I can see how this could be taken advantage of by various people.
Gold sellers:
Hack account. Marry it. Use the account’s transmutation points to reskin any ascended gear with the most valuable skins on the account. Remove all ascended weapons and armor, including any Legendarys. Advertise ascended gear and skins for sale. Marry buyers account. Sell the stolen ascended gear/valuable skin/Legendarys.
Or someone could just sell skins:
Get valuable skins on your account, including Legendarys. Advertise skins for sell. Make a deal with someone then marry them. They send you their ascended gear and some gold. You equip, reskin, send back. Divorce. Repeat with someone else.

I wonder if that is the old event, Beacons of Kryta from the August 2013 Queen Jennah’s Jubilee, peeking through. One of the runs was in that area.
As to your question about finding a group for dungeons, use your LFG (looking for group) panel. It shows all the people in your same region, NA or EU, who are looking for people to do dungeons, fractals, personal story, living story, and PvP.
What happens if you copy paste the name into the character name slot? Will it take it then?
If you have a spare character slot I guess you could try making a character of that race and see if you can equip the armor and change the skins to something else. Otherwise you are going to have to talk to support and see if there is anything they can do.
Try putting your content guide pointer (in options) to Hide Events and Personal Story. Then waypoint into each map and see if the pointer shows that you have undiscovered areas on that map. It will point towards undiscovered areas and there is an icon that looks like (to me) someone climbing a hill.
Soulbound means it’s something that only that character can use. Account bound items can be used by any of your characters.
Banks are found is several places but the main spots are the big cities and your borderland WvW map. Sometimes they will be on regular maps.
The location of banks are visible on the map with an icon. (Shown below). You can also access your bank at any crafting table, which have their own set of icons. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crafting_station
If you are a new player, the icons may not be showing on your map yet. Ask in map chat where a bank is and have them ping the location in chat. If you click on a ping it will show you where the location is on the map.
Another poorly explained/thought out thread.
Deleting/blocking entrance requires work for ANet and a reason for them to do it. OP has not given a good reason for his suggestion.
1) what about the portal stones they sold. Will people get a refund on that?
2) what about the nodes in the home instance, where will they go? They need to be either in an instance so they can be kept private (so ANet will have to find/make another instance, more work for them) or they need to be removed to another location and then modified so that people who haven’t paid for them, can’t access them. Currently if you invite someone into your home instance, those people can harvest the nodes there. They will need to be reworked to limit access then, as they can’t be free for everyone in the game if one person buys a gem store node and it’s put in a public spot.

Why Nyan for heaven’s sakes. That’s the sound Japanese cats make. You might as well have named them Meow. Calling any Japanese anime cat person Meow/Nyan trivializes your suggestion to the point of parody.

Looks like the previous time people logged in was the 26th. Maybe the logins from the 26th didn’t post until the 27th?
Either way, it’s messed up and not very accurate as I’ve had up to 3 days go by without showing logins, even though I’ve gotten influence from activities on those days.
Okay I had not logged on for well over 24 hours. I got 40 influence for 5 of my players logging in. Also no one logged in on the 27th at all. But shows 70 influence for the 27th. So there is something really messed up here.
The picture you have there doesn’t show the 27th. It ends on the 22nd. Maybe you got the 21st and 27th confused? The 21st has 70 influence for logins and shows guildies doing activities and working on guild queues.
“According to our Marketing Team, the items you mention are from the Heroic Edition, not the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Again, if that is indeed what she is referencing, then this becomes rather misinforming.
Also, I understand Arenanet’s stand on the issue, obviously.
(I don’t have the items)I just feel like the whole thing screams bad marketing and misinformation
That quote from Gaile is referencing an old version of the digital deluxe (about a year ago) and is a response to another poster asking about the it. The old version was different. Sorry for the confusion there. I should have pointed that out as well as putting in the Source. That was my mistake. Mea culpa.
I prefer not to edit, “correct”, or remove parts of “Red Posts” so I left her response to the other poster about the old version in. What I do is highlight the important parts that are relevant. The part that I want to indicate that this is their policy and how they handle this.
This part:
“Please keep in mind that with any developer, offerings and prices change over the life of a game. Just as your local department store doesn’t give this week’s bonus B1G1F offer to someone who purchased the a pair of shoes six months or a year ago, we’re not giving the new items to those who have had the pleasure of playing the game for the last many months.”
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
The comparison between the Wizard’s ‘hat give away and the new versions of the Digital Deluxe is apples and oranges. The reason why there were complaints about the Wizard’s ‘hat is because it was exclusive. That’s what people were upset about. There was no other way to get this item besides buying the new version of the game. Unless there are items in this version of the Digital Deluxe that are exclusive and not obtainable from playing or buying from the gem store, then your comparison doesn’t hold.
This seems to be their policy. Source

