I once got 69 creamed bananas through mail. Not from a stranger, though.
That….. almost sounds naughty. O.o
But no, OP. I think it’s just you getting these items.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
You forgot to add that when you are completely done with all maps you’ll get
2 gifts of exploration (which you’ll never use unless you make a Legendary)
A gold star (which is invisible to you so you have to ask someone else if it’s there)
A title (also invisible to you)
Who can ask for more? ^^

The only thing I can think of is that deranged refers to a mental disorder and the term midget is sometimes used in an offensive sense so they are stretching this rule “Have offensive racial, ethnic, national, or cultural connotations” to cover the names.
It would be the offensive cultural connotations, if my guess is right.

I forgot to add that this happened within a few days of the first forced name change. That’s the thing that raised alarm bells, to be honest.
As for contacting customer support – they haven’t contacted me, so how would I know how to contact them? I haven’t even received an email, which is standard practice in every other MMO I’ve played. For all I know, instigating a conversation on the forums is as likely to gain their attention as emailing them/calling them/sending them a carrier pigeon.
Sorry, but this is a very poor way to treat a customer.
They don’t contact people beforehand, they simply force the person to rename. That’s their policy of how they do it.
If you want to contact support to discuss the matter with them then you need to make a ticket.
Top of this page-Support
Top of next page-Submit a request.
(There are 2 buttons with drop down options which must be selected on the ticket page).
Although it was said they were going to be removed from the black lion chests, apparently they are still able to drop (very rarely).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Permanent_Hair_Stylist_Contract
Anomaly:
This item continues to drop from Black Lion Chests, despite the fact that the original announcement stated it would only do so through August 12, 2014.
And they are listed as a possible drop in the Black Lion Chest drop rate chart, although no one has recorded one yet since the last change to the drop rates. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest/Drop_rate
@Ensign
The article I linked is from 2013 and talks about a situation from mid 2012 to early 2013. The person with the 30 million gold dates to August 2012, over 2 years ago. As you said, “Everything isn’t so expensive. Most things are in fact quite cheap, and plummeted in price.” Are you talking about prices now or prices 2 years ago? You are using present tense to comment on the situation, when the article is about the past. (And your comment about plummeting in price suggests they were much higher previously).
The article also says that Blizzard had to redenominate their gold to handle increased money supply.
“The RMAH had minimum and maximum dollar amounts for in-game gold transactions: $0.25 minimum, $250 maximum. Market participants were also limited to dealing in increments of a certain size, called a “stack.” The “stack” was initially set to 100K gold. But as gold prices fell owing to rapidly building supply, the stack size was changed in August 2012 to 1 million. This practice, known as redenomination, is a fairly standard (if cosmetic) method of addressing inflation, but was viewed by some players as tacit devaluation.
These quotes were saying that gold was steadily decreasing in value:
“By early 2013, the gold price had fallen to the exchange floor set by the game managers — $0.25/million — and players began to show signs of concern”
And another quote from a player:
“[W]hy [are] certain items priced [s]o astronomically high? Many of them are not even that good yet cost 100’s of millions of gold. … I have about 45,000,000 gold saved up [and] check every few days to see if I can get any upgrades that are worth the gold, but … everything is vastly overpriced … clearly controlled by the gold sellers.”
This chart from that article is of interest: (sorry, the forum won’t allow me to display it in a clear manner, but it’s on that page in yellow near the end). The last 2 sets of numbers shows price for items for the first week of May 2013.
2013 avg prices/ 1-6 May/ 7-8 May price
radiant star amethyst 17.4M/ 41.2M/ 85.8M
radiant square ruby 187K/ 260K/ 337K
flawless square topaz 491/ 5,170/ 8,700
star emerald 764K/ 1.1M/ 1.6M
tome of jewelcrafting 694/ 3,400/ 3,100
Imo, if people have 30 or 45 million gold, when that much gold isn’t considered a remarkable amount, when items are selling for millions or hundreds of millions of gold, then there is inflation going on.
Edit: grammar.

