As to your level 79 that will be needing a backpiece, if you have any crafting to 400, you can craft an exotic backpiece with selectable stats. It’s actually slightly better stat wise, even though it’s not level 80, than a level 80 backpiece. You can even put a +4 or +5 infusion in it.
All the links in the FAQ and “Sticky Threads” Thread aren’t working for me.
Look at the links. They all point to the old subforums, which no longer exist.

I checked several links and they lead to a home forum page with a red banner at the top with these words: Sorry, this area isn’t available yet. Please check back later.
My ranger is Dewey Killem and has a polar bear named Howe (Dewey Killem & Howe).
Devour: I Was Kidnapped
Fern Dog: Spot
Armored Fish: Mean Mr Mustard
Forest Spider: Call Me Ishmael
Black Widow Spider: I Look Like A Tick
Hyena: Juvenile Hall
The entrance is by the frog heart guy, Matlal. Go to him then into the water by him is a passageway.
Ascended armor and weapons are crafted or an possible lucky drop from a mob, but the stats you get from the drop are likely not what you want so almost always crafted. You don’t buy Acended armor with karma. You can buy exotic armor with karma from a Temple vendor, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple, for 42k armor for each piece.
The places to buy trinkets and prices are here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended#Trinkets
Amulets and rings are fine from the WvW vendor. Earrings from a Guild Commendation vendor if you are a member of a guild that does missions. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Missions

One thing you can try is put your pointer (under options) to Hide Events and Personal Story. Then systematically go to every map, including WvW, and see if it points it out for you. It will also point out any uncovered map areas without vistas, POIs, hearts, etc so you may need to clear those also before it points out a vista.

I wonder if I can give bags of experience to an alt, such as my key runner. if they give a level and are able to be held in my bank till I want them, that will be very useful to me.
Use an app like this: http://wvwintel.com
You can keep an eye out for areas you need then pop in and grab them. You won’t need to be ingame to keep track of that one spot you want.
Can someone post a link to the changes? I don’t know where to look.
Edit: Ty LanfearShadowflame for link.

When you consider that threads are now falling off the front page of the forum within a few hours, when you consider that the threads are often badly titled so that the subject is unclear, when you consider that ANet doesn’t have a better search function than anyone else, when you consider that the forums were set up just a year ago so that the Devs could easily find the topics in their particular area of interest, it’s possible that ANet didn’t do enough considering before they made these changes.
Could always put that skin on your exotic.
Eh. I still have badges and geodes to grind out and old achieves to finally do, plus whatever Wintersday stuff that comes out. For me, I’m glad they’re not combining this holiday event and another living story.
Thus might be “pinching pennies” but if you have any level 80s that haven’t been to that map yet, run them there to get a free account bound extractor. I got 8 extra ones doing that, which meant I didn’t have to buy them (96 bandit crests iirc on the price).
Didn’t they disband the dungeon team and are now looking for someone who knows about raids?
iirc on a previous thread where people were asking for all current events to show on the map, a Dev said that they didn’t want to do this because people would see an event a distance away, run to get there and by the time they got there it would be over.
My personal opinion on that is, I still want to have the ability to see all the events and decide whether or not to try for them.
Hello. Just fyi, it costs around 2g to get to level 10 via cooking. If it takes you 1h to level normally that is a huge waste of time/gold. You basically save 2g/h and if I recall correctly the average profit from farm/dungeon/whatever is 6-7g/h. So yea, it’s a huge waste to do normally when you can just farm the gold and use that to keyfarm.
Personally, I use tomes of knowledge.
Except OP only has 2 gold at the moment and says he is new, which might mean he has no level 80s and probably no tomes of knowledge.
I’m not sure how they could make it work in a game filled with so many others on your map at the same time.
Let’s say they have something like ‘Kill 10 champs’ as a Zaishen. That’s maybe 3 circuits of the Frostgorge champ zerg so that really wouldn’t work. I guess they could have you do a specific Living Story segment, but most of those are more time consuming than challenging or even interesting after you’ve done them once.
It’s easy to say “put in Zaishen” but harder to do. If there is only a few a day to do, then unless it’s instanced there will be a zerg doing it with you. If they make enough to have numerous choices a day, then to do that they have to pull people away from the projects they are currently working on (hopefully an expansion). If there are numerous choices a day then they have to be balanced in difficulty (difficult to get right) or the reward has to be carefully calibrated, something that ANet hasn’t really shown an aptitude for (the joke about 2 greens and a blue comes to mind). If they don’t then people will simply do the easiest each day.
So it will either have to be numerous choices a day (carefully calibrated in difficulty and reward) to reduce the size of the zerg or they will need to be instanced. I think you are asking for ANet to do a large amount of work in making these missions. If they are looking for stuff to do, that’s fine, if they already have a full plate then it’s unlikely they will take this project on.
I did the Zaishen in Guild Wars 1. There’s a couple of big differences that need to be considered.
1) the whole game was instanced. You never had others doing the quest with you unless you specifically invited them.
2) when the Zaishen were put in, the heavy lifting (the making of the quests) was done beforehand. All ANet really had to do was put in the rewards.
Let’s compare two champs, Guild Wars 1 Molotov Rocktail vs Guild Wars 2 the Nageling Giant.
The Rocktail is in an instance. When you go in, you are the only party there. It’s also there waiting for you. You can set it up, do the kill and get the reward.
The Giant. When you go there it may or may not be ready to go, possibly you have to wait a half hour or more. In addition, you aren’t the only party. There will be a large number of people doing this also. If it’s a Zaishen, it could be a full map’s worth of people.

