Here is a thread that ANet should read, RNG as a concept. Here people are discussing why extremely rare and random drop rewards are disliked and how token or alternate methods are favored.
Perhaps ANet doesn’t realized that people expect holidays to be fun. Not a stressful farm or spending all your gold to try to get a particular reward. People play on holidays to relax, get loot, get whatever holiday rewards the game offers. They don’t want to be stressed and unhappy about the drop rates on an account bound item. If they had even just made the mini sellable that would have greatly reduced the complaints about this.
They should be tradable. If I were to get one of these and the price is good, I’d rather sell it than keep it. Why should I be forced to keep a mini I don’t particularly want when there are people opened 10s of thousands of bags trying to get one.
Make sure the icons are enabled on your map. There is an “eye” icon at bottom left of the big map when you press m. Click on that and make sure the options are toggled on.
You can do what I’m planning to do. Level 1 fractals. At that level there’s no agony and no one expects you to know what you’re doing. At that level also, they’re pretty easy.
Same. They used to be interesting to get and I liked getting the skins. I put them in my PvP locker and got them in my wardrobe when that came out. Getting the chest now is kind of a letdown.
If ANet isn’t going to give us skins, maybe they could have a guaranteed ticket scrap in there. People could work toward a full ticket and trade it in for a weapon skin of their choice.

No. How do you play? I think I tried the jumping puzzle once and some doors in different areas and did go to Black Citadel for Prince Thorn thing.
If so you got the witches hat then and undoubtably the horns also as they were during that time. Possibly they were on a character that you didn’t take to talk to the NPC that changes town clothes to armor until recently and then forgot that you did so. Imo this is much more likely than you got two drops that are so rare that no one else has ever reported it.
Not likely unless I played Mad king says in my sleep. Also I took all 10 of my characters to get their town cloths converted when everything changed over.
The Mad King says is where he makes bad jokes then says something like “The Mad King says laugh” The players then type /laugh (or whatever he tells you to do) in the chat box. There is an instruction on the side of the UI also telling you what to do. If you know how to type emotes like /laugh or /bow, it’s pretty clear from what he says and what the people around are doing.
At the end the chest can be opened up. In 2012 there was the witches hat and 2013 and 2014, a mask.

If you get credit for all 3 def events and do some dmg on tequatl you should get all chests.

I did all 3 defenses, got credit each time, did damage on Teq and that one time only got 3 chests. The only thing I can think of is a got a bronze on one defense on that day for some reason, in spite of killing several mobs.
Back at the start of the game, Enigmious 2 made this video that I found to be very helpful. It’s old but still relevant and perhaps will answer some of your questions.
Only other thing I can think of is that the stock got bought out (maybe lowbies who want to use the Labyrinth for leveling?) and the high price was just ancient listings.
Thats what I was thinking, but the highest price was just a few days ago on the 27th. So maybe there was a surge for the labyrinth, then leveled out again. I don’t know about lowbies leveling in the labyrinth though, but it certainly could be useful. Although I don’t think that you can use sigils on the weapons in the labyrinth. So there had to be another reason those things get super popular for a bit. The only other reason I can think of was that someone DID buy out all the stock, and slowly trickled them back in to set the new price and make some money.
Why can’t you use the sigils in the labyrinth? You use your own gear in there. Perhaps you are thinking of the PvP game inquisition?
I expect the ghost dog to be available for corn cobs come Halloween 2015.
They intended it to be rare in order to float the value of trick or treat bags since we can now farm them all year long (Maize Balm).
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it like that. Very rare this year and purchasable next year with cobs/fangs/skulls next year with another very rare mini to take its place. Sort of like the previous 2 minis, Prince Thorn and Carlotta.
My least favorite is the Stealth Heart in Blazeridge Steppes (the one where you have to try and sneak through the Ash Legion base).

I’ve done that one by getting stealth, then turning right and sneaking past the guard standing there. You can then go along the back wall and get the flags along there. It takes maybe 3 times of doing this but once you get past that guard you’re pretty safe from detection.