I would love this for the dungeons. It would allow for me and other to actually explore and have some fun with it instead of moving at warp speed to keep up with the people who treat it like an assembly line job that they want to be done with as fast as possible.
Not everyone plays at their pace.
I used the mercenary system extensively in gw1. It’s what I and a friend used to get 50/50 (maximum number of points) in the Hall of Monuments. We used my mercenaries to make a complete party of 8, us 2 with 6 mercenaries. I used necro/ritualist a lot and after a fight we might have 20 or more minions around us. They healed, interrupted, handed out Ritualist Spirit weapons and more.
However they did have their limitations and doing a dungeon hard mode or a quest hard mode was significantly easier with at least one other real person.
The Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings aren’t available either. Same for the Selfless and Thoughtless potions which give you a temporary halo or horns. Or the Mad Memories or the Toy Maker’s bag,
It wouldn’t hurt to add these skins to the Laurel Vender also. Or make them acquirable by an ingame activity.
I just have to put this in. Guild transvestoon night, post-Marionette battle. My Norn and my guildie’s Human. His reply after I sent him the screen was “My character looks like your mini”
Obviously there’s some perspective involved but here it is.
Indeed. Here is a picture from Guild Wars 1. A Norn (Jora) and two non Norns.
Each costume also has 4 dye slots which can use the dyes you have on your account so it’s possible to make each one look fairly different.
Example: Ancestral outfit.

There are also two buttons where options must be chosen. Are you selecting an option for each of them?
Best way to get keys (if not the only way) without spending RL money is to do map completion. The question is, once you hit max level and map completion, what other ways are there to get them? Other than converting gold to gems that is.
Key farming is still possible. Either by using cooking to level, leveling by playing (an hour or less) or a mixture of the two (level to about level 7 or so then craft to level 10).
WoodenPotatoes has a new video on how to key farm with the NPE update.
I’ve done a number of key runs without crafting. It’s slower but still doable.
While I can see wanting to join your friend in WvW, a new player is at an extreme disadvantage there. You don’t have utility skills, elite skills, traits or decent gear and it takes several levels to get all your weapon skills. In other words, you’ll get killed repeatedly for quite some time.
It wouldn’t hurt to get on any server and learn the game. then when a spot opens up you can either pay to transfer or delete that character and transfer for free. Leveling is pretty fast in this game and you can regain the lost levels just by playing. Or you can go straight in to WvW and already have some idea how to play as well as some gold saved up from previous.

They do occasionally adjust server caps and places do open up as people move from one server to another.
Gaile Gray: source
ArenaNet Forum Communications Team Lead
“Here’s some information on server capacity, straight from our team lead, Stephen:
1. People actually do change servers, so some Full servers become Very High just from people moving around.
2. We continuously monitor the World populations and make adjustments, but there is no scheduled update period. It depends on demand for particular worlds and how much people move around and (don’t forget) how many new players join specific worlds.
3. We frequently adjust the World population caps just before events, but that’s not guaranteed."
They have several times in the past increased capacity so that full ones become very high and so on. They seem to do this when several are full and have been so for a while, but they don’t announce ahead of time.
Alright, i’ll go do the dishes and see what else i can come up with them…
I’m not anxious to chase people away but you don’t want to level, don’t want to do WvW or dungeons. You’re bored with meta events and you’re doing all the crafting you want to do atm. That doesn’t leave a whole lot more to suggest.
Role playing? Getting various collections? Filling out your wardrobe? Getting a full set of ascended weapons/armor? There are things to do but it’s more internally goal driven once you’ve gotten the basics done.
If you do want your money back, then you should submit a support ticket.

https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/27697743-RefundsAs an additional comment, getting a refund for the game should not be done as a gesture of frustration but because you have truly decided not to play the game. A refund permanently deactivates not only that account with its email but also the card used to buy the game. If other family members are using that card then it will be deactivated for them also.
Getting a refund does not deactivate the email or card used to purchase the game. Anet is not a bank, nor an IP provider. Read the post before posting to avoid providing false information to others. Edit the post to provide the info you wanted to relate.
My bad. I meant they will deactivate the email and card in their files so it can’t be used again in this game. It never occurred to me that someone would think that ANet has the power to deactivate cards or emails outside the game.
Gaile Gray
ArenaNet Support Liaison
“For full disclosure: If someone seeks a refund, their account is closed, as required by our billing providers. This is not something an account holder should do lightly, and it is an irreversible decision, just as doing a charge-back results in account closure and will never receive reinstatement. The e-mail address associated with a refunded or charged-back account will not be usable in the future, as well.”
(Here Gaile does not mean they will deactivate the email address outside the game. It’s understood that it’s only ingame deactivation they are talking about).

