this post, it still really illustrates what a disaster this game is right now. I can’t believe anyone wonders why there’s so much snide negativity on the forums.

Especially when you realize that list is inaccurate.

If it is, it isn’t by much.

3 armor sets (the ascended) for the 3 classes, 9 if you consider the 2 new PvP armors for all 3 classes.. 2 weapon sets, ambrite and the hero weapons.

A list like that is only for the purpose of being “edgy” and sarcastic since it didn’t try for accuracy.

(And let’s ignore all the back pieces released since launch)
(And the part about human female animations removed. That’s an acknowledged bug so the part about removed is another inaccuracy)

If you think that’s a significant amount of content for a full calendar year, you are very oblivious to the standards created by other mmos.

Sigh

I never said it was significant. I was pointing out that saying that zero armor/weapons skins was not true and also not true was where he said animations were removed.

2. “new weapons” are not “weapon skins”, rather player-asked-for new weapons
(pick anything of Polearms/Halberds, Whips, 2h Axes, Lances, Spears on land, Crossbows, Shotguns, Chains, Chained Morning Stars, Bladed boomerangs, Diamond Claws, FelChakrams, 4/6 Edged Shurikens, Trisection staves, Knuckles/Unarmed, and more…). Number of those is 0 alongside the rest.

Armor dyes seems to attach to the armor itself. For example I have account bound armor for my key runner. It’s dyed and when I put the armor on a new key runner after deleting the last, the dye is still there.

The costume dyes seem to be attached to the dye slots and only as long as there is a costume there. Remove the costume and lose the dye. Switching to a new one without the costume slot being empty in between, for me, seems to only partially keep the dyes selected. Sometimes they stay and sometimes one will be lost.

For one, it completely removes charr tails. WHY? Even the horrendous clipping issues these outfits are notorious for were better then completely removing the tail.
Furthermore, I am sick and tired of “sex” gear being exclusively tied to female characters. No, I do not want my female character to look like a prostitute. No, I do not appreciate the inherent degradation and disrespect towards women that it shows, to only offer objectifying gear for female characters, and not for male characters.
Definitely not impressed.

Did you even look at the male version or did you just glance at the female one and start typing?

A bare-chested male is not the equivalent of a bare-chested, or even partially bare-chested, female.
The female breasts are sexualized to a degree that the male chest is not. A more likely male equivalent to this would be his junk almost sticking out. Which it is not.

Really? Maybe not to the same extent but I guarantee a handsome bare chested man is indeed sexualized. (If he wasn’t being sexualized for the female gaze, he would be covered up).

Technically your inaccurate as well. IF we are going by game release/birthday, it would only be the Ascended armor skins, since the pvp armors were release with the second feature patch which was after the games second ‘birthday’.
And I would only ever consider it as one armor set, not three since they can’t just release a set for one AC.

Yes, I noted above that post that the PvP armor didn’t actually count as it came out slightly after the birthday. And I did say in the post you quoted “if you consider the 2 new PvP armors” indicating there were reasons not to count it. I didn’t bother to repeat myself about how it didn’t actually count.

As for ascended, If they had only released one set, let’s say heavy, that would count as one armor set right? But they released one light armor set, one medium, one heavy. I count that as 3 sets.

Edit: they even could be counted as 6 sets as the female and male armors of each weight are not identical. Each has it’s own look and was designed separately.

Of course they won’t release any statistics be cause they would show how abysmal the game performes compared to the first year. Even the first year numbers were presented in a shady way (max players who played at one moment in this year, oh btw it was something with 400k people, compare this to Destiny: 3.4 million).

Fact is: WoW still holds 6 million people who pay monthly while GW2 is free and is played by a couple of 100k people.

The highest concurrency I saw for Destiny was 853,235 not 3.4 million. http://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---08012014/en/News/News?aid=12007

Gee, wasn’t Ascended Armor released in December of 2013? I was thinking that was during the second year. Pretty sure you can’t get that in the Gem Store. /shrug

The Hero weapons came out in Spring 2014. The Ambrite weapons, pretty sure before the 2nd birthday. The Glorious armor, PvP, missed the deadline by a bit.

A fair number of backpieces were released, but I guess we aren’t counting them for some reason.

Definitely not impressed.

I am getting so sick of people like you who try to force your views on other people. If you do not like it, fine, DO NOT BUY IT, problem solved. It is merely an outfit, not an epicly stat armor set.

Also, this is hardly “sex gear”. You must be incredibly prudish when you go to the pool and see one piece swim wear that is more revealing than this outfit.

And I am in no way disrespected or degraded by this. I am however very disrespected by your attitude with you thinking you know best. I am glad I don’t know you in real because you come across as someone who is extraordinarily judgemental and controlling.

The reason i feel angry about this set is not because it is sexy, because the male part is also walking around bare chested , but the fact that the legs, which are the selling point of this outfit to me, are off-limits to female characters. I have no problem with you liking the legs, but i feel that we already have enough outfits showing that sexy pixel leg, i want those faun hooves. Plus in this outfit it is the fact that they bothered to add new bones to the skeleton, that they made custom animations for it, but only when you are male, when you are female humanoid you get badly modeled stilettos with a hoof stuck on front.
and it happens all the time, sometimes even making armors that don’t even resemble eachother and giving them the same name, like the phalanx armor. Meanwhile male outfits tend to be the most drab and boring things you have seen and must be as covering as possible (aside from heavy). It isn’t about being sexy, it’s about the fact that men can’t be and women have to be.