Nope not lying. Here is a picture of my Asura necromancer, Zolan Lazarus, wearing it. He is one of my youngest characters. It first came in on my oldest one a Norn ranger, Aurora Wildborn, but I thought she’d look ridiculous wearing it. She got the devil horns too. One of next older characters got the hat too in her 2 year bday gift.
That’s exceptionally….. unusual

I’m pretty sure that’s where the hat and horns popped up from. I wasn’t paying much attention. It may have been from the 7500 AP chest but I don’t think so and then I got a second hat on my next oldest character. Of course I didn’t need a second one since I already had the skin. The only other rewards she and a few of my oldest characters have gotten was from doing story levels and from completing maps. (I’ve been working on story levels and map completions for my 10 characters).
I really don’t see how they could have come from a birthday present. Those are not a individually designed gift but a mass produced item that’s sent off by the computer when a char dings a certain number of days. For you to have gotten something that no one else has reported from a birthday gift would mean that there is an extremely rare chance of getting something different and you got this not once but twice.
As you said, you weren’t really paying attention. I seem to recall the horns being free for a few days from the gem store around Halloween, possibly the hat also. Perhaps you got them then.
Every heart I’ve seen so far has multiple ways to do it. Almost all have a kill objective but there’s also other things that can be done.
In addition OP, if you are trying to give feedback to the Devs, they need to know which heart it is. The name of it it and if you don’t know that, the map, the level, what type of NPCs you were killing, etc… One of the 300 plus hearts in the world isn’t enough to narrow it down.

There’s already a one way Asuran portal from there to Lion’s arch. iirc it lands you in front of the WvW portals. Since there is one on that end, surely it wouldn’t be difficult for Asurans to make one that takes you to there from LA.
You’re really going to have to contact Support to see what they will do. Possibly they will send you another or maybe a Transmutation Splitter, if those are still available, but you will need to discuss that with them.

i thought it would clarify a few things to post a walk through based on how i would implement a daily content exposure delivery system

each day, players can enter the Hall of Monuments.. there they will meet a specter.. this unnamed entity will commission Tyrian heroes to complete 3 optional tasks.. these tasks will consist of any quest/event/encounter already existing in game.. each mission is presented with significant lore bits.. here is a quick example: Prevent the Tamini from retaking Holdland Camp.. holdland is a makeshift facility on a battlefront near tunwatch redoubt waypoint.. it is usually contested between the seraph and the tamini.. arena net can go as far as to make a dialogue out of this.. who are the seraph, they are the largest military organization in the human kingdom of kryta.. who are the tamini, they are the smallest portion of a three tribe centaur alliance against kryta.. why is there conflict, “i am too tired to explain it today”..
now, upon completion of the initial task, players will receive a reward paired with tokens.. possible rewards could be champ loot containers of various type.. 3 for the first task, 2 for the second, and 1 for the last.. although you are progressively rewarded less, you will gain a token per task.. this eliminates gating.. it will be on arenanet’s shoulders to organize a system that affords players fresh missions with varied difficulties.. possible token usage could be 50 tokens for a warbeast mini, 100 tokens for a ‘timeless mercenary’ title, 150 tokens for ?etc..
I don’t have a hall of monuments. What do you do for the players who didn’t come from GW1? Because in my opinion players who don’t play GW1 to earn the hall of monuments shouldn’t have access to the hall of monuments.
As long as it is not the actual daily for the day people would probably enjoy it. They complained when the number of.options got reduced so they were no longer getting the dailies by just playing how they wanted to play that day. There are players out there that expect the daily to be something that will always tailor to their gameplay. And I think there should be a daily out there that caters to the people who don’t like quests.
As to the Hall of Monuments, a portal stone is available to every player. An NPC in Lion’s Arch will give you one for free. ANet though could simply put a waypoint in there, already known to all accounts if they wanted to do this.
And as to non Guild Wars 1 players having access, why not? For them it’s essentially an empty building except for some ghostly NPCs.
Maybe it’s because they can’t think of anything that jeweler can really make, at least to the extent the armor and weapons can be made. A fair chunk of the population probably already has ascended trinkets or they plan to get them with laurels and save the cost of leveling to 500 then crafting the items.
Happened to me too yesterday. Got the exotic and 2 others. I did all batteries and did defense of a turret, then ran in to hit the dragon in between the battery phases.
1) Legendaries are supposed to be ascended so either you’re mistaken in some way, you transmuted it before they changed or it’s a bug. You might need to contract support about it.
2) money is typically from dungeons, farming and selling the mats or flipping items on the trading post. Some other people do other things like buy large numbers of underpriced bags, open them and sell the contents.
4) yes. DR is still in game.
5) new armor and weapons: PvP has a couple of new armors (Glorious). The new map, Dry Top has Ambrite weapons. WvW has the Hero weapons. The achievement rewards are the Zenith and Pinnacle weapons and the Hellfire and Radiant armor. Crafting has the ascended armors and ascended weapons.