Glad you got your problem solved. Have fun in game. ^^
If you’re bored, then play something else for a while. Since it’s free to play after purchase, you can log in and check it out whenever you want.
Just be sure to log in briefly whenever new living story arcs are released to get them for free. If you don’t want to keep up with news of when that is, logging on for a minute every 2 weeks will take care of that.

Here is an article about hyperinflation and a game named Diablo 3.
Which is hilarious because their auction house sucked gold out of their economy just fine. Diablo 3 had a myriad of economic problems but inflation wasn’t one of them.
This isn’t inflation? Source: Diablo 3 director regrets building an in game market.
“And what did I see when I logged in to check on some prices for this blog post? New “plans” for special items that I can have the blacksmith make. Those plans cost $1.5 million in game gold. For reference, I, now playing through the third act of the hardest difficulty level, have about 10,000 in game gold right now. That’s on the low side, of course. But 1.5 million is very, very high."
Or this, from the other post:
“I purchased most of my gear for around 5 mil [gold] early on. I’ve been farming for awhile [and] have saved around 30 million gold [but now] I can’t upgrade the gear I have … Where is all this money coming from? Why is everything so expensive?”
Someone has 30 million gold and is too poor to upgrade his gear. Most people would consider that inflation.

The only reason for picking one server over another is WvW. As a new player, that’s not the spot to go to as you’re going to get wiped out. No utility skills, no traits, no elite skills, low level gear. If you are not in WvW you can play together with your friends/guild/family as you wish in PvE and PvP.
It would be better to pick a server, any NA server, and learn how to play the game while waiting for a spot to open up on the other server so you can get into WvW. Then when a spot opens up, delete that char and transfer.
Unfortunately I’ve been unable to locate a picture of Tybalt that shows his location in lions’s arch. The only reference I find is trader’s forum and I haven’t done this quest myself. It’s hard to tell if your story line is bugged or if you are not close enough to the instance marker to see it.
So, a couple of suggestions. Edit the title of your thread to something more specific. Apple vendor could mean you can’t find the NPC who sells apples for crafting. Maybe something like, Need Help Finding Tybalt. This can pull in people who know where the spot is specifically.
In addition I suggest asking in map chat. Someone is bound to remember the location. If you still can’t find the instance marker by the Trader’s Forum then you will have to put in an ingame bug report with a screen shot of the area.
If your human character only comes up to that player’s waistline, it’s a Norn.
Hard to tell without a screenshot of the area you are looking at and the instance markers can be hard to see if you aren’t close enough.
Maybe you could post a screenshot of where you’ve been looking and someone might be able to point out where it is. Another possibility, ask in map chat for help in locating it. Someone might remember the spot or have that quest as the next one on their list and be able to take you there.
Here is an article about hyperinflation and a game named Diablo 3.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-05-21/diablo-3-case-virtual-hyperinflation
While there were large number of farming bots and, at the end, a programing bug that made everything worse, the article does say that a large part of the inflation was caused by insufficient gold sinks.
It’s an interesting read and can make you look at the game taking your hard earned gold in quite a different light.
Perhaps you can use this chart to select a server. https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu/WvW
Before you transfer you can ask in map chat about queue times and guilds. This forum here, World Recruitment, has guilds that specialize in WvW.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Isn’t there an instance marker showing you where to go?
If anything, the Megaservers take pressure off those servers as people who wanted them for PvE can be on any server now. Servers are only important for WvW, which is untouched by the Megaserver system.
If you are willing to delete your chars later you can chose any NA server to play with family/friends in PvE and if a spot opens up (after 7 days have passed) you can delete all chars and switch.
20 slot accountwide bag. When bought this will add a new slot to the bottom of each character’s inventory and equip the bag. All items in this bag will be accessible from all characters on the account via the same bag.
This would not be cheap due to the price of new inventory bag slots, but would be very useful for storing things such as the infinite use salvage kits, tonics, black lion salvage kits, brooms, magic carpets, etc…
I would love to have account wide inventory bags also. So useful for trading things between alts, storing one stack of various foods instead of giving each a few, allowing easy trades of various toys and harvesting tools, etc.
If this is put in to the store it needs to be something that sells on a continuous basis, not a special that comes along every few months. Because people will need to buy multiples to make this work, it can easily take months to buy a full set for all one’s chars. It will discourage purchases of this if it’s only sold occasionally.
I can see problems that need to be worked out if it has a toggle button on the hero panel like the costumes and mini pets.
What if you are using one in PvE. How do you get rid of it if you are attacked by a mob and have to fight? If you have to open up the hero panel and untoggle it, that’s very cumbersome. If it has a toggle and you can swap weapons or something to get rid of it, what happens to the toggle? Is it still on but your weapon no longer shows? How do you get it back then, by turning the toggle on and off?
It’s an interesting idea to put it on the hero panel but there might be problems with it since it’s something you use and not something you wear or display like the mini pets.
Maybe the Achievement reward panel reworked as you suggested. Just make one when you need it and delete if you get tired of it,
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I need to change my display name as i made a mistake when i created this account thinking it was only for log in purposes and not displaying to the public. please its a personal security matter !
Only support can do that, you will need to make a ticket and discuss it with them.
Had 1700 gold once and one day I said to myself, “Self, spend it all. Let it burn!” So I bought all the cultural armors I could use then bought some more weapon and armor skins. Then used up all my karma buying more weapon/armor skins. Ended up with a few silver and a little bit of karma. (And 2 titles). And a bunch of skins to play with.
Hmmm. Ok missed that part. Might be bugged then.
The direct email address is support@guildwars2.com You can always try sending them an email directly and explaining what you want.
What you do is make a ticket to support and tell them you want to change your email and tell them what the new email is. They will then change it for you.
In general, even same or close to same height chars, the humans are more slender. The males physique is very obvious once you get to know it. Broader shoulders and a shorter appearing neck. Short human sized females Norns look chunkier. To my eyes, Norn females look like adult women and human females look like late adolescents to early 20s (usually baby faced in comparison as well as less muscular looking).