In this particular case though, there were a number of posts asking for the Guild Wars 1 Lich outfit. This is what ANet had delivered, without the wings (probably because of problems with backpieces). If they had changed it to match your request then there would be angry posts about that from people who wanted the original outfit.

In this case ANet can’t win.

Oh yeah, I like the warden weapons too, I use the sword on my ranger and it goes really well with her overall blue/purple theme.

One thing I really like about the wardrobe is it provides a bit of a disconnect between skins and how/where they’re acquired, which helps me pick skins entirely on their appearance instead of being tempted to choose something rare/expensive.

Oh yeah, I have the warden greatsword on my ranger also. I don’t use greatsword much on him but it’s a very nice skin. The warden weapons have what looks like glass or ice on their weapons.

Astral Projections.7320

Eric: Asura are mammals and female asura do have mammary glands, however they are not particularly prominent the way they are in humans or norn. For the sake of physical attraction, asura place much more importance on the ears, eyes, and shape of the head (larger head equals larger cranial capacity of course!) than anything else. As for telling the genders apart, female asura tend to have much softer and fine features than males and wear their hair differently.

In other words, for Asura the head is more sexualized than the chest. And as already noted on this thread, it’s always possible the males nurse their young. Just because they are stated to be mammals doesn’t mean they followed the same evolutionary path as humans.

Snip
As for the asura, I associate them as a goblinoid race. I haven’t done extensive research into this field of fantasy, but I don’t ever really seeing them classified as mammalian. It’s not discussed in the game, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if there is an asura hatchery somewhere in Rata Sum where asuran children are left until they are hatched and then sent to school. It could also explain why there never seems to be a parent-child bond between asura and progeny as we see in human or even norn culture.

The Asura are actually placental mammals that give birth to live young.
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img198/4270/h1hh.png

As to their family feelings: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Asura
“Asura have a strong sense of family and extended family, they affectionately refer to their children as “progeny” or “offspring”. They also venerate their parents, and grandparents. Asura traditionally cremate their dead.”

The fact that they give birth to live babies doesn’t necessarily mean they’re mammals. Lots of skinks (a kind of lizard) are viviparous, so are sea snakes, as do several other kinds of reptiles. And there’s also Oviviparity, where an egg is laid but inside the mother’s body where it eventually hatches and the baby emerges fully formed, which is common in several kinds of frogs, salamanders, sea horses and others… and of course, that’s in our world, not in a completely alien one and on a species that evolved completely isolated from the surface..

True. There was also a post from a Dev however a couple of years back that states they are mammals, but I was unable to locate it while searching just now. I’ve found a number of posts referencing it, but not the direct post.

If you want to get technical about gambling you could argue that putting a quarter in the type of gumball dispenser that gives out a random child’s toy is gambling, since you are putting in real money and getting a variable result. They even use words that indicate this, “……Vending machine toys are a classic way for vending route owners to entice new customers and their quarters with multiple repeat purchases to try to get the toy capsule of their choice….”

While I’m not a big fan of the black lion chests and how they work, they aren’t doing anything that isn’t a common and accepted practice in our culture.

It may also have to do with your level. The New Player Experience now has the Personal story in blocks. Perhaps you are too low a level for that block?

The Raven wings as a backpiece for the Lich costume would be nice.

Ty for the info.

Love the new minis and plan to use the flaming head mini while wearing my Mad King’s outfit.

And we finally got the Lich outfit so many have asked for. Unfortunately the wings clip with the backpieces we have, but can’t have everything.

Maybe ANet can make those wings separately.

You can get to a trading post and crafting tables/bank from anywhere in the game by going to WvW (world vs. world). That can be accessed by either the castle icon at top left of the UI or by the default key binding of letter b. From there you can also go through the portal to Lions Arch or return to where you were by opening up the WvW panel and using the exit icon (looks sort of like a door) at bottom right of the panel.

You can also reach Lions arch by going through the PvP area, (use the crossed swords icon at top left of the UI) and then through the portal to LA.

Did you get your automated acknowledging email within the first 24 hours? If not, check your junk and spam folders and read this thread Not getting our emails.

If that’s not the problem you can put your ticket number in the above stickied thread, Tickets for Review-3 days and older.

The trading posts were moved out of the very early areas because of the NPE (New Player Experience).

Dungeons are pointed out to you by an ingame email when you hit appropriate levels for them. However most dungeon runs are done by level 80s. You can try doing them before that level, but most people wait.

I’ve never played WoW, but Guild Wars 2 is a game for people to play by exploration. It’s much more free form and the game expects you to find things to do without pointing it out too much.

So I just returned.. slightly.

You should be aware that they changed the way you get traits now. If you start a new char, you have to do specific tasks or pay to get traits. You might want to look that over before you delete and remake. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trait_guide