“According to our Marketing Team, the items you mention are from the Heroic Edition, not the Digital Deluxe Edition. The items are given to those who activated a new game account starting around the end of August and on into the future. Please keep in mind that with any developer, offerings and prices change over the life of a game. Just as your local department store doesn’t give this week’s bonus B1G1F offer to someone who purchased the a pair of shoes six months or a year ago, we’re not giving the new items to those who have had the pleasure of playing the game for the last many months.
However, I’d like to say more about the Heroic Edition items: all these items are available in the game. For those who have played for a while, it’s likely they already would have acquired the items or would find that they no longer are relevant.”
ANet does have a history of making exclusive/hard to get items items more easily attainable (Wizard’s ’hat, Mr. Sparkles). They do not have a history of giving away items that that are continuously for sale in the gem store or are available by playing the game.
@TheBlackLeach
“It is just bad PR, imho. …especially since the players went into an uproar about the same topic in the past and Arenanet did indeed give everyone the exclusive items.”
ANet gave everyone the exclusive items in the past? I don’t recall this. What items were those? They gave them to everyone or to those that complained? Because I can recall a number of posts where people complained previously and didn’t get these items. They were told no. It’s separate.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I’m sorry OP but your post doesn’t make sense to me. You say PvE only can’t do the monthly unless you do jumping puzzles but you haven’t done the events and you have 5196 PvP monthly rank points. As a PvE only person, if you had spent that time doing events you would have had your monthly.
I wonder if these threads would come up if ANet named the new offering something different than Digital Deluxe. If they named it Digital Heroic for example, I suspect a lot less people would think they are entitled to get what is in it just because they bought the Deluxe in the past.
And after the cute cat people, how about cute panda people.
What if someone hacks the other person’s computer and deletes/vendors your account bound stuff? Will you get the one free account restoration for this or will it be “no, too bad”? Or what if you quarrel and they delete your account bound stuff? Or just do something stupid with your 3000 gems or more worth of harvesting tools. In this case there will definitely be no restoration.
There is a reason why ANet doesn’t allow people to share a single account with its belongings. It’s because people quarrel or do stupid things with other people’s items.
Roleplay marriage if you want. Sharing account bound items across accounts is asking for trouble.
Gem prices increase before Anet releases new items because people anticipate it (since it almost always happens on Tuesdays) and start converting gold to gems beforehand.
“or the addition of Pact weapons as BL skins” – what was the last fancy weapon set added that was not a BL skin? That’s how they add special weapons to the game. special armors seem to come from LS rewards, special weapons from BL tickets. the only non-BL set that comes to mind would be fractal weapons from like 2 years ago.
Ambrite weapons, for the record.
Mistforged/Hero weapons
Ascended weaponsSovereign weapons, too.
Storm Wizard’s
King Toad’s
Super Weapon’s
Edit: Guhracie (below) said Zenith which reminded me of the Pinnacle weapons. These are rewards starting at 29k achievement points.
(Ambrite from Hyper Cutter as the quote system cuts out that one)