Crafting: http://www.gw2crafts.net/
Karma merchants: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Karma_vendor_items
I assumed from your original post that you want that server because you plan to do WvW. The servers are only important for WvW. If you are doing PvE and PvP then any server will do as the game has Megaservers. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/
It’s very hard to get into full servers. Periodically ANet does increase space on them dropping full servers down to very high, but it’s unknown when they are going to do this.
This means, if you are only interested in WvW, your options are to continue to wait for a spot to open up, which can be a long time if you are unlucky. Or you can go ahead and get on any NA server. This will mean that you will one have to wait the 7 days but you can use that time to learn about the game, where things are and learn somethings about the professions and how they play.
(As a new player you would get slaughtered in WvW anyway, since you won’t have good armor, weapons, utility skills or traits)
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I saw a video by WoodenPotatoes and if you are doing a hybrid leveling/crafting method, he suggested getting to about level 7 first before using crafting to get to level 10, since the first few levels are the fastest.
I’ve been reading the forums of a newish game that came out recently and the way the two forums are handled, it’s like night and day.
The other has no forum filter, so people freely use whatever profanity they want. There are frequent derailing posts and now gold sellers are spamming the forum with multiple threads.
(From pictures of ingame chat, gold sellers are spamming map chat also to the point that ingame conversation is difficult. Bots are reportedly everywhere (one guy counted 20 plus bots out of 50 chars on one path) and there is, also reportedly, flagrant use of hacks and cheats by the players).
After reading that forum, I come back to this forum to find quiet, (semi)rational discussions. All due to the hard working forum moderators.
Thank you moderators and ANet for professional conduct and hard work.
It was so easy to get the week’s reward, I got it by accident the first time. I was sneaking around doing map completion on an alt, avoiding all real WvW stuff, when I unexpectedly got a message I had some achievement. Checked my achieves and found out about the WvW tournament.
Good ole centaurs and skritts, the casuals friend in WvW.
If the Sea of Sorrows server is showing as full then you can’t transfer to there.
If you delete your chars you can transfer to any ‘not full’ server. If a full server drops to very high then you can transfer. There is a 7 day cooldown and your original choice of a server when starting the game counts. So if you’ve already chosen a server for your new account, you will need to wait for the 7 days to pass before you can transfer.
Accounts without active characters: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World
“The transfer fee is waived for accounts without any active characters. This allows players just starting out to change to another world that is not full. You also can transfer without cost if you delete all your existing characters. The next time you log on without any characters, you will be prompted to choose a new home world. 1 Please be aware of the following:
Transfers to any game world — whether free or paid for with gems — are allowed only if the population of the world is at less than capacity.
Transfers to any game world — whether free or paid for with gems — are allowed only once per seven days.
If you decide to delete the characters on your account, Customer Support cannot restore them, in whole or in part.
Items left on the characters will be deleted and cannot be restored. Move items to your personal account bank to preserve them."
how many guilds can i make? i guess 5
You can be a member of 5 at one time. If you have one personal guild already and that’s the only guild you are a member of then you can make up to 4 more.
You are allowed to be a member of up to 5 guilds. Only repping one at a time of course. Many people have personal storage guilds as well as guilds with other members.
Be sure and don’t leave your personal guild. Just stop repping it. Leaving a guild you are sole member of is irreversible. (And anything in storage is gone).
Creation: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild
“To create a guild, open the guild panel (G) and click on the “Create Guild” button. You will be asked to enter a guild name (up to 31 characters) and a tag of up to four characters. Alternatively, speak to a Guild Registrar in any of the major cities. It costs 1 to create a guild. You will be unable to create a guild while representing another, so you must Stand Down before creation."
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
What made it feel weird is there was no communication with ANet at all. They just changed our name without warning; it was a complete surprise
From previous threads they don’t warn ahead of time when they change guild names or display names. Even character name changes don’t get a warning. Those people are blocked at log in and told to change the name before they can get into the game.
The strange thing is, someone had to report your guild name and then support had to agree that it was against TOS. So someone was offended by it, enough to report it, though I don’t see it myself.