One suggestion for a new mail carrier, The Grumpy Old Asuran Mailman (GOAM)
A portal opens by the player. The GOAM steps through, takes a letter out of his mailbag. While glaring at the player he tears the letter up, throws the pieces at the player, then steps back through the portal. The portal closes and disappears.
Are the jumping puzzle chests different in from the ones set a ground level? I think they are the same. I have my chars parked in Skrittsburgh. There are 2 chests right behind the Skritt King’s throne, a low level area that takes little effort to get there. If these are the same then I would be getting 18 rares a day, just for doing that. There are also a number of chests in the starter zones, at least 7 in Queensdale. Three of those are in a very easy jumping puzzle. There is also that easy jumping puzzle in Southsun by the portal.
If these are the same chests, to stop people farming rares from them ANet would need to redo the jumping puzzle chests and make them their own different class. They would also need to make the ones in the easy jumping puzzles a different class from the hard puzzles. Whether or not to put rares in chests is not an easy decision when you start thinking about it as there are chests in so many different places.

. . . wasn’t there already a consumable which did this? I could have sworn there was one.
Probably your thinking of the Twisted Watchwork Portal Device. It sends you to a random spot (vista, jumping puzzle, POI, maybe somewhere really random). This new one sends you to a party member, randomly chosen.
I was actually thinking of the non-twisted version but I haven’t actually logged on all week to look in on things . . . been too busy with work and mentally exhausted more often thanks to losing a few co-workers and having it mess with my schedule. (Among other RL-related affairs.)
More to the point, is this item one of those which can sometimes pop up as a “Daily Achievement Reward” like Forge Stones / Black Lion Kits / Boosters?
I had forgotten about that one, the Watchwork Portal Device which allows anyone to make a Mesmer portal (for a steep price). Imo, not really similar since that one makes a Mesmer portal for someone else to use and this one allows you to teleport to a party member from another map.
Not knowing what Battlemage armor looks like since I’ve only played gw, I googled it also. Found a mishmash of styles. Among them, some pictures from Guild Wars 2, armor that looks like regular chain mail armor, robes of various types as well as half naked women.
Perhaps OP could post some pictures of what exactly he means by that term since googling doesn’t clarify it.