All dragons collect things. It’s part of dragon lore. Some collect gold and jewels. Others collect rare, magical items. Tequatl collects……. spoons.
Could be worse. He could be a spork collector.
No one, I think, is seriously arguing that ANet isn’t working on “stuff” and they have been releasing “stuff” on a steady basis. Speaking for myself though, it feels like I’ve sat down at a table for a meal and the waiter puts a teaspoonful of this and a teaspoonful of that on my plate. Tasty enough and enough to keep me grazing while I chat with my fellow diners but gosh darn it, sooner or later I want a whole heaping plate full.
Ive seen where I’ve gotten influence over a few days time for doing events but no influence during that time spanning 3 days or so for logging in, so obviously it’s bugged. I reported it in game with a screenshot and later got influence, either from the game or from support.
Wouldnt selling the weapons directly on gem store be better sales? I dont mind some sets being gem store only but dislike the rng aspect of it.
The very first set of weapons did sell in the gem store, the Winter’s weapon skins in December 2012. I remember that one as I bought 2 weapons directly from the gem store from that set, the shortbow and the shield. (That set was later made available through tickets) The set after that, Fused weapons, was through the ticket method. While one could argue that the first set didn’t sell well enough based on their looks, the fact that ANet quickly switched to and then kept the RNG method of selling weapon skins suggests the sales directly were below expectations.
Now I agree that the first set was very niche and the second set was wildly popular which would lead to a large discrepancy in sales but they did try the direct sale method and it must have been a failure even when you take these factors into consideration. They must have forecasted X number of sales directly, and didn’t achieve it, and Y sales by RNG and surpassed it. Once that happened, sales by RNG were set in stone.
Wow. Major thread bug. No pages. No responses. Only OP’s initial post.
Posting to fix thread.

The Mystic Forge
In 2012 I spent almost everything I had at the time, about 30 gold, during the first Wintersday trying to get the Princess Doll Eternal Tonic. After I spent all my gold I was so upset I deleted the cogs and other forge items so I would never be tempted to use the Mystic Toilet for that again. I knew even then it was a gamble (and I hate gambling) but I did it anyway.
Specifically they said: Source
“There are only four weeks left to use tickets for Lovestruck, Dragon’s Jade, Aetherblade, Fused, and Dreamthistle weapon sets. After November 18, these sets will no longer be available for purchase with Black Lion Claim Tickets this year.”
This leaves open the possibility (and imo the probability) that they will bring these skins back periodically for short periods of time. If you’ve noticed the way they sell skins in the gem store, many are brought back periodically for short periods of time then removed. It’s probable they are planning to do this to the BL tickets skins in order to keep interest in them fresh.
There is a heart in Bloodtide where part of the objective is to kill ambient crows. This means they respawn fairly quickly in small groups of 3 or so.

Maybe if ANet made a PvE/PvP map that no one could actually join as a home server, but could only guest to.
This would eliminate all the problems with new players selecting a PvP server as their home, getting constantly ganked and complaining about it in the forum. They could even make it a level 80 server only. That is, all maps in it are level 80. Maybe the players arrive at a waiting area and talk to an NPC and chose a faction. After that they can waypoint to the map of their choice.
The map is only used the one time to get the key. The key is not actually a key, despite its name. It’s just one of the items in that collection. Like any of the items in a collection, getting it fills its spot in the collection box. After that it can be sold/equipped/salvaged/whatever.

For those expressing disappointment that Gaile did not know of this information previously, I want to point out that she is not a Dev and not a programmer. Before her current job she was in Account Issues where she helped people who were hacked, forgot their passwords, had email problems and other things of that nature. Possibly she read the bug/regular forums in her spare time but it wasn’t part of her job and if she did so it was part of being interested in what was going on. It’s not reasonable to expect her to know the history of this sort of thing when her job as Communication Team Lead is very new. I very much doubt she has time to go through all the hundreds, if not thousands, of posts in the last few months, looking for ongoing issues, which is why she is asking us to bring these to her attention as well as the details about them to make finding what the problems are as easy as possible.
This sort of thing, since it impacts the players directly, is obvious to us. The scattered posts about this would not be obvious to her and castigating her about something that’s been going on before she took her new job is unreasonable.