They combine all the maps into a few so populations are concentrated and when the map hits its cap a new copy is made.
Transferring to another server is the same as before. Either pay a gem cost or delete all your characters and you can transfer for free to any non full server.
You should get an automated response within 24 hours, usually much less. If you haven’t gotten that check your spam and junk folders. If it’s not in there, read the thread above, Not Getting Our Email, to see if it’s one of the problems listed.
It can take up to 3 days for the whole problem to be taken care of. Or even longer if they are really busy.
There is an automatic price/gems in the slots and I can’t back through all the numbers to erase them. I have to put the cursor on the left side of the number in there, type a number to start, erase the automatic number then finish typing the quantity I want.

You have from now until the end of the game to get this mini as the bags are available all the time.
That is why the rate is so low, it is intended to give the bags value all the time.
You are mad because you haven’t gotten a rare item in a week, when the design intent is that you can get the rare item any time in the next several years.
u hav since launch till the end of the game to get a percursor from the MF, go ask how many ppl hav gotten it that way, and ask how many more gotten it via TP, go ask if Anet made precursor acc bound how many players will rage. ur logic clearly does not work and is not agreed by others yet u insist on it.

My “logic” is a restatement of the OFFICIAL answer that you’ve already received in this thread. The drop rate is INTENDED to be low because you have a LONG TIME in which to attempt to get it.
Your “question” is not being dodged. It is being ignored as it is irrelevant. Items are collectible if they are rare. The way you get them is not relevant.
It’s not just rare items that are collected. People collect all sorts of stuff. Barbie dolls. Stamps. Spoons even. (RNG spoons. Now that’s a concept)
While it isn’t exactly what you’re asking for, try right-clicking the dyes on your panel. It should save that color to the top of your dye collection so then you can find it easier for next time.
I think it only saves a certain number (8? 10?) So if I have a pastel green color combination for my armor and want to use abyss, celestial, redemption and iron for costume one, 4 different dyes for costume 2, 4 different dyes for costume 3, 4 different dyes for costume 4,….. After about 10(?) dyes you can’t save any more.
This would be nice indeed. I’ve often wanted this feature as I know the one I want to try by name but need to search for it by trial and error through several similar colors.
While your idea is probably ok, it’s going to be ANet that makes the final decision. Our comments are our opinions and nothing more than that.
There is an approved way to have one key capable of performing 2 different skills though. If you bind skill 1 to 1 and bind F1 to Ctrl + 1 for example. That’s set up to be allowable in the control options (in control options: hold down Ctrl and the key you want for that skill and bind it to there. Then to use the skill press Ctrl and 1 together)

I’m not sure what exactly multi boxing is.
My idea would be that when I click a certain mouse button it activates F1 but when I hold it longer than X seconds it activates attack 1.
Multi boxing is playing more than one account at a time. If you have 5 accounts for example you could have a full party of 5 running together playing the game.
As to your idea, it sounds iffy. If there are times when both skills, F1 and attack 1, go off from using that key press and if ANet is able to “see” such things then your account could be terminated.

For me part of the fun on an alt is doing map completion and unfogging areas. I also do map completions for the keys/T-charges and the complete the high level maps for the 2 guaranteed exotics.

I’m beginning to wonder if maybe the forum posters have it backward. Maybe we should start praising the RNG in this game and begging for even more RNG with impossible odds. I think this might cause ANet to release holiday rewards with high drop rates or purchasable through the vendor if we did this.
If you don’t have the mobile authenticator or the IP verification, then you should really consider it as you just handed over your account information to a hacking site. You should also let support know as they might pretend to be you and contact support to try to steal your account that way.
You can get an empty book from an NPC. There is one book per map and each page is about an event. Doing the events fills on the pages. You turn in a filled or partially filled book back in to the NPC and choose a reward of Exp, karma, special items, etc. To fill a book for the best reward means doing all events but a partial book can be turned in.
This encourages people to go out and do events in a map. This also allows for an increased rewards for doing events, more than the couple of silver and some exp and karma. It also allows the ability to put in new skins into an area that are not RNG drop based but are worked for and selectable.
I’m rather doubtful on the concept about rare for the sake of rare in a game. I don’t have a problem with rare items that take a while to craft, gather enough mats, do a certain amount of quests, etc. Those can be worked towards. The ones that are rare because there is only a handful in the game, I don’t particularly see the point in.
As for holiday items, I really don’t see the point in extreme rarity. As far as I’m concerned holidays are to have fun and get loot/gifts. If a nice item comes out and there is only a few available, imo it detracts from the ingame holiday. I get enough of that in life. I don’t particularly want it for the ingame holiday.