One possibility.
Wait to find out how it works.
Wait to see if the way it works causes problems.
Complain then.
Novel. Innovative, I know. But give it a try.
“Message of the Day”.
Change it.
Problem solved, everyone in your guild gets the note.
If they are the type to regularly check the Message of the Day. I don’t know about you but the guilds I’ve been in, it’s more like the message of the month or the message of the year. It’s not something that changes on a regular basis, much less a frequent one.
In Guild Wars 1 the message of the day showed on the chat screen when you first logged in. Made it easy for everyone to see and didn’t require people to be obsessively checking a message that might not change from one month to the next.
Now if only they would bring the Fused weapons back for a while and for 2 tickets, instead of that completely unreasonable 7 tickets.
Wiki has it. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eternal_Sands

A pity. I don’t normally post here but I do read some of the ongoing threads. If they combine so many forums I don’t see how these specialty forums can keep a discussion going.
Try checking the main map. At bottom left is an “eye” icon. Click on that and see if you have all map features enabled.
If that’s not it, it’s probably because of the New Player Experience they rolled out a couple of months back and you need to level more.
I agree with OP. ANet needs to stop milking us.
I consider myself a free range cow, not one of their tame dairy herds. ANet’s attempts to pull me into the gem store milking parlor makes me kick up my heels, swish my tail agitatedly and attempt to gore the nearest person standing afk in LA. My decision to lactate should be uninfluenced by gem store pressures. Even if they play calming music and rub my udders with a warm, soft cloth it still feels like coercion.
My motto “Lactate Freely or Die!”
“•must live in the USA and be age 18 or older, for legal reasons”
I can see the age 18 part but; there are US laws restricting who a company can have as a Forum Specialist on a privately run forum to only United States residents? That’s hard to believe.
Unless there are really laws against it, this is something ANet should reconsider as this part doesn’t make sense to me.

It’s a reported bug. (Guild bank bugged) Just have to wait for a fix.
I liked the suggestion I read earlier with the grumpy Asuran mailman.
Shows up. Tears up your letter into little pieces while glaring at you. Throws the pieces at you. Leaves. (Probably through a portal).
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
It’s a bug and they know about it. (Guild Bank bugged) Just have to wait till they put a fix in.
I’ve been holding the skin for Chiroptophobia in my bank since Oct 2013, hoping that ANet gives greatswords to necros.
Same problem.
Personal guild, only member, leader, full permissions. Can’t access
2 Multi member guilds. One I’m leader and one I’m member, can access.
The problem is, I believe, is that most LFG posts are “join on me” posts not “I want to join on you.” Add people in a hurry and not reading and you have people who join your LFG, looking for what you’re looking for, who then who leave because your group isn’t ’it.
I don’t see how this can be fixed myself. It’s just people being people I’m afraid. In a hurry and not paying attention. Your best bet is probably to concentrate more on looking for LFGs trying to taxi more people into their shard.
Elves? Elves???
Just what the game does not need, an overused, rehashed, fantasy cliche of a race. No doubt they will all be stunningly beautiful, wise, excellent at whatever they do and well dressed for every occasion.
Gag me with a spoon. Bleh.
After elves then what? Anime cat women with boobs?
You can sort dyes according to hues and they are already sorted by rarity. To sort, use the cogwheel icon at top right of the dye panel.
As too your suggestion, yes an ability to preview dyes from the dye panel would be nice.
Sorted by rarity and by hue:

According to wiki, max luck shows 472,510. Op’s picture shows 2075.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Luck
“Luck will continue to accumulate up to 472,510”
In addition, his ‘filled up’ inventory shows 38/160.
I fail to see the value of a thread that has a faked screenshot to make its “point”.