I already have NPC chat turned off so I don’t hear this thing but the visual chat is annoying and distracting. If I’m doing some event like Teq or a dungeon, I’m keeping an eye out for things the people I’m playing alongside say. This means that the visual chat always catches my eyes and I automatically read it to make sure it’s not something I need to know. It’s distracting, annoying and since imo, it says stupid things repeatedly, it’s not something I want to see. If it was something I wanted to hear or see, I would have bought it for myself.
I really don’t see why there needs to be visual chat displayed on this sort of thing. Chat audible to other than the owner is bad enough. There’s already enough particle pollution in every fight. There’s no reason to add more unneeded junk.
Make the chat only something that the owner hears and sees.
Yah, you can transfer back and forth but because of the cost in gems to do so and the 7 day waiting time between transfers, it’s not practical. If it’s something you want to do then you’re better off getting 2 accounts. You can mail gold and non account bound items to your new account if you do this. New accounts do have limits on them with mailing stuff back and forth that’s gradually lifted so don’t send too much gold to a new account as it don’t be able to send it back for a while.

For customers in the North American and European regions, upon registration our servers will perform a one-time check to ensure your serial code matches the region you are connecting from. Customers in North America must register the North American version of the game; customers in Europe must register the European version of the game; customers in other regions may register either version. When you purchase the game from buy.guildwars2.com, you automatically will receive the correct version of the game.
After successfully completing account registration, your account becomes a global account, and you can roam to any part of the world and still access the game.

Region: This indicates the location of the data center that stores your account information; it has nothing directly to do with your geographical location. Players from one region cannot enter the same maps as those from any other, e.g. those with NA home worlds cannot play with those based on EU ones.
Players can transfer from NA to EU worlds and vice-versa, but not between China and the EU/NA regions.
Similarly, the EU & NA regions share a Trading Post while the China region has its own.

There have already been several threads on the collections and how they are broken since this came out in September. There’s even another on this page. After numerous threads and posts, it gets to a point where people stop responding to them. Not uninterested. More like grimly resigned.