It’s extremely difficult to get a clear and concise answer to how they count server populations, but it seems to be how many accounts, both active and inactive, have that server selected as their home server.

“Connor, when you see a server FULL means that the people who’ve chosen that server as theirs, or players who have moved to that particular server, have reached the cap, independently of where did they create their accounts.

Which to me, translated into easier English means if you choose a server as your home server you are counted, playing or not.
Well let’s calculate…
3500 gold spent for the 350 keys
+21 full tickets @100gold each = 2100gold
+23 kits @60gold each = 1380gold
+267 dyes @32 silver each = 85goldAs u can see i’m @ break-even here, and EVERYTHING else i got (mini packs, dye packs, mini, backpacks, booster, services) was completely free for me. I even had 367 free chances at one permanent contract, without any luck tho. Still, free chances.
Increasing drop rate again would just result in skin price to sink on the TP IMHO
but if you want the skins yourself you can buy the 1 ticket ones for 50-70g of the TP
via buy orders also if everyone does the BLTK thing your profit margins can easily drop to 25g.
Valuing tickets @ 100g is nonsense if you look at current tempest pricesIt’s not nonsense if you are getting the tickets to sell weapon skins. In that case 100 gold is a reasonable value to put on them. If you are willing to hold on to the skin for longer than the 1 ticket price, then many are above that value.
Thats longterm investing. It will take some months for the price to raise to 100g.
Doesnt seem very appealing to me to just break even at an investment of 3500g.
Not necessarily months. The chaos skins, which were the ones previous to this, have sell orders of 100 plus gold now on most and 100 or not far below it for buy orders. And they had the disadvantage of being one ticket for an exceptionally long time.
http://www.gw2tp.com/search?name=Chaos
Perhaps some sell only to buy orders. I have always sold weapon skins though as a sell order and usually they sell pretty quickly.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
May i ask how you make 60 gold with a BLSK?
I don’t know either, but each one costs 300 gems, which with at the moment 15.11 gold per 100 gems means each one would cost you 45.33 gold to buy. So 23 of them is a 1042.59 value.

All the people saying to jump on some train or other need to remember this guy might be starting off with zero gold. Waypoints can cost up to several silver each, which can be impossible to do if you don’t have any silver at all and very expensive, relatively speaking, if you only have a little.
Which is one of the reasons I suggested getting enough to get harvesting tools, making his way to an iron node map and farming there. You can get several gold by farming all mats and selling them.