The only way to lose hours is for Support the rollback an account after the hack to a time right before the hack. Unless you are willing to lose all progress on your account since that time then no, there’s nothing to be done.
I thought having nothing to do on the map was one of the big complaints about Southsun.
Making a map where people explore once then never go there again doesn’t sound like a win.
Another crafting thing you can do is refine the low level mats (copper, jute, green wood, rawhide) and sell those back. If you get them ahead of time cheap on buy order and sell them on sell order you can usually at least break even. It’s only a few levels but it cuts down on your cost if you finish leveling with cooking.
Another consideration. In Guild Wars 1 the mobs show on the mini map as red dots. In this game they are invisible until you actually see them, which means if a mob or ambient is behind something it will be easily missed. In Guild Wars 1 if you missed a mob you could go over the map until the red dot appeared. Here you could have people scouring the map for one final ambient or mob that’s sitting between a bush and the map boundary, for example. Looking for that one final mob/ambient that’s hidden behind something and not visible until you see it could extend the time to clear the map by a considerable amount.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Ok. So you are leaving in events and they only pop once. That still makes a large number of mobs to kill. In Guild Wars 1 you had to kill a max of maybe 200 or so. If you have to kill all the regular mobs, all the ambients and all the mobs of these events, for example, it will be way more than that. Even if you take out the failure events, it’s still going to be a large number of mobs and the time to kill all of them will be considerably more than a hard mode Guild Wars 1 map.

Not really the right place to report a bug though. Either ingame with a screenshot (preferred) or posting in the Game Bugs Forum is better.
I can see how this could be taken advantage of by various people.
Gold sellers:
Hack account. Marry it. Use the account’s transmutation points to reskin any ascended gear with the most valuable skins on the account. Remove all ascended weapons and armor, including any Legendarys. Advertise ascended gear and skins for sale. Marry buyers account. Sell the stolen ascended gear/valuable skin/Legendarys.Or someone could just sell skins:
Get valuable skins on your account, including Legendarys. Advertise skins for sell. Make a deal with someone then marry them. They send you their ascended gear and some gold. You equip, reskin, send back. Divorce. Repeat with someone else.Okay. I realise there is a problem, but I disagree on a few things:
- If hacking accounts was that easy, there would be way more legendaries&gold stolen.
- Support seems to be doing a pretty good job of recovering items as far as I know.
- Stealing account just to reskin something seems silly to me. It’s a sort of a…“overkill”.
- You can’t really sell any gear unless you will stay married to the buyer.
- Even if you will stay married, there’s a big chance the owner will get his/her account back and receive all of his/her stolen items back. And that’s with the small system it took me 5 minutes to make. I imagine developers are much better at this.
1) whether or not support can recover items is not the point. The point is that gold sellers or people selling skins can make and sell or give away an essentially infinite amount of skins if they have the ability to trade account bound items.
2) “stealing accounts just to reskin something.” I didn’t say they would steal accounts just for that. It will be bonus for them. They steal an account and in addition to what they can now steal they will have the ability to steal and sell skins.
3) “you can’t really sell any any gear unless you stay married to them”. What do you mean by that? You sell the reskinned gear or you reskin the item after someone sends it to you and send it back. Then you divorce them. Are you saying that it will then reset back to the previous skin on their account once it’s in their wardrobe?
4) “- Even if you will stay married, there’s a big chance the owner will get his/her account back and receive all of his/her stolen items back.” Even so that makes a lot of work for support tracking down all the ascended items reskinned and sold.
And what about this scenario. Someone buys a skin from a gold seller. Then he marries someone else, for real. He gives that person the skin as a gift. It’s now in that person’s wardrobe. The gold seller and buyer are later banned but what about the 3rd person? From what I’ve read, support can’t remove skins from the wardrobe so they will have that skin even though it was originally stolen. Then the banned buyer buys a new account. He remarries the 3rd person and that person gives back the skin the buyer got banned for buying from a gold seller.

For me it’s often useful to know where my minis are. The reason? Lag.
If I’m lagging and don’t know it and see my mini far behind or stopped I know to stop moving so that I don’t run off a cliff and die or agro mobs I can’t handle while lagging.