It’s not only humans. To show off fur, tattoos and glow are valid reasons to want skimpy armor. While it’s possible to find female options on some armors and sexes, male armor is lacking in skimpy fur/glow/tattoos displaying choices.
Guhracie — I think your tone was very polite and constructive, and thanks for that, and for your suggestions.
I think what you’re suggesting is that we have a dedicated page in the News and Announcements Forum that listed external updates: a blog post here, an interview there, that sort of thing? So you’re thinking public information provided elsewhere might be gathered in a sticky post in that forum?
As to trying to provide links to informative forum posts, well, that’s precisely why we offer the Dev Tracker. In the Dev Tracker, forum members who are interested in learning the latest from the team can see what was said in whatever timeframe — the last day, the last week — they want to review. Maybe you mean something different, I’m not sure.
Valuable threads can be stickied in the appropriate forum. But perhaps my team could be more active in making threads sticky, and in removing them from sticky status. There’s nothing that demands that a thread that was stickied in 1998 needs to be stickied today.
Maybe a thread is relevant for a week or a month. After that, it can be unsticked. Others that remain relevant forever — like the “Tickets for Review” thread in the Support Sub-forum — should be left in stickied status forever.
Fact is, we don’t want a sticky-fest, where half of the front page of each sub-forum is filled with stickies. On the other hand, being more active with stickies could be very helpful and would keep the forums more current. Let me brainstorm with the team about this idea.
Thanks for a good topic of discussion. Feedback is welcome from anyone who’d care to offer it!
I find the problem with the dev tracker is that 90% of the posts are from customer support and ticket responses that have no bearing on the game itself.
Is there a way that posts from the customer support section could be removed from the dev tracker? I think that would make it much easier to find information.
I don’t think there’s a way to weight responses, to analyze “This is about the game” and “this is about an account/technical issue.” And what one person might feel isn’t of interest another might find of value, like the response to a technical support problem that affects them, as well.
I can investigate if we want to get more granular on tracking as far as support versus non-support, but I believe we’ll find that it’s not practical nor possible.
I do appreciate the idea, though, and the chance to think it through.
What if the Dev tracker section was reformatted so each ANet staffer who posts has his own thread? It will look rather like a regular forum section but instead of individual threads there are ANet staffer names, and of course non staff members can’t post in there. It’s a read only forum to us.
For example:
Forum
Dev Tracker posts
Gaile Gray
Justin ODell
Josh Davis
Evan Lesh
(Etc…)
To read a particular Staffer’s posts then you click on the name and it takes you directly to that person’s posts. This forum can have threads under the ANet Staff Name threads where any staffer can make a thread with an announcement or special information. It could be the central spot for any news ANet wants people to know. The threads might says no more than, read [link to twitter] about topic Y or read [link to internet gaming site] about the latest interview on topic X. It could have it’s own stickied thread section with posts that the staffers thinks are of particular importance.
To work properly it will need 3 sections.
1) A red stickied section.
2) An ANet Staff section.
3) An announcement thread section.
If that’s not possible for some reason then maybe 2 forums with one having the Dev tracker and the other having the announcement threads and the stickied threads.

Yes plz only 1 race Human, 5 races is just to confusing to me.
Lets not even go to classes Warrior is just enough and only GS use.
Then how about removing humans as well. In place of the 5 races I propose one new race, the Elemental. The Elemental is a floating ball of light. The new player will have no worries about figuring out what race to be, what face or hairstyle at character creation. There is no armor clipping and no animations (you just float along). Everyone gets the same set of offensive and defensive skills and a talent tree to put points into.
At level 80 you get to choose to be a new color since by that time you should understand the game well enough to handle that level of choice.
9 level 80s, but one is retired and is a mule now. One with 100% map completion and working on a second. The others will probably get 100% PvE at some time. WvW is more problematic.
Ha. Lol. 7 months later I have 3 now at 100% and one at 94% (just some Red WvW areas and some PvE maps left). The rest are in the high 80s.
OMG yes. There are a bunch of tridents and spears that would make wonderful staffs.

it was never stated that we are going to see something preposterous such as this about Greatsword Thieves and Staff Engineers.Hmm. I seem to remember reading a red tag stating all weapons on all professions however. I’d have to do some serious digging to find the exact post/article/interview though and I’m not sure it’d be worth the effort.
This is what I found

PROGRESSION AT LEVEL 80 EXPANDS
What’s more is that the team is also working very h’ard (forum filter) finding a way to make it so that every profession has access to every weapon and their own weapon skills for those previously locked weapons. Engineer plus Hammer? Check. Again, there’s no specific timeline for this, but a new progression system is coming. Finally those level 80s you’ve been hoarding will get some use, as they’ll be adding more and more skills and traits to the game for years to come and on a regular basis for players to obtain.

You don’t need to. Just download the client and use your login (the same as the one for the forum) to access the game.
And on top of that you can put in an offensive (or defensive depending on which you craft) infusion item for additional points of a chosen stat.
What do you want to bet they will raise the level cap one day.
They wait till most long term level 80’s have ascended weapons on at least their main char then abruptly, with only one sentence in the game release notes to announce it, they raise the level cap to 100 and simultaneously announce a new gear level, craftable with time gated account bound mats only obtainable in a new map with nodes that can only be harvested once daily per account.
